Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I know of several socialist types,Canadians, who regularly vacation in Cuba. Not one of them sees anything negative about the place, yet when I’ve spoken to non-socialists who have visited Cuba, they report that real poverty is everywhere.
Posted by: dmorris at September 9, 2010 11:20 AM
dmorris, I’d like to meet some liberal meat-head who thinks Cuban is some kind of workers’ socialist paradise. I know they exist, but I’ve never met one in person. I’d honestly like to engage that person in academic debate, to pound some sense into them. Failing that, a good bout of fisticuffs could also be very satisfying to just plain pound them.
Because I’ve been to Cuba. Twice. I must admit to struggling with the moral conundrum about visiting a despotic country, that my dollars would help prop up the regime.
But, I can confirm the accounts of crushing poverty there. Folks who work in the resorts can do okay economically, due to cash and non-cash gratuities. My wife and I were liberal with both during our stays. But, we made the point to venture out of the resort bubble, and the evidence of poverty is as clear as being hit over the head with a 2×4. Champagne socialists who say otherwise are woefully naive, or deliberately ignorant. In either case, they are the problem.
These are the kind of people who, in the face of a century of evidence to the contrary, continue to perpetuate the Marxist meme. I honestly have come to the belief that modern day, capital-L Liberalism is a mental disorder of some kind. I mean this genuinely, and am not being facetious. I cannot come up with any other logical explanation for people who steadfastly hold to failed political and economic views in spite of massive evidence to the contrary.
Fidel follows Beria by sixty years. Beria himself said, in effect, “I’ve killed more people than anyone else in the name of socialism, and for all that it simply doesn’t work.” — this just before he himself was shot. But will the flagrantly obvious or its recognition by the icons of the left convince the champagne socialists of the western world cocooned in the safe embrace of the very capitalist system they’re so quick to disparage to abandon their moribund ideology? Not bl##dy likely. A fantasy is a hard thing to relinquish, and untold blood and treasure will yet have to be sacrificed burying this economic/social anachronism in the face of its defenders who still believe you can resuscitate a rotting corpse.
I don’t like Justin Trudeau, and I despise his bi-polar mother even worst. (I would explain why–but they would erase my comment anyway.) I did meet his brother at a wedding a couple of years ago, the other Trudeau looks like an OK guy to me, very quiet and reserved.
I think we need to use our brains once in a while. Communism, in it’s original philosophy, did not condone putting people in jail, making war agasinst those who opposed its views, nor did it condone preventing people from working at their full potential.
Stalin, Chairman Mao and Fidel (etc.) used communism to acheive their personal goals. Everyone knows that all humans-ulitimately-seek power and or control over their fate, and over their fellow man’s. We all have our own ways of getting to that.
I don’t know why Trudeau associated himself with communism–nor am I even curious to find out. And please keep in mind that Trudeau-once the most powerful man in Canada– was in reality brought down by an unknown journalist from Alberta, so obviously, communism does have its downfalls too!!
Having written that, i conclude that Justin Trudeau will be going for long walks in the snow, and for a long time yet. Snowshoes are on sale at The Mountain CO-OP in Calgary Justin, happy trails to you!
It’s interesting to see Fidel dying over the course of a few years, rather than suddenly, knowing his mortality is looking at him through the window. I imagine he can smell his rot as he looks around his rotting prison island and wonders if this is the glory he aspired to. Will the Trudeau types in Canada ever have the same view to their past? That what they did to this country helped for nought. The dying body of Fidel has started to infect his brain. In the past week he’s stated how the communists were too hard on homosexuals, (I commented here some weeks past with a link to a recorded security apparatus taking 2 girls away that had been kissing on a public street), how the Iranians should lighten up on the Jews (after his own island has seen to rid itself of 90% of their jewish population) and now that his political stance has been all wrong. Is he simply preparing to meet his maker?
Will his words of atonement make his life’s work vanish? Perhaps in 20 years. Perhaps in a future year, Justin Trudeau will be walking in Havana and someone will say to him “eh.. I remember you….”
Kate’s post – Yup, photoshopping and sarc and mischievous.
It is also the truth. It also demonstrates how the latte left is so out to lunch. And how garden-pathy (the wrong one!) Trudeau was. And yet, to this day, our beloved Canadian media thinks of him as a hero and a savior.
WHY ?? Because he was seen as part of the Ruling Class.
@ Kate – this post rates right up there with the wk cycle serial # one, heh.
Castro just wants the embargo lifted, too bad America is broke as well, tourist dollars won’t be flowing anytime soon under the current Obama regime.
H.Ryan, Castro is not after the touriste dollars, he’s got his sights set much higher. As I said above expect to see an arrangement with Castro and Obama in the next few months, they expect to scratch each others back and they both know that time is running out on them!!!
“Uncle Fidel’s statement has just opened the door for the Mighty O’s second term.”
A number of states won’t be letting ‘Mighty O’ on the ballot a second time without seeing the genuine long form birth certificate.
You heard it here first.
Antenor, you may be on to something…I can smell the commie Soros within your very plausible scenario too.
Obama drops the embargo gaining the Cuban American vote, legislates amnesty shoring up the latino vote,is there anything the Democrats won’t do to stay in power?
If you jokers think the Helms–Burton Act passed on March 12, 1996 by the 104th United States Congress can be recinded by a sweep of Obama’s hand you are sadly mistaken.
Im waiting for the Justin Trudeau Autobiography.
” The Audacity of Hype” or “WetDreams of My Father” the mathematics of 59 into 24
remember CBCPravda glorifying his eulogy labeling him as the future lieberal leader
should go along side the Justin Beiber Biography just out for bookshelf filler.
Oz, the way things are preoceeding in AmeriKa today do you really think that the Helms-Burton Act will hold any water. O enjoys his golf too much and dropping the embargo with Cuba will ensure that he gets his second term and will give him more courses to play on. With the Cuban-Latino vote tied in with the African-American vote and the Hispanic vote factor in the Dem’s and leftards that can’t think for themselves well then he’s got the rest of us red-neck, gun-toting, Bible thumping voters outnumbered.
So when does Justin “Castro” don his “Picklehaube” (spiked helmet), mount his bicycle, light a Cuban cigar and announce to the media thong er throng that:
Communism does’nt work!
Bolsheviks lied, millions died…
Cheers

So when does Justin “Castro” don his “Picklehaube” (spiked helmet), mount his bicycle, light a Cuban cigar and announce to the media thong er throng that:
Never.
Reason: Justin would be pilloried for lighting a cigar so it just wouldn’t happen.
(plus the Leftists who inhabit Liberal democracies NEVER admit they were wrong because it might mar their ability to take us on the next march in the wrong direction))
Oz:
(My opinion.) In reality, the Helms Burton Act did nothing but prolongue the Cuban communist experience. Had the yanks had a free hand at the Cuban economy, Castro would have been history long ago! It did nothing but punish the majority who were never involved in the reveolution.
As for subtlety and PhotoShop: I don’t have a devious mind. That would NEVER have occurred to me … 😉
Scripto, you may be right.
My point in bringing up the Helms–Burton Act is that it is still in effect, that it is an Act of Congress signed into law by President Clinton, and that no matter what wet dream conspiracy theories people like Antenor at September 9, 2010 12:13 PM or Right Honourable Terry Tory at September 9, 2010 2:01 PM or H.Ryan at September 9, 2010 2:08 PM have, Obama cannot just “drop” the embargo of Cuba for his own convenience because of the existence of an Act of Congress preventing him.
This Congress, the Democrat dominated Congress, doesn’t have any repeal of the Helms–Burton Act in the works and you can make a safe bet that the next Congress, which will be a Republican Congress, will have more important things to do than worry about Cuba.
RHTT…..Soros was and is a NAZI (regardless of his Jewish heritage),not that that makes him any better than a commie.
And you can bet little Turdeau has him on speed dial.

“Mischief is important”
I’m amazed at how many people here didn’t realize that was a spoof.
re: Fidel’s near death conversion (what’s next? Is he going to embrace God next month?):
Glad he feels for the Jews, because he’s walking proof of their old saying “We get too soon old, and too late smart”.
The graphic might be a spoof, but the point is right on. I’m waiting for the “Castro Confessions” to air on the CBC.
I wonder if he tries to consult his dead Father as one of our PM’S used to do. Taking take council of his dead dog & mother. He was a Liberal as well.
The younger Trudeau is even more the marionette, than his Daddy.
That said. Its a crazy World where Fidel Castro speaks up for the Jews than against his own legacy.
JMO
@Fidel – Too soon old, too late smart.
The idiot-son of an idiot prime minister laments a doddering old idiot’s admission of failure.
Priceless.
Justin Trudeau inherited his mother’s good looks.
Unfortunately he inherited her brains also.
Spoken from the lips of a high ranking Liberal a couple of years ago.
Fidel, let facebook help you find new friends.
Justin, you were poked by Rex M.
Justin has joined the Facebook group “I like what I see in the mirror.”
@OSAMA — Hey gang, what’s happenin’ I been busy with the cave renovations … did Barack get my fatwa?
So the tweet turned out to be fake? But the twit remains real.

OMG, light in the midst of the insanity, and from a totally unexpected source, El Maximo Lider! Wow, this really is a fine homecoming!
Naturally, someone had to hint it might be because of failing health…but personally I’d love to see Fidel’s entire interview plastered on huge billboards up and down university campuses across the Western world.
