  1. Isn’t the picture most of us have in our minds, is it? Though I’m sure there is a great amount of poverty there too, but I suspect that has more to do with Islamic concepts of poverty, and how to take care of the less fortunate than it has to do with Judaic of Christian concepts of the same.
Not sure about the “pancake” reference but could probably have done without it.

  2. On the main page of the mall’s website, left-hand side, there’s a picture of a female support person (presumably) without a burqua, looking entirely Westernized, hence un-islamo-holy. I suspect you can’t find a single woman dressed like that support person anywhere in the Gaza mall.

  3. West Edmonton, no worries.
They don’t have a wave pool.
They used up all the concrete on their Olympic Pool.

  4. “… Free Gaza with every $100 purchase.” (smile)
Kate you are truly wicked …. The new slogan.
    MM

  5. …the Gaza Mall is a multi-story shopping center that includes food, clothing, perfumes, shoes, household appliances, office supplies and more.
    What? No rocket shop?
    Syncro

  6. I wonder if there is one of those Hickory Farms sausage and cheese kiosks, and a CAT work boots store?
@syncrodox Rockets ‘R Us is usually a stand alone store and not in a mall.

  7. These sorts of links work well with the Monckton defense. Just ask a person who doesn’t believe that these malls exist whether it would be a good thing if they did, and whether they would change their views on Palestine/Israel if they independently verified them.
They usually get very mad at you or accuse you of some logical fallacy. They usually invent a fallacy that doesn’t exist to get out of it.

  8. I’ve been to Luanda and Cabinda, Angola. Seeing nice buildings next to absolute poverty is kinda startling at first but it’s not wrong by any sense of the imagination.
For the African Soccer Tournament they built 4 soccer stadiums in Angola. The one on the route I travelled, outside Cabinda, was next to mud huts with the kids have those little bloated bellies. I saw ’em with my own eyes.
As many commenters have noted about left leaners. The seek not to bring everybody up in wealth, etc, but to take everybody else down to the lowest level. So, conservatives should cheer the fact that Gaza has a shopping mall to serve the more ‘wealthier’ people.
How can building a shopping mall in Canada be good when people live in poverty but building a shopping mall in Gaza when people live in poverty is wrong.
Is it wrong to build a skysraper in downtown Calgary when there is a bunch of homeless people around the corner?
The built The Rooms in St. John’s when alot of people in the province are unemployed or on welfare. Is that wrong?
Cognitive Dissonance without the uncomfortable feeling.

  9. That shopping mall shows a startling deficit – one which underscores the deep poverty in Gaza. No escalators are to be seen anywhere. Oh the humanity!

  10. Ken. I have the set saved and am awaiting a victim story when the shooting stars.

  11. Our tax dollars at work in the third world. It will be interesting to see what happens when there are no more first World Countries left? To send them Dane-geld.
    This is the new impoverished?

  12. J: “How can building a shopping mall in Canada be good when people live in poverty but building a shopping mall in Gaza when people live in poverty is wrong.”
Having a problem with the point I see. You didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night did you?

  13. Prediction…
The crazies will blow it up because it is too western or un-islamic……or they were bored…..

  14. Way to distort the Israel-Palestine issue. You have to be an ignorant dunce to think that the Palestinians are not suffering, have and are not being done injustices, to compare Gaza with developed western countries.
    Here’s an idea…read a book…or anything..that is not written by a self professed ‘Zionist’.

  15. In other news…upon PM Ben’s return, Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes in what is, under international law, considered occupied Palestinian land.

  16. Oh, and I can’t resist…Kate, the pancake reference was disgusting act of ignorance that could only have come from a confused and tortured mind. Be better. Have some class, get a brain.

  17. “In other news…upon PM Ben’s return, Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes in what is, under international law, considered occupied Palestinian land.”
What! Demolishing homes in Jordan eh?

  18. “Way to distort the Israel-Palestine issue.”-BTJ

BTJ,that whooshing noise that you constantly hear up high is not rockets on their way to Israel, but rational thought looking for a place to land. Plaese let us know if one even slows down near you.

  19. Kate you are truly wicked…loved the pancake link. The propaganda from the arabs is that because of the e-ville joos & the blockade, people in Gaza are starving and can’t build anything. Pools, malls, and restaurants prove otherwise. There was a scandal about a year or two ago that the cement that Egypt donated for rebuilding had been sold to Israel to build the wall.

  20. BTJ…so the ‘flotilla’ was actually a supply ship for the mall, not aid for the underfed, abused, tormented and suffering people in Gaza?
    Or not…
And just how is a picture of a mall distorting the issue? Oh, I get it…it’s a distortion of the bleak message we get thru MSM.
    Gotcha…

  21. Sort of surprised to see Zionist/American “Mollet Toilet Tissue” on offer along with boxes of London Tea(?) as a stuck on premium. Perhaps a hint to drink tea and boiled water to save on tt.

  22. BTJ, when a man stood in front of the tanks at Tienanmen Square, it was truly an act of an impoverished and brutalised man- one of many- against a totalitarian state. When white upper middle class Rachel Corrie stood in front of a bulldozer, it was her removing herself from the gene pool.

  23. a flotilla of Prada and celebrity Hollywood types diverted to Egypt , we know their true destination now.

  24. I hear nthe biggest problem thay have in those malls are customers who come in and try to “Jew” the merchants down!!

  25. //dizzy, Lisa Goldman works for the CBC maybe?
See if you can find me a nice breakfast sausage to go with my pancakes, won’t you? //
    +
If you bothered to cliick the link, you could not have missed the list of publications for which she has freelanced —
    They include Time; the Wall Street Journal, the Washinton Post, the Columbia Journalism Review;
The humour around here is flatter than any pancake.

  26. “but rational thought looking for a place to land”
Empty insults are just that…EMPTY. Let me know when you have something of substance to say.
“The propaganda from the arabs is that because of the e-ville joos & the blockade”
Right…and links from ‘elder zion’ isnt propaganda. Facts are facts, both sides have legitimate claims, Palestinians are OBVIOUSLY being treated poorly. Denying that is complete ignorance.
“it was her removing herself from the gene pool.”
Leaving yourself to carry on…god help us all.
This place seethes with Neo-con BS…ignorant pro-Israel oozings of delusion. Read a book. Taking any side in this issue is for mediocre minds at best.

  27. ” Taking any side in this issue is for mediocre minds at best.”

A fine example of politically correct thinking. BTJ,take 15 minutes to read the Hamas charter. It will be enlightening.

  28. You can pick up a store lease if you can prove you killed ten Jews for fun!

  29. Heads Up! When I tried browsing the gazamall website, I got a message from my firewall that it had blocked a virus. Be careful.

  30. “A fine example of politically correct thinking. BTJ,take 15 minutes to read the Hamas charter. It will be enlightening.”
Or maybe a fine example of actually examining the issue and not just forming an opinion based on select pieces of information.
There are many instances of Jewish Israeli’s voicing intent to essentially destroy Palestine.

  31. “There are many Jewish Israelis voicing intent to essentially destroy all of Palestine” says BTJ, in response to someone having the temerity to ask BTJ to read the Hamas Charter
Of course, according to Hamas apologists and the Palestine antizionist chorus “all of Palestine” equals all of Israel.
So what the genius BTJ is saying- without providing links and while glossing over the significant difference between the genocidally intended policy of the Hamas regime and some alleged Jewish Israelis who represent no one and certainly not Israeli government policy – is that there are many instances of Jewish Israelis voicing intent to essentially destroy all of Israel.
    BTJ is truly a luminary

  32. “the significant difference between the genocidally intended policy of the Hamas regime and some alleged Jewish Israelis who represent no one and certainly not Israeli government policy – is that there are many instances of Jewish Israelis voicing intent to essentially destroy all of Israel.”
Actually, the Israeli government policy is CLEARLY aimed at taking over palestinian owned land and keeping full rights for Jewish Israelis only. Israel seeks to be a JEWISH STATE, which by definition eliminates anyone who is not jewish (within the state). You need to read more.
