  1. Congratulations Ms. Thomas on an illustrious career spanning decades. Job well done. Long live CBC!

  2. I have mixed feelings on this. I’ve wanted her to get lost for years, but since this latest stupidity I would have enjoyed seeing her constantly front and centre, ugly and persistent, a living embodiment of the decay of Democrat values.

  3. . Being the oldest, she above all should have kept the lid open on ‘real’ journalism on the forefront instead of massacring it.
I hope that she spends her days observing the media and the biasness which she might find ‘shocking’

  4. No one at one time in this great nation lost their job over their opinion. As far as I can see that is what she stated…HER OPINION.
Should you lose your job for posting yours on this site???

  5. “Should you lose your job for posting yours on this site???”
No, she didn’t lose it. She retired. But, if held to Liberal standards, she would be persecuted if not charged for her “opinion”, right?

  6. CAS, in what fairy tale does nobody ever lose their job over voicing their opinion? Particularly when their opinion is that the Jews should all go back to Germany? Where they were exterminated like mice?
People lose jobs for wearing a Crucifix to work, dude. I should hope closet Nazis would get treatment at least as rough as Christians and gun owners do.

CAS, Why don’t you do some reading and find out what happened to David Akenahew and his Order of Canada when he gave his opinion at a cocktail party! Watch what you say, you never know who might be in the woodwork with a microphone!

  8. Brings to mind Dorothy Parker’s quip about Coolidge’s death:
    “How could they tell?”

  9. Let me guess … Helen will be retiring to southern Lebanon … replete with a celebratory retirement rockets.

Really ? Do the Dixie Chicks ring a bell ?

  11. Question; Are the Falasha supposed to go ‘back’ to Poland or Germany? And what about the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees from the Middle East and North Africa?

  12. She got off Scott free with a retirement, Hearst Newspapers should have fired her, I guess that shows what her employer really thinks.

  13. Gibbs solemnly pronouncing that her views have no support within “the regime” is a very curious thing to do. Unless she was reflecting what is precisely their long term policy. Remember South Africa’s Boer regime giving up its nuclear weapons to the USA and not opposing majority rule with a civil war in return for some secret deal could be repeated again with Israel.

  14. So long, you black-hearted, foul old whore. Don’t let the door hit you in the etc on your way out.
Interestingly, one of my Yank cousins wrote yesterday and referred to her as “famous for being a Jew-hater.”
The sort of person, we see, that T cheers for.

  15. What is it with people who believe the right to free speech means they also have the right to never suffer any consequences from what they do with their free speech?
A few weeks ago there was a waitress at a local restaurant who got fired because she badmouthed some customers on her Facebook page, and mentioned her employer by name. This actually made national news, as if it should be controversial that a business would decide to part company with an employee insulting its customer base. Helen Thomas’ decision to retire, obviously in light of this controversy, is similar in that we have people suggesting her rights were somehow violated. Sorry, but the right to free speech means the government cannot take punitive measures over what you say (at least here in the US…..for now). Private entities on the other hand are free to react as they see fit.

  16. To open another can of worms, I wonder what Thomas thinks of the ‘Palestinians’ who were thrown out of Jordan (Black September) and had to go to places like Lebanon and Tunisia.
Also, what about the ‘Palestinians’ who were thrown out of Kuwait after the first Gulf War.
And when are the Moroccans going to end their illegal occupation of Western Sahara.
Also, what does Thomas think about telling the Arabs in the Maghreb to go back to where they came from and return those countries to the original Berber population.
Also, many citizens of Israel are Ashkenazim who originated in western Turkey. Now wouldn’t that be a hoot if they were asked to return?
And the list goes on …

  17. KevinS: I totally agree.
If you have the right to say someone, then I have the same right to say that I disapprove with what you said to your employer.

  18. I think all African-American people should be granted Right of Return to their homelands, from whence they were sold into slavery by Muslim invaders, and be repatriated, and kick out the Muslims who can then retreat to the northern Sahara and if possible as far back as the Arabian peninsula. Or maybe Poland.
Yesterday, if possible. Of course, nobody HAS to go – but certainly it should be vigorously encouraged and made possible by any means necessary, and the people who do wish to return should be armed with AK-47s, vest bombs, and rockets. Muslims in Nigeria etc can go f*ck themselves; if they try to prevent the returning refugees from coming back, or in any way retaliate against rocket attacks, they must be condemned as terrorists and thugs by the world community. The creation of a blockade requiring inspection of any incoming vessel will be regarded as a humanitarian crisis.
I’m really inspired by this idea; as someone suggested the other day, I would like to return to Ulster and I expect to be given land. A house would be nice too.
Since I have both Protestant and Catholic ancestry I want to be free to launch rockets from my walled property at my Catholic (or depending on hy mood, Protestant) neighbors with impunity. If anyone retaliates, I’ll point out that I have children and that should settle their hash, the bastids.

  19. She must have had something on her mind that she wanted to say, then having said it…retired. Nice way to end a career.

  20. Something’s right in the world.
‘Just too bad she didn’t retire when she should have — a LONG time ago.

I like this idea. I think we should organize aid convoys for the oppressed Kurds of eastern Turkey. They have been oppressed and denied their right to nationhood for far too long. I wonder what tune the Turks would whistle if international groups sent “humanitarian aid” to the Kurds?

  22. As I always say KevinS – yesterday if possible. I also think the Spanish should release all their Madrid train bombing and (why not?) ETA prisoners, because it seems losing 191 people and over 1800 injured just didn’t get through to them. They actually LIKE terrorists.
“Spain condemned the attack, has summoned the Israeli ambassador for questioning. The Foreign Minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, decried the excessive use of force against an humanitarian convoy, and recalled that the European Union had already requested an end to the blockade.” – Wikipedia

  23. The old bitch was essentially fired by her employer for what she said. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. Ms. Hearst was quite upset with her comments and you don’t crap on your boss’s desk.
As far as those comments about the Dixie Chicks are concerned-what part of “public opinion” don’t you understand?

  24. Listen Up, Helen:
It’s time for you to go. You are confused. Perhaps it’s the first sign of Alzheimer’s disease.
Just go, please. It’s enough nonsense.
Don’t delay for your own sake…

  25. Contrary to popular belief; you can quite often judge a book by it’s cover. And while beauty might be only skin deep; sometimes uglyness goes clean through.

  26. I suspect the WH interpreted that enough is enough…..Helen just got way, way too bold….and crossed aline that the WH has been more than skating along for much too long.
The Bush WH referred to her as the journalist from Hezbolla…..and moved her to the back.
Obozo had her moved up to front and centre…..

  27. Scratch a liberal, sniff an anti-semite.
I’m glad the crone is gone. She is a vile creature whose only claim to that seat was longevity. She stopped deserving it when she stopped being competent for the job.
She got far more respect than she deserved. For that matter, so did Cronkite, Donaldson, Rather, Walters, and Koppel. Journalism is for people who couldn’t get into much less pass Econ, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or Computer Science.

  28. This will do to the “Official court Press”. What Dan rather did to TV news.

  29. I was going to say it’s nice seeing the back of her, but it’s not much prettier than her front. Bring back forced retirement; at least after 90.

  30. Sounder @ 2:19 PM: “No, she didn’t lose it. She retired.”
    Riiiight.
Sounds more like she was given a choice. Accept a demotion or retire or resign. Which is the better way to end your career? I don’t expect her employer wanted a huge scandal hanging over their heads for days and days and days, nor would she. At least she was at the age where she would have had three options given to her. Suggests to me that the MSM is acutely aware of the decline in their prestige and the verifiable attacks on their credibility.

  31. Besides, the most telling part of this lie is you don’t just up and retire one day. There’s usually some sort of big fete with plaudits and at least half-hearted recognitions from all around at least a few days in advance of one’s last day of work. The fact that she’s gone without any of that, and only days after her big faux pas gives the lie to that theory. I’m sure her employer booted her out with an appropriate severance package in recognition of her many years of service.

  32. T says “Leave her alone, just leave her alone bwaaaa”
    A #1 new Utube sensation.
