Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Good ad. Sometimes mocking humour is the only option when something very un-funny is happening.
The passive-aggressive blitheness shown by the Obama administration in the face of a problem the size of the rest of Americans’ lives is so dense as to obviate the effectiveness of any standard-issue, straightforward analysis. Not only have Eric Holder et al not read the law, it’s also as self evident as a slap in the face that they feel no requirement to do so.
The law is functionally irrelevant to this administration. Their agenda has nothing to do with the law, and the ad highlights that in a really effective way.
Here is the law sb1070s (I think this is the version that passed). It’s about 16 pages long.
http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/sb1070s.pdf
It does look like they have added a section saying that an officer can stop any individual if they have reasonable cause to believe that person is an illegal alien. The law does appear to be subservient to federal immigration law because this is a federal responsibility. It also looks like they have added stuff such that if the person is not an illegal alien then they can sue, etc., or if someone accuses them of being an illegal (whistleblower) and they are not. The law seems to strengthen the existing law concerning employers who hire illegal immigrants and situations where someone is seen stopping a car to pick up illegal aliens in order to employ them (I’ve heard that ranchers and farmers do this all the time if they need some short term help.).
The law has been handed to the US Federal Justice Department to assess whether it violates civil rights laws.
Read the law for yourself.
In a tangentially related vein, I caught an old episode of Fraser on TV the other night where he and Niles attempted to startup a haute cuisine restaurant. Of course things soon went from bad to worse for the two. When Niles mentioned that among the guests were some top government officials including someone from immigration, all the chefs assistants within earshot immediately fled out the back door leaving them alone.
That episode must be 15 years old but it succinctly captures the problem of today, that being the flood of illegals working in America.
A year or so ago the media and much of the Canadian population was all a-twitter over a couple of hundred illegal Mexicans landing in Windsor; so much so that the government slapped visa requirements on Mexicans coming into Canada. In Arizona they face a truly horrendous problem and Canadians are up in arms about their attempts to stop a serape-wrapped invasion.
Canada, thy name is hypocrisy.
‘Great ad with the Three Democratic Stooges. Has there EVER been a US administration as arrogant, irresponsible, and unaccountable as Obama’s?
I hope the accountability boot is put to them in November when they’ll be forced to eat humble pie.
They’re lying when they say they haven’t read it or been briefed on it. Of course they know what the law says. But to admit to that is to lose their cover for distorting the hell out of the law. Those distortions are carefully crafted parts of their campaign for the November elections: they will campaign on the Repubs being racist. Many Dems, including Obama, cannot get elected without overwhelming majorities of the black and hispanic vote. Trouble is, they’re losing the white independents. Well, let’s “hope” they are.
Where’s the media in this? Where are the reporters on the law beat telling us that the federal immigration law allows police to stop and question someone they suspect might be illegal for no other reason than that? Dumb questions, I know.
Here’s why they’re not reporting it. Krauthammer called this administration “lawless”. Yes, but that misses an important point: it’s not lawlessness if you understand the law as the “legal realists” do: just a bunch of rules to protect those who write the laws. The law is a weapon to be used in the culture wars against your enemies and for your friends. It’s called “Lawfare”. You could look it up. It’s embraced by Obama and his goons now running Washington. So understood, there is nothing inconsistent about refusing to enforce federal immigration laws; nothing “wrong” with establishing “sanctuary cities” that enact laws forbidding that enforcement, especially when you understand that one man’s “illegals” are another man’s fresh recruits, soon to join the battle and to cast their ballots in the right direction. Not only is it not wrong or inconsistent, they think its good politics. The media agree.
The progressive have to make a choice. You can not have a social welfare system, a progressive tax system and free movement of people. It will eventually lead to bankruptcy. So progressives make your choice.
Brilliant counter point politicing. I love the theme of the ad – that even children read better than Dems on a smear campaign.
Brilliant! Perhaps a follow up ad with pampers being delivered to the DEm Caucus room to sop up all the water from ultra vires pissy pants tantrums.
Here’s a good outline of how Mexico rids itself of its unskilled and impoverished class.
http://www.cis.org/grayson/double-standard
There are a few things to note:
There’s the Mexican rule: “that “El petróleo es el nuestro” (“The oil is ours”) – a policy, enshrined in article 27 of Mexico’s constitution, that prohibits “risk contracts” in oil exploration and development. Rather than having private firms invest in finding and developing hydrocarbon reservoirs – and possibly benefit from successes – the revenues of Pemex, the state oil monopoly, flow into the national government’s budget. This transfer means that there are far fewer pesos with which to provide adequate health-care, job-training, and regional development to uplift the 40 percent of the masses living in hard-scrabble poverty.”
NOTE: Mexico gets rid of its impoverished by sending them to the US, where they work and send billions back to support their relatives. This means that Mexico doesn’t need to provide any health care, education and regional devt for this sector of the population! The US taxpayer does this!
Then, there’s “the stranglehold that the STPRM Oil Workers’ Union has on the state oil firm, which is suffused by corruption, inefficiency, declining output, and feather-bedding. Pemex has roughly three times more employees than comparable private corporations. The visiting dignitary could even refer to the history of “suicidios petroleros” in which opponents of the union allegedly died by their own hand – with three bullets in their heads.
While on the topic of labor organizations, the U.S. chief executive might spend a few minutes on the SNTE Teachers’ Union, led by Elba Esther Gordillo whom the late scholar M. Delal Baer referred to as “Jimmy Hoffa in a skirt.” Not only has the union amassed a fortune that would be the envy of Midas by selling teaching jobs and peddling influence, it has damaged the quality of public education to the point that most middle-class families will make whatever sacrifices are necessary to enroll their youngsters in private schools.
Meanwhile, “la Maestra” Gordillo has placed hundreds, probably thousands, of her cadres into the Public Education Ministry where they can collects handsome paychecks every 15 days without even having to show up for work.”
Now, take a look at the corrupt political situation: “Mexico’s governors have immunized themselves from public influence. They now rule like latter-day viceroys thanks to a compliant press (whose owners fear losing state advertising), economic bonds to the private sector (whose members salivate for government contracts), blatant manipulation of states legislatures (whose deputies receive extravagant salaries and benefits in return for rubber-stamping executive initiatives), and malleable state electoral institutes (whose counselors owe their well-paying, prestigious jobs to state executives).
Of course, it’s equally difficulty for average citizens to hold federal officials accountable: neither the 500 deputies nor the 128 senators can run for immediate reelection; 40 percent of the former and 25 percent of the latter win election via proportional representation lists, which party bosses configure; these same political pooh-bahs along with governors personally select most of the other congressional nominees, without the inconvenience of open conventions and primaries; and independent candidacies are verboten.”
NOTE: Proportional representation removes the official from accountability to the electorate and the official becomes obliged to the political party that appoints him! Now, if that isn’t the greenhouse for pervasive political corruption – then…
ACE was saying that they all read it but won’t admit to it because then they would have to show specifically they object to. By denying they read it, they can say they have “concerns” with its repercussions without having to explain why.
Clever video, them again how about doing one
with a school classroom setting…
With the major players, Obama included, as students.
In effect, teacher would say ahve you read the
assignment or done the homework?
The reply would be no, then big F appears on the report or report card.
Mexico’s Immigration Law (General Law on Population)
• Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:
• Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:
• Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:
• Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:
• Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says,
• Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:
Constitucion de MexicoMexico’s Constitution
• The Mexican constitution expressly forbids non-citizens to participate in the country’s political life.
• The Mexican constitution denies fundamental property rights to foreigners.
• The Mexican constitution denies equal employment rights to immigrants, even legal ones, in the public sector.
• The Mexican constitution guarantees that immigrants will never be treated as real Mexican citizens, even if they are legally naturalized.
• An immigrant who becomes a naturalized Mexican citizen can be stripped of his Mexican citizenship if he lives again in the country of his origin for more than five years, under Article 37.
• Foreign-born, naturalized Mexican citizens may not become federal lawmakers (Article 55), cabinet secretaries (Article 91) or supreme court justices (Article 95).
• The president of Mexico must be a Mexican citizen by birth AND his parents must also be Mexican-born citizens (Article 82), thus giving secondary status to Mexican-born citizens born of immigrants.
• The Mexican constitution singles out “undesirable aliens.” Article 11 guarantees federal protection against “undesirable aliens resident in the country.”
• The Mexican constitution provides the right of private individuals to make citizen’s arrests.
• The Mexican constitution states that foreigners may be expelled for any reason and without due process.
To which Mark Levin says, put a HR Number on it and pass it.
That Arizona Governess not only has a load of guts. She shoots as straight as Calamity Jane. Meaner I bet too.
Obama you seen how it turned out with Sarah Palin, don’t make war on two fronts. Particularly when you gp up against Women who actually believe what they say. Bad things happen to Men playing “The cock of the walk”. In real life if a roaster does not preform the entire aerie of hens will peck the old. Now useless bird. To death, each & every one of them taking a turn.
