From the what the hell are they thinking file:

What better way for a devolving cradle of western democracy to say that 300 million victims of communism in the 20th century wasn’t all that bad, than send your troops to march in communism’s big May day shin dig. Good thinking Britain.
Another poll goes horribly wrong…
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/806698
“Do you think the federal government should fund Toronto’s gay pride festival?”
Yes (31%)
No (66%)
Not sure (3%)
Total Votes: 15772
I posted this in yesterday’s reader’s tips, however it was at the end ,and I feel it warrants another look. Ipsos-Reid has released a poll that indicates that most Canadians have swallowed the tainted tripe that has been masqueraded as GENUINE news over the last 4 months. We now believe that the detainee ‘crisis’ is real. We now believe, without a single name or incident that can be verified, that our military is complicit in war crimes. Peter Mackay and Walter Natasheyn(?)should be relieved of their positions and spend the rest of their lives being shunned…. If this poll is indicative of how Canadians across the country really think, therefore how easily they can be manipulated,we are in big trouble. The media has won. They elected Obama, they can elect Ignatieff,or Trudeau,or whoever they f’en want. http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=3006329

Looks like people are not as PC as CBC wants us to be.I wonder what this pole is going to look like in a month.Political terrain of Canada is now in flux Im very optimistic.Nothing like 100 proof reality to sober people up.Racial tension is on the increase stateside, the markets are going to cause everyone to pause and contemplate every expenditure carefully.Conservatism is going to be the new normal.War should be the fall back position now if history repeats.
what I said yesterday . but got deleted.

I just checked the comments in the administration interface for yesterday’s Reader Tips, Cal. Comments that appear “deleted” are still in the database, so I can still see exactly what was not published. Your bigjournalism.com link was not posted in Reader Tips by you or anyone else yesterday. Therefore, it could not have been deleted.
Nevertheless, Cal, you’ve been asked before and at the top of this page: please add a sentence or two or a short quote summarizing what we will find there and why we should care to pick the link. It is not reasonable, sir, to expect everyone to pick every undescribed link like we’re all on some sort of giant web-wide Easter-egg hunt.
I think it’s a good article, Cal.
That also means I think you should try to do a better job of selling it 😉
There was some more good information on the unfolding Deepwater Horizon story in an entry yesterday at Watts Up With That?, including some additional data on the sizes of historic spills, what happened and what’s being worked on, and Mark Levin’s call-in interview with a geologist who was on the rig at the time of the blowout: Lessons from the Gulf Blowout.
If you would like to hear violinist Ofer Falk play this same piece live and you’re in Southern Alberta May 27-31, check out http://www.fortmacleodinternationalfestival.com
just put back my own comments from yesterday about hydrates not being in the formation at this depth and not heating cement to seal it at this depth.
yes the MSM is out of their depth and the odd drilling engineer around here isnt.
Ok, your comment there is back, Cal2. In it you wrote, “at 5000 ft of water and 10000 ft of total depth this well is in waters drilled 20 years ago”, however, the article at WUWT states that they “had found oil 18,000 feet beneath the seafloor”, which would give us a total depth of 23,000 feet. I don’t understand the missing 13,000 feet. Also, don’t forget to check out the information on the hydrates problem from Doug Suttles, chief operating officer for BP, here at SDA. The CBC’s selected quotes from Suttle’s information say:
We’ve got hydrates, driven by a very deep well, at the ocean-floor level. We had a failure at (as far as we know so far) ocean-floor level. Therefore, it is premature to rule out the involvement of hydrates at this time. We’re engineers, Cal2. We understand this sort of stuff. Let’s not rush to judgement.

Now Texas is moving into the concern over the Obama administration’s lack of responsibility for US borders.
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/border-security-is-president-obamas-responsibility/2/
“in 2009 the Obama administration cut funding for needed technological upgrades to our border security infrastructure. And there were signs even before Arizona passed SB 1070 that the Democrats planned to create a divisive battle over immigration reform as a means of mitigating their losses in the upcoming November elections, and as a misguided attempt to woo Hispanic voters. They had no interest in doing anything or taking any action that would actually enhance border security. The Democrats wanted the battle to distract from their terrible record on the economy, federal spending, their partisan and misguided health care takeover, and other issues”.
Watch Obama and Democrats divert this issue into yet more racism. In his 2008 campaign, he made it clear that voting for him would expunge ‘white guilt’; this 2010 campaign is another similar road. The strategy is the same: prevent criticism and use emotional manipulation to put people in your control.
Morning All
I would like to apologize for my rant on Saturday Afternoon,
Vit, please accept my apologies my rant was unacceptable towards you, you are just doing your job to maintain a quorum.
Kate, thanks for getting back to me on my email explaining the situation, & like i said i will be more dillegent in posting to reader tips.
Once again to All please accept my apology for disrupting the readers tips, I was having a terrible day at work & that is No Exuse to act like a kid on here.
Have a great week all.
Wallyj: Yes, I agree that the media has done a snow job on people regarding the detainee issue. That is because they are always focusing on getting the “scandalous” headline and exploiting stories for shock value. Here is a link to a critique from Saturday that busts some of the myths around the detainee issue: http://tinyurl.com/386x5ce Unfortunately, because it was published in the Citizen it is not likely to get National exposure — while the poll certainly will.
Another point is that when people see what other people are thinking they climb on board. How else to explain the global warming nonsense that went on for years. There was simply no coverage of the side of the argument that challenged global warming. We are indeed in trouble.
Fouad Ajami, Islam’s Nowhere Men
‘A Muslim has no nationality except his belief,” the intellectual godfather of the Islamists, Egyptian Sayyid Qutb, wrote decades ago. Qutb’s “children” are everywhere now; they carry the nationalities of foreign lands and plot against them. The Pakistani born Faisal Shahzad is a devotee of Sayyid Qutb’s doctrine, and Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, was another….
The Islamists are now within the gates. They fled the fires and the failures of the Islamic world but brought the ruin with them. They mock national borders and identities….
Charles, you are so right. Here’s a link to “Why the Ground Zero Mosque Must be Stopped”, over at American Thinker.

I see that the Queen of the Cloacal Aperture has been fulminating in the Guardian again.

So my wife completed the Vancouver Sun Run yesterday…10k in the second largest timed 10k in the world. We had fun watching. But I wonder, with 50 000 people breathing heavily downtown, did the organizers buy Carbon Offsets?
CBC’s Peter Mansbridge will be interviewing Helena Guergis tonight. This fits the liberal agenda to portray the Conservatives as anti-women.A month ago the left was screaming for her head, now that she can be used against the gov’t,she has become a victim of mean Mr. Harper. No link to the interview, but it will be on the National.BTW,funding has allegedly been cut to 20 womens groups, how many groups does the country have or need?
wallyj: Many more women’s groups were funded than were cut. Here’s a list: http://tinyurl.com/23bxewz
The ones that were cut were pretty much lobby groups or otherwise ineffectual in terms of how money was spent.
Mansbridge probing why she was removed from caucus I none of Mansbridge’s business. That’s not a governmental issue. it’s an internal party matter and thus, none of Mansbridge’s business. And as for dumping her from cabinet, well, how interesting that the CBC was echoing calls for her to be dumped on her airport incident and staffers sending emails. Those two things alone were sufficient reason enough for the Liberals shills at the CBC to cal for her ouster. But now, now they’ve co-opted her as one of their many useful idiots (let me be clear: she’s not an idiot) to try and attack the Conservative gov’t, portraying her as a damsel in distress, wrongly treated by the evil Harper. It’s like David Frum, speechwriter of the “Axis of Evil” SotU speech that the CBC so hates. Now that he’s on the outs with the Republicans, now they find a redeeming quality in him. Ditto for the NDP. When the NDP open fire on the conservatives, the CBC stands back. But when the NDP begin to siphon votes from the Liberals, CBC turns on them, too.
I hate to see Helena used by the CBC. Hope she realizes what their agenda is.
I really liked her response to Mansbridge’s question if she though she was treated fairly by the media. Oh,wait a minute, that wasn’t asked.
