  5. CBC has a story,closed to comments for the usual reasons,about one of the Toronto 18. He claims that he was always against terrorism. Hmmm,isn’t that like an impaired driver saying that he is against alcohol being consumed?

  9. Just heard on FOX that one of the statements tonight from obama’s speech is that ‘Americans face not a deficit of finances but a huge deficit of trust – in Washington…..that has been building for years.’
    Incredible. Think about it.
    What an elitist statement. He’s insisting that the people TRUST him and his policies…without debate or argument…because ..just because.
    Oh, and remember his insistence that Congress pass the stimulus and the health bills without reading or debating them..just based on TRUST in him. Thus denigrating Congress/the American people..to passive recipients of His Orders.
    Notice also that he is, yet again, blaming Bush. He’s blaming the current lack of trust in Obama, not on Obama, but on the result of the Bush years.

I live without TV, have indoor plumbing, central heating, air conditioning, and electricity, and I have not lived through depression or world wars; I am rarely lonely, do not fear of terrorist attack, do not obsess over the latest fashion or gadget, and do not suffer from unrealistic dreams being crushed because I knew from day one that I had to work to get what I wanted. Not only that, but I have the benefit of continuing advances in analgesics, antiseptics, antibiotics, and anesthetics, and a plethora of other modern technological advances. Therefore, I am better off.

    As Matt Ridley wrote, in 2003:
