    Nuff said.

  2. Al Gore went to Copenhagen and … lied !
[ Perhaps Mr Gore had felt the need to gild the lily to buttress resolve. But his speech was roundly criticised by members of the climate science community. “This is an exaggeration that opens the science up to criticism from sceptics,” Professor Jim Overland, a leading oceanographer at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.]

Canada Freezes As Snow Storm Strands Thousands

GORE and Suzuki say Canada must kill economy to make the world a colder place.

  5. Macleans cover today was about Canada’s great enviromental embarrassment in Copenhagen. A check of Copenhagen’s on-line English paper has no stories about this. Nada, zilch, zero. So who is upset and embarrassed? It appears that Maclean’s and others are lying to push the progressive agenda. —http://cphpost.dk/component/search/canada.html?ordering=&searchphrase=all

  6. The Wages of Climategate
Climategate is all the worse because it was unexpected. The warmists really did think they had it wrapped up, that they had pulled off the AGW fraud and needed only to formalize it at the international level to guarantee themselves a free ride. This was never quite the case — polls showed increasing public skepticism as various warming horrors failed to materialize and the day-to-day weather grew cooler. But the warmists had corralled the bureaucrats and politicians, and that, they thought, was all they needed.

  7. Al Gore LIED? Only if he opened his mouth. The whole thing is so weird it could be a Hollyweird Movie.

  8. “Canada Freezes As Snow Storm Strands Thousands”
Has anyone attempted to make the argument that since Canada would in fact gain quite a lot from global warming — warmer temps, more productive farming, improved tourism, etc. — we should NOT be expected to contribute $$’s as much as others since we are already sacrificing many benefits. In fact, we should be given dollars for carbon credits, since we contribute a great deal of cold to the world — that has to be worth something in this nutty world.

  9. Just so ya know. At 10pm CBC news is running a show called “Can Obama Save The Planet”.

At around 9:25 Newsworld aired a report about the enviro-nuts who illegally occupied James Flaherty’s office. From the five minutes I saw, the footage showed the group at all stages of their operation–planning, training for counteracting police actions, going to the office, occupying the office, being peacefully removed from the office while another stage-managed “supporters” demonstration happened, and sympathetic interviews after their release.
So the CBC either was complicit in all of this from the start, or gladly aired the tiny group’s own footage as a free infomercial.
I hope the CBC doesn’t have PETA or ALF and pipe-bombing on its list of approved groups and approved tactics unless they’re going to warn me first where the “infomercial” is planned to be carried out.

  10. Whoops, talk about bad timing — the latest issue of Golf Digest features a cover shot of Tiger Woods and Obama, promising to reveal ten things that Obama can learn from Tiger (about his golf game, I presume). Yeah right.
The story inside makes for rather ironic reading, for example, one thing Obama can learn is “to be ruthless” (not Elin-less), and one thing Tiger can learn is “to lighten up.” Yes, rather.

  11. Here’s a breaking story on Wattsupwiththat:
    http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/12/14/doe-sends-a-litigation-hold-notice-regarding-cru-to-employees-asking-to-preserve-documents/#more-14177
The U.S. Department of Energy has just ordered that all employees “….please preserve any and all documents relevant to “global warming, the Climate Research Unit at he University of East Anglia In England, and/or climate change science.”
It seems that some litigation is pending.

  18. At one point on Saturday night, Edmonton had the dubious distinction of being the coldest place on Earth. Edmonton’s frigid temperature was exceeded by a station in Siberia where the lowest temperature measured on Saturday night was -48 degrees. Edmonton’s -46 degrees was 2 degrees off the coldest temperature ever recorded for the Airport. Set back on January 26, 1972, the coldest temperature recorded is -48.3 degrees. Saturday also saw the coldest low ever recorded at the Airport in December.

  20. A Christmas Tale of Then & Now
    Then (the old days):
To send gifts to friends who live in other communities around the world, I would have to purchase gifts at stores by early December, wrap them up, and then stand in line for hours at the local post office where folks with permanent frowns behind the counter would show me how much they disliked their job and often me.
    Now:
I went onto Amazon.ca & Amazon.com, picked out the items I wanted, and within a few minutes, divide up who was getting what, each order well organized for each recipient.
This year I’m sending a particular new book to my Canadian & American friends. It is much cheaper at Amazon than at the local Chapters store (and I won’t ever use Chapters.ca again because of a dreadful, unapologetic experience I had with them a few years ago).
    Summary:
I have fond memories of Christmases past but buying gifts was not one of them!

  22. mj’s Times Online article is worth a read. So are the nutbar comments, like this one:
    Nancy Bowring wrote:
Meat production is one of the leading causes of climate change. It causes pollution, deforestation and other environmental disasters. If everyone at least made an attempt to cut their meat consumption by beginning with “meat-free Mondays” the impact would be huge. There are many varied and delicious vegetarian recipes to tempt those who earnestly want to save the planet. Gradually meat free could become meat free weeks. Try it!

    “The Noughties: a fond(ish) farewell
Toby Young takes an irreverent look back at a decade characterised by a yearning for chaos.
I was in a French ski resort on January 1 2000 and the first thing I thought about, when the fog of the previous night began to clear, was the Millennium Bug. Deputy US Defence Secretary John Hamre had predicted it would be ‘the electronic equivalent of the El Niño’.
Just how many planes had fallen out of the sky at the stroke of midnight? I plugged my laptop into a phone socket and heard the sound that will forever be associated with the turn of the century: ‘Eeeeee, orrrrrrrrrrrr, ooo-a-ooo-a-ooo-a-ooo-a.’
There was a pause. Had I got through? No, I hadn’t.
‘Eeeeee, orrrrrrrrrrrr, ooo-a-ooo-a-ooo-a-ooo-a.’ Dear God, how I came to hate that sound.
When I discovered that absolutely nothing had happened I felt vaguely disappointed. On the face of it, that makes me sound like a depraved nihilist – I was upset that a global disaster hadn’t occurred – but it was a sickness shared by many and, though I didn’t know it at the time, symptomatic of the decade to come.
One of the most striking things about the Noughties is that when terrible things did happen – when planes really did start falling out of the sky – we greeted them with barely concealed excitement.”

“Ignatieff’s Liberals sink to a new low
Between an animated crapping bird and this picture below, I’d give the edge to this pic as being the new low in juvenile partisan stupidity – the PM fisting a cow (NB: read the fine print, he’s not wearing any pants): {…]
“Where is it from? Liberal.ca the official website of Michael Ignatieff’s Liberal Party.
It’s up there as part of a photo contest put on by the Liberals. One other entry jumps out too – not so much for being juvenile, but for being unbecoming of a major federal party. In this picture you can see the PM apparently shouting out in pain as he’s being shot.”

“The Liberals posted these pictures today – December 14th. Not that there’s a good time to publish things like this, but to do it today, right after that attack on Berlusconi – the one attributed to an atmosphere of poisoned partisan politics – it’s ignorant:
“I am very worried by this escalation of hatred against a single person,” said Senate Speaker Renato Schifani, a close Berlusconi ally.
Even left-leaning commentators who have led anti-Berlusconi campaigns over his corruption trials and personal problems acknowledged the attack represented a symbol of political tensions that had boiled over dangerously.”

  25. I couldn’t fall asleep so I decided to catch up on Roy Green’s guest appearance on Charles Adler’s show. In the first hour he took a large number of calls.
One came from a fellow named “John” from Alberta. Clearly a Leftard, he stated, “Let’s face it, even the most conservative politicians in the U.S. know that Cap & Trade will have to be adopted.”
This is clearly a lie. The premise is a lie. The attribution to American conservatives is a lie. Yet it so easily rolled of the deceitful tongue of the Alberta Leftist. Do you think such people “know” they’re not telling the truth or have they so deeply fallen down the rabbit hole that they no longer even realize it?

  26. On Monday’s Adler Online show, Roy Green interviewed NDP leader, Jack Layton, in the second hour. Jack raved about how the blue-green coalition (ie. labour-enviros) were fully in support of Cap & Trade to implemented in Canada.
    This reveals an obvious joke:
Q: In Canada, when you mix blue with green, what colour do you get?
    A: Red. Destructive Socialist R-E-D ! ! !

“Canada Leading Indicators Rise Almost Twice as Fast as Expected
Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) — Canada’s index of leading economic indicators rose almost twice as fast as economists predicted in November, led by gains in housing and manufacturing.
The index increased 1.3 percent, Statistics Canada said today in Ottawa, while economists surveyed by Bloomberg said the index would gain 0.7 percent, based on the median of 11 estimates.
Nine of the index’s 10 components rose and one was unchanged, marking the broadest increase in more than two years.
Canada’s economy grew at a 0.4 percent annualized pace last quarter after three earlier declines. Output will expand 2.6 percent next year after shrinking this year as monetary and fiscal stimulus revives demand, Royal Bank of Canada, the country’s biggest lender by assets, said yesterday.”

  32. Robert W -Presently there is little more except Alex thinks that Carole in union with Surrey’s Dianne Watts would make a formidable team. I, having lived under Ms Watts’ first run as mayor and her recent decisions on not to act in the monster housing building code boondoggle, tend to have misgivings about her suitability. That said Alex certainly knows his municipal politics better than I, and most others on the subject.

  33. A little anecdote here.
I work in a scientific office and a discussion was just occurring right in front of me–I was more a passive observer. The discussion was about a study that was done about 10 years ago, the results of it and the decisions that were made based on the study. More on this in a second.
The discussion went deeply into how a lot of the decisions in our organization are made based on “feeling”, rather than science, how ignorance is rampant and “we’re giving the ignorant a forum to spout their ignorance”. The people having the discussion cited as an example climate change, where they’re clearly AGW swallowers. They talked about “how the science of AGW is sound” and how decisions thereon should be made on this “sound science”, just like they should be in our organization.
They then went on, without a hint of irony, to discuss how this earlier study in our organization was invalid because it was based on a small sample–12, to be exact, whereas in such a study you would usually look for 50 to 100 samples before coming to any conclusions. No irony about this example of invalid science when juxtaposed against the Briffa samples. Sorry, sample (singular). And these people are scientists.
I tell this story to show that there’s an alarming amount of cognitive dissonance out there, even amongst scientists. I don’t think these people I work with are bad people or bad scientists; I think it’s more that they’ve been so indoctrinated by the AGW alarmists that they can’t see the contradictions in their own definition of how science is done.
That, or maybe they have been so sheltered that they don’t know about Briffa and hiding the decline…

  34. The “Yes Men” pulled a hoax on Canada. Roy Green just had an African woman named Bernadette as a guest. She was one of the hoaxers.
How “charming” for her to wave her proverbial finger at us, scolding us for being such horrible world citizens. Why doesn’t she turn around and start criticizing the legions of African dictators & kleptocrats who have taken Billions of Dollars from Canadians and stolen it?!
Why not??? Because that would be difficult. And one thing we’ve learned through this entire Copenhagen farce is that it is MUCH easier to criticize Canada and the U.S. than it is do anything else. Pathetic!

  35. Elizabeth May just stated on Roy Green’s show that she has read ALL of the e-mails from East Anglia and she has found that they’ve said & done absolutely nothing wrong.
    Aren’t you so relieved?!?
