    Shouldn’t the question have been asked of the Canadian system, asking why so many Canadians go to the US for medical treatment. And why is the primary site for medical research – in the USA? And why are most innovative treatments and drugs developed in the USA? And why does Canada then copy these drugs…to sell at a cheaper cost – since Canada doesn’t fund the research costs.
    And why do we Canadians have to fund the production of garbage television like this?

    2) Sarah Palin
    3) George Bush
    Now I’m of the opinion that if they line the watermelon helmet with tinfoil, (enviro-friendly, from recycling smart cars) that the Tar Sands would be the top.
    However, if the copper wire on the legs gets too tight , (getting the messages from the mother ship)it could be a toss up between George or Sarah.
    Now there just has to be some sort of scale, akin to the ‘Reichter Scale’ for sheer mind bending froth.

  13. Just listening to CBC in my car is enough to cause me to start swearing at times. It amazes me that the poisonous crap that they produce goes on, and on and on.
    When is there an end to the disgusting and depressing crap that they produce? It seems that it’s primary purpose is to depress the listeners, right across the board. All negative, all the time.
    And funded by tax payers?

  18. Mary Walsh mostly plays nutty, gross characters. I’ll never forget the time she, on 22 Minutes, while in character, scratched her butt and smelled her fingers, wholly outside any apparent context. She just thought it’d be funny or something, but it was gratuitously tasteless.
    She’s a prime example of the wastefulness of funding the CBC out of our paychecks against our will.

  20. By the way, I saw her in person, actually, when she was in town making a movie nobody’s heard of. Was standing in line at a coffeeshop and sluttily had her hands all over some guy she was with. Boorish REAL-LIFE behavior as well as on the telly. Geez!

  24. They used to call people like Marg Delacunty, and the other clowns who run the 22 minute show … ‘Court Jesters’. But now they are simply ‘State Comedians’. They are paid by the state to make fun of the more adult conservatives of the world. After all, they are a creation of the Left.
    Their careers ended years ago, but once you have a good government job, it’s hard to get rid of you.
    They are overpaid and not funny. If the state didn’t hire them, they would still be cleaning fish in Newfoundland.
    I’ll bet Marg’s feet stink. She has that look about her.

    The best thing to come out of this was Palin’s statement on the Canadian health system! It was brilliant.
    Why does CBC (Walsh)get away with calling Palin a liar? CBC are lying thru their air waves daily.

For those who are wondering why the question of Canadians going to the US for treatment isn’t being asked, and the question why Canadians can’t find doctors, and have to wait in lineups for surgery etc.: for all we know, these topics were raised (shouted), but you can be damn sure any of that would be edited out.

  29. Codco was funny for about an hour. A second rate replacement for Wayne and Schuster, yet the CBC managed to spin off an entire line up from those goofy newfies. Mercer is a tool, Walsh is a clone of Homer Simpson’s sister-in-law, and the other one(I forget her name) can’t even make it on CBC primetime.
    Yes, I’m embarassed, but I’m trying to suppress that feeling. It only serves to imply some sort of connection to these people, and that isn’t really the case.

  34. Some comedic sketches are timeless classics, and then there is the umpteenth time of Mary Walsh trying to be funny. It was okay for a giggle back in the 90’s when the show was new but this is embarrassing for all Canadians. Abe said it best about these “State Comedians” sucking off the taxpayers left teat instead of getting a real job.

    Journalism is parasitic by its very nature, earning a living from a free resource (your news story) – The CBC then is the ultimate form of this… consuming tax payer money and giving nothing back.

And as for Palin being “liar”, it shouldn’t be too hard to prove after the 11 fact-checkers assigned to examine every word in her book are finished. At least she got her answer from Sarah. A better one would have been she didn’t know comediennes had tenure in Canada.

  48. This is what the CBC considers “funny”?! Walsh,Mercer,the whole damned gang should all be fired and have to make it on their own in show business, in stead of being supported by our tax dollars.
    I started watching “Corner Gas” a few years back, on the advice of another blogger. At first I didn’t like the show, but after a few episodes, the characters and situations grew on me. Now I watch it every chance I get.
    Can’t say the same about ANY CBC production since “The Beachcombers”.

  49. Anyone who knew walsh and company back in the Codco days and rick mercer when he was doing skits at the LSPU hall knows that these people were as socialist and anti-corporate pro-union as one could be. They were all members of the NDP and on the far-left part of it at that.
    Someone should ask walsh and mercer if they are still
    newfloundland nationalists after all these years of being federal government employees.

    Now if Sarah Palin were to get up from her book signing to pay special tribute to a Canadian television personality wouldn’t that make her more like an elitist than a ‘woman of the people’. What a moron.
    I’ve still got some hope for Rick Mercer though.
