Meanwhile, the timed-to-Copenhagen drumbeat of manufactured alarmism continues to rise unquestioned by a media too stupid to realize that increasingly large portions of their audience are already 7 days into this file. And that their late-to-the-game pronouncements about “a few emails” only reveal that they’re too damned lazy to look for themselves.
Yesterday, the emails were lying. Today, the satellites are lying.
Because a guy in a boat says so.
I feel as though I’ve woken up inside a Michael Crichton novel.

  1. My greatest fear is that PM Harper will go “with the floe” in Copenhagen and fark Canada for the foreseeable future. That leaves conservative thinking voters with nobody to vote for come next election.

    Precisely. If the peer review process is corrupt, then nothing that is issued in a scientific journal can be considered untainted.

  17. The more time I spend analyzing this issue, the closer I come to the conclusion that the main problem with the computer climate models is that they try to cover far too many bases.

    Nah, the computer models were never anything more than hopped up Nintendo games designed to aid the Flim Flam Mann.
    Just a visual aid to sell the con, the electronic version of the actor in the lab coat in the TV commercial selling you patent medicine that doesn’t work.

  19. Of course, our esteemed professor never gave his co-ordinates or GPS track of his ‘rotten ice’….
    If he is such a brilliant fellow, why didn’t he show where he went excatly? If he was traversing along the edge of the ice flow, is it any surprise that he was going thru immature ice? Or, as previously mentioned, through a track of ice that had already been ‘shipped’?
    As well, for somebody SO educated, he might also realize that the ice pack moves, and rotates with current and wind. Therefore, whatever he was looking at in terms of satellite imagery, may not have coincided with his location.
    Again, the lack of details he gave is staggering.
    If the ship had of been travelling due north, towards the pole, there might be some credence given to him. As is, he certainly didn’t make that claim.

But follow their logic: they claim that “The entire report writing process of the IPCC is subjected to extensive and repeated review. There is, therefore, no possibility of exclusion of any contrarian views, if they have been published in established journals or other publications which are peer reviewed.” So it looks like their entire case for AGW now rests on the fact that all of their articles are peer reviewed, and any contrary evidence will only be considered if it too is peer reviewed. I think it’s time to get the few members of the MSM who will report about this to focus on the hijacking of the entire peer review process. Topple the peer-review pillar, which we now know is faulty, and their whole argument comes crashing down.

It’s important to bear in mind that Mann’s “reconstructions” are somewhat misnamed, since as pointed out by the authors of “Taken by Storm” they are in fact, constructions i.e. there is no gold standard set of temperature records to which their proxy results can be compared. Since no one was around compiling temperature records with thermometers for most of the period over which Mann’s graphs run they are utterly unverifiable with respect to their accuracy — especially not to within the arbitrarily chosen confidence interval displayed. In short, they are guesses — educated guesses (although now even that appears to be in grave doubt) but guesses none the less.
