    Instead of, what, ‘science’ !!??
How cool of him ! Because of him, Canada could be ripped apart – just to be moral, ya see.

  2. karen “The west should separate from Canada. No question.”
    Dream on!
while you’ve been wasting your time and breath with “separation” your great leader Ralph Kline was busy attending the Bildergerger meetings.
Spare me this West is holier than thou nonsense. Isn’t “Steve” from the west?
Steve I think I’ll sign on Obama’s dotted carbon credit line first chance I can get?

  3. First off, I suspect Quebec will not have an issue with Alberta separating so long as it continues with the transfer payments.
Second, I don’t think separation will be accomplished without bloodshed. Central Canadians do not respect us and they will not respect our sovereignty.
Thirdly, there is no separation movement in western Canada. Alberta has the semblance of a movement but Saskatchewan and BC are not in the plans. People in all three provinces, but especially Saskatchewan and BC need to get off their arses, learn some history and make some decisions. You can’t wait for Albertans do it for you.
Finally, the Americans are experiencing a similar “culture war” but unfortunately for them their conservative culture isn’t concentrated like it is here in Canada out west. There may be potential in the future to work with states that are book ended by coastal states who share similar values.
The sooner central Canadians realize that Alberta’s desire to separate isn’t about money, the sooner Canada can make progress on western alienation. Our grievance is about culture and values; the money is just a symptom. You are welcome to your new age progressive baby murdering woman hating self-loathing pedophile loving terrorist helping Mike Vick and household pet hating hypocrisy. Just understand that we think you’re f’d-up; and if you want to push your crap on us you can go f yourselves.
As soon as you get that, then perhaps we can work together towards a stronger Confederation.
    Btw, jjm
I’ll take two seats in the Senate and equal and elected representation any day. Oh yeah, property rights would be nice.

  4. Wait a minute. There may be hope after all. Time for a rethink ?
[Centrist Blue Dog Democrats might see their position strengthened if Democrats suffer broader electoral losses, one Blue Dog member suggested Tuesday.
Rep. Jason Altmire (D-Pa.) argued that an election night rebuke for Democratic candidates across the nation could lead some in the party to rethink their plans on healthcare reform and other issues.]
    Including global warming.

  5. Last Dec. we were one Governor General decision away from western separation. Three of the wests premiers held a meeting with the forth on the phone and the referendum question was drafted for a spring vote. Yukon, NWt and Nunivat asked to be included and were invited. I say bring it on, Harper was a great Western Prime Minister, but the PMO and party brass have corrupted him. He would make a great President in a free west.

  6. Having lived in central Alberta during through the NEP I saw the effect it had on individuals and business. Previously successful businesses quickly crumbled. Anything to do with the oil patch, transportation or service into those sectors was hit fast and hard. Some people lost everything and blamed in the East.
The West will never let that happen again. Ever.

My sworn oath will not extend beyond the death of Her Majesty and am prepared to accept whatever repercussions before I ever genuflect to George VII.

I pray the longevity of Queen Mary will be passed to her daughter and we are witness to a Prince’s requiem before a King’s coronation.

“The green image of hydro power as a benign alternative to fossil fuels is false, says Éric Duchemin, a consultant for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). “Everyone thinks hydro is very clean, but this is not the case,” he says.
Hydroelectric dams produce significant amounts of carbon dioxide and methane, and in some cases produce more of these greenhouse gases than power plants running on fossil fuels. ”
    Shut down Hydro-Quebec!!!

  9. A well reasoned commentary from Rex Murphy, as expected.
While we all love to rant about big business getting into bed with the green advocates, how about actually doing something about it!
The report was funded by the Toronto Dominion Bank, why in heck would any westerner, northener or maritimer associate with a business that has Toronto in its title. Show your displeasure and cancel any accounts you currently have. It does not matter if there is much money in it, a sudden “run” against the bank would get the attention of Drummond and the government. In todays economic environment the panic it would start in the banks boardroom might convince them that there is a voting bloc worth listening too.
I urge you to vote with your money. FREE THE WEST.

  10. blanks;
Your ignorance is truely breathtaking. Not content with having made a fool of yourself with the assertion that the deRothschild’s fortune is 500 trillion dollars, an amount that is 10 times the size of the economy of the entire planet, you now talk of Ralph Klein attending “Bildergerger meetings.” The correct name is Bilderberg you simpleton.

  11. “I have been a monarchist for ever, but that wing nut Prince Charlie can get lost.”
I too have been a lifelong monarchist, but Charlie has liberated my inner republican.

  12. Oz and Po’ed:
Why should the WAP be afraid to speak the truth on the scam that is AGW? It is nothing more than a leftwing policy plank and wealth and power redistributionist scheme, and I’ll bet that more Albertans believe its a scam than believe in AGW.
Because you fear the media will label them? They are going to get labelled anyway, so why not take the lead on the issue and get it out there?

  13. Rex certainly does get it but read the comments. Pathetic. Big Green has brain wiped a whole generation.

  14. Ward
The Conservatives have almost all of the seats in western Canada already. The Conservative song and dance isn’t for us, it’s for central and eastern Canada. The Conservatives are depending on western apathy, they are “throwing us under the bus” as they like to say down south. Too bad the Liberals aren’t bold enough to capitalize on this.

  15. I am still waiting for someone to ask the LITTLE Green in Canada, aka Lizzie May, what effects her proposed $50 a tonne carbon tax would have had on the economy of Canada. Maybe blanks knows?

  16. blanks: getting your worldview from Youtube videos is the surest way to not get taken seriously by adults. Yhat Rothschild bullshit is 19th-century anti-Semitism rehashed by modern-day Nazis. The total value of all real wealth in the world is roughly 100 trillion dollars, for one thing.
I’ve wasted hours I will never get back arguing about “Zeitgeist” with no-lobes 19-year olds in forums – let’s not do it here.

  17. I would be 1st to admit to being a “no-lobe” but too argue that because the 500 trillion figure may be an exaggeration = Rothschild’s are being picked on because of their part Jewish ancestory is Moe-lobe.
Zeitgeist, what’s to argue, it’s part of the global warming/climate change, sign Copenhagen club?
    David deRothschild supports that effort.

  18. blanks;
Saying the Rothschilds are worth 500 trillion isn’t an exaggeration, it’s so far off the mark as to qualify as flat out lunacy. It says to me that if you aren’t an anti-semite, you’re a naif who swallows whatever gibberish happens to be floating around.
You’re wasting your time running your nonsense by posters on this blog. Try the Daily Kos or some such lefty blog where you’ll be in the company of other semi-literate knuckle draggers like yourself.

  19. I’ll be moving out west if the Red-Green Menace gets its way.
The israelis built a wall to keep out scum so maybe we can wall toronto in, as an alternative.
And meanwhile, REAL climate scientists(non guv) are noticing we’re within a hair of a fullblown iceage.
We need a constitutional amendment to keep politics out of classrooms til grade 10..Only the 3Rs!!

  20. dear bob c
your right about one thing “this isn’t the place” and
not that you would know because no one really does, what is the net worth of Mayer Amschel Rothschild’s grandchildren?
    Mr. know it all?
(9 x the U.S. federal debt) x Interest plus the city of London squared plus Washington DC minus any expenses which are o.
sounds like a reasonable start but don’t forget they also control all the finances of the Vatican which is also a “known unknown”.
one could formulate but I think saying more than any other humans on earth would be the under statement of the century or millennium.

  21. $50/tonne carbon tax = Obama/Baird//McGuinty Cap and Trade plan.
    in a simpleton’s way

I was hoping that I could get it in a more relevant way as to our economy. But hey, thanks for the effort,we’ll see if we can get you a ribbon to match your helmet.

  22. If the west does go its own way I vote to keep the monarchy as well. Hey we could call ourselves the Western Kingdom…..we would be called Westerners then!!! Of course Prince Chuck is a disappointment but the what the heck. If we got rid of democracy ever time a politician disappointed us or was a goof we would have given up on it years ago. Plus I’m so sick and tired of seeing a never ending attempt to destroy ALL of traditions. Alot of that was started by PET and his attempts to do away with our Royal traditions. Hell any of our traditions.

    “a more relevant way”
ahh, Put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye, hope that helps?

  24. blanks;
    A few points;
1 Quotation marks are used to repeat precisely what someone said. I have not used the words “this isn’t the place” so quotation marks are inappropriate.
2 Perhaps you missed the point in school, but the purpose of language is to convey a thought. When you say things like, “(9 x the U.S. federal debt) x Interest plus the city of London squared plus Washington DC minus any expenses which are o”, you fundamentally fail in that exercise. You don’t impress anyone other than a 14 year old with pseudo equations of that sort. You just make yourself look like silly.
3 No, I’m not a know it all. That is why I fact check things. Give it a try sometime and you won’t fall for it when someone tells you that any individual possesses the equivalent of 10 times the world’s GDP. That was was a monumental error on your part that made you look really bad and did nothing but discredit whatever point you were trying to make.
4 As you have said, the Rothschilds have assiduously kept knowledge of their worth a secret. So no, one cannot “formulate”, extrapolate or calculate what that worth is currently. What you are engaged in is nothing more than uninformed speculation.
5 From what I’ve read, the Rothschilds were billionaires or close to it a hundred years ago. It is from that that some think they must be worth far more today. Perhaps, but two world wars and the great depression happened between then and now. Some wealthy people became even moreso during those times, but others hurled themselves from windows because they were left penniless. You have no idea where between those extremes to place the Rothschilds. Don’t pretend otherwise.

  25. “while you’ve been wasting your time and breath with “separation” your great leader Ralph Kline was busy attending the Bildergerger meetings.” from Mr. (I hope he is shooting) Blanks. ———–“Listen hear son,I say,I say,the correct spelling is Klein, and he was attending the ‘Build a Burger’ meetings. Now run along,I got me some hens that need some attention,if you know what I mean”.

  26. Single Malt 12:34 Even Gormley said at the time that it was time to consider it (separation).
Wingwalker 12:41, my sentiments exactly. My paper says “Elizabeth the Second”, not a George Soros flunky.

I am a western sepratist Ward. However, it might be best to keep our powder dry, while Eddie flames out and the WAP attempts in three year’s time to replace the PC’s.
In any event, the federal PC’s might as some post “throw us under the bus” on the green dream in the interim, in which case Ms Smith is bound and determined to protect Alberta’s interests. If separation becomes an option, I don’t see why the Party shouldn’t begin the process. But they have to take the reins from Eddy first.
Why start a fight, when you can finish the one started by somone else?

  28. Wallyj said, “Now run along,I got me some hens that need some attention,if you know what I mean”.
I’m doing my best not to imagine that.

  29. Why get your shorts in a knot over this. There is a piece of legislation in the Charter called the “not withstanding clause”.

  30. blancs: I don’t give a hoot about Ralph Klein as I don’t live in Alberta. The west isn’t holier than thou but we are certainly in a much different place than a lot of the urban Ontario/Quebec folks. We value different things and have different priorities and we’re sick and tired of being towed along down paths we didn’t choose through disproportionate representation in the House of Commons.
Just a note to Indiana Homez, when the Liberals brought in the long gun registry and there were stirrings of separation in several provinces, it was Saskatchewan (not Alberta, Manitoba, or BC) who polled the highest percentage of population wanting to separate.

  31. I wonder how a Maritimer would like living in a Canada, minus the western provinces. I mean where their 25 seats in Ottawa, were up against 60 in Kwebek.
Guess whose dog would wag the tail ….permenantly?
Sometimes you need a few friends.

  32. The WAP is already cast as a “fringe, right-wing party” by the media that counts, in places that believe that the status quo should rule.
    ~po’ed in AB
    True.
But very few people are aware that AGW is the scam that it is and any competing candidate could get in a cheap easy shot at the WAP, to the exclusion of other issues, if global warming were to be a high profile issue in a race.
The “fringe, right-wing party” label the WAP is getting from the media is understood by voters to be because the WAP are too conservative, which is a good thing.
The cumulative effect, as each shot opposing candidates take at WAP on the issue is publicized, would be bad as it would make the WAP look radical in a bad way, out of touch with “popular” wisdom, instead of radical in a good way.
Because you fear the media will label them? They are going to get labelled anyway, so why not take the lead on the issue and get it out there?
    ~ward
Simply put, it hands the opposition candidates as individuals a ready-made talking point, and no I wouldn’t bet that most voters are aware that AGW is a scam.
As individuals, the opposing candidates can just hammer away at this single point and make hay with it, with the assurance that the media will pick up the statements made by each and every opposition candidate, giving them exposure.
Even if the WAP candidates, as individuals, can answer back effectively, it’s an uphill battle to educate the voters and you can be sure the full effective answer the WAP candidate might give wouldn’t be reported in it’s entirety.
The AGW battle is emotion vs facts, and the facts take a lot of cranial sink time for the uneducated.
We all know that emotions make better soundbites.
