One Size Fitt All

I was pulling together my outfit for today, and found this.

Made in Vietnam. No, really.
Update: My apologies for the slow blog day. As soon as I got home, I had to head straight to work on a billboard.
I would like to publicly thank Kathy Shaidle for providing me the opportunity to render this particularly noxious fellow speechless for a full five seconds.

  1. Who commissions women’s hats with gimme-peaks designed for big, strapping trade or agricultural guys? Plus, real women don’t wear pink. Otherwise the hat is attractive. My “W” hat for the ’04 election had just a white “W” centered on the cap. Quite stylish.

  2. Can someone take names and addresses at the door so the Canadian government knows who to divide the 50 billion dollar debt amongst? The US Commander in Chief sure let that one slide far to long.

  3. I think you should be wearing a Palin “rogue” gamo hat instead of that pink “fluff” piece.

  4. Not to mention the ahem, obvious…
Currently the Chinese find the Obama image superimposed with Mao so funny that others there can make a profit selling items with this image, so you just can’t account for others sense of humor or lack of knowledge.

  5. “Can someone take names and addresses at the door so the Canadian government knows who to divide the 50 billion dollar debt amongst? The US Commander in Chief sure let that one slide far to long.”
I am quite sure, Question, that the supporters of GWB would happily assume the $50B debt, if supporters of BHO happily assume the $1.0T debt. Deal?

  6. so are all sociology and “women’s studies” classes canceled for the day at the University of Saskatchewan? or is social work at the UofR canceled for the day for the bus ride up north?
I’m not surprised to see where the hat was made, but the irony ranks right up there with the best of irony.

  7. 700 billion dollar to GWB supporters.
20 trillion dollars to BHO supporters.
That is if you don’t count who sat around while the hole was being dug.

  8. It really is too bad that Pres Truman didn’t support Vietnam’s original bid for independence (from France). This could have all been avoided–and thousands of Vietnamese and Americans wouldn’t have died in a really pointless war. And the U.S. would have had a geopolitical ally on the Asian mainland from the end of World War 2. The Vietnamese Army, by the way, was able to hold their own against the Chinese in 1979 (one could almost say the Vietnamese prevailed).

  9. was McCain a POW , for 5 years, 5 months or 5 minutes , the MSM just didnt dwell on it long?
I remember NBC reporting it as 5 months.

  10. “The Vietnamese Army, by the way, was able to hold their own against the Chinese in 1979 (one could almost say the Vietnamese prevailed).”
Not least because they were the best and most experienced military in the region at that time!
(Incidentally, that bloody nose the People’s Liberation Army received at the hands of the Vietnamese provided a bit of a kick-start to overhauling the Chinese military.)

  11. Yep in 1979 the vietnamese Army was a formidable force.
Cambodia was easily over-run and the killing fields were liberated and the Kymer Rouge driven into the jungle.
The PLA invaded the North and made a penetration of about 50 km and after a time, after sustaining major losses of men and material, withdrew—-they said they had “punished Viet Nam enough.”
This event inspired the PLA to extensively modernize, rearm and reform. Bascally China learned the same lesson the Red Army learned in the “Winter War” of 1939 with Finland.

  12. Took a stroll past the ‘protest’ during my lunch break. Too bad it was dwarfed by the crowd of people waiting to get in.
A crazy Guy Fawkes moonbat made the walk totally worthwhile.

  13. Bascally China learned the same lesson the Red Army learned in the “Winter War” of 1939 with Finland.

    What?
That an Army travels on it’s stomach so you’ve got to provide security for your field kitchens in cold weather?

  14. Back in the sixties the mere mention of Vietnam conjured up things like the Ho Chi Mhin trail, communism and napalm.
Today when I think of Vietnam I start to salivate. Thai-Viet food is great. Has anybody tried the Krispy noodles and chicken?

  15. I don’t know where Sarah Palin’s presidential run hats will be made, but I’m sure none of them are going to be pink.

  16. Re: JJM at October 21, 2009 2:52 PM
Sadly, I dropped my blackberry in a puddle this morning. If I can scare one up from someone else I’ll be sure to post it.

  17. A large number of contractors and bankers were very happy and profitable with GWB’s Presidency. Someone let me know how many standing Sieg Heils the attendees give GWB.

  18. I have a begrudging admiration for the north vietnamese. gawd they took a pounding for 30 years and did not quit.
it was something of a pleasant surprise when they did not initiate a bloodbath in the spring and summer of 1975.
tenacity. we could all learn some of that.

  19. No, it’s the Obama people who have followed der
Fuehrer. Starting with the speech at the
Siegessäule in Berlin (which should have finished O as a
public figure in the US – demonstrating that O has no decency),
the O people have used Nazi
    propaganda methods, advertising graphics
influenced by Nazi models, explicit encouragement
to think of O as the great Leader (the pledges to
Obama; the schoolchildren singing songs to him,
etc.; straight out of the Nazi textbook). And then
one comes to the question of whether Acorn – well,
the only question is whether Acorn is more like the
SA or the SS. Time will tell.
And, of course, the overall collectivist approach
to government. To be followed, no doubt, by
Obama doctors, taking short courses on the same
model as the Nazi doctors of WWII (what was it?
two years from beginning of training to graduation?)

  20. I was looking for Kate’s pink hat but didn’t see it.
There was a guy there protesting with a sign that said Bush is a Pussy wearing a pink bunny-hug though.

  21. The protest was quite lame.
It could have used bit more cow bell…
    Bush’s speech was very good.
It was like listening to an adult talk.

  22. Not to worry! The Vancouver Olympic souvenir flags they will be flogging for $12 are made in China…

  23. Bush’s speech was very good.
Except the part where let Paulson and Bernanke off the hook and said they were smart guys. Hey, I understand he didn’t want the legacy of being tagged with starting a depression, and doesn’t want to slag the Oneterma’s administration… But pleeeeze! spare me the excuses for falling into that reverse rat trap.

  24. Guess which media outlet’s estimate of the size of the protest was 50% larger than the others?
Hint: Waste of a billion dollars a year.

  25. What a great statement that hat makes!!
Although I saw it over my first coffe at work today and had to spend 5 minutes wiping my desk and monitor off. (good thing IT has a supply of replacement keyboards handy)
Kinda like yin/yang in political bumper sticker milieu political awareness. Of course the inherent objects of the mockery are not going to get it. Too bad eh?
    So, how was the event?
Have any of the predictable persons of protest thought of anything new to say yet?

  26. Vietnam Manufactured Hat – $1.25 with embroidery.
US Manufactured Hat – $9.50 with embroidery. Plus Enivronmental Impact Fee + State Tax + Federal Tax + Made in America Union Marketing Charge + Fuel Surcharge + Safety Testing Fee + Interstate Commerce Fee + Recycling Fee + Imported Thread Surcharge + Cotton Growers Climate Action Levy + …
Irony of McCain Hat made in Vietnam – Priceless.

That and using southern troops in a northern theatre. Using political commissars instead of professional officers……eg Ratt Road…..

And what bubble did you pull that from. Re-education camps that resembled killing fields???

You and curious george should really accept that the COLD WAR is over…and your side lost….

  29. rmgk
yes I knew, but the MSM understate his years there by a factor of 12
the demo is, Obama has zero commitment to the US of A. and his experience was less than running an icecream shop with two flavours.

  30. speaking of things republican, a.k.a. judged by the company you keep, this dude was dubya’s pick for head of homeland security and now is in jail in NY state:
    http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/21/keriks-mug-shot-is-released/
    from the item:
“Mr. Kerik, who was also city correction commissioner and, briefly, President George W. Bush’s choice to head homeland security, was sent there by a federal judge who said Mr. Kerik had leaked sealed information from his future criminal trial as part of an attempt to generate…”
and still sda raves on about how great georgie was.

  31. “Thought my TV would explode.”
The reporter was actually quite funny. Didn’t know who I was until the brief interview was over, and got my name. She said she reads the blog all the time, so she can’t be half bad.

  32. yo, bigfoot: if you have a reliable source that 2,000,000 south vietnamese died in a viet cong version of the khmer rouge killing fields post 1975 pullEEESE post it. otherwise you need some lessons in math and history.
and get off that ‘ifn ya aint fer me yer agin me’ track.
