Go east, young man, to where the deer and the big screens still play…
Peterson Publishing’s Guns ‘N Ammo Magazine head office has finally admitted they can’t take it anymore and moved from their LA Wilshire Blvd. address to Peoria Illinois. I can’t imagine why they went to Illinois when Arizona is only a couple hours drive from LA, but nevertheless, they’ve pushed off from the People’s Republik of Kalifornistan. Just like everybody else with a lick of sense.

The very really scary part is California is closest to Canada in the way its so leftist. We could very well be them if not for Harper & the Conservatives. Doers anyone doubt the Liberals would have been an Obama lap dog? I mean there just like Chicago only in French. Just to much in common in power mongering with a lust for riches & control. I feel for Americans. Like us during Trudeuopia watching their Nation being De-constructed for a radical Marxist ideologue.
Made the trip & never want to go back.

The funny thing is that these people seem to deeply believe that you can tear down the pillars, and the roof will somehow just stay suspended in the air.
Another thing I have noticed. I live in a place that gets lots of Canadian tourists. You guys are starting to drive nicer cars than us. I don’t know what that says about our relative economic trajectories, but I think it is something. Canada’s economy is, to a great extent, based on commodities, which are somewhat inflation proof.
The Nevada Development Authority video… not that they’re doing much better there, but the point is easily taken.

Great guvernator parody…

Why Illinois? Illinois is another corrupt, gun-unfriendly state teetering on the verge of bankruptcy.
“The funny thing is that these people seem to deeply believe that you can tear down the pillars, and the roof will somehow just stay suspended in the air.”
Nice line. It’s like the government really has no grasp of basic economics. They think the money just shows up in the bank and they spend it. Don’t understand that taxes pay for everything and if you drive away the taxpayers then you have no taxes.
And anybody who’s ever run a business before will tell you, once you lose customers it’s very difficult to get them back. So even if California reversed all the stupid decisions they have made over the last 10 years it doesn’t mean the businesses will return.
Good move. Kalifornia as no place for 2nd amendment exercise. With disarmed citizens and armed criminals, this is the new Washington DC of crime.
I’m sending off for my son’s paperwork to establish his dual citizenship. If for no other reason then when we go through customs I don’t get a friendly soul from the CBSA badgering me about it. The other reason being the ability to flee if the rails truly come off down here.
But then I ask myself what happens up North if the roof falls in down here? There is more trade that goes across just the Ambassador Bridge then exists in total between Japan and US.
“But then I ask myself what happens up North if the roof falls in down here?”
You know, there are actually people out there who ask why I spend so much time on American politics. I consider it less a question than an IQ score.
Kate said “You know, there are actually people out there who ask why I spend so much time on American politics.”
“Just because you don’t take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you”. Pericles
“Not broke enuf” Perfectly summed. Only when the Dems discover they have nothing left will they start looking for alternatives. Until then, let the stupidity roll on!
Canada will soon follow. When the US tanks, there will be no one left to buy our inputs. (Gotta have people buying outputs to keep up demand for inputs.)
Kate and gord, bang on. The U.S. is being Trudeauized at the moment and we need to keep an eye on the developments south of the 49th.
Time lapse of jobs created and destroyed since 2004 in the US .
The National Post reported this morning that Ahhhnold is considering banning large screen TV’s because they use too much electricity. According to the article, large screen TV’s and ancillary “gadgets” use up to 10% of the electricity consumed in California.
Can you imagine what will happen when Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin can’t watch themselves on their 60″ plasma sets? The horror, the horror…
The irony is that Arnold was the best they could do….
I’ve been accused of racism and a few other ‘isms but I’m still walking.
There has been much debate as to how the europeans over a brief portion of history came to dominate the globe.
The notion that firearms made the difference is rubbish because these simple devises were swiftly adopted by the aboriginals.
The notion that christianity gave them the edge is also nonsense.
What makes sense is that Europe has a temperate climate, with relatively mild winters forcing hoarding away reserves while providing a productive climate the rest of the time.
The problem California may have is it’s mild climate encourages a careless lifestyle.
I have noticed Canadians establishing very successful businesses in the Caribean—-for about 10-15 years and then they put their feet up (go native) as well.
The bottom line is the “California Lifestyle” is fiscally unworkable—much like communism.
Kate, thanks for linking to my bloglet. 🙂
What I’m taking home from all this stuff is, the gloves are off, baby. Three or four big DemocRat scams are coming apart all at once, and these guys are panicking. Gun control came apart in the 1990’s so that’s gone. Global warming is over, the social justice thing is being revealed as more of a joke every day, racism is confined to the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and centrally planned economics just went off the rails last year.
So they are panicking and grabbing all the power they can, as fast as they can. See that frantic, glazed look on Ms. Pelosi? She’s freaking out because her comfy scams are all busted.
They’re like bums at the buffet when they see the bouncers coming to throw them out. Stuffing all their pockets with roast beef while looking over their shoulders.
I think people are missing the point when they see leftist governmetns in teh US screw things up.
Remember, they hate capitalism. They want to see its destruction. It appears to me that the socialist plan is on track for California and the US of A.
With the banning of plasma TVs and all things electric, in teh name of the envuironment, the hippy government of California is hiding the fact that there is an electricity shortage due to their own policies.
Which, incidently, were deliberate – see previous posting.
RW, I agree. That’s kind of what I’m saying. Just that lately the stealth campaign has had the covers ripped off, so IMHO they’re going for broke now.
Rats are most dangerous when cornered.
Time to move the Pacific Fleet….Why support a Communist State? California shares a certain destiny with ancient Crete…..
Yakking with people via innertubez in California is an eye opener, in the least. Outside of LA&SF it’s like some guy in the country down the road, yet get close to the big city and hangon to your ballcap…wow
Slap shot:
Buddy, the Pacific fleet is HQ’d out of Pearl.
I got home yesterday from another trip down south.
We spent a few days with friends from Redding, California and our reactions to the American take on this issue is startling.
3 out of 4 Americans we spoke with are very frightened by what is happening , both in California and Washington. They do understand that Countries and States can go bankrupt.
Culturally and politically, California is not a single entity. A huge split exists between Norther and Southern California.
The huge amount of jobless people is sad to see. A lot of those individuals are on the move,
Simple because they have no home or work available.
We talked at length with a State park worker in Oregon and he felt lucky to have a job, as he had to leave California parks because they had no money to pay him.
Over the course of many years, we have watched and read stories and philosophical debates with regard to massive poverty and hunger.
To watch a society teeter on the edge of chaos
is a frightening experience. The real tragedy
is that the crisis is for the most part “self induced”.
Regrettably, what is happening is that the political leadership is pointing the finger at any one other then themselves.
For myself, I am forced to think about analogies here at home. What would provinces do without transfer payments? Why do Canadians from one part of Canada have to pay for failed political choices in another part of our country?
In the end there is hope (not the Obama style).
Saskatchewan has turned on the lights and elected a new positive Government. Alberta news today demonstrates that people can create a new initiative for change in the “wild rose party”.
Perhaps if the State of California did go bankrupt it would force the electorate to choose more wisely. Even the terminator hasn’t got the job done.
“But then I ask myself what happens up North if the roof falls in down here?”

Right you are Kate! Ze Peeples Republik Von Cullyforjna is headed for for a crash. It’s been years in the making as the Democrat majority got nuttier and nuttier. Sad thing is neighboring states benefit from government excess. A new big screen TV market will flourish in Reno no doubt. I would advise you Canadians to divest yourself of things Cullyforjnian until after this Idiocracy collapses and the old California rises from the ashes (I hope). As the Phantom notes all the sane people are leaving the state. No need to light any fuse as a house of cards never lasts long.
