Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and in particular for those listeners who may have a chance to tune in on Friday but not have a chance to visit SDA Late Nite Radio again over the Thanksgiving weekend, here are Baz Luhrmann and a female vocalist whose name I would like to know performing Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen) ¤ in 1999 (7:10). This single is the most well-known form of an essay titled “Advice, like youth, is probably just wasted on the young”, written by Mary Schmich and published in the Chicago Tribune as a column in 1997.

For our friends in more equatorial climes who are wondering why we in Canada are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend, well, you see, Thanksgiving is a harvest festival, and given that it has been snowing all day in Edmonton today, about a half an inch so far, I’m sure you can now see how it is more than time for us to get on with it 😉

Congratulations, Yukon Gold! What a blessing! After our first daughter was born, under very difficult circumstances (she’s a miracle, frankly), the nurse brought a stool over to my husband and said, “Sit down. We don’t need another patient.”
In some ways — that’s only SOME ways — I think labour and delivery are harder on the guys.

YRC Worldwide’s Canadian subsidiary, YRC Reimer, formerly known as Reimer Express, closed its operations in Edmonton, Alberta, after Teamster employees there refused wage and benefit reductions, the Edmonton Sun reports.
YRC Reimer President Clayton Gording told the newspaper 55 to 60 truck drivers and warehouse workers would be affected. The vast majority of Reimer’s employees accepted wage and benefits cuts, he told the Sun. “It’s a tough economy and people have to realize this,” he said.
