  1. Migraine? How dare you! It’s the Canadian Wheat Board’s grain, sister, and don’t you forget it!
But seriously, I hope it doesn’t last. I’ve never had to endure one, thank God, but I have nothing but sympathy for those poor souls that do.

  2. Most effective drug I’ve ever taken for mine is called Maxalt. Wafers that you dissolve on your tongue and the initial ‘lost my will to live’ pain is usually gone within 5-15 min.
I’ve had migraines all my life, though they’re decreasing in intensity and frequency now. I’ve also tried many medications (Imitrex, Sibellium, Zomig), but I swear by Maxalt now!

  3. Just remember, it’s not you, it’s your metabolism. (TV ad on all the time here, maybe not there, dunno)

  4. Kate, you may be under the influence of brain slugs. This condition is often confused with liberalosis. Please be careful, and bite my shiny metal ass while you’re at it.

  5. Migraines really suck.
TJS – so does “Family Guy”.
Shaken too much at @2:38 – yes, I blame you too ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Only some friendly suggestion for Migraine:

Changes your color paint or wear mask when you painting can go through mouth and noise some are toxic
    Check with stress doctor
    Take B complex and multivitamin
    Try Acupuncture Chinese therapy
    Do exercise
    Do the allergy test
and talk to nutritionist to give you food reduce your headache
Just take it easy and relax and do not worry so much
take herbal tees or some herbal from middle eastern can help too
check top to bottom of your inside organ since all are related such as check blood test and blood circulation to your head from your heart and cholesterol check
Read up to date research about your problems and see which doctor made new medicine
If you have time to do all!

  7. Take care Kate, and get over it soon. My daughter gets about one a month. She swears by 1 T3 taken with 2 shots spiced rum.

Heh. That sounds like fun, headache or not! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. I know how miserable they are. I’ve found the 5HT agonists or ergots to be particularly effective and fast in the relief they provide (barring contraindication). Get well soon.

  10. Wow! No shortage of remedies here.
Rather than just treating the symptom, does anyone know how to treat the problem, which I suspect is overexposure to Professor Ignatieff!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Get well soon!

  11. I’m a Zomig rep! Take a couple of ibuprofen and a triptan/5HT agonist (but not Maxalt! haha I’m kidding). The fact is one triptan may work better for one person and another works best for someone else.
Treating it as early as possible is beneficial and increases efficacy, speed of relief, and reduces recurrence and side effects as well. The ibuprofen increases effectivenss and actually reduces recurrance as well.
I know they’re not cheap, but neither is missing a day of work. Could try a walk-in clinic; you’d probably get a couple brands to try.

  12. This from BBC should make you feel better
    Pause in Arctic’s melting trend
    breaking news
This summer’s melt of Arctic sea ice has not been as profound as in the last two years, scientists said as the ice began its annual Autumn recovery.
At its smallest extent this summer, on 12 September, the ice covered 5.10 million sq km (1.97 million sq miles).
This was larger than the minima seen in the last two years, and leaves 2007’s record low of 4.1 million sq km (1.6 million sq miles) intact.
But scientists note the long-term trend is still downwards.
Arctic temperatures have been cooler this year than last year, researchers said, and winds have helped to disperse the sea ice across the region.
The data is compiled from satellite data at the US National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado.
Scientists there note that at the 2009 minimum, the ice covers 24% less ocean than for the 1979-2000 average.
Also, as noted last year, a much greater proportion of the cover consists of young, thin ice formed in a single winter that is much more prone to re-melting than the older, thicker ice that dominated in years gone by.

  13. “Migraines usually go away with old age, like 55. So, give it time.

Mine is 59 and she still hasn’t gone away…OUCH(whimper, hide)

  14. Oh noes! You’re missing bodybag-gate! That incompetent health minister forgot to send Delisle its shipment of Advil didn’t she? Oh well, at least you probably have a surplus of air sickness bags or something in town.

  15. Kate…you so seldom say anything about your personal life.
Hope you aren’t reading these messages…’cuz then you wouldn’t be resting your eyes to get rid of the migraine.

  16. Thanks, everyone. I’m closer to normal, now though my eyes are still under the influence.
Thanks also for the helpful advice… but no, I didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary, and unfortunately, everything I can take makes me puke with the exception of ibuprofen, which I couldn’t locate this morning, so I’ve just had to just let nature take its course today.

  17. I wonder if it is something in the air today. I got one ,and a co-worker also.As someone mentioned earlier, they do occur less frequently with age, this was my first in about 9 months. I find codiene and darkness to work the best fdor relief. Hope yours stay away for a while,a long while.

  18. Didn’t George Carlin say that migraines (“my-graines”)should have been called “your-graines”?

  19. Glad to hear you are feeling better Kate. The family has figured out to stay quiet when Mom’s wearing sunglasses in the house. That seems to help. The vision thing is most annoying. Reminds me of an Alice Cooper concert I would rather forget.

  20. I should have said too that the Maxalt wafer and the Zomig Rapimelt are both great if you’re nauseated since you don’t need water to take either of them, which is quite often enough to make you puke.

  21. Gen. Lee Wright:
I second your comment.Maxalt is the way to go.I’ve had these awful migraines for over 30 years and for the first time in my life Maxalt provides actual relief. This is not a plug ๐Ÿ™‚ it really works.

  22. I wonder what’s worse, having a body bag and not needing it …
Who thinks the gov’t jinxed the tribe? Bad omen? Sent the Thunderbird after them?

  23. Kate! I had headaches for years. I take two tablespoons of Canola oil before going to bed. Eat lots of fish. Prairie people often have Omega oil deficiency. Your memory will imporove, and you’ll sleep better. Sweet dreams.

  24. What??? new is now our ‘healthcare’ advisor? God help us!
And remember… ‘check top to bottom of your inside organ…’ that’s just plain kinky.
    BTW, best wishes Kate.

  25. Glad your feeling better Kate. I have had migraines since I was eleven years old. I get cluster migraines quite a bit. The only thing that works for me is codeine, if I catch it before it becomes full blown.

  26. I have had them since I was 5 years old, so over 40 years. Excruciating pain – hospitalized on three occasions. Good ol aspirin use to work when I was a child or simply dip my head in cold water and lie still in a dark, quiet, and cool room. Now I pretty much take codeine daily. Don’t like that – gives me foggy brain, and I don’t like caffeine. Do you need a perscription for triptan or the 5htp someone mentioned? I would not mind looking into that.
Glad to hear it eased away on its own.
