Searched Leaving The US

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Financial Times, July 23rd, 2009Barack Obama has restored America’s global standing to where it was before the Bush era […] The Pew Research Center’s annual global attitudes survey indicated that people polled in 25 countries now had a more positive attitude towards the US.
100 yds south of US-Can border, August 2nd, 2009Armed US Border Patrol Agent: “How long were you in the US? Where where you visit? Do you have more than $10,000 American in cash on you? Do you have any drugs with you other than prescription drugs? Did you leave anything in the US? Did you buy any ammunition? Do you have any pepper spray, tazers? Unlock your doors please…..”

  1. Me thinks some folks here doth protest too much. Like Ol Country Boy said, “They are exercising SOVERIGNITY.” It’s thier country gum dang it all so cowboy up and just get-R-done.
The days of Canadians being just like cooler cousins has long since gone. Remember the LAX bomber? Got his passport in Montreal like a whole lot of others in his cell. Some guy was found to be picking up and signing for a half a dozen different folks there too. Never heard what happened to all that.
btw, if I was of a mind to, I’d rather drive some old dirt road in the Quebec backwoods or Stubble Jump Saskatchewan than try to swim a bloody river in Mexico.

Couldn’t agree with you more! The US rightly doesn’t want our Muslim terrorists, and we sure as hell don’t want the illegal aliens that will be popping up like jumping beans as the US economy spins out of control.
Close the damned border, before everyone losses!

    Thanks for answering my question.
How many other blog site hosts are on no fly lists or have been intimidated as to such. Important issue to those who travel outside the country on a regular basis. AJ mentioned he could not visit Canada, which is very interesting. Bob Rae restricted in Indonesia. Sure would limit the dog shows. Is this “list” a libel???

  4. This happened to me and my son about a year ago crossing the Niagara river at Buffalo. I’m pretty sure it was currency they were looking for. You are allowed to take as much money as you like but you have to declare amounts over $10K. It’s all about hiding income from taxes, not particularly drugs or weapons or anything like that. On my day, every car pulled over was a grey van, so I figure they had a tip

  5. keep our oil, keep our wheat , keep our water. sell to anyone who will buy except the u.s. see how long it takes for all those sucking off the goverment teat to go tits up.

  6. An 60-ish aged, grey haired relative of mine was strip searched getting on a plane to go from St.Louis to Calgary. We thought is was because they didn’t want to be accused of racial profiling and this was their way of proving it. They searched Grandma and her luggage for explosives!

  7. I live right on the border in southern Ontario and many Americans are complaining about getting grilled when re-entering the U.S. even with passports.

  8. Kyla: Tried using PAL for ID at Royal Bank – they do not have that option on their computer system when opening a new account. But they agreed to use Mastercard (no picture!). Go figrure.

  9. Live on the border and we do get stopped occasionally when coming home. Not as much fun crossing the border as it once was.
Used to be “A” border patrol agent for this area now there must be 20.

  10. The US border patrol is inspecting regular traffic and commercial traffic leaving the US at Emerson,mb or Pembina, ND as well. It started soon after Obama came in and appointed Secretary Janet Napolitano. Today I was leaving the country and coming into Canada and had to go thru the xray machine. Apparently the Mexican government complained that the Canadian border is not being treated the same as the Mexican one so that is the reason. All I can say is that it is going to get worse. On a long weekend the border at Pembina, nd here has quite a few Manitobans heading to Grand Forks or Fargo, Nd. I crossed at 10:00am and there was a small line up of maybe 50 cars, usually it backed up about 1/2 mile especially with the back to school specials and the favorable dollar. The US is just plain nuts now.

  11. “…..the Mexican government complained that the Canadian border is not being treated the same as the Mexican one……”
Would that be because of the millions of illegal Canadians many with infectious diseases crossing during the night, or the frequent murder of US border guards at the 49th?

  12. @ Knght 99, and leaving tortured bodies in the desert, er tundra.
Traveling outside of Canada is not looking like much fun these days.

  13. “Not sure this “juxtapose” makes any sense, Kate. Crossing the border has been like this since 9/11.

While I agree that this is a typical kate non story, they have been prescreening people leaving the US for cash for 20 years in my experience-real common at Niagra. they also search every 200th vehicle entering the US according to the border guy who searched me a couple years ago coming back into the US at the thousand island’s bridge. whatever…

  14. Totally legit outbound inspecion authorized by United States Code. These are very effective in getting undeclared cash which can be prosecuted as a federal crime or handled administratively. Usually the money is proceeds of illegal activity. also Canada benefits from this, asylum applicants are suggled into Canad in the trunks of cars. Marijuana money-south, Cocaine money north

  15. I expect U S Border Guards to enforce the law. While it’s better if they’re courteous, the law must be enforced.
My husband and I were treated rather ingloriously by a Canadian border agent at Windsor, unshaven I might add, who yelled at us as well. We were tired after accidentally visiting friends in Sudbury on your Thanksgiving Day. All those miles, bumper-to-bumper, on a two-lane highway after catching some sort of flu only to be confronted by this nimrod was too much to expect.
When it is all said and done, what hits the U. S. will carry an extensive ripple effect to Canada. Don’t get too smug.

  16. “Don’t get too smug”
Missed something there. No one is being smug, or anti American on this site. Anti liberal, Anti Obamba, Anti Democrat truly but not anti American.
We are well aware of the third world and Islamic invasion coming our way, it’s already begun, nothing smug in that.
