  1. MIghy Oak – you’re a sick f-ck you puke. Its to protect children from a$$holes like you that kids have curfews.

  2. Well, besides the fact that the cat’s owner should be shot for letting their pet loose, there is no reason to show this video. Yesterday I was a few cars back as traffic came to a screeching halt at what appeared to be a dog/car encounter. Try as they might, the four legged victim managed to scurry away from the would be rescuers.
As to the dog vs cat thing, all animals, including the two legged humanoid kind have that same look as they encounter being in the midst of traffic. most of the time they don’t know what to do and the driver doesn’t know what the animal will do either.

  3. When there are as many comments as this on important, consequential political posts, I’ll take your opinions seriously. In the mean time, try prioritizing your fake-offense. First, baby seals, second, polar bears, (but just cubs, they photograph way cuter), third, a tie between the spotted owl and the Amazonian tree frog. So as you can see, domestic cats are way down the list.

  4. …somewhere Gary Dunford is smiling…
Well I suppose it is called “the roadkill diaries” for a reason isn’t it?
So here’s my tally up untill now… more or less.
Dogs: 5. Most recent one was a largish shepard of some sort that jumped up at the last second and took out the headlight on the right side and most of the chrome bezel
Cats: 7 or 8 I think, most of them unintentional
Deer: 2. one was quite tasty as I recall, the other pretty much mincemeat (courtesy of the snow plow on the front of my old Power Wagon.
Moose: Not an actual hit, just barely sideswiped the big bugger one foggy night about 3 am. Had to change my underbritches after that one
Coyote: One, they are really fast around here
Coons, possum, skunk (eeyuk!!), and other assorted rodent types: Dozens
Latest trophy: a good sized turkey, just outside of Lindsay, Ontario. Man, those toms got lots of plumage, I was blowing feathers out of the air vents for a couple of weeks…
But by far the best was my brother who took a turkey vulture smack in the chest whilst riding his Triumph Trident north of Wawa a couple of years back. Knocked him out cold, woke up about six hours later in a ditch. Took us another 4 hours to get the bike out of the swamp 400 yards down the road from where he got hit. Yeah, they will travel on their own for a bit sans rider when your doin’ about 120k…

  5. How old is a 10″ raccoon? Should not be wandering around without mommy I reckon.

Aaron, bless your soul for your random act of kindness to the poor creature.

  6. I’d stop and help a coon, I actually like them even though I’d also hunt them with my coonhound. I still think they’re great animals. a 10″ coon should definitely have it’s mother closeby, perhaps she was hit elsewhere. Everytime I see a dead coon on the road I say, aww, poor coon.

  7. Kate – just why did you post this? I’m a dog lover, not a cat person, but there is absolutely nothing funny or entertaining about seeing a cat run over.
    I’m disappointed in you.

  8. Kate did not post this. One of her guest bloggers, Jaeger, did. I’ve personally always taken the title of this blog as a metaphor, not something to be taken literally for post content. To date I believe this is the first post in this vein, ever. I hope Kate removes it when she sees it.
There have been other posts about roadkill, usually hitting a deer. But never pictures of the animals and always in a somber tone, expressing sorrow for the animal and anger at stupid policies that have increased the frequency of wild animals being hit by vehicles.
This was not funny, not appropriate for this blog and does not fit with any of the rest of the content on this blog.
