1.
”Allegations have been made about a Member of Parliament. The persons who made those allegations have come to Parliament, been allowed to testify. They’ve done so. The public will judge and then the question will then follow as to whether there needs to be any further action taken by either the federal or provincial governments.”
This, coming from someone who claims to seek the office of Prime Minister, scares the bejebus out of me. He really has no clue about this country.

2. “and when we get into government we’re going to need to look at to make absolutely sure that none of the good people who come to this country are ever subjected to abuse because of their immigration status.”
Abuse by who? The Liberal Party? The perpetrators of the crimes are telling us when they are in power things will be better for the abused people.
Personally I’d love to see the flood gates open on this and have thousands of complaints by nannies come forward. You know there are lots of them out there that have been treated like crap. It would be nice if 20 or 30 Liberals were also accused. Some Conservatives as well.
How come rich people can’t make their own beds, vacuum or do their own laundry? I know people work 7 days a week and can still put the dinner on the table.

3. Hmm… you know, he sounds exactly like Stephane Dion.
I remember a scrum long ago in which Dion was asked an inconvenient question. He just bristled and said “Merci” and walked away.
Deja vu!
Oh, wait… maybe poor Iggy was begging for mercy
Poor guy. Can’t handle anything tough. And he thinks he’s got what it takes to be PM?
So did Dion.

4. omg… when I heard her on the radio playing the victim and using the minority card I couldn’t help burst out laughing.
She’s a sinking ship and Iggys motoring away as quickly as possible.

5. and her treatment of these–the people in her employ.
Hmm. It sounds like someone just managed to catch himself before saying “servants”. And a Harvard prof said “morale” and not “moral”? Mind you, I guess he hasn’t had much practice using that word–lately or ever.

6. “Michael Ignatieff: I think Ruby made a vigorous defence of her integrity, her honour and her treatment of these – the people in her employ.”
HER employ? Was this a slip? Fundamental to the whole issue is the question whether she was involved, at all, as employer.

7. When I was in Ottawa for a conference last week, Mr. Ignatieff spoke to us at a luncheon on Tuesday. On Monday the past president of the Canadian Medical Association, Dr. Brian Day, gave us his perspective on Canada’s medical system and the unreasonable restrictions in the Canada Health Act. Needless to say, this resonated with the crowd. After Mr. Ignatieff’s talk there was an open question period. The first question was very clear. To paraphrase; are you in favor of entering into a dialogue to examine the Canada Health Act and its efficacy for delivery of health services to Canadians and would you entertain a parallel private system if that was the determination of the aforementioned dialogue? Mr. Ignatieff spoke to the question for a good five minutes and never provided a clear statement as to his position. He did mouth some platitude regarding the size of one’s wallet should not determine the level of care one receives. He had no answer to the rising costs, the delay in delivery and the overall inefficiencies. I realize that this is a thorny problem but it would have been very simple for him to state with certainty that he was in favor of entering into a dialogue and would look at any solution including private option. His answer in this scrum regarding Dhalla is part from the same no answer “answer” strategy. Dion tried it and it’s a loser.

8. Too bad he wasn’t in Canada to explain away the sponsorship thievery. I can imagine him saying ” the key issue here is the theft of taxpayer funds. It is not who may have stolen the money, but to make sure it doesn’t happen when another party is in power”.

9. Ruby is a diamond in disguise for the Conservative party. She is the epitome of the lying hypoctrical corrupt liberal. The Ruby ruse will haunt Iggy, until he packs up and goes back to the states sometime next year. Ruby and her clan are going to do something outrageous to try and reclaim her crown. They’ll get caught, and the shit will hit the fan big time for the liberal party.

10. So, Ruby throws her brother under the bus, and now Iggy throws Ruby under the bus, who’s next? The Liberals are united alright, united in covering their own butts!

11. wally j ,
More likely would have gone something like Yes we stole , but it wasn’t necessarily stealing….

12. Iggy sez: “…the people in her employ.”…
Guess he didn’t hear her statement.
Wow …he really doesn’t have a clue.
Brian @9:20…interesting.Shades of Dion, for sure.
You had asked us for questions to ask PMSH at that session.Did you post the replys anywhere?

13. Iggy threw the whole Liberal party except himself under the bus when he disavowed the coalition. What’s a single Ruby to the likes of an Iggy?

14. the liederal party should start a WAFFLE business
first mister dithers
then deyawn
and now Iggy waffle/dithers/don’t know the answer:-)))

15. Vaclav Klaus on Eggyheads.
Iggy is a dealer in junk politics; a huffing Puffin; a socialist maven; an Eggoist.
Iggy: Go Home.
…-
“The Intellectuals and Socialism: As Seen from a Post-Communist Country Situated in Predominantly Post-Democratic Europe
1. I take it for granted that this audience knows the slightly provocative (because mercilessly generalizing) but very powerful and important, now already 56 years old article “The Intellectuals and Socialism”. This audience certainly knows as well that it was written by F. von Hayek and that it was published in the very confused and very pro-socialist post-second world war era, when the overall belief in the benefits of social engineering and of economic planning and, at the same time, the disbelief in free markets were at their heights.
I suppose that many of us still remember Hayek’s definition of intellectuals (we would probably say public intellectuals nowadays) as “the professional second-hand dealers in ideas”, who are proud of not “possessing special knowledge of anything in particular”, who do not take “direct responsibility for practical affairs” and who need not “even be particularly intelligent” to perform their “mission”. Hayek argued that they are satisfied with being “intermediary in the spreading of ideas” of original thinkers to the common people, whom they consider not being their equals.
Hayek was – more than half a century ago, which means before the current prevalence of electronic media – aware of the enormous power of intellectuals to shape public opinion and warned us that “it is merely a question of time until the views held by the intellectuals become the governing force of politics”. This is as valid today as it was when he wrote it.
The question is what kind of ideas is favoured by the intellectuals. The question is whether the intellectuals are neutral in their choice of ideas with which they are ready to deal with. Hayek argued that they are not. They do not hold or try to spread all kinds of ideas. They have very clear and, in some respect, very understandable preferences for some of them. They prefer ideas, which give them jobs and income and which enhance their power and prestige.
They, therefore, look for ideas with specific characteristics.”

16. What an educated idiot! Most likley believes in Global Warming or Climate Change or whatever it is this freezin ass cold week also. Education can be attained, but it dosn’t always work. Eg; Igula. Long live leader Harper.

17. I wonder if Dhalla would agree to take a lie detector test….i am sure the nannies would agree in a heart beat. It is obvious that laws have been broken and this should be fully investigated by the RCMP. It would be nice if the nannies could find the funds to sue Dhalla`s ass off for liable.

18. Personally I feel Ruby -don’t-take-your-love-to-town is in dire need of a longgggg backrub!
It’s been a long week for her, and, well… I am a bit short on my mandated community service.
“Hey Ruby babe, I’ll squeeze you in, if you need….”

19. Is Dhalla still being paid while she “works on clearing her name”? Do the nannies get that privilege? Do the nannies have high priced lawyers making sure they have their stories straight, vetting everything they say, and ensuring they don’t slip up? They’re the ones who could use one – English is their second language, they aren’t experienced orators, and they are in a vulnerable position.
When Dhalla finally does come back to the job were paying her for, will she still be sitting close to Ignatief so as to be prominently featured by all the tv broadcasts?
Or does Dhalla have a new chair? Interesting to see.

20. It’s pretty funny to watch her play the race card, thinking it will get a troubled Liberal out of jail free, as usual. SURPRISE! Your opponents can play the same race card! NOW what do you do? Panic, blame the conservatives, call them liars, say it’s a smear job, blame the conservatives, etc.

21. Ruby’s Mom was always cooking meals for them. They were going to shows and plays. She’s accompanied Ruby on trips around the world. She needs a live-in caregiver?
Why wasn’t this obvious question asked?

22. I think Don Martin is middle age crazy in love with Ruby. something is seriously amiss in his columms.

23. set you free: “My mind’s made up. Don’t confuse me with the facts.” This is pretty much the basis on which many people cast their votes. What’s worrisome about Ignatieff is that (unless he makes a huge gaffe) voters are lulled into complacency. This is why Obama got in. People did not bother thinking about who he really was or what he stood for. They wanted to vote for him because he made them feel good — that’s his skill set. Similarly, Ignatieff (as far as I can tell) does not stand for much, but he will be good at making soothing noises. This phenomenon is nicely explained in The Myth of the Rational Voter.

24. All my positions and decisions are as well thought-out as they can be.
That’s why I advised the lynch mob to keep an open mind until the facts came out.
Now, I’m sure many are confused by the facts.

25. Don Martin comes rushing to the defense of any Liberal with a bosom. I guess Belinda has been cast aside. I imagine the poor fellow has never enjoyed much success with women.

26. according to the national satirical press which is no longer publishing (as with western std), ms dallah on a recent sashay to the punjab place of her origin, dun got her purse snatched by one of the half billion street urchins.
the other bad news is she did not object when the local constabulary beat the living shyt out of the red handed waif instead of a typical stern warning this side of the globe.
whut goes around comes around.
