Have no fear of the coming recession, The One has revealed the answer to our economic problems:
Obama also said he wants to install energy-saving light bulbs and replace old heating systems in federal buildings to cut costs and create jobs.
Yes, an army of illegal immigrants running around installing made-in-China lightbulbs in federal buildings is a sure path to prosperity.

Can’t wait for the jokes:
How many Dems does it take to replace a light bulb in the White House?
Answer please…
let’s have some fun with this…
Just one – but it has to really want to change…
Just one – Obama holds the bulb, and the whole world revolves around him….
None. The Obamaton will declare darkness the new standard.
I wonder how long it will take before someone proposes that they build a monument to his greatness? Please excuse me while I vomit.
How many Democrats does it take to change a lightbulb? Seventeen. One to change the bulb, six to talk about how wonderful it is going to be when the new bulb is screwed in, and ten to argue for increased funding for solar lighting research.
Uh, I have worked in or gone to meetings in many U.S. federal buildings and every single one of them was entirely lit with florescent lights. So, where is the savings in using compact florescent bulbs?
How many Dems does it take to replace a light bulb in the White House?
Well, it depends really.
The bill would have to pass the Democratic controlled House of Representatives whose leader, Nancy Pelosi, is still currently on her book tour. She won’t be back until sometime after hell freezes over.
It also requires the Democratic controlled Senate to pass the bill. Their leader, Harry Reid, has declared that the war against inefficient light bulbs has been lost and that all efficient light bulbs must be withdrawn immediately.
Obama has stated that he will veto any bill that doesn’t contain a time-line of withdrawal of efficient light bulbs and has hinted that he is willing to meet with inefficient light bulbs without preconditions.
Well, as we know from the Trudeau years governments are successful in creating government jobs.
Sounds alot to me like words spoken by none other than ‘Forlorne” Calvert. You know, words to the effect of “employing more young people into the public service” yada yada. That was Lorne’s solution to providing employment to our young people graduating from Saskatchewan’s universities.
the hopey changey thingy works wonders for the hangers-on. God bless America she’s gonna need it.
Don’t you love surface level thinking. Energy saving bulbs have a mercury component to them — hmmm our landfills will be full of these bulbs once they are discarded. This will then seep into the ground water which many communities still rely on for drinking water.
Solar Cells in the manufacturing process require lead, cadmium, mercury and selenium. Such a nice toxic soup. Hey but the energy produced is so clean — lets chop down the forests of northern ontario and replace them with solar farms. 🙂
Considering most products these days are manufactured in the totalitarian state of China that is also a holder of a get out of Kyoto free card or even has a lack of any pollution control regulations, we just green shift the pollution to china (green as $$$$$). BTW Power Corporation has a vested interest in building coal-based power plants in China with ZERO pollution controls and use dirty coal. Our Liberal colleagues should be happy. 🙂
Ohh but we outsource food now to china — hmmmmm the same place that puts heavy metals in toothpaste, finds melamine in food products nevermind what kind of heavy metals that must accumulate in the soil.
I am looking forward to planting mutant palm trees on my front lawn.
Go Obama Go — NOT. God help us he appoints Mr Internet Inventor Gore to the Government.
I, as a conservative supporter have worked in the green energy field for 20+ years but I hate misleading propaganda by so-called environmentalists. Most of them are not very deep thinkers and choose to see what they want to see and somehow miss the rest. You like it or not, everything leaves a footprint — question is what leaves the smallest one.
That is my $20 rant. 🙂
“Hope & Change”
Change begins with the white house light bulbs………….
Not so much change begins with Shrillery’s appointment as “Secretary of State”.
It’s funny because I’m reminded of the Spartan movie “300”……..Remember when the Persian King Xerxes (Obama) tempts the traitorous little disfigured Ephialtes (Hillery) in the den of sin with “whatever it desired”.
“AM I NOT MERCIFULL?”
The great part of these’s new make work projects for all the unemployed Americans is that they won’t need to compete very much with the millions of illegal Mexicans that flood across their border every year. After all the illegals are only doing the jobs Americans won’t do, remember?
At least there’s always been “hope” which rhymes quite nicely with “rope a dope”.
How many Dems does it take to replace a light bulb in the White House?
0, Dems are above Manuel labor.
I had no idea the solution was so simple. What a genius to cut through all the BS and come up with this. Build some roads and change some light bulbs….who knew. It’s going to be a long four years.
Well actually socialists can’t change a light bulb. They can remove a light bulb but can’t put in a new one because that requires turning to the right.
“They can remove a light bulb but can’t put in a new one because that requires turning to the right.”
*SNORK* at Joe’s remark.
0, Dems are above Manuel labor.
Manuel the wet back saves the day!!!
In regards to Joe’s comments:
well, if they are not union electricians, the bulb cannot be changed. As you are waiting, no working bulb, thus no energy consumed, thus reduced power consumption.
I seem to remember something called the dark ages — hmmmmmmmm
And don’t forget – inflate your tires.
Well… I guess it’s a step up from checking our tire pressure…
Yes, inflate your tires! Make them wear out quicker which creates jobs (and polution in the manufacturing process, not to mention they take up more space in the landfill)

Hopefully, the American people will see the light as they did in the Clinton era and change the house composition to majority Republican in 2 years. Or is the Dem majority too large for that to happen?
It’s astounding how much Obama is already getting trashed by his own supporters so far … and it’s only six weeks before inauguration day.
Lightbulb change you can believe in.
“Hopefully, the American people will see the light as they did in the Clinton era and change the house composition to majority Republican in 2 years. Or is the Dem majority too large for that to happen?”
I live in Kalifornia. They keep electing the same left wing tools year after year. The hole is getting deeper and deeper here. Their only solution seems to be raising taxes. It’s hard to believe Ronald Reagan came from this state. The national IQ of the U.S. seems to have dropped by a good 20 points in the last few years and so I see what has happened in my state spreading nationwide in the near future. I don’t know if we can survive a reincarnation of Jimmy Carter and FDR in The One. And I don’t think I could sit through another Schwarzenegger movie without getting sick

“How many Dems does it take to replace a light bulb in the White House?

It takes 58 Dems: One to screw in the light bulb while the other 57 screw the taxpayer.

Trivia,
Rockefeller Plaza in NYC has all the Light bulbs that are reversed (screw in CCW). Old buzzard was cheap & didn’t want employee theft.
And Phillip G.Them would be called threads from JAPAN. Who said they lost the war??
Get it straight. Usually around here, it’s “What recession?”
they hope the bulb will change.
Heh – exactly, Bourrie.
You don’t need light bulbs. O is a beacon that lights the path of all mankind. You know, “You Can’t Be A Beacon if Your Light Don’t Shine”? “Inner glow” and all that, If it is dark you don’t really, really beleive.
Dems don’t change light bulbs. They work in the dark.
The halo around his head should be enough to light up the whole Capitol. What are they worried about lightbulbs for?
Most fed buildings are probably already lit with traditional florescent bulbs.
There may be a few incandescent bulbs here and there which they can replace with those god awful compact florescent bulbs, but the numbers are probably small. Besides CFL bulbs produce horrible light, and savings are not nearly as great in colder climates as you might except.
The One’s idea yet again demonstrates the result of putting people in power who understand flat zero about science or engineering.
Depressing.
Bourrie, thanks for dropping by and demonstrating such a low level of reading comprehension.
Hey Bourrie and Kaplan, the recsession is only going to become as bad as we talk it into being.
Fear.
Uncertainty.
Doubt.
FUD.
Keep promoting it along with the MSM. I’m going out and buying a new refridgerator, love seat and range today. About 1600 bucks, pretty good deal eh? There are some good deals in the marketplace right now. Nothing fancy mind you but it will get the job done for now. Bought a new home theatre system yesterday, Sony, 350 bucks. Kids are into DS and WII, we even have a PS2 still, they are still buying games 40-50 bucks each. My kids are also into photography and video shooting, acting/drama and stuff. Have you seen the price of that stuff theses days? Video cam and still photo camera plus 8gb flash card 350 each, 35 x zoom, 3/4″ wide, smaller than palm of your hand. Things aren’t good for some that’s for sure and unfortunate but this will be good for Canada’s character. We’re not going to need that famine afterall.
CFL (mercury) bulbs produce very depressing light to my eyes. I am stocking up on real light bulbs for the day that they are illegal. I predict a thriving black market for light bulbs one day. Who knew?
More aggravation from the collective.
The lifespan of CFC’c is greatly reduced by turning on and off, I think they suggest 3 minutes between. Crazy ,I consider being able to turn a lightbulb on/off average/normal usage.
Clearly, the White House should be moved into orbit.
Obama’s brilliance will shine down and He will make the face of heaven shine so bright that all the world will fall in love with night and pay no tribute to the garish sun.
That’s right, only Shakespeare can describe the brilliance of the One.
too bad bourrie. you will need to wait two more quarters for a recession. the last quarter showed growth in Canaduh.
God made Canada so rich, he had to put Canadians there just to make it even.
So get it straight. Recession or no recession? House prices down 27% in Saskatoon = good time to buy. $42 oil = good thing for the West. TSX down from 15000 to 8000 = good time to buy. 60,000 jobs lost in Ontario last month = laughs from self-described Canadian patriots.
Careful! This is the man whose coattails Harper hopes to ride to a majority government.
Watch when they meet — Harper will be grinning like a Cheshire cheese.
Changing heating systems in federal buildings.
Not. Cheap.
My favorite finding on solar panels is that a chemical (nitrogen triflouride) used in their manufacture has 17000 times the climate impact of CO2 and lasts in the atmosphere for 700 years. Currently, the impact of this chemical means that solar panels in service today have the same warming effect of an equivalent amount of coal for the energy used, except that the CO2 in coal is expected to come out of the atmosphere in 70 years. So unless the panels last for centuries, they are losers in the climate game.

What is really important though is that we mean well.
The word ‘cheap’ does not exist on the spending end of any gubmint.
Regarding the Ontario auto industry, I just cannot imagine Judas Jack Layton saying NO to anything demanded by that wild, angry, frothing, foaming, CAW president after seeing his rant on the weekend.
Shudder at the thought of Judas Jack anywhere near a cabinet minister post.
Hey, I wonder if CAW’s head will finally explode when the real bottom of the world-wide economic downturn arrives in a year or two or three?
Tarpaper
The correct, traditional wording of the question is, “How many Democrats does it take to screw in a lightbulb in the White House?”
Now that it’s the correct wording, I can provide the correct answer.
A: None. Democrats don’t screw in lightbulbs in the White House. They screw in the Oval Office, the Lincoln Bedroom, the kitchen, the closet, the basement, the attic, etc., etc… pretty much all over the place, you know…
Harper starts the ball rolling with President-elect Obama
The prime minister has tried to dovetail our climate-change needs with the U.S.

“This is a tremendous historic occasion for the United States in all kinds of ways. Obviously, the election of the first African-American president is a tremendous and truly inspiring moment.”
– Stephen Harper
@Skip: “The Obamaton will declare darkness the new standard.”
After Kyoto is accepted, it’ll be worse: oil will go to $10 and it’ll be COLD & dark on both sides of the border
