  1. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why the left will, in due time, win this little war of ideologies and someday bury conservatism in a deep hole of its own making.
Newsflash: Hey conservatives, stop being nice to the enemy. Stop praising them the odd time that they do something reasonably correct. They would never do it for you.
It didn’t do much for the Jews in 1940. They had to look to the people who were willing to fight or die. And now, even those people are holding their weapons down and pandering to the enemy, as if they deserve anything other than our contempt and vigilant efforts to wipe their foul, socialist ideology off the face of the planet.
If Karl Rove wants a job at the White house so bad, why doesn’t he just go and ask for it directly, instead of humiliating himself and all conservatives with this crap.

  2. Because he is got to bring in 100 ‘near rhinos’ friends. He seems he can’t find any.

  3. There was another article in the WSJ today (I haven’t got time to find it) that is indicating that his choices for defense are pretty good and pretty centrist. It also mentions that there may be kickback from the very left – because he is not doing what they expected him to do.

  4. The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy
That’s the funniest statement I’ve heard all week!
First of all the right wing is not vast and secondly they’re no where smart enough to mount a conspiracy.
He He He Ha Ha Ha Ho Ho Ho

  5. Right: the Right doesn’t involve itself in conspiracies. They believe, sometimes mistakenly, that people will come to see the obvious. Like, perhaps the folly of increasing taxes and spending the money on Government projects to stimulate the economy. The Left believes that if you take out of the blue box and put it into the red box you will end up with 2 full boxes, as long as you tell everyone it is so.

  6. Karl Rove is very good at staying at the top of the US political food chain. And Tom Flanagan learned most of his tactics at Rove’s knee. Or some other nether parts.

  7. If you got deep into voting motivations, Carl Rove is hated far worse than Bush. The foundation of the Bush Hatred Syndrome is that Bush is an idiot, and Carl Rove is the Puppet master.
Carl’s piece is designed to stir dissension in the ranks of the Obama supporters, particularly in the net-roots.
Think in terms of Goering writing an op-ed supporting Churchill in 1941.
Incidentally, I quoted a line from Churchill’s December 1941 speech to the Canadian Parliament in an email to the PM yesterday on the defunding of Parties-
“There shall be no halting, or half measures, there shall be no compromise, or parley. These gangs of bandits have sought to darken the light of the world; have sought to stand between the common people of all the lands and their march forward into their inheritance.”

  8. poor not stirred.
so politically naive as to not recognize the most blatant quote of Hillary Clinton.

  9. So basically Karl Rove utters one “nice” thing about the so-called “left” and the guy is exonerated?
I guess everybody should forget all that other stuff he appears to have done, and refused to testify about?
A stopped clock tells the correct time twice a day. Every now and again Karl Rove might say something that isn’t totally dishonest.

  10. Oh come on. Be nice. Rove is the reason most of the hard-right nutters year have had someting to cheer about over the past 8 years. His tactics put Bush in office. Twice. And all of you loved Bush back then, so whats with the sudden hatred. He’s a brilliant guy.
Besides, is it really that surprising that he’s waving Obama’s flag. This is the same man who orchestrated two of the most vicious personal attacks in Republican Primary history. Remember John McCain, the ‘fag candidate’, with the ‘illegitmate child’ (his adopted daughter). Naah. That stuff was acceptable by the nutter, and I emphasise the word Nutter, right-wing standards. This stuff – saying Obama has picked a solid economic team, is not acceptable. Personal insults are good. An opinion based on some factual analysis isn’t. Pat yourselves on the back, y’all.
IanV, I can assure you no one in the Obama ranks is going to bother with Rove’s thoughts, no matter what he says. He is hated more than Bush – that is true – but only because he managed to put Bush in office twice, a feat many on this board celebrated. The article will likely go unnoticed in Obama’s ranks – they don’t really care what he thinks because he isn’t in an influential position anymore. Churchills folk wouldn’t have cared about what Goering had to say either. After all Hitler praised the British colonial exploits – ruling large swathes of the world with a small population. Most people don’t even notice that.

  11. Henry:
“I agree with John.” How many times did Obama say that during the debates? The McCain campaign used those words against Obama in some of their ads. How many times during his campaign say he and McCain agreed on issue X but had “fundamental differences” on issue Y?
    Or was your post tongue-in-cheek?

  12. Haven’t read too much by Rove, just about him.
Am I the only one reading a bit of toungue and cheek in his ‘cheerful’ message?
I mean $500. for 98% of the population?
I’ve been in Obama-avoidance mode…so help me hear..did he really say that?
I also need help with the math.
Rove says”… it is jarring to hear him now suggest the deficit will need to be larger to accommodate more spending….”
No kidding Karl!Jarring to who?Is anyone listening?

  13. My fave Rove moment was at the end of the press conference when he announced he was leaving the Bush administration. As Bush and Rove walked away from the podium a reporter called out: “If you’re so smart how come you lost Congress?”
Guess the voters weren’t paying attention to Rove’s “math”.
In any case, Rove’s been rendered irrelevant. His amoral unChristian character-assassinating Machiavellian tactics have been irrelevant for several years now. He never was a ‘genius’ anyhow. Just amoral – he sure mirrored the modern conservative in that respect.
But that kinda stuff only works till people catch on.
He’s just trying to make news. It’s no news if Rove criticizes Obama – but he thinks he’ll make news by praising him. Thinks he can stay in the public eye that way.
Just another porcine loser desperately trying to maintain an illusion of relevance after the times have decisively rejected him and all he stands for.
And how ’bout the rest of ya?

  14. I don’t think Obamba likes Turkey, they’s frendly with them other BoyZ on the north side.

  15. He he he……..I takes nothing to wind real up, yall shoud try it, makes my day every day.
Kind of like ice fishing for suckers, drill the hole, lay the bait, and he still keeps biting….Wohooo. Idiot.
