  1. Bill Ayers claims he and other former radicals are “good guys” who are being “demonized”
Check out Hugh Hewitt’s blog. The Nail-Bomber-In-Chief walked away when a journalist asked him “do you repudiate your actions?”
Bill Ayers — once a nail bomber, always a nail bomber.
    The journalist nailed him.

I called into a talk radio show with a guest who was discussing the hill billy assassination attempt on Barry.
All the usual words were used…racist, radical, hope etc…
I asked her about Barry’s association with Bill Ayers…..She told me Mr. Ayers is a highly respected university professor and his nail bombing is a mere aside.
    Go figure.

anybody else appreciate the cosmic irony, that “dumb and dumber”
who probably would have trouble loading a gun… never mind finding

  5. I found myself wondering today, if Sarah Palin were a black woman running for GOP Vice President, would she still have been attacked so blatantly by the MSM and the feminazis? Does her being caucasian give the nuts carte blanche to attack her at will??

  6. “…..if Sarah Palin were a black woman running for GOP Vice President, would she still have been attacked so blatantly by the MSM and the feminazis? Does her being caucasian give the nuts carte blanche to attack her at will??”
Well, the left and the media (sorry for the redundancy) have been none too kind to Condoleeza Rice. And we saw during the last election round how thoughtful, experienced, and talented black candidates like Michael Steele and Ken Blackwell were attacked.

  7. “Best autumn colours on trees for years” –
Daily Telegraph science correspondent Richard Gray reports that “Arboricultural experts say the recent cold mornings and warmer afternoons have led to a rapid onset of autumn changes in trees.”
“Tony Kirkham, head of arboretum at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London, said the return to more typical autumn conditions was a relief as it would allow Britain’s trees a chance to recover from the strains of growing and pests during the summer.
“He said: “We are experiencing a return to the traditional British autumn. Cold nights and warm days are all conducive to good autumn colour.”

  8. On a much happier note: An article in the Hill Times lays out the 2006 liberal leadership contest debt outstanding. The numbers as of June 2008 are:
    Maurizio Bevilacqua – $269,378
    Scott Brison – $150,095
    Stéphane Dion – $627,860
    Ken Dryden – $395,890
    Hedy Fry – $104,000
    Martha Hall Findlay – $184,460
    Michael Ignatieff – $143,500
    Gerard Kennedy – $322,361
    Joseph Volpe – $160,290
That is a total of $2,357,834 still outstanding and getting ready for another run.

We could see this coming, couldn’t we. B.C. is now facing a huge downturn in the construction industry, projects are being cancelled or put on “hold” in every city.
Should we in the construction business now expect “government”/taxpayer money to fund these projects so we can keep working?
After all, housing is much more of a “motherhood” issue than driving a gas guzzling, overpowered pickup.

  12. Kenneth P. Green, Climate Change: Science and Policy
So, to wrap up the science: Theory and observation suggest humanity’s greenhouse gas emissions have caused a bit of extra heat to be retained in the atmosphere, and will trap still more. Whether that will cause harm or not depends on both global and local factors that cause global and regional climate trends to fluctuate over time…
This bears repeating: even if we fervently wanted to, nothing that the developed world could do would significantly reduce predictable global warming. That makes any expenditure to reduce greenhouse gases a waste of resources that will not yield any environmental or human risk-reduction benefits…

News item: On Sunday, Arab News reported, “The U.S. government is currently studying the salient features of Islamic banking to ascertain how far it could be useful in fighting the ongoing world economic crisis, Robert M. Kimmitt, US deputy secretary of the Treasury, said at a press conference held at the US Embassy here yesterday.”…
As it happens, for the better part of a year, we at the Center for Security Policy have spent a fair amount of time trying to teach U.S. Treasury Department and other government “experts” about what is euphemistically called “Islamic banking,” but better known as Shariah-Compliant Finance (SCF)…
Specifically, we shared with them a detailed legal memorandum written by one of our experts – David Yerushalmi, an attorney specializing in securities law who is deeply knowledgeable about the comprehensive theo-political-legal code that authoritative Islam calls Shariah. Mr. Yerushalmi’s memo makes a compelling case that there is both civil liability and criminal exposure associated with SCF…

  16. Col. (ret.) Jonathan Fighel, The “Forest Jihad”
From the beginning of September 2008, a renewed concern emanated from Western intelligence agencies to the effect that Al Qaeda terrorists were planning a “global fireball”, in a departure from its war on the West. Deliberately lighting forest fires in Europe, the US and Australia, would not only stretch emergency services, but would also leave ins[snip] companies facing multi-billion dollar claims, as the cred[snip] crunch bites. The fires would also create a pollution disaster, with billions of tons of climate-change gases escaping into the atmosphere. The so-called “forest jihad” is being championed by Islamic scholars and Osama Bin Laden’s terror strategists who believe setting fire to dry woodlands will produce maximum damage at minimum risk…

“Obama to Supporters at Frigid Penn. Rally: Put Down the Global Warming Signs–It’s Too Cold!
    Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Barack Obama interrupted his speech at a rally in Chester, Pennsylvania this morning to ask his supporters to put away their ‘Stop Global Warming’ signs because it was too cold.
With snow flurries dusting the stage, Obama told the crowd it was so cold Gov. Ed Rendell’s teeth were chattering. He then told the crowd he could see their ‘Stop Global Warming’ signs and asked that they put them away because it was too cold. He said he believes in global warmimg,(sic) but it was just too cold.
Hopefully this will be up on YouTube later today.”

“Sources: Sarkozy views Obama stance on Iran as ‘utterly immature'”
    By Barak Ravid (haaretz.com)
French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama’s positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel’s government.
Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate’s stance on Iran as “utterly immature” and comprised of “formulations empty of all content.”

“Crowd gives Obama a different kind of chilly reception
By Ben Feller, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
CHESTER, Pa. – The World Series got suspended by weather but the politics never stop.
Democrat Barack Obama carried Tuesday with an outdoor rally at Widener University, outside Philadelphia, despite miserable weather. A cold, steady rain made it feel like the temperature was right around freezing.
It was the same kind of weather that halted the fifth game of the World Series in Philadelphia on Monday night, the first such suspension in the history of the baseball championship.
Several thousand people came out to hear Obama, his party’s presidential nominee.
Obama told the shivering crowd: “I just want all of you to know that if we see this kind of dedication on Election Day, there is no way that we’re not going to bring change to America.””

  21. Continuing on with the recount in Vancouver South, it is clear, both in the Elections Canada Manual, section 2.7.2 and in the Elections Canada Act, Section 304, (you can google both) that the recount was mandatory and therefore, the judge had to recount all the ballots. Not just those from a few boxes. And not just the spoiled ballots. All of them.
I’m puzzled why the MSM and a few bloggers (Kady) haven’t checked out the Elections Laws and instead, accept the untrue MSM statement that the judge has the option of ‘selecting’ a few boxes for the recount. And, in the case of a mandatory recount, which this was, the judge cannot stop the recount (section 307).
At any rate, Young and her lawyers are following due process, as laid out in the act, Section 311; that is, going to a judge of the supreme court of BC. The judge in default, ie, the one who didn’t carry out the full recount, must comply with the order.

  22. Amir Taheri, Obama & the Arabs: Why Muslims see him as one of them
Note that Obama wouldn’t be the first politician with Muslim roots to lead a major non-Muslim country. Carlos Menem, a Muslim of Syrian descent, served as Argentina’s president from 1989 to 1999. But he dropped his Arab-Islamic first name and adopted his baptismal Christian name before entering politics.
Obama, by contrast, has retained his Arabic-Islamic names. (Barack means “blessed” and Hussein means “beautiful.”) His family name is Swahili, an East African lingua franca based on Arabic. Arab commentators note that his siblings also all have Arabic Muslim names. His sister is called Oumah, Arabic for “the community of the faithful[“;] his older daughter, Malia, bears the name of a daughter of the Caliph Othman, who commissioned the compilation of the first edition of the Koran. That Obama’s stepfather was also a Muslim (from Indonesia) strengthens the empathy that many Arabs feel for him…

  23. “Hockey moms rule, says local mask artist
It may make a mess of her now famous up-do, but this is one hockey mask Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin will want to don.
Brockville’s own Frank Cipra, who has designed more than 3,000 hockey masks for some of the NHL’s top goaltenders over his career, is the man behind the colourful “hockey mom” mask being presented to Palin at a rally this week.
“I would have loved to hand it to her in person,” Cipra explained last week at his Cipra Designs office on Brockville’s waterfront while hatching the plan to get the mask to Palin. He ended up sending it to a colleague in the U.S., who had connections with Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, a friend of Palin’s.
The remarkable mask, which has a smiling Palin complete with her suddenly-famous rimless glasses on one side and a comical pit bull on the other, is a direct result of the comments made by the Alaska governor at her nomination acceptance speech in late August.”

  24. The ‘Prince of Darkness’ story gets even creepier, from a Forbes magazine article, now pulled:
“Is Barack Obama the “promised warrior” coming to help the Hidden Imam of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?”
The question has made the rounds in Iran since last month, when a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.
According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali.

  25. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20081028/D943P1EG0.html
HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) – John McCain repeatedly implores backers to “stand up and fight” these days, showing gritty determination even as many indicators point to a Barack Obama victory and Republicans engage in fingerpointing typical of losing campaigns. “Nothing is inevitable here. We never give up. And we never quit,” McCain declares.
A week before Election Day, the Republican is an enthusiastic underdog with what advisers say is a deep personal belief that he still has a chance to stage an upset next week. He has come back from the brink politically and personally before, and they say, he’s resolved to do so again despite steep challenges.
In the homestretch, he tells people to ignore the pundits who project an Obama triumph and the polls that favor the Democrat. He scorns Obama’s confident air in the waning days as a premature “victory lap.” He says the country deserves “someone who will fight ’til the end.” And, he says a GOP victory is within reach.
…This week, McCain’s events generated energy in conservative parts of Pennsylvania.
On Tuesday morning, McCain and Palin climbed out of their campaign bus in the home of the Hershey Bears hockey team and drew thunderous cheers although the arena wasn’t filled.
McCain drew applause when he said, “I’ve been tested. Sen. Obama hasn’t” and a standing ovation when he said, “I will bring our troops home with honor and victory and not in defeat.”
The night before in Pottsville, Pa., several thousand people in a school district field house roared approval when McCain and his wife Cindy entered to the theme from the “Rocky” movies.
At one point, he said “If I’m elected,” and then quickly corrected himself, saying “WHEN I’m elected president …” The crowd went wild.
Well that report doesn’t look like an Obama anointing by any stretch. My guess is that McCain/Palin will be strong finishers and won’t take anything lying down.
