75 Replies to “Larissa And Cal, Up A Tree”

  1. Really pathetic. Larissa and Cal, up a tree with a monkey, er, Carolyn Bennett, guess she’s such a shoo-in in her brain free Liberal voting riding in Toronto she has time to go off and lend her expertise to help out her much admired “Steffawn”.
    What a pack of twits.

  2. Frustrating for me specifically because I live in St. Paul’s, Bennett’s riding. And she’ll win in a landslide. It’s incumbent upon the MSM, particularly those providing local Toronto coverage of the election – Citytv, CFTO, Global, etc – to get this story out immediately so Bennett, who was on The Michael Coren Show a few days ago and denied a deal had been cooked, can be exposed for being a liar and we can judge her at the ballot box accordingly… but of course they won’t do any stories on this.
The fact that Bennett isn’t even in her own riding should anger voters here… It shows her contempt for us, that she doesn’t even have to work in her riding to get elected.

  3. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but the poor woman has that lisp and has to spend the rest of her days saying: “I’m Larissa Shasko”.

  4. Bebe often appears immediately after a reference to evil or demons. For example, in the episode “Goodnight, Seattle”, in the midst of a heat wave during Martin’s wedding,
Frasier says, “It’s like the ninth circle of Hell in here!”
Moments later, Bebe walks in and remarks, “Do you love this weather, or what?”

  5. I am frightened for the future of Canada
these “Green” people are out of their f*%#in’ minds

  6. I’d like to slap that smug look off of Carolyn Bennett’s face.
Then find a way to get that poor girl de-programmed.

  7. I’v said for several years now ,”that liberalism will be the death of democracy”. Thanks Kate for showing to be so, we now know what the fight is!!!

  8. How will the MSM spin this one? I guess Harper and Layton were both right. Jack may be out there but at least he understands how democracy works. How anyone can vote LPC or Green after seeing this, what a sham.

  9. I think the “um” meter is pegged.
she could use some time at a toastmaster’s type course…
It’d be a lot easier to listen to. Not that I agreed with a word she said.

  10. another cover up by CBCpravda who have been openly endorsing the stategic voting vote trading website.

  11. the best result for Canada would be a CPC majority with the NDP as official oppostion.
at least we know where the dippers stand, as they have been consistent over the years, and layton(despite that cheesy moustache)can be counted on to make deals and keep his word
the same cannot be said about those other two parties
    G E E Z !
    VOTE REFORM
    GO ARMY

  12. She’s really um, you know, um, cute in a sorta dorky stupid um kind of way um, you know, in a benefit, um, for Canada as a you know coalition like you know doe-eyed neophyte um sorta kinda way?
One would think that someone who took the time to get Marxist degrees in Political Science and Visual Arts, whatever the f*ck that means, to take a course in um like Public Speaking! Frickin midget, mental and otherwise.

  13. I was at an all candidates form in Whitehorse last week and I asked Mr. Striker (green) and Larry Bagnell (Puffin) if they were a coalition. Striker flatly denied any such arrangement…Bagnell not so much, he didn’t answer that question. I also asked all four about income splitting for senior citizens – Larry lied and said income splitting for seniors was on the platform (it is not) and the Dipper and Greenie did not answer. The Conservative Candidate, Darrell Pasloski, clarified the question for me, he said that the Conservatives were the only party who had income splitting for seniors and the child benefit for children under six on their platform. Larry could not tell me how the carbon shaft thingie would work for Yukoners – he just said we would get a 1000.00 increase in N. Allowance (to help all those on BIG government salaries – paid for by S. taxpayers! – the Yukon no longer produces anything but bills for the rest of Canada); the latter IS on the Puffin platform.
Darrell outlined a plan for hydro power generation (which we could sell!) – I hope people were paying attention. Darrell is the only one of the four who has ever done anything that required expending of his OWN free time and calories. It should be a no brainer for people up here but most of the population are new imports from Ont. Quebec and Dippers and Puffins put out of the trough in Alta., Sask.(we have your former Dipper agriculture Deputy Min giving the gov’t advice up here, Kate!)…I am just hoping some of them stay home and the vote splits enough so Darrell will slide through to victory.
Hoping for a Harper Majority. Thanks for posting this Kate.

  14. I noticed that in the very first 14 seconds that there is a STRYOFOAM CUP in the office of the supposedly “environmentally friend” Liberal Party campaign office!

  15. Um…um…um…um…um…um…um…um…um…um…
‘Woman can’t even talk…I guess a reflection of the fact she can’t think either.
Why, oh why, was Ellie May ever allowed into the debates? Everything about her and her party is a bad joke. Too bad our Canadian democracy is the butt of May’s infantile and delusional fantasies.

  16. Those green slimes should not get a nickel of taxpayers money for votes picked up in this election, and no Liberal who plotted with the Greens should either.
Even if those nickels have Lizzie’s image on them.
Now we know why Layton and Harper didn’t want her on the debate. What a shameful crock.

  17. Saw it, cal2, (3:25), saw Ormiston providing helpful instructions on how to use the vote-trading website, and on what it will be useful for. Strange days indeed.
Re: May as a Liberal plant, meant to get an extra anti-Harper seat at the debates and to gather as many green votes as possible between the Libs and Greens, and then merge the gathered voters right before an election, here’s an interesting exchange between Mansbridge and Dion, from Dion’s in-studio interview a few days ago:
Mansbridge: “You know, one of the people you’ve worked closely with over the last little while has been Elizabeth May, the leader of the Green Party. You know, you decided not to run a candidate in her riding, she’s not running one in yours; she said all kinds of nice things about you in this campaign. Would there be a role for her in a Stephane Dione government?”
Dion: “I will not speak (inaudible) about that. I just want to say something about Elizabeth May. She —
Mansbridge: “Well, why wouldn’t you speak about that?”
Dion. “Because. Because. I will choose my cabinet when I — ”
    Mansbridge: “
I didn’t SUGGEST it had to be Cabinet. Would there be a role for somebody like her — ”
Dion: “I will choose my cabinet when I will see my caucus…”
So, to recap, Mansbridge adidn’t say anything about a Cabinet position; Dion replied “I will choose my Cabinet when I…” Mansbridge pointed out he didn’t mention cabinet, but Dion said defensively, almost angrily, “I will choose my cabinet when I will see my caucus…”
Reminds me of people who deny, as a pre-emptive defense against what they think the cop’s implying with that look, crimes they aren’t under investigation for.
On a side-note, check out this clip of Trojan Horse-woman from 1978. What stands out to me is that, unlike almost every reasonable person, she hasn’t changed even a bit in thirty years — she was always right, a very special kind of right that results when being excessively praised over the course of years coalesces into a pathology.
On a previous thread commenter batb wrote something about May’s demeanor, and her lack of manners at the leaders’ debate, that I found apt: “I think it’s ‘only child’ syndrome.’ You know the kind of kid? No matter what he/she does, Mom and Dad ooh and ahh and say, ‘oh, how cute, how smart, how simply sensational’ and all he/she did was walk toward the camera with a tooffy grin and say ‘Boo!'”
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cI0N_2urq_E
Watch her face when she tells her elder interlocutor who supports spraying for spruce budworm that his film is “in the fine tradition of nazi propaganda.”
Yup, it’s her, alright. Her sanctimony, then as now, is the final, unassailable word, the only salient point that matters in the room. Not unlike this individual:

  18. Gee, I guess umm, anyone can seek umm, political office. This umm, proves you don’t have to be umm smart. I might umm run myself umm, next umm time umm.

  19. We…um…want…um…to…um…work…um…with…um…you…um…
Is she running for the Green Party or for Miss South Carolina?

  20. Unfortunately for us, the Whatever Generation—many are an only child, but they don’t have to be—are a lot like Lizzie.
They’re entitled—“We know our rights”, “You can’t say/do that to me”—and confuse feelings for actual thought. (Think of trying to deal with one of them when you’re the customer and they’re not . . . E.g., When I recently had to get a new phone, the young Bell rep. was actually text messaging as he was serving me . . . until I politely requested that he refrain.)
This society is turning out spoiled, entitled brats, who look like adults but behave like toddlers: a very volatile combination. Ms Larissa Shasko is a perfect example of the pathology I’m talking about. And she thinks she knows better—way better—than the rest of us. (About her entitled, Liberal, elitist self, Carolyn Bennett thinks so too: there’s obviously something going on if she’s willing to slum around in Moose Jaw!)
Schadenfreude pretty well describes my feelings about the response Ms Know-It-All received from the NDP candidate and her own national office. I’m sure she feels shocked and betrayed.
Join the real world, Ms Shasko. Whoops, she’s a Greenie and “real” doesn’t seem to be included in their world vision. (That would be “vision” as in “mirage”.)

  21. A little off topic, but I noted the following:
Stephane Dion in his speech this morning in Montreal, referred to himself as a Quebecker (as in “We Quebeckers..”). Gotta wonder about his loyalties – is it Quebec, Canada or perhaps .. France?
Another observation: Prime Minister Stephen Harper is the only one who wears a Canadian flag pin on his lapel.

  22. Geez Hannibal, and I thought I was the only one that appreciated the Fraiser Show. Well done!

  23. Brad: “I am frightened for the future of Canada”
Also look at how crazy & irrational the comments on CBC’s site are getting. Fortunately the Greens aren’t armed, otherwise we would be seeing an armed coup attempt by now.
I’m kidding really, but it makes you think a little eh?

  24. And tonight, on the National … (drum roll)
    Over to you, Peter.
Stephane Dion’s candidate in the Toronto area riding of St Pauls, was in southern Saskatchewan lately trying to organize electoral fraud in the riding of Pallister.
The NDP candidate, to his credit would have nothing to do with it.
How this CBC National news cast, on the eve of a Federal election, will play out is up to Canadians. But the optics for Stephane Dion and his Liberal Party do not look good.
Our Parlimentary Bureau Chief, Keith Boag, wants to jump in here. Keith ?
Peter, I just want to say, that coming on the heels of ATV’s and Mike Duffy’s revelation that there was an attempted Liberal cover up – a cover up that would have hide Dion’s lack of mental capacity, in fact trying to hide it from Canadian’s who may be thinking of voting for him to be Prime Minister … well, this, along with Caroln Bennet’s attempt to subvert democracy, well, this is the type of thing we read about in history books. Peter.
    A note to our listeners;
We, here at CBC, had initially thought of not showing this segment on The National, but to do so would have been complicit in the crime. God Bless the Liberal Party of Canada. Have mercy on it’s soul.
    In other news ….

  25. The president of the Greens was just on Duffy and is he pissed at the Liberals, claiming that VoteForTheEnvironment is staffed and funded by the Liberals and that all Green supporters should vote Green, because every vote counts for funding, that they’re trying to grow the party.
Lieberals are liars, cheats and thieves, the poor Greenies have learned this the hard way.

  26. Sent to not only the offending newspaper, but to the other two local papers and everyone on my local e-addresses.
    _______________________________________________
    Dear Star Editor;
While I am not surprised, I am deeply disappointed in the attempt by your newspaper to influence the outcome of the federal election. I fully accept the endorsement of a party or candidate through thoughtful and measured editorial comment which lays out your reasons for doing so. You however have gone far beyond this by urging people to act in concert in order to prevent the election of the candidates of a particular party.
The headline of your the last publication before the election (Saturday Oct. 11th) touted readers to join in ‘vote swapping’ in an “Anti-Harper Vote”. This was then reinforced by the same writer, Darrell Bellaart on page 4 and by the ‘opinion column’ by Lynn Welburn on the editorial page.
Each of these columns directed readers to a web site where they could ‘swap votes’ with people from other ridings across Canada. Apparently, Mr. Bellaart believes the end justifies the means and that voters from Truro Nova Scotia, Weyburn Saskatchewan and Laval Quebec should have a say in who will be the successful candidate in Nanaimo-Cowichan.
In close ridings, the outcome can be decided by those few who will foresake their own principles and their own preferred candidate, in order to block a candidate who might otherwise be elected by voters in the riding.
Do members of the Green party, believe this to be democratic and ethical? I would ask that readers watch a video clip (http://tinyurl.com/4p9pv7) in which the Green Candidate for Palliser Saskatchewan Larrisa Shasko, while phoning from the Moose Jaw office of the Liberal Candidate Cal Johnston, emplores the NDP candidate to joing them in subverting the process. When Ms. Shasko asks Jim MacDonald the executive director of the Green Party for his blessing his response is: “I hate to say it, but it’s too dangerous for us. We don’t want Elizabeth to be caught out on this”. Not that it’s wrong. But only that “it’s too dangerous” and could make them look bad.
Mr. Bellaart, and indeed your newspaper, needs to re-examine your ethical foundations. The end whether noble or not, lies in the eye of the beholder and you as a community newspaper have an obligation to uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity. You have served the people of Nanaimo badly by publically and crassly supporting the idea of backdoor ‘democracy’ through the use of new technologies being used to alter the natural outcome of local ridings. The shame is yours.

  27. “When I recently had to get a new phone, the young Bell rep. was actually text messaging as he was serving me . . . until I politely requested that he refrain.):
Boy, you sure have a lot more patience than I do. I had to go to 3 or 4 cell stores before I found one that would treat me like a–ummm-ummm-ummm-customer–ummm.
    Horny Toad

  28. So, Horny Toad, you know exactly what I’m talking about!
The Lieberal Party is all toddler, all the time.
The Globe and Mail had a huge article a few years back, exposing who the most dangerous human beings on the planet are: toddlers! The article pointed out that, fortunately, because of their small size, the damage these immature, easily angered to rage human beings can actually do is severely curtailed. Now that the current PC dispensation encourages egoism and arrogance, this isn’t the case, as “adult toddlers” in our left-wing parties and MSM wreak havoc on both common sense and decency.
The deterioration of civilization is altogether evident in the vile behaviour of the left in both Canada and the US, especially during the elections. ‘Not a pretty picture at all.

  29. I notice the MSM not running clips of Harper in their reports predicting that at the end of the campaign, The Libs and Greens would do exactly what we’re seeing now. Isn’t this relevant? Isn’t a clip of Harper stating this fact from the opening day of the election a worthy companion piece to be embedded within their reports? Is it tangential? Of course they like to use Harper’s quotes from the past – the Owen Lippert speech, comments when he was with the NCC, etc – for negative effect… but when his past comments (recent past – this election!!!) make him look good and his Liberal and Green leaders look like liars, we find that they have all lost the clip.

  30. On Liberalpalooza with Don Newman there was a segment called ELECTION LOOK BACK with one guest, Alan Bonner.
Bonner starts off by commenting on Harper’s economics background and says that he offered nothing in spite of it; he took a shot at Layton too on the economy. No jab at Dion, though. No mention of the carbon tax, no mention of the billions in spending unaccounted for in his platform. No mention of Dion at all on this question. By omission, the economic feasibility of his platform must be sound I guess.
Then Newman moves on to question No. 2… asking about the ad campaigns.
Bonner replies by taking a shot at Harper, saying his ads defining Dion did not work and was a complete waste of money.
And just so the viewer doesn’t think that the interview is slanted against the Cons at this point, Newman asks question no. 3 for the sake of “balance”… asking his guest to give comment on Harper’s sweater ad.
Hopefully the Cons can get a majority and chinless Newman will be forced into early retirement.
Not sure if this breaking… But Richardson of CTV is saying that a Liberal-commissioned report on the Cadman tape state that the tapes WERE doctored. I guess there will be more on this to come.

  31. EBD: Thanks for the link to Dizzy lizzy when she didn’t look quite so frumpy but was the same nasty, pushy, ill mannered fool that she is today.
The msm is of the same ilk as Lizzy, IMO.

  32. From ctv now…forensic experts hired by Lib lawyers say the Cadman tape WAS significantly altered.State there was a splice in tape, and it was incomplete.Hope Duff is on this tonite,as Dion is still carping about the tape today.

  33. Elizabeth May is a loon. Were you an “only child liz”? Her inclusion in our debates was an exercise in “political correctness” She really made it apparent that she does not understand that after you have spoken it is then someone else’s turn to speak, “shut your pie hole liz” Any point she might have to share with us is lost, discredited, unwanted when you can’t even follow the most elementary rules of civility she thought it was all about her, her “big moment on the national stage” she morphs into the “class clown” I am thinking this “stop Harper” Routine by “strategically voting” needs a good look by Elections Canada. We can’t win so let’s pee in the punchbowl, way to go I don’t think I will ever take any “green” candidate seriously. first off my vote is MY VOTE it does not belong to squawkey liz or anyone else. I will choose who I will vote for. The only party I see are Stephen Harpers Conservatives they have a plan, been working on it all along, that’s why we don’t have a problem here in Canada. Steffi Dion he has a plan to look for a plan? Of course he has the “green shift” ” it will be good for you” sounds like a cheesy “pick up” line in a “singles bar” The Green’s Vendetta against S.Harper is kinda bizarre actually if you don’t agree with them you are eevil, they are weird actually. Green Meaneys
    Cheers Bubba

  34. She REALLY needs to see a speech coach. The “umm” is not a confidence builder in anyone’s speech. To say nothing of the time it wastes. Every sentence is twice as long as it needs to be.

  35. If you think that’s bad, on Mile Duffy tonight at 6,
Claude Genest (Dep GP Ldr) came out and said the Greens had been “played” by
the Libs. He also said that the two sites (VoteForEnvironment for sure), had
to be fronted by Liberals. Segment is:
    http://watch.ctv.ca/news/mike-duffy-live/monday-oct-13/#clip102209
after Brittany. Clip seems to be getting a lot of accesses right now, so busy. Genest is very pissed!
If these are a front/shill for the Libs, is it a fraud if it always recommends Liberals in the search boxes?

  36. “we need to vote for the government that we want to see but if that means electing a Harper majority government in this riding, we are being forced….blah blah blah”
Is this the type of person that the future holds for the country?
People do vote for the government they want to see…it is called a democracy. There is no “but” nor is their concessions.

  37. Having lived the last six years down south of the border I have been watching both elections with interest and I am afraid to say that from what I’ve heard and seen, if Dijon and Obama both get in then we are in for a world of hurt.
Good Lord, the great “O” was just recorded telling a small business man, a plumber, that everyone should share the wealth!
Anyone know how to get Canadian investments into an offshore account? Before I have to pay a carbon tax on it, I mean.

  38. Judging by the rocket ship to the moon we saw in the U.S. markets today, tomorrow should be a big up day on the TSE.
Since Harper’s fortunes seem to be inexorably linked to the ups and downs of the stock markets for the past two weeks, I’m guessing this will benefit the Tory vote, and give further momentum to his numbers that the weekend polls cannot reflect.
I suspect this election may not be decided until we see the numbers in B.C.

  39. Another reason I seldom tune into the CBC: On their election web site they have a section labeled Audio & Video. To get to a sound bite from the PM or any Conservative I had to go to page 4 and the 11th clip(with a Bloc clip before and after). Fair and Balanced they are not.

  40. Gosh, that Larissa Shasko has a truly annoying, grating voice. Hopefully she will move to New York City; she’d fit right in there, and we’d be well rid of her.

  41. Since I’ve just come back to the Great White North, I went to the guv’mint site to see how to register up here. All I need tomorrow is a driver’s license. Where on that license does it say I am a Canadian citizen? The information about what was required was available in 27 heritage languages and 6 Aboriginal languages. Whatever happened to the 2 Official Languages? To be a citizen of a country and not be able to understand neither of the “official” languages spoken is multiculturalism at it’s finest.

  42. Just moments ago, CBC brought on the expert of all experts to tell us all who will win tomorrow night’s election… this even before the ballots have even been cast.
Who is this person you ask?
    A pollster?
    A pundit?
    A seasoned political veteran?
    No, no, and no again.
Someone with real cred – a tarot card reader.
Your hard-earned tax dollars at work.

  43. Perhaps someone has mused on this thought earlier, Kate. If so, I missed it.
Does this “coalition” stuff hint to anyone that the socialists’ internal polling points to a Conservative majority tomorrow?
Or are they merely making mischief as usual?
