  1. Why do the CP not expose the Libs Green Shift for what it is, tell the people at every oportunity that the green shift will just SHIFT GREEN from our pockets to the govt. accounts as MORE TAXES.
This is getting disgusting listening to the Taxaholic parties rant about insencitivity when their promises will render us all to the poor house.

  2. If Dion was selling horse turds for candy, the CBC would promote his idea. Where do you think the Green Shifters got their support. At 12:00 noon CST I was watching the noon edition of CBC. Even after their own headline on CBC.CA read that Harper had stopped the gap between the CPC and the LPC, Sheilla copps was on the CBC bragging a Liberal victory!! Wake up guys. The CBC is where the rats are hiding!

  3. i am up for that . or is it down for that? what the hell i am against any taxes period.

  4. Capt Bob,
You’ve obviouly heard of the Green Shift. Now my question, is “Have you heard of Turning the Corner?”. This is the more expensive Conservative version that Mr. Harper doesn’t want to talk about. Where is John Baird the environment minister? He has gone underground in this election because since he is not allowed to talk about the Conservative plan, he has nothing to talk about. This Taxpayer Federation initiative doesn’t identify the Green shift specifically. It also addresses the Conservative plan and the NDP Cap and trade plan. As much as Mr Harper would like to lead you to believe that the only environmental plan out there that will raise your energy costs is the Liberal one, it’s simply not true. They are all proposed Carbon taxes. Conservatives have no high ground on this.

  5. capt_bob: “Why do the CP not expose the Libs Green Shift for what it is, tell the people at every oportunity that the green shift will just SHIFT GREEN from our pockets to the govt. accounts as MORE TAXES.” — Really, I think they have. It is just that noone is paying attention. They are instead just swept away by the current hysteria. Many votes on Tuesday (for Libs, NDP and Greens) will be all about irrational fears . . . and not at all about common sense.

  6. Do I understand the carbon tax correctly? I will pay more for my gas at the pump, more for my utilities because of natural gas, and i wil be able to get this back at income tax time. Should I save all my gas receipts for Mr. Dion? Or do I have to retrofit my house to make it green before this can happen and all the renos are revenue neutral? How dumb do you think we are?

  7. We have lost this fight already! The first comment was right, too little too late. Preston Manning has been trying to warn Albertans for two years now; but, it’s too late.
As I commented before, we have been betrayed by the Conservatives. All of our politicians are in agreement(north and south) that they need to act now. Why, to save the world? No. The urgency is because the wheels are falling off the AGW train and they MUST put a price on Carbon before it’s too late. Once the C$$ are established it won’t matter if the AGW theory is debunked(in the main stream), the government will conveniently not be able to afford to eliminate the boogieman tax.
    Checkmate.
If any of us have a brain, we will redirect our efforts to a fight we are losing but that we haven’t lost yet ie… HRC’s

  8. Sorry, G&M says Harper not allowed to criticize green shift, that would be way too negative.
Anyway, where’s his plan to screw the Canadian economy? See, see, he has no plan.

  9. On the other side of this issue ‘apolitical’ Andrew Weaver and 123 other scientists are pushing Kyoto.
“We are at a critical juncture in Canadian history. The 14th United Nations Conference of Parties to the Climate Change Convention will be held in December in Poland and COP15 will follow next December in Copenhagen. It is at this latter meeting that a post-Kyoto global warming treaty will be proposed. It is critical that Canada play a constructive role in negotiations leading up to this event.
In the last two years, Canada has obstructed international efforts to develop policies to deal with global warming. At the 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Uganda, Canada scuttled attempts aimed at getting consensus on a strongly worded commitment to greenhouse gas reduction.”

  10. I forgot.
I am happy that Canada has been stonewalling the international transfer of wealth. I’m just pissed off that they are going ahead with it internally. That is one good thing about Harper comapred to Dion and Layton. They would have us send our money to our enemies via Kyoto; whereas, Harper will turn the corner but stay on our block.

  11. Remember the NEP people, that was just good old Lieberal fun dragging the whole country down with a recession and the laying the groundwork for 23 percent interest. These lieberals are just a laugh a minute, when Pearson took over Canada we were 750,000 in debt. When we were finally rid of the communist Peeair Turdeau, Canada was 230 billion in debt, then we went into the recession of 1982, interest went to 23 percent and there was no work here in Alberta because of the communist NEP lieberals drove the drilling industry out! I remember the 2 mile long lineup of rigs at the Coutts border crossing. Mulroney inherited the lieberals huge debt and interest went crazy, the signs are all the same as 1981 right now, add in the GREEN SHAFT and find some valium folks.

  12. why is the peoples network CBCpravda not showing us the way to this website. surely they must think less taxes on the hoipolloi would be a good thing.
since the CBC costs 1500/year per viewer with it 7% viewership they should be looking at increasing their audience by making friends with the great unwashed.

  13. Someone should figure out what a loaf of bread would cost with Dion’s or any carbon taxes.
‘The purpose of any leavener is to produce the gas that makes bread rise. Yeast does this by feeding on the sugars in flour, and expelling carbon dioxide in the process.’
