  1. Just another strategy of an aggressive propaganda campaign, link all other issues to “the cause”. It’s all due to Global Warming don’t ya see!
hmmm… I wonder if we can also blame the rise of Islamofascism on Global Warming? Must be a link there somewhere eh? 😉

  2. I think the real problem is that the farmers are not longer deworming the sheep at regular intervals. The article even says this is so, yet somehow the lack of proper veterinary care is being blamed on global warming.
I bet if we stop treating dogs for fleas, global warming will cause there to be more fleas than ever, eh?

  3. I’ve never had Haggis but guts lungs and oatmeal don’t sound like a winning combination.
That said, the linked article seems to contradict the global warming cause for increased lung worm by noting that farmers are only giving medical attention to sick animals rather than inoculating the entire herd.
But global warming is the cause…..sheesh!

  4. “I’ve never had Haggis but guts lungs and oatmeal don’t sound like a winning combination.”
It’s not bad at all when consumed in the traditional manner, while drinking massive quantities of beer and/or single-malt. 😀

  5. Yin and Yang. How the Scots could have come up with Haggis and with Malt Scotch has always mystified me! I’ll stick with Glen Livet; somebody else can have my share of Haggis. 🙂

  6. Haggis isn’t too bad, but I found I like it better with brown sauce.
But I never thought I’d read the following:
“The sad fact is that the disease is causing the lungs to be condemned for human consumption because of the lung worm damage,” he added.

  7. Total sidebar, but Kate, you have mentioned this group before, and we need to mobilize Canadians.
AVAAZ, the US group funded by Wall Street billionaire George Soros, is openly intervening in our federal election. They are running a $150,000 campaign to defeat three Conservative candidates across Canada – Randy Kamp, John Baird and Peter MacKay.
That is a serious violation of our elections laws – third parties who are registered can only spend about $150,000 nationally and $3600 per riding. Instead, they are looking to spend $50,000 per riding.
It is the height of outrage that a group based in New York has the gall to come to Canada and tell us how to vote. Can you imagine if some US group was telling Canadians not to vote Liberal or NDP how much media outrage there would be?
We need to make this scandal public, and I’m hoping you folks will do what you always do and bring it to the MSM’s attention.
As well, you should tell AVAAZ just what you think of their anti-democratic campaign. You can reach Ricken Patel, their director, at ricken@avaaz.org. You can also call them at this number from their website – 613 222 2573 or another number from elections canada 613-608-3047
We need to stop this kind of foreign intervention in OUR election!

  8. For those of you that don’t know, here in Saskatoon we had a cougar from the states roaming our streets. The cougar was shot and there was anger vocalized by many that the situation could have been handled differently.
The reason for the preamble is a caller on the Cory Kolt radio show connected the “tragedy” to global warming. She said that unseasonably warm weather caused the cougar to migrate too far north which resulted in its death.
That could be true, but I think it’s more likely that it was just another American dodging the war.

  9. Check out Jane Taber’s story today on the Globe and Mail’s website regarding the Carbon Tax.
Apparently, Dion told a Halifax audience today that he will go ahead with it regardless of the economy because it will stimulate economic activity.
    Now, get this …
Meanwhile, in Montreal, Iggy is telling reporters that the Liberals might not implement it right away. Maybe only bring in some essential elements. You know, nothing to worry about. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
    Whose telling the truth?
And which parts are “essential”? I’d bet that we’ll just get the carbon taxes. The tax cuts and programs will be put on hold.
And, what’s this about stimulating the economy with a carbon tax?
Remember, this is Dion. The same guy introduced by Martin and Goodale yesterday. He knows economics!
Carbon tax = good for economy!! Believe it. Dion said it.

  10. ya can find many cougars in the local college bars, don’t know if many are americans though

  11. Rider Pride, if you have good evidence of these allegations, the place to go is not the putrid MSM, but to Elections Canada or the RCMP.
On the topic of the post itself, it would indeed be tragic if the noble haggis comes in short supply because of negligent farming practice. The noble haggis is scottish delight; you may need the courage of whisky to sample for the first time, but after that you will be more hooked on the haggis than on the whisky.

  12. Somewhere along the line I picked up the notion that really authentic haggis uses half digested oatmeal already in the stomach of the recently departed lung worm host. While I’ve never had an outright denial of this from alleged experts, I suspect this is another of the tall tales surrounding the item.
One of my ancestors of the clan MacLean was very forthright about his dislike for all the “Burns Bullshit” and squealing bagpipes nonsense that he considered music hall farce.
One evening as he sat by the lake, a music student was practicing his pipes while marching along the shore. On his return leg the piper stopped for a friendly chat and to break the ice asked, “Do you find the pipes sound better played nearby on the shore by the water or while I was over there across the water?”
“I think they sound better played under the water” was Mr MacLean’s unhelpful answer.

  13. Apopros of Indiana Homez’s comment, please feel free to handle American military deserters the same way you Canucks handled the American cougar roaming the streets of Saskatoon.

  14. Anybody notice the reference in the story that lungworm increase is due to changes in how the animals are -medicated-? Global warming or lack of proper antibiotics? Oooo, that’s a hard one!
