Just to give the rope a final twist. Stephane Dion launches a whine offensive;
Asked about the polls, Dion lashed out at Harper for a campaign of character-assassination against him that has misrepresented him and his policies.
“Never has a government spent so much to destroy a person and his policies as Harper has towards me,” Dion said during a campaign event in Stoney Creek, Ont., just outside Hamilton.
He said the leaders’ debates Wednesday and Thursday will allow him to reach out to voters and illustrate that neither he nor his policies bear any resemblance to the picture painted by Harper and his party’s aggressive attack ads.
“I think Canadians are dying to vote Liberal,” he said.
Update! – I was actually joking about this with a friend a few moments before the story came up on the Star, in a “Dion goes Lizzy May” angle… “Liberals urge strategic voting to stop Conservatives”.
Bwaaahaaahaaa!

“Never has a government spent so much to destroy a person and his policies as Harper has towards me,”
Yep, let’s forget about the recent Liberal attack ads.
Dunce.
“Never has a government spent so much to destroy a person and his policies as Harper has towards me”
Not true, the Liberals spent a bundle tearing into Stockwell Day AND Stephen Harper. Too bad for you Stephi, Canadians are smarter now.
They are dying to vote liberal?? Then why are they not willing to do that?
I think he means: “All canadians vote liberal all the time, except when reality is distorted”.
They are dying to vote liberal? Ummm…. I think their dead; in the water, up a creek with a boat and no paddle. Please, I hope no one feels the need to throw them a lift jacket……..skin or swim.
I think Canadians are dying, to vote Liberal.
RE: “Never has a government spent so much to destroy a person and his policies as Harper has towards me,”
Hard to feel sorry for Mr. Dion and his short, selective memory.
I remember Chretien going after Mr. Manning and telling Canadians that he grew up thinking that conservatives were devils that ate babies and not a word was said against him. He was a Christian ya know.
The thrashing that Stockwell Day took, Barney Doll and all, was horrific. The term Evangelical Fundamentalist Christian was spit out by Liberals and their official mouthpiece, the CBC, like some kind of dirty word.
And who can forget Martin’s attempt at demonizing Harper. Aircraft Carriers, soldiers in our streets, turning Canada into USA’s 51st state, and terrified women huddling in hospitals….
The Conservatives are rank amateurs compared to all the Liberal spewage we have been faced with the past 13 years.
“I think Canadians are dying to vote Liberal,” he said.

Sign seen in an ER waiting room recently.
I AM SO FED UP THE SURREAL ISSUES THAT ARE BEING BROUGHT FORTH, In this capaign THE WHINING, NON ISSUES,the buying OF MY VOTE where do these guys come from? I am totally turned OFF. The party leaders are not doing anything for the country. Nothing of imporance is being discused. The world is now in turmoile and will be for longer than you or I thinK. I WILL VOTE , for the person who I think has most common sense.
Dion – complaining about the use of negative ads ??
Tell it to your bud;
“Kicking Ass…or how I became the Prince of Darkness”
“That spring I was a member of a small group of Liberal staffers doing our utmost to make life utterly unbearable for Campbell, attempting to link her to assorted scandals, leaking damaging material to reporters and generally depicting her in the most unflattering light possible. It was rewarding work.”
Guess who.
the rise of the ndp shows how pathetic the liberals really are. The neo-rhinos will have a leg up soon.
Arpurr hasnated me!
Here is one of the weirdest articles by Canadian Press ever.
Complete gibberish; incoherent nonsense. Must be a script of Dionky’s next bray.
Forget the comments; it’s the usual suspects.
…-
“Harper accuses opponents of ‘talking down’ Canadian economy”
http://tinyurl.com/4z33yc (via G-M)
Dion does not understand that he assassinated his own character. All his career was a political suicide.
“If you don’t vote Liberal, Canada will go into a major economic crisis,” said Ignatieff.
Ahhhh… This from the party accusing ‘Arper of campaigning on fear.
Yeah, Right!
“I think Canadians are dying, to vote Liberal.”
Syncrodox, Priceless! Maybe in Tombstone, Arizona.
I think the LIEberals should get down on their knees and pray that I don’t lose my faith.
43 times the LIEberal ‘leader’ has behaved like a DIONkey on confidence votes and retreated from the field.
Unfortunately, that is not leadership that is a full scale route. Falling on your sword 43 times shows a bit of a death wish.
When one’s constant refrain is “Advance to the REAR, quick march” this is not consonant with leadership.
Even when PMSH pulled the plug on Parliament, Dion failed to author his own demise.

Time to focus on the NDP for sure. Let’s imagine a Canada run by Jack Layton. What would it look like after four years?
Would anything be left?
….He said the leaders’ debates Wednesday and Thursday will allow him to reach out to voters and illustrate that neither he nor his policies bear any resemblance to the picture painted by Harper and his party’s aggressive attack ads….
would that be like the summer campaign that would know and love stephane by getting to know him ?
Talk about missed opportunity! I saw local news tonight and found out dion was in my humble hamlet of Winona (aka stoney creek) and standing invitingly close to the lake…
(Do ya tink it’s izzy to dry off when local oaf push you in da lake?)
I’d just like to second Kate:
BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!
Canadians want a government that appeals to their dreams instead of pandering to their fears, a government with a plan, not an ideology
Iggy, Iggy, Iggy. Are you f—ing kidding me? Talk about the pot and the kettle.

May denies reports she supports strategic voting
The Canadian Press
September 27, 2008
HALIFAX — Green party Leader Elizabeth May ended her cross-country train tour in Halifax Saturday, denying reports she’s urging supporters to vote strategically in a bid to unseat the Conservatives.

Now, now, wyatt salt, lets be a little more civil. Were better than that.
I wonder how much the liberals spent trying to link KHS with Mulroney and Harper? Oh,sorry, that was the cbc spending millions, sometimes it is difficult to tell the two apart. Someone should spray them with a hose.
Joanne noted, think of a Canada run by Layton, what would it be like after four years.
I live in BC, and have experienced NDP government first hand.
It would ruin the country.
I wrote about this last night, called it “Dippernomics”.
Breaking News…
In a related story, Citoyen Dion, citizen of France, surrenders…
Bwaaahaaahaaa!
Aww, look at that.
Another little footnote in the history books.
BTW, I think Footnote Dion would be doing better if he had his righthand man Gerard Kennedy guiding him.
BTW where is Mr Kennedy?
heh.
Maz2, I read silly CP article. The author has been reduced to providing Grit talking points, telling us what Liberals might say about Harper’s comments.
As for the debate, I predict Dion will either be a little mouse in the corner, or do a complete meltdown, likely in the English version.
No way he touches Harper, who has to simply fend off combined attack, to secure at least greatly increased minority, with majority now a distinct possibility, given the abysmal performances of Dion and Layton (May is irrelevant).
Duceppe, at least, has managed to secure his base, so look for lively exchanges between him and Harper.
For pure character assasination, and personal attacks, mo one has come close to Trudeau’s assault on Joe Clark. They used slow motion video, distorted photographs, bad angle shots of Clark’s chubby chin, and on, amd on. It ruined Clark’s career, and probably turned him into the nutcase he is today.
kennedy is fighting for a seat in High Park, Toronto, against the incumbent, Peggy Nash, NDP. It’s an extremely tight race. There are a zillion lawn signs – and it’s hard to know who is ahead.
As for the debates – I wonder if the fight will be so much against Harper, as a fight by the four Left Parties, amongst themselves.
The race is – who will be Second? NDP or Liberal? That possibility, a tectonic shift, is a stunning reality. How has it happened?
Was it because Harper, knowing that Canada has been locked into a Cocoon of centrist socialism for the last 50 years, moved the CPC closer to that domain..but also, importantly, recognized and redefined the nature of ‘middle Canada’ by focusing on the emerging class of small to medium businesses (rather than the Big City Govt Funded professionals)?
The Liberals, instead of acknowledging this new class, hung on to the Old Guard of Govt Funded Professionals..and made the fatal error of moving further and further to the Left. This ignores that new middle class.
And, instead of developing policy for their Party, they spent the last two years trying to dig up smears against Harper.
The NDP? Weird. After all, they’ve always been the Party of the Lunch Pail Worker, despite that reality that such a Worker in most cases earns more than any small/medium business and is as cocooned as any govt employee. But they at least have remained tied to a set of policies.
May? I admit I can’t stand to listen to her non-stop tirades. But she’s the Environmental Lady (not that she knows a thing about it as a science)..and she’ll actually function to harm Dion – because he’s taken so much of her verbiage as a cover for the Green Shaft Tax Grab.
This reminds me of final days in the 1993 election when my local Progressive Conservative MP finally grabbed a clue and in a fit of panic began his door-knocking campaign. His limo (I kid you not) was parked, badly hidden, at the end of our street and he and his suits (one being the limo-driver) literally ran (well the MP waddled at a fast clip) up and down the block trying to alert the dead to the horror that was about to befall them – he and many other colleagues were about to lose their jobs.
The vote on the right was split between the Reformers and the PC’s. We had a Reform sign on our lawn so naturally we got to meet the big man himself, who literally pleaded with us to change our vote. Given the ride and the attire it was most undignified – pathetic and funny at the same time. The rest is history as was he and the Progressive Conservative Party.
I am now envisioning the same ignoble end for the Liberal Party of Canada as we know it. It took two elections to do it but come October 15th, they may surely wish it hadn’t as that humble pie is well beyond its ‘best by’ date and will be ever so much more putrid.
The original thought in Dion’s peabrain was “I think Canadians are dying because they voted Liberal” but after translating from French to Stupid to English it actually came out as “I think Canadians are dying to vote Liberal”
Despite my best intentions to try to be nice to all people, some folks are just looking for an a$$ kickin….
I really gotta get this off my chest…”STUPID LIBERALS”
Now I feel better…where’s the rye….
Just a thought: no doubt the Liberal bear is wounded, floundering in space. Just as we were a couple of years back.
Should we win the Holy Grail of Cdn politics, ie the coveted majority, then we’ll have 3.5-4.5 years to right the Good Ship Canada and show Canadians that their country is in responsible hands.
To think that the Left will fade away is wishful thinking. They’ll regroup just as we did, perhaps with a merger and that would be a good thing: to keep us in check so to speak.
So let’s make this shot count, drop the bear in its tracks, and make the country better after the election.
Kate:
I’m not so sure that the NDs should be attacked. to do so would drive it support largely one of two ways – to the greens and to the LP. With May looking as bad as she does (and how bad will she be in the debates?)I think that many will return to the LP fold if the NDs are made radioactive (whicn is a possibility if the truthers story has legs).
The reason why I couch the above with a “not so sure” is because I know that the CP has done polling in the past the shows a significant portion of the ND support actually could vote for the CP with crime and punishment being the big motivator along with other urban blue collar issues.
ET:
Are you Michael K. who hate Muslim in past 4 years
????
+++++++++++++++
In addition:
I think you need to cool down a bit and try to vote but try to no supporte liars too in any shape or any execuse
The biggese problems in Canda lack of honest leadership so far and good politic direction!
The news of truth of Sep 11 was brought up by
not conservative and Harper who was visited Afganstan very closely
it means for 3years Harper did not let anybody know the truth about Sep 11 that was not Muslim
instead all blogs of conservative used Muslim as issue to bit Muslim up to find criminals
it was lefi as you said or oppostition who brought bill i bleived it was in british Coblimbia and you keep call them “lesbi.”
as made fun of them
Therefore if Dion fired that lady in Liberal
should not link with Sep 11 it is link to she may not know and not proof to say something yet
with enough documetn by government yet
I am not sure
but it also do not proof Harper and conservative are truthfuill p eopel and if they come up they care about Muslim Candaian too
sorry We still not get convinced to vote to any body yet
No Harper yet until he learned to
tell his stupid jduge in Canda do not lie
adn say ” NO CAUSE OF ACTION” when all truth was reveal only becase they do not like to support small or Muslim people
Harper must promise and otehr party as well
to do equal right for Candaian
do not let LOBLAW COMPANIES SELL FRUAD HALAL
in Canada because they can lie and steal busienss and and bring all son of dogs to do any illegal
Finally Canada is catching up to me. If Steven is able to secure a majority it will be a crowning moment in my life, I sat in 1968 and watched that commie, Canada bankrupting Turdeau buying Coke for everyone in the house to win the leadership, I was 12 and I said to my father, that is blackmail. This country has for forty years been run for the benifit of a certian family in Quebec and a few other theives like Mao Stlong, and finally if PMSH can win a majority Canada will be run for the benifit for ALL CANADIANS. Please give an honest man, a conservative, a family man, a majority, even you liberals evolution has forgotten will not be sorry.
NDP is support more in MUSLIM right so far and
in multiculrism and human right so far
not Liberal or Conservative
but still I need more research about new NDP group here in Toronto
Never has a government spent so much to destroy a person and his policies as Harper has towards me;
What a load of bunk. Even an economic moron like myself can see the disaster this plan will cause & who its targeted at. The Conservatoiioves don’t need a dime to sell this as the white elephant it is. The cowardly lion is at it again.
JMO
DaninVan;
My worry is that anyone with any small c conservative ideals will automatically be put threw a PC filter that no one but red Tories need apply. The guy who spoke about the cowardice on the bus was right. They where not hero’s. Is running away now the Canadian standard of honor?
If Harper is against his support for gun ownership is he also for the gun registry? He sure hasn’t stopped it. We all know as well that we have an immigration problem. I suppose elections are not for talking about that as well.
Tired myself of the politico’s setting priorities & agendas for us. It should be the other way around.
By the way I agree with your point on being a public figure , but still don’t we all deserve free speech to find out what these folks really think instead of the party line?
I must say I completely agree that once they are voted in they become drones of said party. Like Australia I think we should vote separately for a PM. That may lessen the strangle hold of party whips on back benchers.
“Never has a government spent so much to destroy a person and his policies as Harper has towards me,
Gee I pity the Liberals….poor them someone is attacking and destroying them. Just remember what the Liberals did to Stockwell Day.
That makes what is happening to the liberals all that much sweeter………..what goes around comes around

Lesley Hughes is a member of the Ba’hai faith, whose cornerstone, she said in a 1998 online report of a “Faith in the Newsroom” workshop, “is that the law is love.” she is rich too!!
Two years ago, she was a supporter of the United Nations Platform for Action Committee (Manitoba), or UNPAC for short, and did a radio interview with the “Femme Fiscale”, a superheroine created by the group, who “flew into the Manitoba Legislature to ask how Budget 2006 would make life better for the province’s women
She also has written a one-woman play, Bloomberg’s Radio, launched in 2002 at the city’s famous Fringe Festival.
It was there that the first glimmer of what was to come may have showed itself, for in an interview, Ms. Hughes told the writer Morley Walker, “Both U.S. and Canada have become quasi-security states” because of laws passed since the Sept. 11 attacks.
“We just haven’t found that out yet,” she said. “And the mainstream media in North America are doing little to challenge this.”
Then came the story she wrote called “Get the Truth” and which cost her the candidacy, and which read, in part, “Israeli businesses which had offices in the Towers, vacated the premises a week before the attacks, breaking their lease to do it. About 3,000 Americans working there were not so lucky.”
It was no one-hit wonder, either. According to one of the many 9/11 conspiracy websites, Stop Lying, Ms. Hughes was part of a “push for truth” about 9/11 in Winnipeg in the spring of last year.
At an evening called “Code of Silence” hosted by Barrie Zwicker, who has written a book and produced a documentary on the “media coverup” of 9/11, Ms. Hughes was part of a panel discussion on the same subject.
Funny, but eight years ago, when Stockwell Day was running for the leadership of the old Canadian Alliance, Free Press columnist Gordon Sinclair Jr. wrote about an encounter Ms. Hughes, then a freelancer, had with Mr. Day.
She approached Mr. Day to ask what she called “an awkward question.”
The question was, “Jim Keegstra [the Alberta Holocaust denier convicted of promoting hatred against Jews] claims to be a friend of yours” and “that he would vote for you.”
Mr. Day was upset, and Ms. Hughes said, and I can imagine her smarmy smugness, “The part of the country you come from has struggled with a lot of ugly movements.
“I’m thinking here about the whole neo-Nazi thing and racism of a very virulent kind.”
Well, what goes around comes around, even to a good leftie Canuck.

Springer:
Hey, in Ontario, we lived through 4 years of Bob Rae. Yet we still elect Smilin’ Jack, Olivia Chowhound, and other NDP morons.
But in the Conservative campaign I’m working on, we have a standard joke in the office “Voting Liberal is like having sex with a condom. What’s the point?” (i.e. it defeats the purpose (procreation) and eliminates the pleasure). If someone wants to vote left wing, have the nuts to vote NDP; otherwise, vote Tory. Voting Lieberal is just wishy-washy, half-way thinking.

Sounds like Dion needs to change his first name to Celine in order to get any popularity.

“Did I said I took 5 master courses also at UofT”
And, with grammar and diction like that, if you passed any of them, I’d be amazed. Don’t confuse attendance with, um, actual learning.
I like french men, they have heart and they look very very kind people and more polite
white people do not have heart and cold and rude
with full of word of F S and Sex and etc mouth
now Dion got emotion since he does not know how to deal with bad boy Harper and how to act with his cold smile
Harper is scary to me even if I do not vote to anybody yet still thinking
Angus Reid: Con-40%, NDP-21%, Lib-21%, BQ-10%, Gn-7%
http://www.angusreidstrategies.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=news&newsid=321
Also: “In the preferred prime minister question, Harper remains ahead of his rivals with 33 per cent (+1), followed by Layton with 18 per cent (-1), Dion with nine per cent, Duceppe with three per cent, and May with two per cent.”
Conclusions:
– With Liberal brand at 21% and Dion at 9%, that means more than half the Liberal brand supporters do not like Dion.
– With NDP and Liberals tied at 21%, and Layton at 18% versus Dion at 9%, Layton can legitimately promote strategic voting in favour of the NDP.
– With the spread between the Conservatives and Liberals so large, the H&K Seat Predictor gives Conservatives 166 MPs .. a majority.
– With the Liberals sinking in the polls, the BQ could rise to Official Opposition Party rank, requiring a big strategic shift from Liberal to NDP to win second place and deny the BQ OOP status.
– With Liberal support sinking so low, it’s probable that Liberal vote may only be in the teens on election day due to poor voter turnout for Liberals.
Most all other polling shows the same results.
“yet still thinking”
How can we be sure?
New as in New Democratic Party??
