I think once this gets going, and as I said yesterday once this hits full stride, the Barack Obama campaign’s going to realize what a loser choice it made in putting Joe Biden on the ticket, mark my words. There’s going to be a huge reversal of this by the time this all shakes out. But why are they trying to force her off the ticket? If she’s this big a trailer trash, and if she’s so inexperienced, why not leave her there? She should be easy to beat, right? Well, that’s the key. They’re scared to death of her. They are frightened like they haven’t been frightened in a long time. They thought they had succeeded in nullifying and eliminating the conservative wing of the Republican Party. They thought that they had succeeded in creating an impression among Americans at large that conservatism was in disfavor, that it was in a funk, that it was a minority, and here comes Palin, Sarah Palin just in her being, in her essence, simply destroys every myth and every lie that the liberals have told us that they want in women.
Bingo.

Any news leaks about potential Joe Biden “health issues” yet?
On my way to lunch, Rush played Biden’s little speech last night where he promised to prosecute Bush administration if they’re elected. This morning, when confronted by the Fox reporter, he flatly denied it. Rush played both the speech fragment and the denial.
Why didn’t the Republican go after Biden the way Democrats went after Palin? As Napoleon said, don’t interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake. We want Biden to stay on the ticket. He’s a gift to the Republican ticket.
I wonder how many viewers will be tuned to Fox News tonight when those two Irishmen O’Reiley and O’Bama have their little Donnybrook?

Wow… if there’s one thing Gov. Palin does is brings out the hateful, malicious qualities in lefites. Not that it’s tough to do but she REALLY seems to have got them frothing at the mouth. If she was such a nobody then she wouldn’t be a threat and there’d be no need for character assassination. But the left is running scared because their golden boy has been exposed as being anything but the second coming so the straw man arguments are coming from every angle.
If the dems aren’t completely panicking, why don’t they just let their wonderful and enlightened policies speak for themselves? Why don’t they let their candidate’s records (as few and far between as they are) stack up against the reps and let the people decide who best represents their interests? No you’ll never see that… and in a few months you’re gonna see a whoooole lot of disaffected lefties licking their wounds. In fact this election is going to be very similar to last year’s Superbowl – where the all-but-crowned presumptive victor gets their collective ass handed to them.

I think Obama understands that he must remain focussed on McCain.
He also knows that Democrat obsessing and fussing over Palin represents a wasting distraction for the party but an excellent tactical diversion for the Republicans.
I believe that, unless he can get things back on track (in other words, get the contest back to himself versus McCain and Biden versus Palin), he risks spending the remainder of the campaign fighting Palin.
As bloody obvious as it is, someone needs to remind his supporters that this is a competition for the Presidency, not the second-string position!.
They don’t seem to get it; they’re doing him and their cause no favours.

So more people than the population of Canada tuned in to Palin’s speech. The VP of the Rep ticket pulled in about as many viewers as the #1 slot on the Dem ticket.
So McCain should be hitting about 45 million viewers, on proportional basis.

David, again, what’s your point? That is exactly the message you would give to a religious assemblage. But more importantly – explain exactly what’s wrong with the message? The sentiment is universal, not fundamentalist.
The Left does not know how to deal with Sarah Palin. They stake out their playing field with movable goal posts, but they aren’t sure where to move the posts because Sarah scores from any angle.
She is a ‘real’ woman and feminist in one package. Liberal women simply cannot multitask at that level. She confuses them to no end.

Obama’s speech was carried on 10 networks; Palin’s on 6. Sarah Palin’s speech wasn’t carried by these 4: BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo.
∴ if Palin had been carried by those other networks, her viewership would have outstripped Obama’s.
Media bias. Nontheless, Lieutenant Governor Sarah Palin trounced Obama in more way than one.

What media response I’ve seen to Palin so far would be amusing were it not so pathetic. Someone wrote her speech for her; as if every politician does not have a team of people working on speeches. Even Ronald Reagan, who had been writing masterful speeches for years before he became President, still employed a crack team of writers, including Peggy Noonan. If Obama did write his own acceptance speech, all by himself,it would explain why, as a speech, it was so forgettable. Take away the Nuremberg-like setting and the styrofoam columns, and it was a rather pedestrian oratorical event.
And Gov. Palin is “shrill”; to be fair, many on the right (and not-so-right) found Hillary “shrill”. Some people just don’t like the sound of women’s voices when projected above the level of pillow talk. I suspect, however, that for many reporters and commentators, “shrill” meant only that she talked back, and, worse, spoke critically and dismissively of their Beloved.
Perhaps some fastidious Easterners were put off by Palin’s flat, somewhat nasal accent, just as they are by President Bush’s Texas accent (unfortunately, the word “nuclear” won’t go away).
Did those same reporters have the same trouble listening to Congresswoman Patricia Schroeder, who bored on for years in a flat Colorado accent, delivered through teeth that never unclenched?
Gov. Palin also drops her “g”s, but she does so honestly and naturally, quite unlike the Wellesley girl who, depending on the audience, tried to sound like Jimmy Hoffa, Gloria Steinem, or Aunt Jemima.
David employs my favourite Liberal “debating” technique: simply quoting his opponent’s words without further comment, as if the stupidity of said words is self-evident.
They never get the joke that the very words they are quoting tend to be those that most average poeple would read and say, “Er, so? What’s your point?”
Zerb does it, the Lying Jackal does it. Neither of them are terribly influential and successful. It’s fun up to a point to snip away at the ankles of someone like Palin. But Palin’s up on the podium, not them and not David.
I wonder after last night how much Obama is kicking himself for not making a sweet deal with Hillary for his VP slot. McCain, bless his heart, has in the best chess move taken advantage of that. It really changes the left’s McCain paradigm of old guy to mentally nimble old guy with fresh ideas. Biden has to be second to Ted Kennedy as one of the most boring insider hacks out there.
Being mentally slow water carriers for Obama the MSM is really in a world of hurt now. Can’t trot out the old feminist victim hags to trash her as they are too ridiculous. Yeah, I do not expect that Biden will last till election day. In about a month, look for the Dem’s answer to Sarah Palin to be unveiled, and as a previous poster noted, Joe Biden to drop out because of health reasons. Only by then it will be too late, in point of fact, it was too late any time after the announcement of the Senator from Master Card as running mate.
With hindsight, that will be the moment that, metaphorically speaking, the tide began to turn and Washington started to heal itself.

Until the day “firing codes” no longer exist, I hope they stay in the hands of strong, traditional Americans. Anyone who thinks we’re going to survive the onslaught of attacks from the middle eastern hordes without using the big guns is simple minded. Those firing codes are the reason we’re living our lives in relative comfort, while everyone else is peering through the glass with hungry eyes. If you’d like to go outside with them, be my guest.

Hitler killed millions of people; McCain is just running for president.” I told her to be patient. She’ll be seeing “Harper = Hitler” signs soon enough.
