I didn’t bother to watch the speech, since it will be replayed ad nauseam from now to the election (B. Hussein Obama’s bid to become “America’s November Criminal”). I defer to an expert, who thought the Temple of Obama looked like a window display at Macy’s:
Peggy Noonan, Obama Gets Serious
Will it work? We’ll see the polls on the final convention bounce soon. We’ll know some of the answer then. But I have a feeling this speech will be like the Europe trip. It will take time for people to let it sink in, and decide what they think. And I’ll tell you, Mr. Obama left a lot of space for Mr. McCain to play the happy warrior next week. He left the Republicans a big opportunity to wield against him, in contrast, humor, and wit, and even something approximating joy.
That video of Obama claiming responsibility for the WTC attacks was faked! Everyone with a brain could see that!
I think it’s an error to assume that Obama is, ‘just himself’, i.e., an individual. He isn’t. As an individual, as has been pointed out, he’s empty.
There’s nothing there; no experience, no track record of a personal ideology about the ‘best way for America and the world’ that he works towards, that he introduces Motions towards. Nothing. This superficiality has been very useful to the Democrats.
There are, admittedly, in this empty vessel, a few unwashed particles that have to be swept aside: his long years of support for an anti-American, anti-white ‘church’, his long years of affilation with ‘less than stalwart’ businessmen. These have been dealt with and washed out..
Obama, as empty, is available to the Democratic Backroom to be moulded into a Force that they hope will sweep the vote.
The Force – is fascist in nature. Fascism is an emotional political ideology that defines the Nation as having an a priori ‘internal’ Essentialist Nature. It has an inherent Destiny. Tap into this pure Destiny…and you will be Pure, Wealthy, Noble and etc.
It is very clever of the Democrat BackRoom to set up Obama as a SYMBOL, as a representative of this innate essentialist Force of ..Good, Purity, Nobility etc..
They can do this because Obama is, himself, empty.
Obama’s speech was a clear tactic of inserting himself into the depth of this Essential Force of America, removing attention from Obama as an individual (remember, he’s empty) and instead defining him as a Symbol of that deep Force of History. This deep Force is always Pure, Noble and Utopian…and as far from real life as possible.
Now – do the American people want fascism or democracy?
Democracy rests within the actual world of reality. The debates, the dissent, the doubt, the decisions that are made and must be changed when context changes. Democracy is messy, there’s no purity, no utopian ‘final state’ of peace and certainty.
Since fascism rests within a fictional utopian world, dissent and debate and even doubt are not allowed. We’ve already seen this in the Democrat Backroom’s rejection of town hall debates (which would show that Obama as an individual is empty); and their attempts to stop debate and criticism of Obama.
Again, do the American people want fascism or democracy?
He left the Republicans a big opportunity to wield against him, in contrast, humor, and wit…
Humour? Wit?
Such things can only come from a quick, developed mind that is free to think and speak (without being an asshole, of course). Lefties read from a script, no spontaneity allowed – unless of course it involves smashing things and loudly, childishly trashing the opponent. Usually the brainwashed shock troops do this for them at arm’s length, posing as “concerned citizens”.
If he could accomplish half of what he promised in his speech, he would go down in history as the greatest president ever, and you could give him that title for future history as well.
He promised to fix everything from medicare to gas prices and anyone who believes him is an idiot and a fool.
I thought it was a great speech. If only I could have joined Him on stage!
Reading these comments is fascinating. Most of these opinions aren’t about Obama’s speech; they’re about how the writer ALREADY felt about Obama. Here, they’re just using the speech as a way to talk about their already-existing thoughts. Why are people so concerned that people really like Obama? God forbid America have a candidate that has enthusiastic support. A “cult?” Please. Are you really that afraid of him?
darn those republicans. usurping Hillary on her chance . note the code in this CTV(tass) it says obama election but its a republican story.

Obama Election? What the hell?
I just looked at a Washington Post article speculating on McCain’s choice for running mate and it had an ad linking to Obama’s website! Well at least we know what side the media is on!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/29/AR2008082901112.html?hpid=topnews
Correction! Make that TWO links!
I got the same impression, clair voyant. He’s going to do wonders. He’s even beyond a typical Liberal on promises, he’s morphed into the realm of miracles or Oz, maybe a bit of both.
His speech was over the top and only fools would fall for such platitude laced rhetoric. Looks like he really does believe he is the second coming.
If McCain wins by a landslide, Obama supporters will say it was a rigged election because they can’t imagine anyone not supporting Obama. If McCain wins in a squeaker, Obama supporters will say it was a rigged election because they came so close to winning, that the Repubicans panicked and stole the victory from the rightful winner.
Take your pick.
I thought the speech was well delivered. Of course few if any of his airy fairy promises will be delivered. Weaned off Middle Eastern oil in a decade. Yeah, Wright.
I wonder how his brother George liked the speech segment where Big Brother Barry sheds a tear for the hungry even if they are not his relatives.
To Ayers is human to forgive is unlikely.
Octopus Army – ‘liking a candidate’ for the highest political position can’t rest on their personality. And it can’t rest on emotion. People adored Hitler. They’d likely swoon over Brad Pitt. A decision about this high position has to be based on Reason.
That means that you have to move out of the emotional and into analysis. You have to question whether the candidate has proven capacities to deal with economic and political events. Real events not the fictional ones of the future. Obama’s three years don’t provide any proof. In fact, they show the opposite as he’s merely voted with the far left.
You have to analyze the ideological agenda of the candidate within the evidence of his past political activity. He has almost none and his ideological attachments have been to virulent anti-Americanism and anti-white groups.
Again, I’m saying that the Democratic Party has moved out of democracy and into fascism. They are promoting a totally empty candidate whom they can set up as a Symbol of Essentialist Purity. All people want such a utopia; we are always working towards ‘the best’. But reality rejects utopias as fiction and insists that we acknowledge the ‘messiness’ and diversity that is real life.
Now I ask you folks who do you want to see for the next four years on your screens. Politics bedamned give me the lady from Alaska.Thank you Senator McCain.
It’s easy to see why the Democrats have such a pathetic record in presidential elections. Their primary voters invariably fall in love with someone toward the left fringe of the party. The news media is so in the tank for liberals that there is no real vetting of the Democratic candidate until the Republicans start doing it in their commercials leading up to the general election. Witness the dubious parts of John Kerry’s Vietnam story that the MSM had carefully hidden for years. Now, with Obama nominated and most voters unaware of his radical-left history, the Republicans will gleefully fill in the blanks. If the Democrats wanted to actually win an election, all they would have to do is nominate some obscure governor who happens to have a little common sense.
charles Krauthammer of the Washington Post has, in today’s column, against wondered about the emptiness of Obama. He writes:
“Barack Obama is an immensely talented man whose talents have been largely devoted to crafting, and chronicling, his own life. Not things. Not ideas. Not institutions. But himself.
Nothing wrong or even terribly odd about that, except that he is laying claim to the job of crafting the coming history of the United States. A leap of such audacity is odd. The air of unease at the Democratic convention this week was not just a result of the Clinton psychodrama. The deeper anxiety was that the party was nominating a man of many gifts but precious few accomplishments — bearing even fewer witnesses”
And that’s the point. The Democrats have deliberately moved out of the world of reality, which describes the personal work history of the candidate so that you can review his past, debate on it, and decide whether you like what he stands for….
Instead they’ve selected someone with a past only of anti-Americanism and anti-White (The Rev. Wright)..but they’ve readily washed Obama clean of that past. Obama is presented as having No Past. He’s clean.
Instead, he’s a Symbol of the Future. But the future hasn’t happened. So, how do we know that what he symbolizes (in his Words read from speeches written by those BackRoom Boys)..will ever come to pass?
Remember, this man, Obama, has no past. He is personally empty and any past that he does have, has been removed by liposuction by the Democratic Party. Gone are Wright, Ayers, his early Muslim upbringing, his family. Gone are the facts that he’s done nothing in Congress in 3 years. What’s left is whatever you want to visualize for yourself. Fiction not facts.
“Are you really that afraid of him?”
Octopus Army, Not so much afraid of “him”, but I’m really concerned with what he “HOPES” to “CHANGE” America to.
More directly – Yes, I’m afraid of what the world and Canada will look like when a post marxist dead ender, angry black lawyer, who surrounds himself with extremists, that was raised for a significant time in Kenya and Indonesia without a father figure nor his own mother. An Oprah empty, career politician from Harvad Law with zero track record who gets to call the shots for the last nation on earth that openly, unequivocally and proudly supports freedom and liberty for all.
He doesn’t match up well with what I would hope the POTUS should be.
Yep, it concerns me.
Are you cool if McCain wins, or are you afraid of him?
Smart move on McCain’s part if he’s picked a woman for running mate.
The Democrats had their big show of inclusiveness, a black man and a woman running to represent them in the race for the top. Obama the black man won and chose a man as running mate.
Advantage McCain. The American people will choose carefully. The media hype and attempt to raise Obama to Messianic power will soon give rise to sober thought. Obama will not win.
Wow, Ive never seen a bigger pile of Right wing crazies than I have on this blog… Grampy McCain is your man.
So, Barrack Hussein Obama spent the Democratic party nomination campaign beating up on a woman and claiming that she was not qualified to be president; now; this same inexperienced, extremely liberal tax and spend candidate will spend the remainder of this presidential campaign season attempting to batter a second woman, saying she is not qualified to be VP.
Obama who?

Just a quick question…I always hear again and again that Democrats tend to increase spending like crazy on social programs and essential ruin a nations economy. Now, I am a fan of Harper, but, let’s look at the two most recent “liberals” to hold power in the U.S. and Canada:
Jean Chretien: Balanced budget for years (admittedly thanks to Mulroney’s creation of GST) and constant surpluses. Now, obviously he cut the military to the bone, which I was a very poor choice, but he still posted a surplus every year and brought down the debt.
Bill Clinton: Balanced budget for years, and left around $550 billion in surplus after he left office. It was the first time the budget was balanced since 1969.
Then we look at Bush and the massive spending, the increasing debt…? I don’t think debt is inherently a super terrible thing because it ignores what that leader is doing for the economy, i.e. cutting taxes or funding initiatives that need better funding (like the Canadian military or giving technology grants). I’m just pointing out that the Dem’s and liberals in general reputation of throwing money at poor people seems pretty unfounded.
I for one would not watch a nanosecond of this crap … or at least not more than the time it took to change the channel when accidentally hit on…
But I did hear that it “Was like a symphony!”
Leter today there was 10 minutes of news coverage given to twits getting Obama tatoos…..
Ok !
People who get Obama tatoos will probably be masturbating to the video of his speach for 3 months. But will they vote?
BTW ….. it did occur to me that perhaps this is what the legions in attendance may have felt like at the sermon on the mount.
Did anyone else think BO was quite nervous at first and also from time to time obviously feeling under a strain? He was very tight at the end, seemed ready to cry, couldn’t relax and really smile until there was a big crowd around him on stage at the end. I think he knew he couldn’t soar rhetorically because he only has one speech which he had already given over and over in the campaign. How many ways are there to talk about fuzzy, hopeful possibilities and the American dream?
Is this s site for white supremacist? In the event that you do not like Obama it is imporatnt for any obserever to acknowledge that the tactics of both parties are essentially the same, and they make the same promises…reading from a teleprompter is part of the program. As you may have seen McCain stumbling iver his words introducing a woman he does not know. This site is a hoot…I guess ignorance is truly bliss.
