Is there nothing that Obama can’t do?
Obama spokesmen now say everyone knew that President Bush’s troop surge would create more security. This is blatantly false. Obama said in early 2007 that nothing in the surge plan would “make a significant dent in the sectarian violence,” and the new strategy would “not prove to be one that changes the dynamics significantly.” He referred to the surge derisively as “baby-sit(ting) a civil war.”
Now that the civil war has all but ended, he wants to claim retroactive clairvoyance. In a New York Times op-ed laying out his position, Obama credits the heroism of our troops and new tactics with bringing down the violence. Our troops have always been heroic; what made the difference was the surge strategy that Obama lacked the military judgment — or political courage — to support.
Don’t you worry, the media will bury this contradiction so that as few voters as possible ever hear about it.
They will, however, repeat his lies often enough to fool the people into believing them.
And even the late-night comics are refusing to make jokes about the guy.
Now that the civil war has all but ended,
I wish. What the surge has done is create a pause to regroup and do some planning. The main reason things are relatively quiet is that the 3 main players are kept seperated . Now it’s a waiting game to see who gets elected.If Obama gets in the waiting game will continue until he pulls out enough troops. If the Republicans win it , I would expect the lid to blow off within 30 days of the election. They have infinite patience and life is cheap. Time will tell.
Just watched an item on CNN with Obama where he did, in fact, propose withdrawing troops from Iraq and placing them in Afghanistan.
Truly an amazing chamelion.

God help us if this guy Obama wins the election. Guy doesn’t have the first clue about anything foreign policy or military. The last line I heard from him was that on day one he would call the Joint Chiefs into the oval office and give them new orders to end the war. There’s only one problem with that and thats that the Joint Chiefs of Staff have no authority to command any forces, they only to advise the president. I quite honestly wouldn’t expect average folk to know that kind of detail, but if you’re going to run for President, the Commander in Chief maybe you should know how to command. The more Obama opens his mouth, the more likely McCain will win.
Shamrock/ Dave…….My reasoning is this. The insurgents know that they can not go head to head with our troops and when the surge came all they could do is pull back. They are well aware of the political situation at home and are in no rush.They believe that the surge is a temporary measure and that political pressure will eventually force the drawdown of our troops. General Petraeus is right on when he says the surge is working. He would probably be the first to tell you that everything will fall apart if our troops cut strength. Put yourself in the enemies shoes, if Obama wins , the troops will be pulled back. If McCain wins the war gets back up to full steam.It’s worth the wait. Until then you plan and train. I am only giving my opinion. I hope I’m wrong.
The AP (and its member companies) should immediately fire everyone involved with this, develop a program to prevent this snuff “journalism” in the future, and publish an apology.
Somehow I doubt that any of those things will happen. The press is just as sick, twisted, and yellow as it was at the turn of the last century.

Inform your opinion with some facts. The Mahdi army couldn’t hold Basrah from being liberated and pacified by the Iraqi army. And it took less than a month. This was the reality even though the MSM’s headlines proclaimed the operation as a falure from the outset.
