  1. I had to laugh at the “now you have to sell it” statement!
Stephane is the WORST salesman I have ever seen, he DOES NOT convey honesty or sincerity at all, unlike a good Kingsway used car salesman.
If you politicians want to get our attention, instead of tinkering with easily manipulated percentages off our taxes, raise the Personal Deductible to about 15,000 bucks from the current below poverty level of 9600.
Dreamer, or fool, thank God he’s not electable.

  2. The sad truth is that this idiot and his moronic plan is electable – if not this year or next year, then eventually, as the educational system of out country slowly but steadily brainwashes our children into little puppets of Grandmother Socialism.

  3. only an idiot would believe that Dion’s marxist plan to destroy Canada’s economy could somehow improve our weather ….

  4. Dionomics! Investing more in response to a higher taxes!
Reminds me of the unintentionally funniest letter to the editor I’ve ever read (Globe I think) in which the writer argued that a high marginal tax rate was good ‘cos the taxpayer had to work harder to clear the same amount of money and thereby increase productivity. To illustrate this wisdom, take a guy earning $100 a paying 40% tax at the margin. If we doubled his margnal rate to 80%, he’d triple his output (!!!) to $300 so that after paying $240 income tax, he’d clear the same $60.
Never in my wildest imagination could I have imagined a federal political leader arguing such bogus dionomics.

  5. I’m gonna vote for him in the next election.
As they say, sometimes you gotta elect a Carter in order to get a Reagan.
This guy as PM would wake up the vast majority of people that are snoozing through their lives. It’s time for a wake-up call and what better person to do it that Stephane.

  6. I really, really hope that the Green Shift plan also includes a pony for everyone. I didn’t get pony for my birthday and I feel very unhappy – the government should do something about that!!!

  7. CP and NDP pay for their advertising. Why do clowns get free advertising. Is it because they are just so darn funny? Bring in the clowns.

  8. Dion is a simpleton as are most over educated university professors.
So, simply … it’s much easier to raise consumption taxes since it is not a “direct” attack on your paycheck than it is to rake more of your paycheck directly.
Hi income taxes are already impoverishing many hard working Canadians. With Dion’s tax grab, we can now choose our impoverishment every time we go shopping for the new much higher cost of all goods and services.
Remember the tax neutral GST? It’s proved to be the biggest cash cow Canada has ever had. Only when Harper came to power did the rate drop by 2%. Dion would raise it right back up if elected.
Folks, we are begin mugged by our leaders and their sycophants. We must just say no to higher taxes of any kind. We need to cut spending on all the useless social programs that do nothing but discourage some people from getting a job.

  9. So, he’s saying that he will lower taxes for ‘middle and lower income’ Canadians. That’s like apple pie and mother; no-one can disagree. Ah, but the devil is in the details.
Middle and lower income Canadians for Dion is not the normal definition of those terms. His policy gives the highest benefits to those who, are..now get this: a two income family with two children (that’s both parents working) with a before tax combined income of $20,000.
Heh- that’s his definition of ‘low income’. That’s my definition of No Income. At that rate – this family won’t be paying any taxes anyway – so, what’s with the tax benefits, DION? But Dion’s low middle class are all in the 20-40 thousand; that’s who he’s after. The rest of us don’t get a thing back from his plan. We get higher costs.
Oh – he offers Northerners help with higher costs? Do you know how much? Heh. $150 a year. Heh. He obviously doesn’t give a damn about their vote.
And he doesn’t tell his eager listeners that his tax on industries will INCREASE the cost of everything from heat, to hydro, to food, clothing, transportation, construction..everything. He doesn’t tell us that.
Instead, he has informed us that we Canadians shouldn’t be upset about taxing those industries. After all, he said, most of our industries are owned by OTHERS. By multinational companies. And they are, well, they aren’t Canadian. So, he said, this won’t harm Canada.
How dumb can he be? We live in a global world; what goes on in one economic area affects others. And those shareholders won’t simply invest more money into those factories..as Dion insists they will. He tells us they’ll install the ‘new technologies’ to prevent those high taxes. No they won’t. These new technologies aren’t all developed; and, they cost a lot.
Does Dion’s Green Shaft plan invest any money in research and devt of new technologies? Nope.
Does it provide low cost loans to factories to install the technology? Nope.
And, as has been pointed out by Steve Janke, Dion’s bribe-a-vote plan requires that there be no reduction of emissions. Ever. He needs that money, even in the 4th year of his plan, to bribe Canadians.
By the way, this attitude of indifference to Others is very typical of Quebec, where the non-francophone world is Other and is ignored or rejected. Dion is very typical in this indifference to the non-francophone world (which also includes most of Canada).
And how will reducing emissions deal with smog, Mr. Dion? Smog isn’t caused by CO2 emissions but by pollution, which is particulates mixed with carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide. Your plan doesn’t address pollution, even though you deliberately merge the two terms.
So, tell us, Mr. Dion, do you have any idea, either economically or scientifically, what you are talking about?

  10. In a recent interview Dion’s logic seemed to be that by raising taxes on “dirty Alberta oil” we would demonstrate to the US that we’re serious about cutting carbon emissions. We could then argue to president Obama and his colleagues that our oil may be dirty, but the higher taxes were being used to find solutions to the problem.
This logic is flawed. It makes some very big assumptions that anyone with a lick of common sense can see through. Let’s say a bully is threatening to hit me in the face. My reaction is to quickly slam my hand in the door to prove to him I’m already suffering and deserve mercy. Only an intellectual like Dion could ever believe this would work.

  11. Me No Dhimmi @ 3.35, Dionomics: good phrase, but needs a little improvement: Dionetics
(For those who don’t know “dienetics” is the philosophy of the scientologists).

  12. Watching his supporters on TV trying to sell his Green Plan is hilarious, they earnestly state it’s to complicated to discuss but it’s really really good for Canada. Talk about condescending and arragant, we the little people couldn’t possibly understand the “Plan” cause it’s really really complicated. Bite me Dion.
On a side note if oil continues to rise, home heating fuel with double. Last winter it cost $850 to fill the tank, how in the name of God are the working poor going to afford to heat their homes if it reaches $1700? The elderly and working poor will be forced to live in one room, and will they be able to afford food.

  13. An animated manikin with about as much neural activity. To put it bluntly. The Green Stiff plan is basically forcing oil companies in every Province is to bend them over while they rape them.
Than pay them a pittance & call it love. This goes for every Canadian as well except of course “those who may not be named” who while in office pay hardly any taxes. Who will have revenue to spend at stores? This is part & parcel of there onslaught to decimate the middle class financially into penury.
This will never happen, or the only real Canada left with be 2 Provinces. The last probably not long. If you Feast on all your meat, than eat all your stores . What happens. Yup, starvation. This is what this neutered doll proposes for our economy. Make no mistake. As for tax cuts we should have had them long ago. Its that that defeats production & enterprise, not co2. Lastly stealing billions to transfer more wealth into useless programs that only fill bureaucrats coffers at our expense of course. I would hardly call this a tax break. More like 3 card Monty.

  14. Did you notice that CTV’s Craig Oliver is in the video? He shows up at the 47 second mark.
Dion also says that the Green $hift will decrease smog in Toronto. I thought the $hift didn’t apply to gasoline.

  15. Liberal schemes have a history:
“federal apparatus hellbent on shovelling your money out the door with minimal regard for the stated goal of the enterprise”
“Most of the public attention Renaud drew last week focused on his claim, denied by Paul Martin, that he once saw Martin having lunch with Claude Boulay, whose firm received big sponsorship contracts, at a Liberal convention. Martin associates pop up elsewhere in Renaud’s testimony, especially Lucie Castelli, Martin’s riding assistant. But perhaps most intriguingly, Roy questioned Renaud, without getting very far, about an entry in Brault’s agenda mentioning a 1994 meeting with Pietro Perrino, one of the Quebec Liberal party’s most important organizers. Several years later, Perrino would become the most important Quebec organizer for Martin’s leadership campaign.
Renaud also asserted that several meetings which had, in Brault’s account, been set up to organize covert financing for the federal Liberal party were, in fact, organizing meetings for Brian Tobin’s abortive leadership run. Benoît Corbeil and Joe Morselli, both senior Quebec Liberals, did wind up on Tobin’s campaign. What this has to do with anything will have to await testimony from Corbeil and Morselli.
For now, what Gomery heard last week paints a picture of a federal apparatus hellbent on shovelling your money out the door with minimal regard for the stated goal of the enterprise. Finding, in detail, where the money landed is Gomery’s last big task.”
    An expensive one:
“But the idea that Adscam was the work of a few isolated rogues is also hard to sustain. When Béliveau leaves the party executive and his successor knows precisely whom to tap for envelopes of cash, it suggests a shared culture. When a bunch of fake volunteers settle in at Liberal headquarters after billing a company they don’t know for work they aren’t doing, it is hard to remain naive about how they all just happened to know the script. The nasty business Gomery is investigating cannot be confined to a single election or a single clique. It was closer to a way of life.”
    Do leopards change their spots?

  16. Iggy Puffin poo and exdipper Bob Rae have grown strangely silent . apparently they have decided that Borat Dion has picked his mountain to die on and have cut the ropes.

  17. Bagman
Dion’s a true Liberal Bagman, moving money around for the Libs and uncle Mo.
    Montreal Exchange
“The Montreal bourse, which runs Canada’s market for interest rate, index and equity derivatives, plans to run the Montreal Climate Exchange as a joint venture with the Chicago Climate Exchange.
( all hail Obama and Gore! )

“An intensity-based system in Canada, apart from being potentially incompatible with other, larger and more liquid markets, could be smaller and less efficient for intensity-based trading than for a system based on trading under a strict cap,” Mr. Parkhill said.
Dion’s nothing but a salesman for this scam. He wants his commision, not his election.
“green” in this case means money It was never EVER about the planet
“shift” in this case means transfer (transfering money out of Canada, not just Sask and Alta)
    (harry form a previose thread)
    “follow the money”

  18. the Montreal Climate Exchange
    A snakepit selling snake-oil.
Here’s Dion dressed up for the summer,
A carney huckster selling snake oil.
some great “academic” we have here.

  19. Dion is right about one thing. The Green Shift tax WILL be a benefit to the West in about ten years…
Because as soon as it is introduced, 3 or 4 western provinces will declare independence from Quebe-tario…and then we will all be rich.
Actually, anyone who does any kind of exports from the west to central Canada now should add a few lines to every invoice they send to Quebe-tario companies. After showing the GST and the total, add a line called GSOF* ( for “Green Shift Offset Fee”), with about a 15% charge, and a new total. At the * on the bottom of the invoice state “This will be the price you will pay if the ‘Green Shift’ is introduced.

  20. Tax cuts to those who don’t pay much in taxes in the first place. Like I’m going to eat that right up.
reminds me of when Dave Taylor (former moonbat talk show host on CHQR now to be Alberta Lieberal leader) complained about how Ralph Klien used MY money to buy MY vote. Hey, it was better than Crotch Cricket (Cretien) at the same time using MY money to buy some parasite’s vote with me just ending up getting shafted. Just like Dion’s Green Shaft plan.
I also noticed that City TV was fawning all over Dion and had to leave before I lost my supper.

  21. this is totally off topic, but I have met Richard Madan the reporter and he is the biggest douchebag I’ve met since the time I shook hands with Ward Churchill. Just saying.

  22. “Because as soon as it is introduced, 3 or 4 western provinces will declare independence”
I wish it were so, but I’m less than convinced about B.C.
Gordon Campbell not only drank the climate change kool-aid, he’s mixing up more of it…. a continued moratorium on off-shore drilling, a moratorium on uranium exploration, a carbon tax on ALL petroleum resources including gasoline, heating oil and even propane and no plans or support for even private ‘run of river’ electrical projects.
I’ve always been a strong B.C. Liberal supporter, but I’m done. My vote is looking for a new home.

  23. The green Shift is just that, a shift of greenbacks to the poor east again because Buzz is losing members. I understand there are 10,000 more auto industry jobs in the east than there were ten years ago {They make alot of rice burners there} but they are NON UNION and don’t contribute to Buzz Darkyears count or pension.
I am sure McGint will give GM more money to transfer to Buzz if Dion can ever suck it out of the West.
The green shift and Kyoto are both socialist plans to shift greenbacks to the less fortunate.
Dion should be careful because the last time a PM strangled the Goose thatwas laying golden eggs he put the whole country into a reslowdown
I would like to see the oil and gas cut off at Thunder Bay and let you eastern green whiners walk the 401 to work.

  24. For the record: Harper reduced the GST by 29% (2/7). I wish I knew why the Conservatives don’t use that number – it’s much more impressive than 2%, and more accurate, to boot.

  25. Dion is often criticized for his language not being understood. My problem is that I clearly understand every single word he utters and then burst out laughing.
Environmental elitists like him, Al Gore, David Suzuki, et al have been given a free ride for a few years now. But when push comes to shove, I don’t think Joe Sixpack really believes any of the Global Catastrophy Scare Tactics.
Canadians may have been more open to pollsters when things were very theoretical but now that an actual proposal is put forth, and one (or should we say two if we include the NDP’s) that includes dramatic tax increases and government involvement, people’s priorities quickly sharpen!

  26. I have a small problem with how this is turning out. I see Dion as a bit of a fool, but not that much of one. I think he’s trying to fox us all. The over-riding response to his less than inspiring western speaking tour is “how fast can we separate?”. If this continues who do you think is going to lose the most come next election? Every vote for a western separatist party is a vote lost to the Conservatives. Let’s be real, if that happens it won’t be the separatist party winning the election, it will be Mr. Dion, smelling like a rose after successfully dividing the country, as Liberal leaders have been doing forever. Ask yourself if you’d like to see that moron in the big chair, and please don’t support anyone else but the one person who can stop that from happenning – Harper. Thinking anything else is a dream. Even if all the stars come together, the west won’t separate until after a few more terms of Liberal govt, a reality I would gladly miss out on, thank yew verra much! Remember, the more grease under a western separatist movement the more Dion wins!

  27. Token small town conservative,While I agree with your take on vote splitting East v West I do wish Westerners would stop painting all Easterners as lieberal idiots.Iam a retired trucker who routinely worked 100 hr weeks paying a far bigger share of taxes than the 9-5 crowd and have Never looked to anyone for a handout. There are far too many union workers?in San Francisco N (better known as torona)who can’t see buzzy for what he is a blood sucking cockroach. If some of these rose colored glasses class started using the brain God gave them socialism would be gone the way of the dodo bird in very short order.

  29. Reporter: Do you know who this man is?
Moronic metrosexuals: No!? (apprehension, like should I know?)
Dijon: Ah ham the lee-dur hav da Lib-her-al par-tay
    Moronic metrosexuals: Ohhhhhh!! (delight)
Is this what passes for an informed public in GTA?
    Nuke the place.

  30. Ah Token,
Would’nt the Separatist party you are talking about be at the Provincial level? How could that hurt Harper’s Conservatives?
At least would’nt you want to know the outcome of a Federal election BEFORE deciding to form a Separatist party?
THEN I guess a Federal level Separatist party (For that Province’s voters only) could be formed but a Provincial level one still makes more sense to me.
And Dion is an imbecile who will not win the next election and will shrink the size of the Liberal to 60 seats max.
Unless a severe mother nature hit occurs (Which would be spin as being because of Climate change by the MSM and Dion/Suzuki).

  31. I’ve always been a strong B.C. Liberal supporter, but I’m done. My vote is looking for a new home.
Your vote is a street urchin.

  32. Dion is going down HARD!
I hope he doesn*t become a client of AA.
Joe Clark seems to have survived fairly well but Ivory Tower ex-professors tend to fall apart facing REAL world conditions. = TG
