No surprise here. When people put up bigger bounty’s for lost or abused animals. Children really have no defense in Canada. Its why an Andrea Dorken can call for Mothers to kill their children up to 5 years old, & no one say’s a thing.
I am sure that’s not a hate crime to suggest murdering 5 year olds. Its only kids after all. The HRC’s have bigger game. Pre crimes & Hate crime bystanders. After all we are all guilty since we could all in the future be offensive.
Any way this is another story in our ongoing decent into barbarism. First ignore, than drug the old into senility. Do the same with children in schools. In other words harm the most vulnerable, those that can’t vote.
Forced adoption by “race” for kids. Many just kill themselves at the State care level. After 20 homes with different levels of care if not sexual or other abuse, its hard to cope.
Now kids because of parental fears can’t even have monkey bars anymore, nor tether ball, merry go rounds. All deemed not safe & sanitized least any should sue or have fun. This Country has killed childhood. At 11 I could go to into the bush to have a picnic with buddies. Kids today out of fear of the cons walking the streets can’t even be out side without a parent patrol.
Its a sad age.
I posted about his sister having this point of view. It is very sad that even the mother of these children can say this. These 2 babies were murdered, just as if their father had shot them. Shooting them would have been more merciful. He got drunk and allowed them to freeze to death. I hope the children’s aid society is watching all the children in this family.
My question is, has he suffered enough to make him quit drinking? Why do I doubt it?
And to think there is now another baby born to these freaks.
I suspect if the man has a conscience, he probably has (or will have by the end of his life) suffered enough, but the law demands not suffering, but justice. This demand must be made on everyone equally, otherwise only the remorseless would be subject to criminal sanction. Arguably, it’s those capable of remorse who are the guiltier, as they should have known better.
Who can adequately define “suffered enough” for such a horrible act? The mother? The grandmother? Aren’t they really only talking about themselves?
The two dead girls don’t get a say on if their dad suffered enough. The voices and cries of those defenseless kids were forever silenced by someone they should have been able to trust to protect their lives no matter what the personal cost. That’s what parents are supposed to do. I can’t imagine the terror those girls felt as they were dragged through the suffocating burning cold to their doom by a person entrusted with ultimate authority over their well being! That heartless and worse, deliberate act of treachery deserves a far harsher penalty than our culturally over-sensitive and politically correct legal system system is capable of carrying out.
Unfortunately the Canadian justice system is the only “voice” of authority that will act behalf of those girls. I have little faith that Canada’s voice of justice will do little more than agree with the mother’s lament and the father-murderer will walk after servicing a short perfunctory sentence.
If there is no reasonable punishment the stage will be set for the crime to repeat itself. A further sick irony is that this man may very well be within arms reach of another child of his next winter.
Why has the Mother NOT been charged! They both lived in a life style of Neglect. She left the children in the care of a Known drunk…

But it is not only about him and his suffering. There are more elements in punishment than the perpetrators suffering. There is the deterent effect (others watching may be more likely to do the right thing if they know that they’ll be locked up without access to fun), the societal need for retribution for a wrong against society (which is what crimes are), the curative effect (which is what being locked up for a long time is supposed to do). Putting him away for a long time is not about him. It is about the rest of our community.

So if I kill one or two of them through gross neglect or just plain ignorance BUT show the deepest remorse, will they avow to support my absolution from being held criminally responsible for their loss?

Chronic unemployment is often brought up as a cause of all the ills. Guess what, I grew up in Rural Sask. There were no jobs so I moved to where they were. I didn’g wait for a cheque to show up so I could stay home.
Unfortunately after 100 years of reserve life the resulting residents have no ability or concept of how to live. They have become a lower life form than a domesticated animal.
I say we feed the dad slowly through a wood chipper, feet first. By the time he’s up to his neck in the thing I may feel that he’s suffered enough. Then again, I may not.

To bad we don’t have equal justice in this Nation. Some are more equal than others. Allow Natives to own land off reservations. I would like to see an end to these social ghetto’s as well.

I believe one main reform that would help bring pride and accountability to Natives would be private ownership of their houses and land. Yeah ,yeah, I know private ownership was not a concept they had 100+ years ago, not part of their culture but it’s time to change. Over the years, enough money has been poured into the reserves that each family could have been given a well contructed house and a back up infrastructure(you know, like clean water, good roads) and say to them, it’s your house, look after it. Here is the deed. Sell it if you wish but don’t come looking for housing handouts anymore. Having the band council lend out houses does not foster pride of ownership.

As for the particulat topic of this thread, the father certainly should be brought to trial like a white man. Just make sure the judge is not like that wingnut in Montreal who made allowances for an Indian vandal because he was of a disadvantaged race.
I am totally sick of the whining and special treatment Natives feel they are entitled to. This father should go to jail for at least 10 years and the Mother for 5 years for negligence. Both are drunks and living off welfare and family allowance!
I suggest we stop all aid to Natives and let them sink or swim on their own. They want self-government, let them have it, but without Federal or Provincial money.
