Obama As Churchill

we shall surrender on the seas and oceans,
we shall surrender with growing confidence and growing weakness in the air, we shall
surrender our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall surrender on the beaches,
we shall surrender on the landing grounds,
we shall surrender in the fields and in the streets,
we shall surrender in the hills;
we shall always surrender,

  1. Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar! If that stirring speech doesn’t make you want to behead a Jewish WSJ journalist based in Mumbai, you’re probably a decent person — too decent to support “Osama” Obama.

  2. Is there a mass suicide pact happening in the U.S. that vaoters would even consider Mr. B. Hussein “Bamboozle” for President?

  3. Hey, how come nobody ever told me about the “hidden clause” of Churchill’s speech, which directly follows the more famous quote?
“, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.”
Might white of Winston to volunteer the young men of ostensibly free states – he’s not talking about Bothupswana here – such as Canada and Australia to fight England’s wars. The majority of Canadians back then weren’t even of Anglo Saxon stock.

  4. Wow…. The great leaders of days gone by are truly rolling in their graves! The enemies of freedom are belly laughing themselves sick.
Hey Obomba – why not start with cutting some of the useless government sponsored programs dealing with affirmative action costs? It embarrasses you and your country, but I suppose in the greater scheme of things you are doing exactly what you were bred to do
“Tear down this country Mr. Obomachieve”!

  5. fsf – it wasn’t ‘England’s war’. It was a world war. Kindly get your facts and ethical values straight.

  6. My friends, Americans vote for the most charismatic person not the best qualified person with a proven track record. My friends, Americans want change. My friends, if Obama makes it to the White House they will get change. My friends, America will resemble an African nation. My friends, America will take on the characteristics of Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Angola and the Sudan.
My friends, black Americans have come a long way but they still have a long way to go!

  7. One of the more humourous comments on the link referenced by Kate was:
I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

  8. Obama as Churchill NOT.
Obama is a flash in the pan. The American people will soon wake up to that fact. His empty, vacuous rhetoric is catching up with him.
It’s just not conceivable the American voters would want a possible President Barak Hussein Obama at this time. Will not happen.
In spite of the usual Lefty Media hype , all Obama/Clinton all the time, it’ll be another Republican in the White House.

Naff off, you slimy goatf’er! My full-blooded Scottish father spent 6 years in the army during WWII, including experiences on D-Day that you can’t even imagine. FYI, the German shore batteries survived the naval bombardment and shelled his regiment (Royal Winnipeg Rifles) in their landing craft.
That goes ditto for my full-blooded Ukrainian uncles from northern Saskatchewan, every one of whom who was of age served for an English king.

  10. fsfsafaf:
    Get your history straight.
Canada and Australia were at war with Germany at the time of this speech. So….
“…until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.”
Churchill meant, “we can hang on until the Yanks are in.”

  11. I noticed he seems to feel Russia is a threat. No mention of China and its weapons. Disarm with a bilateral treaty with Russia and leave China out of the deal. Great. Just great. Where do I sign?

  12. Somewhere….someone with bad intentions is rubbing their hands with glee……much like the capitulating leftwingnutsbars.
Cut the ability to defend the nation….but keep all the programs that are the saboteurs of self-reliance and personal responsibility. Is it any wonder that we are breeding a generation of pantywaists when the “government” is more interested in you suckling the teat instead of securing their country…their society..their culture.

  13. This speech looks like it fell out of a time warp. When Britain, France and the US refused to believe the facts that Germany was re-arming in the Thirties it led to the Second World War. For those who will not learn from history and are doomed to repeat it, we need to learn that Obama’s Utopia of a non-nuclear world is a thing of the past, pre-1930’s. You cannot put the “GENIE” back in the bottle, to even consider this shows a complete lack of education and understanding of the human animal and when all is said and done that is all we are, a human (humane) animal. To ensure peace prepare for war and in that preparation make sure your enemies know full well that in the future there will be no negotiation, no Marshall Plan, no Democratic renewal, it will only be absolute destruction of the enemy. The sleeping tiger that was awakened in 1941 has been cat-napping of late, if it sleeps through this next election Western Society will pay the price, either total annihilation of all we have, or a world that we will not wish to inherit.

Hey idiot, Canada and Australia (as well as other “Empire” states not of Anglo-Saxon stock – like INDIA) were already in the f’ing war you half-wit!
And the new world he was referring to was the US.
And (like I need to mention the obvious,) the Anglo-Saxons were not the only group of people on the planet who wanted Hitler defeated – sorry you feel differently.

  15. Further to my earlier comments, George V and George VI (God bless them!) are (along with Victoria R. and Margaret Thatcher) the most under-estimated individuals in human history.

  16. Whichever of the candidates manages to get elected, it will be a very close election. So -just for a moment, let’s assume that Barack or Hillary get the nod. Now, zoom forward to 2012, by which time the wheels will have fallen off and in order to get re-elected they need a bunch of fresh votes. Where is there a good pool of leftist votes relatively unsullied by nasty Republican sentiment? (Hint – if you’re Canadian, look at what you’re standing on)
They’re both already on record as wanting to re-negotiate NAFTA. Why not renegotiate it so that there are a few new stars on the flag?
If they do it early enough, Canadians, forgiving folk that they are, will have forgotten what happened and will vote for Democrats en masse in 2012, cementing the Dem’s power base for years and years to come.
Jack Layton could be Washington’s ambassador to Iraq.

  17. I certainly don’t think Barack is cut of the same cloth as Churchill (whom the British people seem to be forgetting), but it’s not because his middle name is Husseind.
As for the Cadman story, who is feeding Dion these poison pills. He looks absolutely desperate and ridiculous. Plus Cadman was obviously trying to protect his family by not helping to bring down the government – he might not have been covered by insurance if he died during the campaign and was not an M.P. I think it is disgusting to bring this story up.

  18. Nicola Timmerman at February 28, 2008 4:31 PM –
“I think it is disgusting to bring this story up.”
You should be disgusted that the cons tried to bribe a dying man for their own political gain.

  19. There is no way this man is going to be president, I’ll take bets on it. He’ll be assasinated ,most likely by the Clintons. The left will have a martyr to rally around for the next 50 years and everything will be Jim-Dandy.

  20. I think it is terrible to mock Mr. Obama like that. After all he promises Hope and Change.
/Translation: He hopes you will elect him so he can take all your dollars and give you back change.

  21. Hope & Change! Sounds like a hippy sit-in on a campus lawn doesn’t it? Wonder about Obamas admitted substance abuse in his youth and you don’t need to understand any further his empty slogans of communist ideals.
Ideas are good also – too bad the world is full of idealists who like to bring their delusional philosophies to bear on the lives of real people. My dream would be instead, that concrete thinkers bring concrete realities and governance to an open and free society of rational people. I didn’t even need to smoke pot to have that idea nor the peer pressure of dreamy hippies to convince me. But that of course wouldn’t wash in a socialist controlled lefty environment and becomes another idea left to the wayside……….yawn.

  22. “black Americans … a long way to go!”
” Don’t worry cons, the black won’t rub off ”
It looks like there’s some spring seeding in the comments. Why should Lucy be the only one to dine at the HRC shakedown trough?

  23. My paternal ancestry is German, but my father and grandfather fought for the country that was called home for over 100 years in 1939.
My maternal grandmother lost a brother due to Churchill’s folly.
The lessons learned by Churchill along the way to 1939 were not easy. But he was intelligent, articulate and he knew his enemies. And he WON.
This socialist fop couldn’t stand in the same room without feeling small.
Knowledge is power – and the new medium for the dissemination of ALL types of knowledge – is a short term defence against the fascists that would have us all living in Orwell’s dream worlds.
I don’t know if McCain, et al, have the answers but the spoon fed socialists not only tax your wallets and your patience, but they will take your real freedom in doing so.
    MIKE

  24. I’d suggest that it’s entirely possible that Obama is a sort of Trojan Horse for those (mainly the international socialists, or simply, the Left, plus Islamic Kalifascists and the likes of Putin’s Russia and Red China) who would surrender America to her enemies.
Taking away the Free World’s ability to defend herself is actually what our enemies want and have been trying to make happen by cultivating the mass psychosis we see in the Left, as exemplified quite well by the likes of Cindy Sheehan and now Barack Obama.
Further, surely y’all are aware of Obama’s ties to radical Islamists? Of the seemingly racist nature of the “church” to which he belongs, of his pastor’s praise for Farrakhan, of the fact that Obama has worked, helping with fundraising, with a known terrorist… Well, I’ve blogged about it all as I found it. Am I the only one who can see that there’s more to the self-aggrandized Change Agent You Can Trust than meets the eye? Is everyone mesmerized? Oh, of course, many folks are unaware of HIllary’s current felony court case and the fact that she’s a communist ideologue, so no surprise that many may not see Obama’s possible hidden agenda.

  25. I did not read all of the posts here but did take the time to listen to th YouTube of Obama. All I can say is Holy crap is he for real? Surely American voters will have more sense than to support this dreamer.

  26. When was the last time an atomic weapon was used?
    Dream on, masters of war.
Reducing ICBM stockpiles with Russia seems like a damn good idea, and sometimes it’s hard to believe that Islamic terror with all their resources HASN’T acquired the bomb yet, and despite the CIA’s warning, Al-Qaeda murdered thousands on national TV using boxcutters and incomplete flight training. I hope at least Obama will read the damn NSA reports.
And thank God for Churchill – his words went a long way.

  27. Mike >
Agreed – Obama wouldn’t have the credibility to light Churchill’s cigar if he were alive today. How it could even be suggested that a comparison of the two be made, is really beyond comprehension. About as far flung as comparing Winston Churchill addressing the nation to Peewee Herman taking a bathroom break. Pleeeeese………

  28. I find it difficult to post about Obama, simply because of the sheer absurdity of acting like I take him seriously.
However, something he said interests me.
A lot of liberals very much wish to downsize America’s military machine. (Probably many harken back to Eisenhower’s statement, “Beware of the military/industrial complex.”)
Now on the one hand there is some truth to this. Doubtlessly some military appropriations are unncessary and create a burden on the taxpayer.
(When I was in the military, one saying was, “Remember, your weapons were produced by the lowest bidder.”)
But the truth is that America simply cannot allow its major military producers to shrink in size and degrade its capacity for producing various weapons systems, no matter the expense.
Although tremendous and egregious prices are charged, that should definitely be in the red ink column. The world does not permit us to lay off large numbers of skilled weapons producers.
Our industrial base for weapons production always has to be in top form and ready to come up with whatever is required to keep us and our allies as safe as possible.
This often means that American taxpayers are having to fund a balloon simply in order to keep it in the air, but there is no other way to assure ourselves of military superiority when it comes to a security umbrella for us and all of our friends.
It is an unrewarded burden that Americans must pay because of our role as super power. We didn’t choose it. And frankly, we wish that some other democratic nation had to shoulder that burden.
But it is ours to bear, and we bear it willingly.
    kakola,
just for the heck of it I will say, after many years of exchanging posts with so many friends up here, I would be happy for North America to become one country if only it were possible to get a better balance of conservatives in Canada.
I realize that many Canadians do not want this and would never want it, and I can fully appreciate those feelings.
But I have come to feel sort of like Kate when she says about Canada, “We are more like americans than we are like ourselves.”
I would say, “We are all more like North Americans than we are like ourselves.”

  29. Obama promises “Hope and Change”
    Gore promises “Climate Change”
    Smitherman promises “Diaper Change”
The common thread among these liberal minded morons is it all revolves around crap.
That’s the problem being a “liberal for life” . . . a head full of feces clouds the judgment, stinks up the room and prevents fresh ideas from taking hold due to the severity of the self-inflicted cerebral constipation.

  30. It’s quite impossible to turn on the television, run through the channels and avoid Barack Hussen Obama. (I can’t believe I just typed those three names) It’s dreadful. Just this morning, before I could hit ‘channel up’ my ears were forced to hear once again that tired, worn out, beaten to death phrase “misconceived war”. It’s an opinion that stuck, and stuck absolutely, and it doesn’t matter what the facts are on the ground. The Left is utterly impervious. Come to think of it, so am I.

  31. Knight99:
“too bad the world is full of idealists who want to bring their delusional philosophies to bear onthe lives of real people”
Ya mean like the People for the New American Century group who advocated the invasion of Iraq to secure American hegemony and to spread democracy/privatize Iraq’s oil while letting Bin Laden (relative of Bush’s business buddies) go free after commiting the worst terrorist attack in US history (which the People for the New American Century group said they’d need in order to scare Americans into invading Iraq)?
Ya mean *those* idealists whose delusional philosophies are brought to bear on real people’s lives?
