we shall surrender on the seas and oceans,
we shall surrender with growing confidence and growing weakness in the air, we shall
surrender our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall surrender on the beaches,
we shall surrender on the landing grounds,
we shall surrender in the fields and in the streets,
we shall surrender in the hills;
we shall always surrender,

Wow, you’re all really getting whipped up into a frothy frenzy of stupid. There’s nothing there Eisenhower wouldn’t have said himself. Most people are smart to enough to figure that out.

No, that’s not who I meant!
Anyway, while you’re all ranting over Obama’s statement, the Catholic League in the US is just a little pissed at McCain:

I was concerned about mccain running against obama and his cult, but the more i see of him, the less i worry. Americans won’t vote for somebody who wants to disarm and hope for the best.
He isn’t about hope,he’s more about wishing and that isn’t a basis for foreign policy.
The United States and Britain freed people from slavery, established institutions that respect the rights of individuals, gave a voice to the masses. It is extremely sad that there are so many people like Tony Blair, Obama, the Archbishop of Canterbury etc. who have absolutely no respect for that history – and would allow people who respect only brute force to rule instead.
His hippy advisors are still living in the ’60s.
“I will negotiate with Russia to take our nuclear weapons off hair-trigger alert”.
This was done decade s ago. Russia isn’t the enemy. The islamo-fascists are. Is he the Manchurian Meccan Candidate?

Thanks for clarifying.
I thought you were speaking of the deluded idealists who used 9/11 to lie the US into a war which had nothing to do with 9/11, in which almost 4000 soldiers have been killed, while the perpetrators of 9/11 run free while all resources are sunk into an unrelated war that some nitwits still conflate with 9/11, saying that to end the occupation of Iraq would somehow be a ‘surrender’ to the perpetrators of 9/11.
Ya know, *those* deluded ‘idealists’!
Got a link for that, volik?
volik >
And again, you would be wrong.
Yeah, Kate. I’ve got a link to reality.
And that’s something that any numskull who proposes that a withdrawal from Iraq is a surrender to the perpetrators of 9/11 most emphatically does *not* have.
Thanks, Knight99
I just wanted to clarify that you weren’t speaking of the deluded idealists who terrified the US with unfounded visions of mushroom clouds to go in and sink 4000 casualties and billions of dollars into a quagmire that’s lasted longer than it took the US to defeat Hitler.
All because they wanted to disarm Saddam/change the regime/promote democracy/build a roadmap to peace/privatize Iraq’s oil.
Thanks for clarifying. Cheers.
I thought it was because of weapons of mass destruction that Iraq was invaded, thanks to the all seeing and knowing volik I now am informed.Oh,and living in caves and running from drones and air strikes is considered running free in volik’s little world.
It’s just not conceivable the American voters would want a possible President Barak Hussein Obama at this time. Will not happen.
Liz J.
Yeah, that’s my feeling too. EXCEPT I have another feeling which is that perhaps Americans might be wanting another “Holiday from History”. Let’s face it, it’s been pretty rough going for nearly 6 1/2 years (longer than WW2) without much to show for the blood and treasure. And Bush and Co have now joined with the terrorists: arming Fatah, restraining Israel from nailing Hamas, asking Israel to make concessions with zero reciprocation, Kosovo, arms sales to Saudi Arabia, not facing up to Iran, attempting a legacy-saving exit, et al.
And oh yeah, Condi thinks Abbas is Martin Luther King.
Imagine a chance meeting of Winston and Obama
Obama: “Sir you are drunk”!
Winston: “And you sir are a fool but in the morning I will be sober”
volik>
No problem. As always you already have your answers.
all sizzle
no steak…………
nothing to see here folks’ move’lng
Some posters on this thread have returned to the old ‘weapons of mass destruction’ saw.
Just so that history is not completely revised, that sentiment resonates with a significant portion of Americans.
However, a minimum of half of us never really cared a heck of a lot about the WMD. Sure, it was a consideration.
But if truth be told, at least half of us enjoy taking down sadistic dictators. We enjoy crushing their militaries. we enjoy draggin them to exectution. And we enjoy trying to assist in trying to put the country back together again with a sensibility that is more compatible with the Western world.
At least half of us still feel pretty good about our presence in Iraq and still have hopes for the future. You have to remember that we get regular reports from family and friends in the various fields of operation. So we don’t have to wait for the MSM and their spin to know whether things are going ok.
Churchill (the greatest man of the 20th century) might say of B.O.(the most vacuous man of the 21st century).
Never have so many expressed so much enthusiasm for so little.
Winston Churchill quotes updated.
Barrack Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Senator, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”
Hillary Clinton: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”
Greg
Hey, I believe you if you say you and your pals enjoy dragging dictators to their executions (even of your main enjoyment of the activity comes from watching it take place on TV)…
However, I think your assertion that half (or more) of your countrymen share the same sentiment, and that the same amount “feel good” about Iraq is undercut by the fact that, rather, 65% of Americans disapprove of the Iraq war.
Remember, Greg: you’re entitled to your own opinion.
But not your own facts!
I like the image of taking nukes off hair-trigger alert. Is he going to issue Perry Como sweaters as the new missile-silo-crew garb? Maybe let the guys go out and help the farmers in the surrounding fields? Issue leather-covered hassocks upon which slipper-clad feed are to be perched? Jumble the trigger keys so that no single silo or sub has the right two matching keys?
Meanwhile, see what even the leftward leaning old punk musician Bob Geldof has to say about the reality of G.W. Bush. when he’s actually had a chance to experience the man.
Barak Obama: empty suit, empty rhetoric
George Bush: full of compassion, understanding and action.

The odd time when I check what Volik and his fellow travellers write they reaffirm that leftists are only driven by senseless emotion never facts or reason. They flush whatever is in that toilet bowl they call a brain then wait until one of their comrades takes a dump and fills it up again. It is to laugh.
Remember we lived through Jimmah Carter, Clinton, Blair, Chretien and Trudeau and seen the damage these people can do.
Here’s a bit of what obama HUSSEIN barack believes.
Nicholas Kristof at the New York Times:
Mr. Obama would bring to the White House an important experience that most other candidates lack: he has actually lived abroad. He spent four years as a child in Indonesia and attended schools in the Indonesian language, which he still speaks.
“I was a little Jakarta street kid,” he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office (excerpts are on my blog, http://www.nytimes.com/ontheground). He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them.
Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”
Moreover, Mr. Obama’s own grandfather in Kenya was a Muslim. Mr. Obama never met his grandfather and says he isn’t sure if his grandfather’s two wives were simultaneous or consecutive, or even if he was Sunni or Shiite.
———————
Well, the leftist moonbat writer has at least one important insight:
“It’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks”
And there folks is where the forehead hits the prayer mat.
The more I see of Obama the more I like Nader.
In a 51-49 country, it’s nice of Nader hoover off 3% of Obama’s…
Keeping in mind that if it wasn’t for Perot and Forbes, Billy Clinton wouldn’t have won either election.
Kristof is a “leftist moonbat”? Let’s unpack that statement, shall we?
A simple Wikipedia search reveals:
“In 1990, Kristof and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn, earned a Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for their reporting on the pro-democracy student movement and the related Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.”
What? A lefty moonbat writing critically about the Communist crackdown on democracy? What gives? He must have been high.
But wait…how to explain this little gem:
“Kristof is critical of the West’s anti-sweatshop movement, claiming that the sweatshop model is primary reason why “Taiwan and South Korea [which accepted sweatshops as the price of development] are modern countries with low rates of infant mortality and high levels of education; in contrast, every year 3.1 million Indian children die before the age of 5, mostly from diseases of poverty like diarrhea.”[3] He claims that sweatshop work is often “less dangerous or arduous… than most alternatives in poor countries” and that supporting sweatshops in places like Africa will boost economic reform because “If Africa could establish a clothing export industry, that would fight poverty far more effectively than any foreign aid program.”[4]”
Hmmm. Strange. A lefty moonbat CRITICAL of the anti-sweatshop movement?
Of course, there’s this campaign:
“Kristof has criticized in his Times column the ongoing denial of the Armenian genocide by the Turkish government.”
Uh-oh. An MSM columnist taking the same view of the Bush administration, and criticizing one of the most powerful Muslim nations?
Wow – those are certainly leftist moonbat qualifications. Watch out, Naomi Klein!! Kristof’s go yer number!!
Dolt.
Cal2,
The second quote should read:
“Winston, if I was your wife I’d poison your tea”
“Madam, if you were my wife I would drink it!”
Well, that’s got to take the cake, a confirmed leftard moonbat, rejecting the qualifications of another.
I guess Kristoff isn’t welcome in the cave, dolt?
It seems the actual content of the report somehow got missed in the writers qualification as a moonbat imbroglio.
Gee, Dave
Your pal Greg asserted that over half of Americans “feel good” about the US being in Iraq.
I responded with the fact that 65% of American disapprove of the US being in Iraq.
Greg was expressing a buncha wishful thinking emotions. I was responding with fact.
Oh and Daisy –
Typical lame-o response to being pwned on the Kristof thing.
But that’s really not surprising, is it?
Irwin: Kristof is a leftist moonbat.
JR: Actually, here’s some evidence that proves he’s rather conservative. Goes back a few years, too, and extends right up to his present day commentary. It’s not conclusive evidence, but it stands up better than standing on the online equivalent of a streetcorner and screaming “Left moonbat!” with no proof. Dolt.
Irwin: Nuh-uh! He’s a leftist moonbat! A moonbat, I tell’s ya!!
(Looks around for help. A tumbleweed rolls by).
Well, you’re a lefty moonbat, and you hate him!! That’s craazy! And you’re a dolt. Heh, that’s a good one!! Dolt!
JR: Uh-huh. Have a nice day, sir. (Backs away slowly. Leaves for smarter pastures.)
Who rang the idiot bell in the idiot cave?
Now, there’s two moonbats defending their title by rejecting an unqualified moonbat.
And amidst all their confusion as to what qualifies one to be considered a moonbat, the actual content of the article goes without comment.
Blink.
Well, okay, Daisy
Just what was the actual content of the report?
That Obama spent some time in Kenya, that he studied the Koran as part of his stay there, that his grandfather was a Muslim?
So what?
I know you don’t get out much, but there’s a big wide world out there. Though you haven’t gone much past the Slurpee stand at your local 7-11, there are some who feel that in an interconnected world it might be nice to have someone in charge who has a bit of familiarity with life beyond the Slurpee stand.
But just what are you saying? That Islam is inherently bad and that anyone who has a relative who was involved in it should be disqualified from being President? Are you saying Obama is a Muslim terrorist? That all Muslims are terrorists? That Islam should be banned?
The facts tells us that not all Muslims are terrorists.
They also tell us that 15 of the hijackers who took down the WTC were most assuredly Muslim terrorists from Saudi Arabia.
Bush regularly is photographed holding hands with the king of Saudi Arabia. The Bush family is so close to the royal family of Saudi Arabia that Prince Bandar is referred to as ‘Bandar Bush’. The Bush family has been in business with the Bin Laden family. Bush stated that he’s “not all that concerned” about the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden, the killer of 3000 Americans on 9/11.
None of that concerns you. But the fact that Obama saw a little bit of the world when he was a kid concerns you.
Weird.
Volik>
See Volik there you go again, wrong, wrong, wrong. You don’t have any kids I hope?
Thanks for the substantive debate, Knight
I knew Daisy would have nothing to say because he’s only good for spewing bile and isn’t man enough to explain the rationale behind his outbursts of ignorance anyway.
But you do well enough as the archetype of the intellectual prowess displayed on this site: evrybody who’s not a knuckle-dragging inbred racist like you guys is just “wrong wrong wrong” with no reasoning beyond that.
It’s like the behaviour of a 4 year old stamping their foot: “you’re wrong wrong wrong because I say so!”
Except you’re presumably a grown man doing this.
Gross!
volik >
He he he – Liberal gullibility at it’s finest.
Nobody debates you my learned little nerd, because you answer yourself with every post on everyone else’s behalf. Re-read all you questions to me above!
Then it’s you who sputter and fling malicious accusations of racism in your righteous and arrogant persona that is so typical of the soft liberal view of the world. The hamster defense! “These people don’t agree with me so I’ll label them with the only tools in my arsenal that may shut them up”.
The responses you have been receiving are not “the behaviour of a 4 year old stamping their foot” at all, rather they are the responses of adults who are patronizing you with whimsical statements translated to: “your not worthy”!
Volik you have indeed been weighed – measured – and found wanting. Further rationalizing with you is not only a futile attempt to save you from your purple planet, there is a genuine fear that you may hurt yourself…and we do care regardless of your claims.
Knight99
I’m not labelling you racist because it “may shut you up”.
You’ve already labelled yourself a racist with your talk of Browns and Black and Negroes, etc. You’ve labelled yourself a homophobe with your talk of “Fags”.
These are simply facts I have observed.
As I’ve observed a litany of racist remarks on this site.
Truth be told that’s the only reason this site exists: so a bunch of pasty white impotent old mouth-breathers can vent their racism and their embitteredness that the world has passed them by.
Because it has. In the big wide world beyond your consciousness your attitudes are grotesque embarrassments. Kate has thoughtfully allowed you all a place to stand and shake your fists ineffectually.
Ta-ta.
Volik>
The problem with righteous little people such as yourself is you have no idea when you’ve been played along like a dumb ass kid. Re-read the posts you mention and you see the hook and bait. It’s just a matter of time until some Liberal weirdo compelled to spout his insane rhetoric grabs the line for a laugh. And we’re laughing………….White, black, brown and yellow. Go takes some pictures of swastikas in the little boy’s bathrooms and tell us about it next week. By the by all the words are a part of the English language and the only people they offend is you, Daisy Duke. Not that I need to bother you with any personal facts but I have plenty of friends of all colors and religions, yes and even Muslims. You are just cheap entertainment and reinforcement to everyone here as to why Liberalism is a mental disease……….Adios Cleopatra…..……..
