“It’s the politics that got small.”
John Iveson – “… Mr. Spector’s secretary had come to her to say she had been asked to photocopy Mr. Mulroney’s household expenses and had felt it was a “very unusual request.”
Flashback: Once a slimy little creep, always a slimy little creep, I guess.

Looks like the Black Rod nailed a bullseye when he asked whether the 2nd Liberal that Cruickshank inadvertently alluded to that Krista Erickson was sending emails to was Szabo.
Hoo hah.
I wonder how the Purple Dinosaur is doing with his SLAP suits around the blogosphere these days?
This is what happens when a “free” press conspires with an opposition party to embarrass the ruling party. A news organization – the CBC, trying to create “news” from an inquisition of past doings that have already been investigated to death. They have nothing on Harper so will go to any lengths to create “something” in concert with the Liberals in hopes the public will buy it.
Well myself, I wouldn’t vote Liberal even if the other party were commies, at least the commies competence and trust level would be higher. As for the CBC, I don’t trust their news/reporting, I don’t watch their news, TV shows or much else because they are a corrupt organization. Also the CBC is so infected with political correctness that they whatever they say about anything is suspect.
The Liberal left and the CBC could disappear tomorrow and I think this country would be far better off.
I’m ready for my close-up, Mr Dion.
LEDA, betcha will never, ever, hear this on a CBC news commentary: ………The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.
This year’s term: “Political Correctness”.
“Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of dog shit by the clean end.”
I recognize that photo, yeah, it was taken outside my club a while back. Maybe I’m just a dumb piano player, but I play by ear, and I can lip read too. That dame is saying ‘I don’t like your insinuation, asshole, – go ef yourself buster’
Globe and Mail writer, Brodie Fenlon has swamped you with a lot of pointless detail so you fail to see the reason two Million$ plus of our money was paid to Mulrony.
That also hides how the Liberal party erred.
Allan Rock stated it in plain language. One only had to listen.
Rock said the letter of inquiry about Brian and Karl to Swiss authorities used * conclusive * language.
Normally a letter to foreign governments or banking firms re inquiry is couched in language of *alleged* or possible actions.
The letter from Liberal government lawyers was written in *conclusive* language and is the same as a firm accusation, thus actionable in courts of law.
Copies went to the Principals Brian and Karl and they saw how leaking a copy to the G&M would make the government liable for slander.
Allan Rock openly stated this was the reason for awarding the 2 Million$ to Brian without any contest.
Rock is under oath and as a professional, he knows the penalty of being caught in a lie is severe.
So, to put it simply, lawyers in the Liberal government could not resist making premature accusations in a letter of inquiry and it cost us two Million$ plus.
There are many other questions that will leave egg all over the Cretien / Martinites, but that*s more fun for later. =TG
Good grief. Air Canada is in the process of retiring their infamous Airbus aircraft and the liberals are (still) looking for skeletons.
Thank God there was never an inquiry into the Avro Arrow.
That said, let’s crack open the books at the CWB and the CBC. Better yet, why not just a threat to look into things? You’d see the Libranos scurrying under the furniture like frightened cockroaches. Who needs a majority when the opposition is in perpetual pants pissing fear?
Cue Vincent Price: HA HA HA HA!!!
The so called “ethics” commitee are so concerned about a couple of hundred grand of PRIVATE money and at the same time ignore Shawinigate/BDC that involved millions of OUR taxpayers dollars.
Also what about the $50 million of OUR taxpayers dollars that are still missing from ADSCAM…where is this money? Who in the Liberal family has this money? You will notice the Liberals and the MSM are very quiet about this…i wonder why?
Kate, why do I think Norm got his documents from a chick named “MWM”??
The committee is essentially now trolling through Stevie Cameron’s book. Norman S outs a spike in all of that talk about cash payments. Says nothing about Airbus.
His only complaint, that the committee is looking in the wrong place, they should be following the allegation of the $10,000,000 allegedly paid in Canada.
So now lets stop there for a second. Where has that allegation come from. It has come from Schreibers lawyer. Some would say his records, which isnt true, there is no indication in Schreibers banking records that he paid 10 mil in Canada.
Lets go one level deeper. Schmeergeld was tax deductible. KHS is up on tax evasion charges in Germany, essentially for claiming these as expenses when they may have been income to himself, ie he kept the 10 mil.
Oh oh, KHS has incentive to lie. I used to support a deal with KHS to see if he would talk. Now it is clear there is moral hazard in that. He has incentive to lie to Canadian authorities to drag out his freedom.
Gaming this out, if you want the truth. Send his ass back to the land of chocolate. If he wants to get out of jail he needs to porve to german authoritires that he paid bribes. Then he is out of the German jail. Once that happens we have the evidence to go after the receipients of the bribes.
If he cant prove anything, my suspicion, then he is sitting where he belongs, in jail. And we wont go through this naval gazing exercise.
Send KHS back to Germany, thats the only way you will get the truth.
Back to Spector, he essentially exonerated Mulroney. He pumped up his appearance so his suggestions would be heard.
Rock…..he didnt say he wouldnt have settled, he said if he knew about the 300,000 he wouldnt have settled on the terms they did. A very different statement….they still know they did a bad thing but they might have got the settlement cut in half.
The irony of calling this Mulroney fishing trip an “Ethics” Committee when the Chair is suspect already of knowing his fellow Liberals on the committee to colluded with CBC for material to question Mulroney.
If he did not know his Liberal members did. Nothing ethical about that lot.
That, and the vitriolic, over-the-top antics of Pat Martin and full of himself Mulcair of the NDP.
Calling a former PM in for questioning should at least allow him some respect and fairness. This lynch mob has him guilty before being heard and they’re treating him like a criminal.
This is one more sign the Country needs a Conservative Majority to clear the deadwood.
allan rock doesn’t know what libel means?
That was riveting testimony by Normie. All that money spent on living room furniture for 24 Sussex dr. I can’t wait until he gets to the part where Mila has such shitty taste in draperies.
Anyone recall how Allan Rock handled the tainted blood scandal?
Watched the hearing last eve,and all I could think was, what an absolute waste of time!As one columnist suggests,it was like the Seinfeld show..a show about NOTHING!I just hope and pray, that the Cons are doing some serious detective work,on the apparant close ties and mtgs.between KHS,Szabo, and Thibeault.Big thumbs up to Duffy as well for pointing out that he wouldn’t believe a word that comes out of Karl’s mouth.
I want PMSH to open up the books on cbc, wheat board, and Indian Affairs..I’m sure the stench coming out of those files would ‘outstink’ anything that the Libs are trying to smear the Cons.with.
Allan Rock has the balls to comment on a paltry 2 million bucks paid to Mulroney saying it would have been much less had they known about KHS’s cash to Brian. This after his black hole money sucking 2 billion dollar gun registry. Man I’d like to kick that asshat right in the boils!
rock is has an insufferable righteousness to him. I agree that if you really wanted to look into what went one you would review all cabinet minutes and memos at the justice department, bureaucratic and political, and the RCMP to get the full picture as to why.
I guess we only have to wait another 10- 15 years for it all to be released and made public.
An inquiry judge could review them in secret and release whatever he felt was relevant. That would be worthwhile.
It is clear that the Mulroney sschreiber 225,000 was not pretty but not illegal. If you want to know IF schreiber bribed anyone and who send him back to Germany, only by telling the truth will he keep himself out of jail, assuming there is any truth to tell and prove. If he has nothing he spends his dying days in a german 10×10 which if he evaded taxes on 10 to 20 million dollars is probably where he should be.
The only reason the Liberals can get away with all this witch-hunting is because of their own pristine record. Otherwise, it would make them look petty, paltry, pathetic, and partisan.
Whenever the Liberals bring a petty accusation against the Conservatives, the more pertinent should be pointed out: still no Liberal jailed for Abscam, and the 100s of millions siphoned from taxpayers still not returned.
Adscam.
PS — why is Kate all dressed up in the picture?

From the readers coments, it seems the Ethics Inquisition has little, check that, NO credibility. I am (hardly)surprised.
Hey eastern Paul, is it snowing/blowing up your way? Mrs. Eskimo and Nanook (Junior) are enroute there this morning.
PS. Good link. Nothing like a pack of Libranos on a fishing expedition. Too bad they have to rely on the CBC to bait thier hooks for them.
So let me see if I ‘ve got this straight; guys like Norm and WK were big behind the scenes movers and shakers in our Gubmint for the last 25 years.
Jeez, once the curtain is pulled back a bit, the reality of what Canadians are willing to accept in the place of “good government” becomes REALLY pathetic.
Surely these lightweights were positioned as fallguys with no real power or influence.
The size of the gigantic egos possessed by these 3rd string players, rivals only the scale of the corruption that Canadians continues to tolerate.
Do you think the German case will settle out of Court?
Seems the liberal’s only got excited when he was going to be deported.
It is noteworthy that his German Controllers may have better records of who was greased and when, given that Germany is noted for record keeping.
Is Rock suggesting that Mulroney would have said, “Oh Ok, no settlement; good then I’ll go away.” No, if Lib government had refused to settle (if they knew about KHS irrelevant “testimony”), Mulroney would simply have proceeded with his libel suit, won handily, so Rock and his buds would have cost taxpayers even more money than they did with their Stevie Cameron witchunt.
Spare us Rock, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Agreed – Norman Spector is nothing but a slimy little twerp. Has a monumental ego; of course he was building himself up for the Commission; he wanted Everyone Looking at Him. The fact that there is nothing there to look at or listen to, he will, as he did, say that ‘it’s your fault if you aren’t smart enough to see The Wisdom That is Me, Norm Spector’.
Malicious, petty and with that ego – that’s Norm Spector.
Nice comment re Alan Rock’s two billion gun registry.
I almost forgot: on numerous occasions, Norman Spector wrote that I (Kathy Shaidle) was “personally responsible for millions of late term abortions in Canada.”
Nope, I don’t get that one either.
Next riveting story from Norman Spector:
“I was horrified to witness the Prime Minister reach for the wrong salad fork during a formal dinner with visiting heads of state, thereby jeopardizing Peace in the Middle East and the future of Canadian Health Care for at least a generation.”
kathy
“personally responsible for millions of late term abortions in Canada.”
buy a faster truck, Eh!!!!!!
Does ANYONE know where Alfonso Cashbagliano is hanging out these days? Wikipedia says he’s in the US. I’m wondering if he’s an uncredited advisor to the Sopranos.
Notice the CTV piece was authored by, the nebulous *CTV Staff*.
Allan Rock*s letter of inquiry to the Swiss was written in *accusatory* language.
This is the mistake that gave Brian a legal right to collect 2 Million$ plus.
If Rocks letter was one of *Possible alegations*, the customary inquiry form, there would have been no grounds for any award to Mulroney.
CTV avoids mention of Liberal errors that cost us tax dollars.= TG
PS: Allan Rock openly admitted the error in his testimony.
Too smooth for CTV, I guess. = TG
Anybody remember that Allan Rock is responsible for the gun registry, aka a billion bucks to build a database?
This guy doesn’t have skeletons in his closet, he’s got whole frickin’ graveyards.
BTW, nice dress Kate. ~;D
I enjoy your blog but this is taking partisanship too far. I don’t care about what Spector did or didn’t do on the Shotgun three years ago.
The question for conservatives is whether we are going to back a proper public inquiry into Schreiber’s dealings with Mulroney or not.
Spector made a powerful argument that we need to have a system in place for holding public officials accountable (as BC does).
Instead of arguing the merits of his case, you (and the conservative MPs on the committee) want to run interference for the egregious Mulroney. Have you forgotten that it was his corruption and patronage politics that split the right in the first place?
Norman is completely yanking the committee”s chain. Egomaniac though he maybe, he’s giving the committee what it deserves – fluff.
Well, with Chretien is in Montreal trying to toss out all Gomery’s work, maybe we can toss out this Mulroney stuff as well. If he’s trying to make out there was no scandal, where the hell’s the missing money then?
I would like to see Chretien hauled up to answer a few questions on some of his questionable dealings in and around Shawinigan. This time without his golf balls.
Craig, not at all. Mulroney should admit he lied under oath about his relationship with Karl and with some measure of class, return his 2+ Million$ fraud award.
Then, having set the modern standard, we should expect Liberals to clear their collective guilt and return the Billion$ they have socked away in Swiss accounts. = TG
Someone tell me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Spector sworn in by the “ethics” committee to give evidence? So what evidence did he actually give apart from a few meaningless details about how the party paid some of Mulroney’s expenses?
From the CTV article, and this morning’s Post, it looks like most of his appearance was given over to lecturing the committee about what it should do and other rants, mostly unrelated to the mandate of the committee. What purpose was accomplished here other than inane grandstanding by a has-been? If he had carried on like that before a court or a serious administrative tribunal he would have been found in contempt and given the heave-ho. What kind of process is happening here when a supposed witness is giving wackjob final argument on matters unrelated to the purpose of the hearing?
Spector deserves all the ridicule he gets. He spent weeks teasing the media about the “goods” he had on Mulroney, and when he finally had his moment in history …. he had nuttin’.
You can hate Mulroney all you like, but it’s old news. And it’s been investigated and investigated and investigated, all on our dime. Let. It. Go.
He’s a private citizen, not a partisan chew toy.
Norman Spector is the silicone implant of the Ethics Committee.
