Again this is a very simple question. Do the candidates for Premier, or Prime Minister appear on the ballot in a general election?
As per Wikipedia “Stephen Harper is the current Prime Minister, appointed by Governor General Michaëlle Jean as the 22nd Prime Minister of Canada, on February 6, 2006.”
The Queen is advised by various minions and then appoints a Prime Minister. She can either take or dismiss this advice. The PM and all other Ministers for that matter serve at the pleasure of the Queen.
I know this is a sore point for some but only a very few elites get any say-so in who gets to be the PM.
