  6. I’m not sure what all the hub bub is about. Neither one of these socialists (Hillary or Osama) stand a chance of winning. Any one of the republican candidates has more experience than the two of them combined. Furthermore, neither of them have been asked any hard questions like the republicans have had to face. I would be very surprised if either of them came within 5% of whatever republican they go up against.
    B. Hussein Obama’s color notwhithstanding, his name and his muslim background are a mighty big albatross to be toting around come general election time.

    What kind of logic is portrayed by a person saying the TIME is right for a person because their skin is black or the TIME is right for a woman to be President? How much are they willing to overlook as to qualifications for such high office in allowing color or gender to be first consideration?

  13. I’ve been told (chastized) over the years that voting is a ‘right’ that automatically is bestowed upon citizens of a free country. Therefore, no qualification other than citizenship should be required.
    I still believe, after reading and listening to many uninformed people that the ‘right’ to vote in a free society should be ‘earned’ and treated more as a priveledge.
    Anyone who votes for/against a candidate based on gender, race, or the fact that ‘they have shifty eyes’ really should not be able to effect a result in any election.
    Qualification should be based on a general understanding of the country/province/municipality and an ability to at least address the following questions.
    What is the party platform?
    What is the history of the candidate?
    Do you understand the difference between debt and deficit?
    Does the word demographics mean anything to you?
    Does a global economy ring a bell?
    These are just a few examples of considerations that any voter should be familar with (add your own suggestions).
    Chosing a leader should not be a touchy/feely excercise. It must be based on logic and fact. But it isn’t.

    Doug, this very thought about the ’93 PC Party slogan refering to Kim Campbell crossed my mind when I read Kevin J’s comment.
    I have a serious question for voters… left-leaning voters, frankly… who would make race or gender their (seemingly) sole considerations for casting a ballot for ANY candidate. Does Condoleezza Rice fit the bill with you? No? Why not?

Instead of rushing to judgment, though, we should give Kinsella the benefit of the doubt and assume that he meant to say “I think it’s time to see somebody who is mulatto as President of the United States.”
    If Kinsella didn’t misspeak, if he does judge people so much on the basis of race that he insists on calling someone who’s only half-white “black”, then I don’t know what to think of him anymore.
    Personally, I think it’s time for a crippled President, as long as he’s not a Jew. I mean, just to clarify, I wouldn’t oppose someone because he’s a Jew, nor would I support someone because he’s a Jew, it’s just that America’s not ready for someone who’s both a Jew and a cripple. It’s just not time, not yet; cripples are first in line, then blacks, then Jews, then women, then mulattos, then Asians.
    Mind you, if the candidate had merely converted to Judaism, and had only a slight limp, he should be given a chance, but only if “it’s time”, at that particular time, for that particular mixed-identity group to be next in line to get their token president.

    Of course, he’s right. Democracy has profound shortcomings, and these are becoming more evident each election. There’s a reason Churchill said “Democracy is the worst form of government, save for all the others”. Of course, he’s also right. Attempting to hand out voting rights based on meeting certain criteria of intelligence or knowledge is frought with the danger of abuse and ineptitude. Then there’s the other problem. People like my wife. Smart as a whip, but votes for candidates based on how they look. Do you think she could manipulate the system and get a voting “right”? You bet she could – probably with more certainty of success than just about anyone. Then she’d vote for the candidate with the best hair do.

    I disagree Joe. I maintain that partisan liberals come in 2 varieties:
    Useful idiots: these may be emotional but they are products of conditioning…utopian programming from multiple sources…they have been conditioned to be superficial and accept things as presented at face value and to never question their utopian masters/programmers..they are lead around by their emotions and conditioned insensate herd reflex… primarily because they are either incapable of independent critical thought or they had this capacity conditioned out of them…they are the Borg
    Social engineers: these are the “programmers” who supply the utopian revisionist mythos that is used to program the “useful idiots”. This creed are well aware of the science of controlling large populations with culture/political/ideological manipulation…these are the arch-liberals who we used to refer to as Fabians or a 5th column…they seek to construct the utopian new order on the ashes of the one they are deconstructing with the help of their army of the unthinking (the useful idiots).

In discussing politics with many of my girlfriends I have noticed that most of them do tend to focus on looks. “I don’t like the way he looks.” I have heard the shifty eye comment many times from women about Harper. What is up with that. And like Littlebones pointed out, these were not stupid airheads, they were all intelligent successful women.
