As reprehensible as is what she did, I believe there is blanket immunity for what is said within the HoC. The punishment, if any, will have to come via HoC rules and procedures — no recourse to the courts.

There were some nasty comments pre-judging Moore to the tone that he should be fired etc. They are still there, and no one can comment. Is there a way to contact them?

Given that CBC, (Don Newman, and Peter Mansbridge) aired the accusation on national tv could they also be included in the complaint? While the house is a privledged enviroment where you can get away with saying almost anything, I don’t think CBC has immunity just because the house does.

I like Steve Janke’s suggestion….she should be sent to a sensitivity training class to understand that not all men are objectifying women.
At a minimum the Speaker should suspend both Redman and Mathyssen for some time frame for bringing the house into ill repute. As well, since this matter was discussed at NDP caucus the Speaker should haul in the Leader and the House Leader and Whip from the NDP and make clear in no uncertain terms that this was beyond the pale, will not be tolerated and absolutely must stop.
Plus give them the cold shoulder for a day in recognizing the NDP in question period.

The fact that she repeated her accusations outside the House means that she’s open to a lawsuit. I don’t think it should go that far, but I think that the House needs a stronger Speaker. The House is deteriorating to street corner gang mentality.
The Liberals and NDP have become, not elected members of parliament, responsible to the electorate to run the country, but partisan gangs, out for the kill, using whatever criminal tactics they can get away with and focused solely on their own political party’s power.

Plus give them the cold shoulder for a day in recognizing the NDP in question period.

The fact that she repeated her accusations outside the House means that she’s open to a lawsuit. I don’t think it should go that far, but I think that the House needs a stronger Speaker. The House is deteriorating to street corner gang mentality.
The Liberals and NDP have become, not elected members of parliament, responsible to the electorate to run the country, but partisan gangs, out for the kill, using whatever criminal tactics they can get away with and focused solely on their own political party’s power.
Neither party has any interest in Canada or the wellbeing of Canadians. It’s strictly gang warfare, focused on control of the turf, on power, on destroying the other gang.
This is the real problem. How does one stop this transformation of these two political parties to street corner gangs?

Has anyone offered any explanation of just what that woman was doing eaves dropping on someones business? IMO – same thing as listening in on a telephone call or reading mail over a persons shoulder. It’s uncalled for, dishonest, low and just plain creepy behaviour.

This is damaging. I think Moore must sue her, in order to get the media to adjust to the truth.

We complain about overuse and abuse of the privacy laws. Now here’s an instance of where personal privacy applies. I was always taught that it is most impolite to read over someone’s shoulder, especially personal correspondence. It surely does look like someone grasping desperately for a political advantage, doesn’t it? Has that woman no regard for our privacy laws and customs?
If that Liberal Shrew, Redmond, stands in the HOC and apologizes for her support for Mathyssen’s statement, as well, James should accept neither. This is far too damaging as well as hurtful for him to be brushed off with an apology.
He needs to go far afield already to save his reputation, it’s been reported out of the country as well.
