Invited down out of the attic?
Saskatchewan organic farmer and anti-free trade activist David Orchard says he’s been approached about running for a federal Liberal nomination in British Columbia. […] Orchard, who endorsed Stephane Dion during the recent Liberal leadership race, declined to say where he was considering running in British Columbia, although rumour has it Burnaby-New Westminster is one possibility.
Oh, please let this be true.

he was also looking at Saskatoon-Wanuskewin earlier this year, his home riding.
Judging from Ontaxio’s voter base he would do quite well here too.
Remember the province’s agricultural industry slogan “Foodland Ontario”?…..Well there’s lots of vegetable type votes ripe for the picking here!
David Orchard…the No.1 reason I would never eat organic food!
Are the taxpayers buying his depenz?
Hm… no, I can’t see him winning in Bur-West (it’s right next to my home riding). It’s become a fairly strong NDP riding over the last couple of elections.
Makes sense in the context that Gordon Campbell is currently trying to out green the Green Party, Green Giant or anything or anyone who has ever uttered the word “green” or “environment”.
So, the same LIEberal party that was AGAINST free trade before they were FOR it are now going to be AGAINST free trade again? You need a stroboscope to keep up with their flip-flops.
Here’s a crazy idea. How about letting the people of Burnaby-New Westminster decide who they want as a Liberal candidate?
I wonder if Orchard is planning to crossdress on the campaign trail to help meet Dion’s women candidacy requirements.
The new name for the Lieberals should be the Lying Moonbat Party of Canada.
We now know LIEberal Party applies to Ontario as well as their Federal cousins, it’s endemic and epidemic.
Dalty McGuinty has already made new promises there’s now way in hell he’ll be able to keep both in health care and education.
One he will be able to keep is a Family day holiday third Monday in February, here endeth the epistle.
Davie Orchard would be one ugly dame so suggesting he cross dress to fill Steffi’s quota wouldn’t help his chances.
He’ll make a fine antagonist for the LIEberals.
Are they for free trade? Is Davie for free trade?
Have they all flipped? We know for sure they’ve flopped.
No, Ryan LIBERAL is perfect.
Lying
Incompetent
Bureaucratic
Extravagant
Reprehensible
Alienating
Leftists
Saskatchewan’s loss would be BC’s loss.
Let me see if I have the score card correct: Dion looses Marc Garneau in Quebec and gains David Orchard in BC. Loose a rocket scientist and gain a moonbat…seems pretty emblematic of the Liberals to me.
That riding was either Svend Robinson’s or right next to it so the bar has been set accordingly. I’m sure Orchard can measure up to it.
First Brison, then Belinda, Garth and now Orchard?
Is Dion an NDP plant there to sabotage the liberals?
He just couldn’t do more damage if he tried!
orchard genuinely scares me – sask really likes their “extreme politics”
C’mon, wouldn’t it be a treat to see Papa Moonbat hit the hustings? And will Joe Clark come out and stomp door-to-door for Orchard, given his earlier embrace of him? All that’s missing is George Romero as the campaign director.
JLC I stand corrected. Liberal decribes them.
Yes Joe Clark needs to get out there and campaign for Orchard. Then we will have a former Prime Minister campaigning for the party that has a son of the man who defeated him running for them too. Now tell me what other nation this could happen in?
Seeing this moonbat is anti-free trade, we need to parachute someone related to Mulroney into the riding for the Tories so we have the anti-free trade Orchard, backed by Joe Clark, running as a Liberal against one of the blood relatives of Mr. Free Trade himself Brian Mulroney. While we are at it, we must have Preston Manning and Kim Campbell campaigning for the Tory candidate in the riding.
Surely, Joe Clark will be very proud of Orchard …
Of course Joe Clark will be very proud of Orchard as he probably is of May, Brisson, and Turner.
Here’s a crazy idea. How about letting the people of Burnaby-New Westminster decide who they want as a Liberal candidate?
Wedding the Liberal party to grass roots democracy. What a radical concept!
Surely, Joe Clark will be very proud of Orchard …
In 1998, Clark described Orchard as a tourist in the Tory Party. For one of the few times in his life, Clark showed accurate political judgment. I like Joe personally, and I think he is a basically decent man, but he has this amazing knack, as I think John Reynolds put it, of never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
“The crazy old aunt of Canadian politics” sounds like a self-criticism by Kate. I think you are too hard on yourself, though, Kate, because I don’t think you qualify as old, yet.
“Sammy” also has a problem as he won’t eat organic foods because of David Orchard! This might require long-term therapy, but a quick solution is to find foods not coming from the Orchard farms. Orchard grows wheat and alfalfa which would leave Sammy with a lot of other foods to choose from. Bon appetit, Sammy!
“Brian in Calgary” brings up the old canard about Joe Clark during the 1998 PC leadership campaign calling David Orchard “a tourist” (in the party).
David Orchard, of course, not only proved him wrong but also demonstrated his loyalty to Clark when the knives came out to force Clark to give in to Reform/Alliance party’s take-over plans. Clark and Orchard opposed to merger and fought to prevent the demise of Canada’s founding party. Today, of course, the “Conservatives” live off this identity theft, even falsely claiming to be “Tories,”and fooling no one but the mainstream media. In reality we have in them the Republican Party North, hell-bent to take Canada completely into the realm of the Great Empire to the south of us.

Marjaleena – You forget where I live. He may be able to pull his crazy quilt over the eyes of those in other parts of the country, but if David Orchard had the support he claims, he’d run in the riding he lives in.
Really now – I know Orchards who won’t admit to knowing this man.
Kate,
1) Living in Saskatchewan in no way gives you a justification to spout vitriol and toss gratuitous insults at David Orchard or anyone else. If you have a criticism, say it and defend it in a principled way.
2) You don’t know what riding David Orchard is considering running in. (Hint: it ain’t in B.C!)
3) I can probably find relatives of yours, too, who don’t like you or choose to associate with you. Big deal!
Marjaleena, we’ve been subjected to Orchard’s special brand of attention-seeking politics for nearly 20 years, I believe. I think that affords me the right to draw conclusions about his legitimacy based on observation of his words and actions in the public domain.
That’s not “gratuitous”. It’s making an informed decision as a voter.
In short – he’s a narcissistic crank and the Liberals richly deserve him.
So, Kate, you must have quite a few concrete examples of “Orchard”s special brand of attention-seeking politics for nearly 20 years.” If you do, please share a few of those examples. If not, that is just another gratuitous insult that you appear so easily to deliver to people with who you have political disagreements of some kind or another: they are “attention-seeking”, whereas politicians and others who you favour (eg. Steven Harper et al), are probably merely public-spirited and quite honourable in their aspirations.
As for “narcissistic,” is there anything in your background and profession that enables you to diagnose people you have never met or talked to and label them without hesitation? Or is this just another gratuitous insult from a bottomless well?
David Ochard sound like one of those enviromwntalists wackos you canadians certianly dont need that wacko and is wacky ideas it sould to me like his brains have composted. LET HIM MEET THE YANKEE GARDERNER AND FEED HIM TO GOMER THE COMPOST PILE
