Because nobody in their right mind wants better roads, a higher standard of living, or their children to return home…
And if that isn’t enough to scare you…

h/t – John Gormley Live
Giving this more thought – this “making us less like Alberta” campaign slogan the NDP has launched offers a host of possibilities…

…talked to some close folks in Saskatoon, they’re ready for a change.
Now, will the rural vote swing?
Have there been any Saskatchewan polls done lately? Maybe they aren’t necessary; you can extrapolate NDP internal polling #s from the “fear factor” of this video. I estimate the Sask Party to have a 17% lead over the NDP, am I right?
A booming economy brings with it its own challenges (rising land and house costs etc.) but those challenges pale when compared to the challenges of stagnation. What is so wrong with no money needed to service a provincial debt, no need for PST, much lower provincial income tax rates etc.?
We could only be so fortunate as to be a little more like Alberta. It truly is time to oust the NDP, they have proven to be a totally ineffectual party. I find their advertisements to be cheap and sleazy. There is something definitely wrong if you cannot campaign on your accomlishments and have to resort to misleading scare tactics. I hope the Sask Party does not stoop to such a low level. Shame on Calvert.
Not only is the messaging horrible in this commercial. These are also some of the worst looking political ads I have ever seen. The wolf looks so weird.
Wow, they’re bashing Alberta the way they bash the US. I think that’s a mistake.
I got a call last night from someone conducting a poll for the Sask Party. He asked if I planned to vote for the Sask Party in the next provincial election. I told him “as often as I can”. So, yes, the Sask Party is presently doing some polling. The information is probably for “internal” purposes as I doubt the poll results will be “officially” released to the public.
What a great ad!!
Why would anybody in their right mind want too reduce hospital wait times, improve the highways, (of which there are far better roads in Cambodia, try Highway 41 sometime)privatize the crown corps. Or maybe reduce the administration of all of these. When glorious state ownership can continue to ruin everything. This is going to be the dirtiest, salacious mud fest ever
Not only is George Bush, the USA, Grant Devine, Fox News and Alberta Bad for Saskatchewan, the NDP wonderfully blend the word “PORN” into the commercial. Beauty.
Bang on, Soup. They’re taking a page from the federal campaign playbook, but since accusing Brad Wall of turning Saskatchewan into the US is absurd, they simply substituted Alberta.
Politics of Envy 101.
I would trade the recession we are having in eastern Ontario for the boom in Alberta any day. Damn socialist morons just hate success. I think it reminds them of what losers they are. From what I have read, SK has almost the same resource base as AB. As I have always said, a moonbat/dipper/socialist could not organize an orgy in a bordello on dollar day with a sack full of loonies.
The trouble is that the urban greenie dipper will suck this crap up as usual but there are a whole lot of seniors out there (like my mom-in-law) who still believe what the MSM and government tell her. Add the fear of those capitalists taking away their meager pensions and you have sheep in grey wool.
If Global Warming is actually true, Saskatchewan is a dust bowl waiting to happen again.
Toss the Commies … develop the oil and gas so you can afford to pump the water.
Why do the NDP insist on portraying their voters as sheep?!
Sheep are stupid animals that flock tightly together whenever anything different occurs, and the NDP sector of the voting public certainly meets the criteria, but surely not ALL Saskatchewanians.
Give these guys the boot, folks, you’ll be glad you did.
btw, any truth to the rumor that Stelmach and Bush are close friends?
Lorne Calvert and accolytes need to update their messaging for the ‘sheep’.
Because we all know that Little RED Riding Hood said to the wolf:
“MY WHAT BIG TEETH YOU HAVE!”
So don’t go into the big Alberta forest, and stay on the safe Sask. NDP path; potholes and all.
It’s the New World Order!
Motto could also be “More Socialist than Manitoba!”
Ummm.. I couldn’t help but notice that the picture on the gov of sask website is of a road that looks like it should be a third world country. Is that the BEST they could do?? It even has the red flag up!!
Hehe, the link to Saskatchewan’s Transportation Strategy takes you to a 404 error.
Mellisa
Good catch for a moment I though that was a farmers field. A Sask highway aka goat trail.
As an Albertan, all I can say is that we are benefitting greatly from the exodus of skilled people from Saskatchewan. Keep up the good work, Mr. Calvert.
The Mex party
Making us more
like the USA
Mexico!
The best place to work, live and raise a family.
The most accurate poll of all is the one that allows individuals to vote with their feet.
So Lorne is a bit of Pied Piper “RM”, he just isn’t aware of it, like most Socialists, he’s in Dreamland.
Ummm.. I couldn’t help but notice that the picture on the gov of sask website is of a road that looks like it should be a third world country.
Heh, picture has been changed.
The Backward Province’s roads, nothing like Alberta. Beware of any wolf in sheep’s clothing who would change that.
Anyway, I thought dippers compared themselves to mice.
Eh… the picture I’ve got up is my photoshopped version.
“Why do the NDP insist on portraying their voters as sheep?!” dmorris
The Rev. L. Calvert replies:
“I am your Shepherd; You shall not want. Socialism maketh You to lie down supine in green wheat/barley CWB pastures: I am the Good Shepherd; I leadeth You beside the still waters to the Gulag. Socialism stealeth your soul. You are Mine.* Amen.

Can’t wait for the Provincial Election! 🙂
There’s a middle class in Saskatchewan I thought they all moved to Alberta?
Were different people move to Alberta who moves to socialst utopias?
Latest demographics show that 250,000 or Calgaries 1 million originated in Saskatchewan. Ouch!
“PTRN?”
…lay off the moonshine, Kate.
Confused Minion:
It is a well researched aspect of the human brain, that when confronted with a word that is mispelled (not minor, but major mispelling) the brain generally autocorrects it.
Thus anyone with 1st year psych would know that having the brain see something like:
Sask Party stood for PTRN
Sask Party stood for PTORN
Sask Party stood for PORTN
Sask Party stood for PORNT
or however you perceive those letters
it would be subliminally processed as:
Sask Party stood for PORN.
So FLICK off!
“Saskatchewan – Nothing like Alberta!”
Why not?
I wonder if this PORN (or PORNT) thingy was on purpose. Advertisements are constructed with enormous care, and the default assumption is that there are no accidents. What’s more, the slow and selective fading of characters is an unusual effect, and someone must have thought about which characters would fade last – at a minimum to prevent inadvertent obsceneties.
Therefore, I presume it was on purpose. But having said that, it may have been one joker with a sense of humour, rather than some deliberate, nefarious NDP plot.
I expect they will change the ad to remove the effect very soon.
Its the old, “oops, we didn’t mean it” , then they fix it, but the damage has been done. These people are well versed in spin, they know exactly what they are doing. communism…err socailism at its best. You hit the nail on the head rabbit.
I’m a proud Saskatchewanite visiting AB now: I ahve to admit, things here look better. Even teh “co-op” liquor stores are better stocked and priced than the LB in SK;
And I read how the AB Chief Justice was travelling to every Court House to put up a plaque commemorating 100 yrs of the Law Society of AB; in SK, we have Quennel doing the same thing, but politicising the process.
Kate, sorry to waste your time with my post. I’ll try better in the future…after the lobotomy.
Is “Nothing like Alberta” a PhotoShop? I’m really not being sarcastic, I’m honestly asking.
If it is real, it’ll probably give me subliminal nightmares when Saskatchewan votes ultra socialist again. I’ll still sleep f’n great though, considering the nightmares will be subliminal and I live in Alberta and all…
DrWright – not all middle class Saskatchewanians came to Alberta. My brother just moved back to Winnipeg from Saskatoon (after 2 years in Saskatchewan which followed 19 in Winnipeg).
Paul – I’m one of those estimated 250,000 Calgarians.
I too live in Alberta and the NDP are right….Saskatchewan is nothing like Alberta, thank God for Alberta! I am an ex-pat but still have a passion for Saskatchewan politics and an undying hatred for anything NDP. I’ll tell you now that all you folks that want to get rid of the lying NDP bastards had better get off your collective( sorry for the socialist reference) asses and work like you never have before when the writ is dropped. Don’t leave it to the next person to do the work, do it yourself and enlist the aid of all your right wing friends. Those assinine ads are just the start of what the socialist hordes will unleash. Remember they really don’t give a shit about governance, just winning at any cost! The lunatic fringe of the NDP bloggers…Leftdog, Laddie, Hubich, Joe K and the rest are hard at work already spreading the bullshit. I hope some of you have Brad Wall’s ear…please tell him to get up and fight…don’t turn the other check on these assholes. Get down and kick their ass NOW. He has to come out strong or they will run over him and again you will be sent to the gulag. Seriously if you want to kick the peckerheads out you better get to work now and don’t stop. I have been calling my friends in Saskatchewan to make sure they are on top of it. Give those sneaky NDP a-holes an inch and they’ll take Saskatchewan straight to Hell again.
Knight, that’s a photoshop. You could’ve just clicked the link, ya know… 🙂
Looks like CTV is on the ‘porn’ angle now haha….hope the sask party can play it for all it’s worth, kate!

I think the wolf in the video is actually a dog protecting the sheep; otherwise, that wolf would be ripping out the necks of those sheep…….relatives are sheep farmers, and they’ve experienced just that.
They changed the link Eugene, and after watching the video, all I can say is if Saskatchewan re-elects this anti-prosperous government, they deserve what they continue to get…
p.s There’s oilpatch roads here with heavy-ass equipment running up and down all day in better shape than the provincial highway(I assume) pictured in the screencap.
Being an Albertan for fifty years and family for over 107 yrs, and marrying a pretty sask girl, I have always had a soft spot for sask, I root for the riders when ,, well I have always liked the riders over calgary, don’t know why, but anyway I only hope you people the best in this election, please get out and vote and send these communistic bastards to the communist trash heap of life, make them see what communism has reeked on this planet. Total failure and misery, that is the communist way and the same thing that Lorne has planned for you good people of Sask. YOU CAN DO BETTER, you are good hard working people the same as us ALBERTANS!
There is another message in the fading letters. The line about Alberta fades to MART hint Walmart.
Those darned Ambercans
END THE NDP.
Anything that turns Saskatchewan into a have-province is in the best interests of Canada. Why?
Well when Dalton is reelected this October in Ontario – there’s only gonna be one have-province left in this country…and those guys are a little fed up of footing the bill.
In any country in the world, RICH is:
Clean, safe, healthy, educated and optimistic.
Socialists, like the NDP, are totally negative (like their ads already show) because they always want to divide up what somebody else has created.
They do not create wealth, they squander it.
Sask Party needs to impress upon voters that they will help to let individuals CREATE wealth in Sask to help make the province rich.
And more like Alberta, heh.
correct me if I am wrong but, don’t the first nations people perceive the wolf as a loyal, monogamous, family oriented animal? One that works as a unit. Where as the sheep will mindlessly follow their leader over a cliff. Doesn’t Sask. have a large aboriginal population?
…Calgary is Saskatchewan’s biggest city.
Yeah, was wondering about the ‘highway’ in the picture, nice speed bumps, err, pits.
hehehe…thought it was an actual road, well it is, …ah never mind.
From Sask Gov’t website:
Transportation
The transportation system in Saskatchewan has a long history of innovation, and is an important element of a strong provincial economy
Oil and Gas Industry
A major industry in Saskatchewan is the oil and gas sector – you might be surprised how much of an influence it has on our provincial economy.
…yep, I am surprized how little influence it has compared to Alberta, you know, that rich sister envy thing.
Farmers are wealthy. Have you ever heard of a bumper crop to help balance the budget? Under any gov’t.
What is Saskatchewan’s provincial flower? Is it those red diamond shaped ones that grow on the shoulder of the road near the potholes? I tried picking one, but you need a hacksaw to get through the metal stem.
They’re very pretty though.
They appear to be a member of the genus Bumpus Markus, or perhaps of the genus Bendus Suspensionus.
I saw a socialist bounding into the caragana row with one in it’s mouth, perhaps they feed on them.
