… you don’t piss into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the Lone Ranger and you don’t go to Daily Kos for your public policy advice;
A backlash quickly emerged after the Telluride Town Council adopted a resolution last week calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
“It’s huge, unbelievable,” said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. “Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) Web site is flooded with people saying they’re canceling their vacations here.”
Just because they share your hill, dude – doesn’t mean they share your politics.

I sent my cancellation in too. Not that I was planning to go their anyway. It was just on principle.
Vancouver passed a law declaring it a Nuclear free zone a few years ago. The USS Ranger always comes for a visit in the summer. The lefties were protesting US policy with neither confirms nor denies Nuclear weapons on board their ships. So the Ranger doesn’t come anymore. And the losers are all of the businesses that serviced the 5000 sailors aboard.
Nice move Telluride. Stupid move Vancouver. Not that its surprising. In 1986 an avowed Marxist named Harry Rankin came within a whisker of winning the Mayoralty.
Fortunately, Harry died a few years later.
I apologize for my spelling mistakes. I was on my second martini.
Funny thing about these Leftards, they always seem surprised when their Leftardicity brings harsh response and monetary consequences.
Some people support the President? Who’d a thunk it?
Geo?…shaken or stirred? You know what I can’t figure out is how to these people figure that driving out business will make them more prosperous? Am I missing something here?
Great….spelling mistakes to. What I meant to ask..was how do they figure driving out producing companies will bring in more money?
Oh.And congrats Kate on hitting 6 million +. Now if you could just start getting noticed by the MSM
It’s not necessarily that people have great love for the Pres.
It’s that people really despise municipal town councils sticking their noses into affairs that aren’t theirs. Local jurisdictions should worry about potholes, stray dogs, and such.
George W. Bush is quantifiably the worst president in the history of America. Those who support Bush are enemies of America and are probably bolshevik too.
Andrew’s not over the top this morning, is he?
Good G*D. You try being the President of the most powerful nation in the world–just till breakfast, Andrew–and see what people would say about you.
Bolsheviks? What does that make people who voted for and supported Beel Cleenton?
And let’s not forget: the alternative to President George Bush was AlBore. With him as Pres, we’d already have lost the war and he’d have all of us contributing to carbon tax credits, via his company, of course. With President Gore, he’d be mega-rich and we’d be poor, and there probably would have been a few more 9/11s on American soil and probably in Canada, too.
“What does that make people who voted for and supported Beel Cleenton?”
Compared to the crypto-commies who voted Bush? Patriots who made eight consecutive years of unprecedented peace, prosperity, and federal debt repayment happen.
“With President Gore, he’d be mega-rich and we’d be poor, and there probably would have been a few more 9/11s on American soil and probably in Canada, too.”
Sure. And everyone would have a pony. Speak adult, please.
“unprecedented peace”
Andrew – sweetie – take off the rose colored glasses and do a little google for conflicts during the playboy’s reign.
That’s what kills me about leftie’s – their illustrious leaders can be the scum of the earth but they will fawn and fuss and bow down before them paying thousands just for the priviledge of hearing them speak, conveniently forgetting all the bad that they invoked while lauding the “good” seen through their rose colored glasses. Try google – amazing how it gives you any information you require!
The difference between his term and GWB – the MSM didn’t write about every death, every battle, every protest. You never heard about deaths of armed personnel prior to 2001. The difference is that the leftist media choose to wage an all out “paper war” against GWB and lefties like you choose to believe everything you read rather than actually thinking, researching or using good old common sense.
So Andrew – excuse me while I go clean up the coffee I spewed over your comment….
…one word describes leftist mentality:
“Moo”
(herd mentality)
People, Andrew is a troll, and not a particularly clever one. Equating GWB supporters with bolsheviks is a pretty good clue. Let him sit in his corner performing acts of self-abuse…..
tomaz7, let’s not forget “baaaaa”
Trolls exist to be placed in a garden where creatures with a far greater intellect, dogs, may relieve themselves. Why do we respond to their constant blathering?
At the risk of appearing to defend Andrew’s rather injudicious remarks, it seems not quite accurate to refer to him as a “Leftard”, at least in as much as I understand that quaint term to refer to politically collectivist leanings. His colourful use of the epithets “bolshevik” and “crypto-commie” would seem more congruous with a libertarian or paleo-consevative outlook. Let’s test my theory. Ron Paul for President, Andrew?
Right on, Alberta Girl. If Clinton had dealt with the Al-Qaeda attacks on numerous fronts during his tenure as Pres., it’s quite possible 9/11 wouldn’t have happened.
Clinton blithely did nothing to defend the U.S. when its ships, military installations, and embassies were bombed on foreign soil, and the American and Canadian MSM gave him a pass: totally put on their rose-coloured glasses and let him off the hook.
Well, the chickens are coming home to roost, now, and guess who’s getting it in the jugular? The President following Beelee Cleenton. Clinton is a rapist, a sex addict (by his own admission), an adulterer, a liar/perjuror (while he was the chief law enforcement officer in the country), a defiler of youth (I have a daughter Monica Lewinsky’s age), and a smooth-talking schmoozer.
The lefties and their mouth piece, the lib/left MSM, all fell for his charm: Yeah, Billy is as charming as a poisonous sidewinder snake.
What does this say about his cheerleaders?
Two words and two words alone describe a demented troll like Andrew: RON. PAUL.
Enough said?
“The lefties and their mouth piece, the lib/left MSM, all fell for his charm: Yeah, Billy is as charming as a poisonous sidewinder snake.”
“What does this say about his cheerleaders?”

They done went an’ got themselves bit?
Yoop @ 9:40 a.m.: “They done went an’ got themselves bit?”
I sure wish they had…or…if they had, it didn’t have the effect it should have…
And remember, Clinton just might be first man in 2008. Of course his influence on his wife is now showing and making headlines. He has finally, after all these years got her to show cleavage. Notice that the msm, for 3 days, has been changing its tune re the war. Maybe she should have shown more cleavage before, and he would not have had so many flings.
Andrew…
your village is looking for you
Apparently they miss their idiot
Guys – the USS Ranger CV-61 (aka USS Top Gun – that’s where it was filmed) was retired in 1993. Ranger was in Forrestal-class carrier, the last class that was small enough to fit under the Lions Gate Bridge. The last time she came into Vancouver harbour was, I believe, 1990 or 1991. My grade 11 math teacher gave us a problem wherein we had to calculate the correct tidal time for her to enter. If I recall correctly, she had about 2 meters under her keel and 2 mneters between her topmost radar mast and the bridge.
Ranger was conventionally powered, though at that time it was widely believed that all capital ships (carriers and battleships) carried tactical nukes on board. Around that time (soon after Gulf War I) President George H.W. Bush publicly ordered that nukes not be caried on non-capital ships (detroyers and cruisers).
Although the US government does not comment on the presence or absence of nukes on carriers (there are no longer any battleships left in commission), in the mid nineties the Marine details on the carriers were cut in half. Since the Marines were in charge of guarding the nukes (and in fact guard all nukes for the Navy), and since none of their other duties were changed, it is a pretty safe bet that nukes are no longer carried on the carriers as a routine matter.
Methinks Andrew is yanking some chains. Calling someone a knuckledragging rightie whom bolsheviks vote for is just plain silly, and not worth a retort.
Back on topic here:
It continues to astound me that places that rely on visitors for their livelihoods do so much to offend great numbers of those visitors. It also astounds me that the residents of these cities are frequently those who want us to, for example, buy less gasoline but don’t realize that the rest of us have choices about how to spend our money.
From about thirty-five miles away, I get to watch San Francisco’s $10 billion annual tourism business slowly commit suicide as SF becomes even more unpleasant by the day.
Silicon: “I get to watch San Francisco’s $10 billion annual tourism business slowly commit suicide as SF becomes even more unpleasant by the day.”
…what, you don’t like watching the naked bike protest rides?
*barf*
justthinking…I know you meant it as a compliment to Kate(re:MSM) but…I’ll assume they have already noticed this blog, and I hope they continue to pretend they don’t notice.Otherwise Kate does not need MSM ‘attention’…
Andrew…do you dream about the possibilities that those Florida chads were just a bit ‘off the mark’ and the States would be presently in an ‘Enviro’ bubble….the terrorists would have their fun, but the US would be Green…
la la la….
wake up Andrew!
Love the “let ’em go to Vail” line from one of the Burghers.
Everybody has to look down on somebody, huh?
Hey Andrew: How is your gormleywatch.com website coming along ?? Oh , yea ! Its gone. Just another 6 to 8 weeks until the lawyers coming calling for you, shortly after the writ is dropped in Saskatchewan you shall be in the press. What a great story that is gonna make. Good Luck you are gonna need it.
tomax,
It isn’t naked biking that is the problem. it’s the ones who are naked.
You notice that the only people who want to shock you with their nakedness are never the ones you want to see naked?
Sad that it’s never the bud light girls…
Clinton blithely did nothing to defend the U.S. when its ships, military installations, and embassies were bombed on foreign soil
Well, back in ’98 he did order the bombing of some huts in Afghanistan and a pharmeceutical manufacturer in Sudan, which were unquestionably definitive strikes against the islamist menace.
You’ve got to know a little recent history about Telluride to really appreciate this little bubble of leftardism……….
In the 1970’s the place was an out of the way and underserviced little ski destination for hard core skiers and quite a few real “Ski Bums”.
After other Colorado ski areas hit the wall with over development investors who’d mad a lot of dough were on the prowl for opportunities.
First came refugees from the Vail/Aspen/Beaver Creek areas who were able to cash in on inflated real estate and buy cheap in Telluride. These folks probably split between looking for more profit and looking for the tranquil back water with little development. Then came the pro’s buying up everything in sight and pushing development of the ski resort.
The backlash to this comes from the long time locals and the few newcomers who don’t like the cost and crowding.
In addition to this crowd who are solidly Sierra Club, Greenpeace and PETA types a large number of the newbies are prog/libs in the San Francisco and L.A. mold.
So from the grassroots to the top of the economic pile in Telluride, from the Olympia/Coors set to the champagne swillers ….. it’s populated by granola chomping, birkenstock shod, hemp clothed dumbasses .
No surprise at all that the council would make a resolution like this!
“I can’t figure out is how to these people figure that driving out business will make them more prosperous?”
Just had a classic example in my town. The **** Area Lands Trust generally does great work in raising money to preserve good quality recreational areas. But the ideology of some of it’s members often gets in the way.
Sunday was their second annual ‘Music for the Mountain’ festival – raising money to keep a local mountain from being logged. They didn’t want the Budweiser beer company’s money because, well, the company also supports NASCAR! They also disapproved of the Bud Girls (probably because they’re good looking) despite the fact the Bud girls bring in guys who buy lot’s of (fund raising) beer.
Lastly, all the salmon served at the barbecue had to be WILD salmon, rather than farmed. Which is fine, unless the wild variety cost more.
Business and politics is not a good mix and most people in business easily recognize the fact. Perhaps that’s why there are so few successful socialist business people.
Looks like the mayor is paying for his act of stupididy now lets see a big boycott of SAN FRANCISCO,BERKELEY and SANTA CRUZ
This is outrageous. This is that invisible hand of the free market! When I see the word invisible in a sentence, I think invisible white privilege. That’s unfair! A strong central state would put a quick end to this sort of nonsense. We need more paperpushing and less free will, and we need it now. My desk is too small. I need you to buy me a credenza.
Have you noticed the disproportionate number of ski vacations that go to Alberta rather than Saskatchewan? What could cause this, other than racism! Only a racist could disagree with this.
I have proof of Global Warming. I can read a thermometer … it is right outside my window, beside the exhaust vent for my air conditioner. Ever hot day, it gets hotter! Aaaargh!
Fenris for Prime Minister!
One thing I’ve noticed is that the old, now-scorned attitude of “I don’t need your trade, sir” – one supposedly symptomatic of yokels – is being picked up by leftish governments.
Andrew: The following is taken from the Cox Report. It can be found at 3W.eagleforum.org/psr/1999/july99/psrjuly99.html
“Clinton has bombed six sovereign countries during the past year: Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania. None of those countries attacked or threatened us or our allies. For the first time in history, the United States was the aggressor in war, thus forfeiting our reputation as a peace-loving nation. For the first time in history, a President took us into war when we were not attacked or threatened, and where we have no discernable national interest.
Before the bombing started, 2,000 had been killed and 20,000 were refugees. After the bombing, 12,000 had been killed and the refugees numbered one million. Clinton’s bombing didn’t prove that bombing could win the war — our bombers never engaged in combat; they were just flying over an undefended country and dropping bombs like shooting ducks in a pond.”
Yes Andy: Your hero bombed six countries in one year!!!!! For the first time in history the US was the aggressor in war!!!!!
Let the sputtering begin
Andrew & big ugly bird: In case you are too lazy to take off the glasses here are a few more things your hero did:
Again from eagleforum:
“Clinton bombed a remote camp in Afghanistan and an aspirin factory in the Sudan just three days after his non-apology about the Monica scandal was such a public relations flop. He bombed Iraq the day before the House was scheduled to begin impeachment proceedings.”
“By using anti-population “dumb” bombs for “area bombing,” Clinton abandoned all pretense that his air strikes were aimed only at military targets. His Administration had to apologize 13 times for what he called “collateral damage,” including the bombing of a refugee convoy, a bus on a bridge, a marketplace, a hospital, a playground, a passenger train, and a sleeping refugee village. On June 27, NATO admitted that the our bombing did little damage to Milosevic’s military — our bombers were tricked into hitting “old wrecks,” and “a lot of dummy and deception targets.”
“Clinton’s bombing fractured our relations with the two most dangerous nations in the world: Russia and China. It’s not surprising that the Chinese don’t believe that the bombing of their embassy in Belgrade was a mistake. They think that blaming it on a two-year old map doesn’t ring true and, besides, nobody has been fired or punished.”
Andrew: now smoke another reefer, put the glasses back on & go on pretending this never happened.
What makes me most angry when I think of Bill Clitori…I mean, Clinton, aside from his ineptitude in the area of foreign affairs, was his taking gross advantage of Monica Lewinsky.
If she had been my daughter, I’d have tried to sue the pants off him–hey, that’s just an expression. “The pants off him” wouldn’t have been hard. Getting any money from the scumbag would have been far harder.
How anyone can defend a dirty old man–I don’t care how charismatic, handsome, devastatingly sexy the man is (he is, afterall, a husband and father)–I’ll never know or understand, except that it shows how far into the swamp of decadence we’ve hurtled.
At least President George Bush has been faithful to his wife, whatever his failings, and hasn’t used his position of power to manoeuvre very vulnerable twenty-somethings into extra-curricular activities in the Oval Office.
There are Americans who have this nasty kind of indiscretion in their sights, and who understand that whatever President George Bush’s failings, he’s at least a responsible and decent husband and father: no small feat in today’s crazy, mixed-up world.
Fenris,
Thanks for pointing out a great, great injustice. Why hasn’t PMSH declared all CUPE employees as a race or a nation? He is racist !!!!!
I heared that he also got the winter Olympics for Vancouver instead of OTTAWA !!!! because he he is racists against CUPE !!!!!
Theres a big difference between CORORADO and CALIFORNIA its becoase COLORADO is where the AIRFORCE ACCADEMY is and in COLORADO they are more conservative and TELIRYDE is village run by a council of village idiots THEY SHOULD VOTE THEIR MAYOR OFF THE ISLAND
“So from the grassroots to the top of the economic pile in Telluride, from the Olympia/Coors set to the champagne swillers ….. it’s populated by granola chomping, birkenstock shod, hemp clothed dumbasses .”
“No surprise at all that the council would make a resolution like this!”

The answer lies in the knowledge of the derivation of the name of the town: Telluride.
It’s in the water. They are all drinking it. 🙂
