I was going to say that GE could potentially be in a conflict of interest since it has GE Wind Energy projects and could buy credits from itself. However, I see that there is no “potential” about it.

Addendum to the above, due to my earlier imprecision:
Fat acts as a CO2 sink, because it releases CO2 as a byproduct of the glucose it’s catabolized into once metabolized. That glucose turns into C02 and H20 through being used for energy. So, dieting releases an amount of CO2, which has been “sunk” into the fat, that would otherwise not be there had the person not been dieting.
Now that I’ve gone from wisecrack to explication, I realize that I’ve just given the fat circuit a plausible excuse for government-paid liposuction. “Provided it’s disposed in a carbon-neutral way, of course!”
