My main point is that the Afghans are generally trying to take advantage of the opportunities the West has presented them with. Afghans don’t have much, but they express an interest in improving their lot. Unlike many Iraqis, Afghans don’t wallow in the sort of cultural and religious supremacism that causes most Arabs, the world over, to reflexively recoil at the mere notion that a Westerner might have a better way to do certain things. In many ways, Afghans remind me of the Kurds in Iraq, which is why I have been careful in my descriptions of Iraqi behavior in this piece to specify Arab Iraqis, rather than just Iraqis.

Afghanistan, never in their history had a democratic system. 98 percent of the country is fundamentalist Muslim, Christians continue to be persecuted by your “helpful”, government.
I agree with you that they express an interest in improving their lot, this is something shared by every country around the world.
Trying to compare the Kurds to Afghanistan is flawed by history and geography, im not going to give you a history lesson, but it’s apples and oranges. Its more than high time for us to evaluate our position and our goals.

Afghans have suffered so much over the last three decades that its very impressive to see them accepting and fighting for something resembling a stable society.
