    Hmmm, now I’m curious. According to the International Herald Tribune, Masatami Takimoto, Toyota’s executive vice president in charge of powertrain development, said that he expected hybrids will power “100 percent” of Toyota’s vehicles by 2020.
    No. I don*t think so! [ Sorry for lack of grace and respect.]
    I suggest, that that Toyota forecast is really just their WISH to keep selling their ice products with extra battery pack.

    In my youth (in which I include my early adulthood), I read a lot of philosophy. In those days, I picked up books of metaphysics with an excitement that I cannot now recapture, and that completely mystifies me, indeed seems to me faintly ridiculous. I still cannot quite make up my mind, however, whether or not I wasted my time. After all, I was a medical student, not someone training to be an intellectual. I doubt that philosophy made me a better person, let alone a better doctor, but I suppose it is possible that it made me a better writer, which is not the same thing at all.
    In those days, the Soviet Union loomed very large in all our imaginations. It was the ruffian on the stair of western civilisation, or a looming presence to the east. And that meant that, for anyone who wanted to understand the world, it appeared necessary to immerse himself in Marxism (actually, it was more important to read the history of the Russian intelligentsia from the time of Nicholas I than to read Marx), since the Soviet Union claimed to be a society founded on Marxist principles.
    Marxist writers were not famed for their clarity or elegance of exposition. Indeed, clarity was rather looked down upon by them, for the dialectical nature of the world was inherently hard to understand and therefore to express. For Marxists, clarity was simplification, or worse still vulgarisation. It was the handmaiden of false consciousness that misled the workers into not being revolutionaries.
    As with philosophy, I am not sure whether my efforts to understand Marxism were a complete waste of time, which I could and should have employed better. At any rate, when the Soviet Union collapsed, no thanks to my efforts to understand Marxism, I thought, ‘Well, at least I shall never have to struggle through any ideological nonsense again if I want to understand what is going on.’

He must go thru one to put in his private golf course on his property. Gotta save some supposed endangered species.     Get your news from multiple sources; local, national etc… There are fewer and fewer gatekeepers in the MSM everyday, but still plenty of interesting and diverse opinions.

    In Canada its a matter of restrictive refining capacity and the govewrnments and marketing cartells who gang up to keep refining capacity below demand.
    I see In ontraio there are only 2 refiners and both have been refised expansion permits as well as outside concerns who wanted to build new refining facilities…refused by the polis under the green banner…as they refued to suppliment demands with western refined gas…botton line is there are good government revenues in uncontrolled pump gouging and artificially constricted suppy.
    Don’t hod your breath for an honest investigation of the supply chain and consumer pricing by the gimmunt..they are part of the commodity revenue chain.

    Consider that the Calgary Sun , writer Licia Corbella and Calgary based MJ Ervin & Assts are all enjoying the high life and don*t want to be run out of Calgary town.
    Licia bases her whole story on the opinions of Michael Ervin. Any decent writer brings at least some informed support for a viewpoint. Licia offers none. Her whole outline consists of Michael Ervine opinion and nothing more.
    She knocks the findings of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives who suggest gasoline prices are 15% above the norm.
    National media across Canada have accepted and reported the Can. Cntr. Report finding of 15% above usual market level for gas today. Who do you trust? Sorry Licia, Michael Irvine and the Calgary Sun.
    I, Tony G & assts. of Courtenay have done a study, and we find that the approximate 15% overcharge for gasoline and diesel at the pumps will contribute nicely to a new 15 Billion$ refinery proposed for Alberta.
    No point risking existing surpluses considering the current trend to super gas efficient vehicles and hybrids and [ gasp, shudder], Plug in Electric Vehicles [BEVs]. = TG

    fascism >noun 1 an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government. 2 extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.
    Hidden agenda? How about economic integration with the US. The fact that the Cons are trying to stifle any debate that runs contrary to this goal is quite telling.

  48. According to the a.m. news, it seemed that the gov’t would move ahead with deporting Harkat. How quickly things change.
    Ottawa Citizen now reports (p.m.) that a Federal Court Judge has now adjudicated a stay of proceedings. Deportation is not going to happen.
    If it isn’t the Supreme Court selling off the farm, it’s the Federal Judiciary level that steps right in to do likewise. Law/Order/Security in this country is a joke and there is nothing the Federal Government can do about.
    Rather than worrying about how to increase the number of seats in the house of commons – much more important is to start a housecleaning within both the Supreme and Federal judiciary. It couldn’t be any worse if we were to elect all of the judges. Who knows – it might even get better.
