Is it time to dig up the tax free status rules against political advocacy for “charitable” organizations like the multi multi multi million dollar Suzuki Foundation.
I believe what I saw on TV this morning of Suzuki would be considered absolutely political. The fact that Suzuki gave Dion one of his Green Plans (Dion’s 6th or 7th or maybe 8th in a year) would also be considered political.
Driving a diesel bus across Canada emblazoned with the phrase “If I were Prime Minister” would more than suggest that Suzuki’s little bus tour was absolutely political.
Who has the links to the tax department on this to register some complaints?

Some general info on how to complain to Rev Canada. Every phone book has a section, at the front, with all govt of Canada depts. All the numbers are toll free. Anyone can call Rev Can and report someone who you think is cheating in one way or another. You don’t have to give your name, just a general explanation of your problem. Go to their web site and search for the publications on Charitable org, or go to the tax office in your area and pick up them up. It takes some time, but well worth it. I stopped an ex mla from making a bogus donation of land to a town, for a park, and he just wanted a receipt for about 5 times the value of the land. Very difficult to give ecological gifts, and when he discovered he would have to pay capital gains on said donation, he backed off. I belong to a reg charitable org and the hoops we jump thru to prove we do not advocate or get involved in politics are unbelievable. Phone your MP and complain. If even half of the blogger commentators would phone and complain about Suzuki they would have to investigate him, and possibly cause him to lose his charitable status. He has so many org that he can hide behind. Once the word gets out that he is funded by oil companies, some of whom have interests in the manufacture of the enviro-car or selling credits it might wake people up. What was his position on global cooling a few years ago.
