No surprise here

The British media’s hostility to Israel is well known, so this should be no surprise:

The National Union of Journalists has voted to boycott all Israeli goods for “aggression” in Palestinian territories.
After almost an hour of debate at today’s Annual Delegate’s Meeting in Birmingham, the conference voted 66 to 54 in favour of the ban.
The controversial clause was part of a motion proposed by James Gosling, of the Press and PR branch, and called for the union to “condemn the savage, pre-planned attack on Lebanon” last summer and the “slaughter of civilians in Gaza” over the last few years.
Paragraph four read: “That [this] ADM calls for a boycott of Israeli goods similar to those boycotts in the struggles against apartheid South Africa led by trade unions and the TUC to demand sanctions be imposed on Israel by the British government.”

It’s not surprising, but it is a sad spectacle. Surely journalists should know that Hizb’Allah initiated the attack on Israel last summer. But they aren’t interested in reporting the facts, evidently.
Update: In related news, Palestinian Jihad and the Tawheed Brigades announce that they have killed the BBC journalist Alan Johnston:

In the message, the group said the British and Palestinian governments were responsible for Johnston’s killing, and vowed to release a video of the execution.

Such charming people these journalists are trying to appease. I used to think the media would figure out how barbaric these Islamic terrorists are once they started killing journalists, but that just seems to make them try harder in their craven appeasement.

  1. They’re clearly trying to curry favour with those people who kidnapped one of their reporters a few weeks ago.

  2. What?…Clearly I’ve been disillusioned! I thought journalists were unbiased mediums of information and not social activists.

  3. wonder if them brits is still mad about them jewish squaters(not yet a country of israel then) killin brit troops left and right. wasnt it menachem begin who got his start in politics by bombing brit garrisons?

  4. its one thing to revise history when its hundreds of years old, but when it’s last year’s and Israel had received around 1500 incoming rockets before it commenced kicking arse. What do they think were stupid or something? Oh and Israel would have cleaned up the area if the world had not come grovelling on it’s knees for Israel to stop. I commend Israel because they knew stopping the defensive attack would make them look weak, but they did it anyhow. To their credit

  5. I find it hilarious the UK media is so openly anti-zionist….this seems to fly in the face of the “new left’s” contention that the British media ownership s concentrated in the hands of a few well connected zionists who use it to defame Palistine and promote Israeli aggression.
Oops! Chock up another moonbat left “conspiracy” on the growing heap of bat guano propagated by the anti-semitic left.

  6. The National Union of Journalist must have connections with the Liars Club they have a lot in common

  7. Keep this in perspective. 54 left wing journalists are going to buy their oranges from some other country. So what?
I looks important because they are in a business where they can publicize their great wisdom.
This is the left continuing to sing John Lennon’s “Imagine” and ‘feeling’ like they actually matter.

  8. wonder if them brits is still mad about them jewish squaters ….
3,000+ years of squatting. Some squat.

  9. Tangentially on topic, I hope:
Blair on Islam: Standard-Bearer of Tolerance
From the desk of The Brussels Journal on Wed, 2006-12-27 08:43
A quote from Tony Blair in Foreign Affairs, January/February 2007

To me, the most remarkable thing about the Koran is how progressive it is. I write with great humility as a member of another faith. As an outsider, the Koran strikes me as a reforming book, trying to return Judaism and Christianity to their origins, much as reformers attempted to do with the Christian church centuries later. The Koran is inclusive. It extols science and knowledge and abhors superstition. It is practical and far ahead of its time in attitudes toward marriage, women, and governance.
Under its guidance, the spread of Islam and its dominance over previously Christian or pagan lands were breathtaking. Over centuries, Islam founded an empire and led the world in discovery, art, and culture. The standard-bearers of tolerance in the early Middle Ages were far more likely to be found in Muslim lands than in Christian ones.

  10. What a sad irony that the Islamofascists have just announced that they have just killed British journalist Alan Johnston.
I’m sure that in the final few moments leading up to his beheading, however, that he took a great deal of comfort in knowing that his journalistic brothers and sisters made such a strong show of solidarity to his captors.

  11. Astounding…..and we are supposed to believe ANYTHING coming out of hournalists these days? They have cut their own throats by formalizing their bias.

  12. The “journalists” in question are clearly useful idiots… and some may even be the enemy within, deep undercover, propagating the lies our enemies want us to embrace. Of course it’s plausible. What other explanation is there, other than they’re stupid, guillible, insane (oh, wait… that’s the nature of useful idiots!)?

  13. if the terrorists haven’t figured out that the progressive tolerant folks are not a threat to their plans for Islamic world domination then I guess they have try harder to get that message out. they simply haven’t made it clear enough that they agree that the US is the great satan, chimpy mcBushhitlerburton is the only real terrorist, Christians started this whole thing with the crusades etc.

  14. Maybe the appropriate response is to boycott the British media – don’t quote or link to them online, don’t buy BBC DVDs etc

  15. Is it any wonder Britain is in crisis with so many of its Muslim immigrants with radical views, both new and home bred?
They need a new government to get back to what Britain has been all about over the centuries.
Much as we need to keep our government in power and with a Majority next time around to get back to the values this country was built on.
Our Western Democracies did not form and survive successfully by living with stone age laws and rules, we have evolved.

“Dead!?!?… but we asked really nicely”, say Brits.
“An online petition calling for the release of the BBC’s Gaza correspondent,
Alan Johnston, has now gathered more than 30,000 signatures.”

You wanna negotiate with serial-murdering sociopaths…
I suspect you’re gonna have to dig a little bit deeper.

  17. Considering so many liberals and members of the msm are sympathetic to the terrorists, it is urgent that PMSH get a majority next election.

  18. Actually I find the British Media and especially the BBC very pro Israel and friends thereof. But they the British media in general is not currently pro-Zionist for some reason?

  19. I’m sure they just killed that jounalist because of “tribalism” (channeling ET). I’m sure it had nothing do with Islam or jihad. I’m sure it has everything do with how Jews stole their land and are now occupiers and imperialists and aparteid wall builders and they humiliate the “ancient nation of Palestine” on a daily basis.

  20. When I think back to all the British journalists who wept over Jewish women and children, brave, pricipled reporters like…um….

  21. Real Conservative at April 15, 2007 3:30 PM
“Actually I find the British Media and especially the BBC very pro Israel”.
Are you quite serious? Have you not heard of the Beeb’s internal investigation on Arab bias which they refused to release even to freedom of information applicants. I read somewhere recently that the now-alleged-to-be-murdered Johnston was about to be fired or re-assigned by the BBC. Not sure why but I’m wondering if maybe ‘cos he was too blatantly jihadist even for the BBC.
BTW, are you also aware that the BBC has been supportive of the Islamic Courts Union in Somalia — STABILITY, you see. Arrogant, condescending toffee-nosed pricks.

  22. It is precisely issues like this that we have to hit home about. There are a lot of liberal Jews out there who would be willing to turn to the Conservatives if we can play up the pro-Israel angle and show how libs are anti-Israel. The Jews may be of no use to us in numbers, but they sure have all the money we can use to form a majority. And since they generally only care about Israel and anything to do with Jews, this is the ticket to ride. We must lobby for the strongest possibile Israel to fight the battle against the Arab swine. The best part is that at the end of it all, there will be no more Arabs or Jews but we’ll still have their money.

  23. This “Real Conservative” entity posts nothing but anti-Jew and anti-Israel screeds on this and other blogs. Don’t take it seriously.
Boz Hogg is newer and just as idiotic, although with a twist. It believes “Jews have all the money” and other nonsense, and so can be ignored as well.

  24. “I’m sure they just killed that jounalist because of “tribalism” (channeling ET). I’m sure it had nothing do with Islam or jihad. Sarcasm? Either way, I’m sure that’s their excuse for killing non-Israeli, non-combatant. I guess he was a spy, right?
I see, Palestinians are humiliated, and the people who visit more humiliation, misery and death on their people than anyone else (Islamists), are looking out for them.
BTW, what ancient nation of Palestine? Sorry, neither Israel nor Palestine existed as nation states for many generations before the partition in 1947.
The Arab world had a chance to accept Israel alongside the Palestinian (Jordanian, Egyptian) people, but immediately chose war.
This could have been solved a long time ago if the Arabs actually gave a crap about Palestinians; but, they don’t and have used them as pawns for a long time.

  25. Shamrock
    yes of course sarcasm
the “ancient nation of Palestine” and “Palestinian nationalism” are the biggest hoax – they could have had their state at least 3 times already, but they are not about state-building, they are about not allowing the existence of a state of former dhimmis
I don’t understand why some people cannot see this
