They’re on the other side…

Via James Taranto;
“Even we wouldn’t go so far as to equate Ned Lamont with America’s enemies, but it’s telling that the AP is doing so.”
More on the pork laden bill at Victory Caucus;
So it turns out that according to the Democratic leadership, funding for the Tree Assistance Program, sugar beets , and the Ewe Lamb Replacement and Retention Program are all “emergencies”. But there’s nothing urgent at all about actually getting funds to our soldiers on the battlefield.

Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the war the US had better stay the course. If they cut and run one more time they will have no one to count on the next time. Who in their right mind would get involved with an unreliable ally.
Kate: A few days ago you posted that the casualty rate had dropped substantially since the ‘surge’.
Unfortunately that doe not seem to be the case 45 days in. As the graph linked to below shows, the casualties are little different from the previous months. March has historically been on of the less violent months and April – May have been periods of big upswings. Let’s hope that the surge breaks that pattern.

The behaviour of the dems certainly follows the pattern they set in Vietnam as the latest vote demonstrates.
Let the enemy know when you are going home simply f@#%ing brilliant. I didn’t think even a lefty could be that anxious to LOOSE a conflict
Bush will veto this thing – and they will have to go back to the drawing board – what a waste of time – and American taxpayers money.
I was never a big Bush fan – when he first was elected – but I’ve noticed that he has never stuck a foot in his mouth – and he has always been clear on what he had to do and why (you don’t see that too often these days).
Bush takes responsibility – his job is maybe the toughest job in the world. Congress has just relinguished responsibility by running around and trying to gain silly little browny points – what a bunch of spoiled kids.

It is an inherent fault of democracy that the military and military decisions are made by politicians. And for the most part, politicians are not warriors. Decisions tend to be made to try and please all of the voters, all of the time and this is impossible. Some of America’s biggest battle blunders have been the result of political decisions. Remember the decision to control the Vietnam aerial campaign from Washington? The enemy knew exactly where to put their resources so they cannot be targeted. Gulf War 1 where the Iraqis to the south were promised protection if they turned on Sadam? These poor buggers were then let out to literally hang in the wind. Now we have a country so divided (led by those loyal and patriotic politicians) that the terrorists just have to wait until their victory date is published in the NYT.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe in democracy but from a military point of view, it has it’s problems. Being legislated to lose is one of them.
All the front running Dem candidates are pro neo-con war supporters…and will stay in the ME…don’t get your toga in a knot with the small dramas created for public consumption in the congress., there isn’t an iota od difference between parties at the directorship levels.
This was done to give the left voters reassurances the Dems are anti war so they are making a harmless little stage play here that can be vetoed by the “evil” neo-con pres… but when/if a CFR annointed Dem fills the Whitehouse, Dem caucus will be whipped into supporting expansion of the war to Iraq….you don’t need a crystal ball to see this. ME involvement is tied to the economy right now and no political insider will frig with that agenda.
The Democrats actuallt want to bring about defeat, just like in Vietnam
10 points for WLMR. He’s bang on about this dog and pony show. That’s why I hate politicians of all stripes.

Well I guess you could more accurately state that the yellow left media wants defeat…but at a political level it was never about winning or losing these little corporate wars, it’s about expanding the economy with borrowed money for war and “development” of “conflict areas”..Remember that the Dems have lead the way in declaring war historically…Truman in Korea, Johnston in Vietnam….”spreading democracy” is just a buzz word for “expanding the economy”….primarily by spending on military industrialization and technological sector expansion but the Neo-cons ( actually militant socialists) borrow to spend on installing social/corporate welfare systems in lands they occupy militarily.
The so-called “neo-cons” have a spending record on par with the most drunken socialist western regimes…and they have engaged in the worst socialist economic policies like expanding the money supply to float large war loans and trade deficits…bloody disaster-prone leftist economics …all tied to ME expansion and maintaining a military presense there…this is why there is so much bi-partisan agreement with the neo-cons and the Dems in congress…they do not fight over fundamentals and historical differences between GOP and Dems ( sending, welfare, military expansion)…when you see them pass so many military expendature and dangerous economic bills you know you are not dealing with a “conservative” regime in Washington…but 2 socialist parties of varying degrees.

Who in their right mind would have gotten involves in this war to begin with.
They made their own bed and after the outcry from the rest of the world before this illegal war began, they have nobody else to blame but themselves.

No, that would have been the Neocons who engineered the defeat. That’s what happen when when you go to war with doctored intel and no plans past the invasion.
The Neocons messed it up and now the Democrats have to make the hard choices to clean it up.
albatros, you must have one around your neck. Once a country sends it’s military to war, there can be only one plan; and that plan is VICTORY. Nothing else is possible, nothing will substitute. Whatever it takes; VICTORY. There can be no “backup plan”.
It’s Amateur Hour in the US House. That’s all there is to this.
Gunney99: “Once a country sends it’s (sic)military to war, there can be only one plan; and that plan is VICTORY.”
I thought victory was ours when we were told “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”. Are y’all telling me this thing’s still going on?
Kate, suggesting that the Democrats are on the other side isn’t doing anything to buoy your credibility.
“Once a country sends it’s military to war, there can be only one plan; and that plan is VICTORY”
Not in this case. The only thing the Bush regime had in mind was oil and profit for Haliburton.
AP is likely trying to insert the word insurgent into normal political speech so that instead of thinking that insurgent=terrorist/jihadi/Ba’athist scum people will think that insurgent=politician with anti-Bush/anti-Iraq war views. Sort of “rebranding” the word. Look for leftists to start calling themselves “non-violent insurgents” or “activist – insurgents” soon. Now that logic and critical thinking in education is dead, those who control language win every argument.
MEN ARE FROM MARS DEMACRATS ARE FROM SAN FRANCISCO
Yeah… that’s what the democrats are… “insurgents”.
You guys sound more like Nazis ever single day. I mean god forbid the Democrats actually hold George Bush’s feet to the fire for his blithering.
