O’Reilly and FOX cable network is hated by American Liberal MSM.
O’Reilly and FOX cable are hated in Canadian leftist MSM.
On his letters segment he frequently reads Canadian mail.
His positive mail from Canada far outweighs the negative ones.
Will Canada ever have a national conservative voice like O’Reilly?
Not likely, unless FOX decides Canada should have a bureau.
Don’t expect our current Canadian MSM to ever produce one.
Thats Right, I have to bring my barf bag every time I turn on the leftist Canadian News.
Joost is coming. So is JumpTV. All internet based. Soon the CBC, CTV, etc will be dead because they won’t be able to compete on the internet and they’ll have no CRTC saving them.
How about Don Cherry on the SDA network?
Moonbat meltdown. I’m looking forward to it.
This little “battle of wits” only shows the O’Reilly should stick to asking tough questions and stay away from the comedy.
BTW: It is a pity that the CRTC thinks Al Jesera is better for Canucks that Fox News.
Gotta love the shot in reference to Jon Stewart (but not really):
Colbert: The man [John Stewart] is a sexual predator. (To Bill): You wouldn’t know anything about that.
Cut to Bill, wondering whether he should say something about Middle Eastern food. Priceless.
I have an idea: the US should send both Stewart and Colbert over to Iraq to sort out the problems. Both of these jokers figure only they have the right answers about the war, so send them in!
That way, perhaps we’d get to see some real late-night comedy from their host networks.
“Will Canada ever have a national conservative voice like O’Reilly?”
I believe we have John Gormley, for better or worse. However, I suppose he’s not national. I suspect one hurdle is that Canadian politics are across the board more regionalized, fractionalized, or whatever word works best.
Well, at least we have a fat-a** blowhard like Limbaugh on 580 CFRA.
Hey Texas Canuck – we get Fox News. Did someone tell you that it was not allowed in Canada? They were mistaken. Have not seen an Al Jaz Channel in Canada yet, and honestly, I don’t think it can be ordered around here (although i cannot say for sure)
Fox is a very narrow focused network – I mean, the Stars and Stripes waving in the background? C’mom! That’s not exactly where I would tune to for an international perspective…as you said, a pity.
Joe: I don’t think either Stewart or Colbert thinks that problems in Iraq could be fixed by the prescence of Americans. Iraq is in turmoil because it has no effective government, police, or military. The US has lost the war there. If you doubt that, just wait ten years. Hell, wait 2 – you’ll see. I’m just happy that those troops will be coming home. They deserve it. There are very effective ways of protecting ‘freedom’ – this mess in Iraq not appear to be one of them.
Rumor: Do you know if Gormley still insists that there are WMDs in Iraq? I heard him yell at a caller once “JUST WAIT!” when asked why none had been found. I hope he woke up about that – seems like a nice enough guy when he’s not on the air.
Have an awesome weekend everyone.
Rumor – “I believe we have John Gormley, for better or worse. However, I suppose he’s not national.”
My point exactly!
It will not happen as long as the current suspects control TV and Cable in this country.
Too bad Conrad Black didn’t pay more attention to the conservative media needs of Canada instead of the path he chose.
Maybe Murdoch will pay attention and replicate in Canada what he has accomplished with FOX cable in the USA.
Jeff,
“Fox is a very narrow focused network – I mean, the Stars and Stripes waving in the background? C’mom! That’s not exactly where I would tune to for an international perspective…”
So what is wrong with an American flag on an American channel? Any better than the CBC’s map of Canada? Or CTV’s Maple leaf? your Anti-American is showing again. I am still perplexed that Canadians (if you are) are so uncomfortable at anyone who is patriotic. Who do you turn to for an international perspective?
Of all the news networks in North America (english speaking) I find Fox News to be less biased in any direction. Having said that I also look at several different sources for my information rather than taking any single MSM as gospel.
“The US has lost the war there.” – Jeff
I guess it depends on your point of view. They crushed Saddam’s army in record time. And Saddam is now dead. I’d say they won the war spectacularly. What is going on now is a civil war – which is in fact, a different war, regardless of cause.
I notice an attitude change there Jeff. Respect works. You have a good weekend as well.
A small c Conservative host is Roy Green.
He is on 9:00am till Noon.
As far as I’m concerend he IS the BEST. http://www.900chml.com/
When you plebes venerate Faux news, it reminds me just how marginal you all are.
I particularly enjoyed that patently forced amiable countenance O’Reilly maintained in the faint hope someone in the audience would purchase that tripe he produces. Falafels is expensive. As are the consequences…har.. har.
Of all the news networks in North America (english speaking) I find Fox News to be less biased in any direction.
Without question. Jane Hall, Ellis Henican, Greta Van Sustern, Rich Masters, Kirstin Powers, Juan Williams, Susan Estrich, Bob Beckel, Alan Colmes, Elaine Kamarck, Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, Mort Kondracke, Bill Hemmer, Dick Morris, Laura Schwartz, and Neil Gabler. All liberal hosts or regular contributors on the Fox News Channel. That’s 17 just off the top of my head. I might’ve missed some. No news channel offers the diversity of opinion that Fox does; none.
Can any liberal name a channel with 17 conservative hosts or regular contributors? The left despises Fox because the left often ends up looking like fools when they are forced to defend their hatemongering and their inane views. Do you know if Gormley still insists that there are WMDs in Iraq?
Er Jeff. Just because the Old Media refuses to report that over 500 WMD were found in Iraq, it doesn’t mean you can continue to chant your mantra. Fox has reported this numerous times: http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=over+500+WMD+found+in+Iraq&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
Counting down the minutes until Jeff insists that they were “old” WMD and that the ceasefire Saddam signed and the 17 UN resolutions allowed Saddam to have over 500 WMD… 😉
Jeff, re: “Joe: I don’t think either Stewart or Colbert thinks that problems in Iraq could be fixed by the prescence of Americans. Perhaps I am just getting too old to enjoy the likes of Stewart and Colbert. My impression of Stewart is that if he wasn’t slagging Bush and the current administration, Stewart would have nothing to offer on his program. It’s getting stale already – give it up Jon! And Colbert – well he’s about the looniest creature on any topic, most of time his stuff isn’t remotely funny. Just warped.
The US won the war against Saddam in Iraq, but that’s about all. And in the historical context of the entire middle east, that was/is just one small battle. How long does it take to win a war against a thousand years of tribal, ethnic, religious, barbaric insanity? Who knows. Probably another thousand years. Does that mean the rest of the world should stick it’s head in the sand and hope that the madness will just go away on its own? I don’t think so.
Colbert’s the funniest man on American television and I thought he was pretty even handed with O’Reilly a few gentle jibes but nothing evil natured. Bill on the other hand came off as a bit shrill when on his own show with his screaming protests over how Colbert pronounces his last name. The difference speaks volumes as to their character.
“I guess it depends on your point of view. They crushed Saddam’s army in record time. And Saddam is now dead. I’d say they won the war spectacularly. What is going on now is a civil war – which is in fact, a different war, regardless of cause.”
Discussing the Iraq War seems to be an excersize of rebranding (I think the war has been renamed something like 4 times) and semantics. It’s interesting to note that this “technicaly it’s two war’s meme” only started recently and isn’t actually used by the people prosecuting the war itself. Unfortunately what’s going on in Iraq can’t be solved by semantics.
“My impression of Stewart is that if he wasn’t slagging Bush and the current administration, Stewart would have nothing to offer on his program.”
He does slag the Democrats too even O’Rielly admits that. Bush just happens to be a very ripe target for satire.
“How long does it take to win a war against a thousand years of tribal, ethnic, religious, barbaric insanity? Who knows. Probably another thousand years.”
Maybe it’s time to rebrand the war again. The war hasn’t been renamed for a few months now so they’re overdue for a name change.
“I notice an attitude change there Jeff. Respect works. You have a good weekend as well.”
Thanks – I did have a good weekend, but change from what? I pop in to SDA about twice a year, and rarely comment. Perhaps you are confusing me with someone else.

WTF ??
I thought they treated each other pretty well. It would have been nice for their interviews to have been longer on both shows.
