A sharp-eyed reader asks “Where’s Joe’s dough?”
In early June, Joe Volpe promised to post a list of donors on his website monthly.
On June 9, Joe Volpe posted a link to this press release on the main page of his site, here.
While that press release can still be accessed by directly going to the old URL, I can’t find any place where it is still linked to by Volpe’s site. (Though I haven’t consumed a lot of caffine this morning.)
As well, it is a month later, and there isn’t a new list..
Screenshot of press release
Volpe’s Liberal leadership campaign claims to have signed 35,000 new members. All I can say about that is “YeeHaw! Go Joe Go!”
Tuesday morning update – well that didn’t take long! SDA gets results!

DB, believe whatever you wish. I recommend YOU open YOUR mind YOURSELF.
Surely, you haven’t eliminated all doubt as to the dogmas you’ve received in life? Seems you’re too convinced. That’s the problem with liberals: they’re so cocksure of their ideology they just don’t see the need to question it.
And of course you don’t see where I’m getting my information. Why? Because you don’t have your eyes open. Therefore, you’re not seeing the world as it really is, as opposed to how it’s supposed to be, according to your ideology, which is everyday demonstrating itself as dogmatic and arrogant and wrong.
Deny it all you want.
Good day.
CS,
With all due respect.
Confusion, will be your epitaph.
Speak for yourself, DB.
Look the Republicans have arrived. Oh sorry there TORIES.
Since you brought up party history let’s look at the tories.
Our current AG and Minister of Justice broke election laws when he was a mla.
Look that up!
What’s that about elections canada looking into the tory convention fees!
And of course the Tories would slander people base on there ethnicity and background
What’s that word I hear ……
Oh yes
Rrrrreffforrrrmmmm
Reformers, Tories, Conservatives
Its all the same. A wolf in sheeps clothing I hate to see what will happen when Harper tries to push his social conservative ideology through the house.
Yes, there are liberal blogger that won’t take crap from tories.
And if you want to contiune go to http://dliberal2005.blogspot.com
Davenport Liberal, I think you’ve just hit on the Liberal party campaign slogan. “Hell yes, we’re corrupt! But so are the other parties.”
Brilliant, just bloody brilliant! Makes me want to sign up and help the campaign.
Hmmm, Joe Volpe and all those new memberships . . .
A friend of mine, an altogether reliable source, was present at a very large—in the thousands—gathering of a moderate Muslim group (originally from Pakistan) at the International Centre this past weekend.
The Good News:
The people my friend met were largely well educated, prosperous, motivated Canadians. They were overwhelmingly family people—many arranged marriages, which seem to work as well as, or better than, ones based on romantic love—whose lives are centred on their families and mosque and community activities. All over the world, this group of Muslims gives generously to and serves the communities in which they live.
While my friend was at the conference, the hospitality provided was both personal and amazingly generous.
The imam of this group, which was founded in Pakistan in the late 1880s, said many positive and encouraging things:
Instead of castigating the West, he praised the British presence in Pakistan in the late 18th century, which provided the peace, order, and good government, which enabled his persecuted group of Muslims to survive and even prosper.
He quoted many passages from the Quran, depicting Islam as a religion of peace.
He said that the Quran stipulates that good Muslims must be loyal to their countries of habitation. (This is like the Christian injunction to “render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s”.)
The imam said unequivocally that those Muslims who deplore the countries in which they live, who disrespect their laws and conventions, and plot to harm both their infrastructure and citizens are not only NOT good Muslims, but lousy citizens, who should leave their adopted countries and go back to the countries from which they came.
He pointed out that it’s VERY bad manners to accept the hospitality and rights and freedoms of the West and then use them to attack the West.
So far, so good. Now:
The Bad News:
Here was a group of loyal Muslim Canadians; grateful for Canada’s British heritage; family people, where many of the women (even those who are very well educated) stay home to care for their children; traditionalists, not in favour of same-sex marriage; religious, not complimentary about the results of secularism; community minded, not fans of radical individualism; principled, having the highest standards for personal, family, and community integrity. The guests on the stage, including the guest of honour, smack in the centre of about 50 people on the stage, were a complete anomaly.
Who were the guests? Nearly all were politicians—mayors, MPPs and MPs, past and present. And ALL were overwhelmingly LIBERAL! A short list: Liberal MPs: Jean Augustine (retired), Mauril Belanger, Jim Karigiannis, John McCallum, Maria Minna, Alan Tonks; NDP MP: Peggy Nash (the one who saw that Gwyn Morgan was deep sixed). BTW, the three liberated ladies all wore head coverings the whole time. (Jane Pitfield—David Miller’s arch rival—was there too and wore a head covering intermittently.)
The guest of honour? Wait for it . . . JOE VOLPE!!
My friend said he’s never spent such a boring and disappointing 3 HOURS! One politician after another rose to speak platitudes. “Canadian Values” Joe was nauseating. And, for 3 hours, he sat at centre stage, smiling like the cat who’d swallowed the canary. (Well, if the canary is thousands of guaranteed votes from a group of people who apparently entirely disagree with most of one’s social engineering agenda and, presumably, one’s dishonest, even criminal, modus operandi, no wonder he’s smiling! No wonder my Conservative friend felt like crying! Perhaps the only good thing he noticed from all this is that there were no attacks on the Conservatives. No “scary SH” or anything like that. On the other hand, the Conservatives were completely off the radar. No mention of them AT ALL.)
How discouraging: Although the Liberal Party IS THE ANTITHESIS of everything this Muslim community apparently holds dear (see four paragraphs above), it’s the Liberals who have—BOUGHT–their votes.
(Were Conservative politicians invited? My friend and I don’t know. But, one way or another, they need to get out to these communities to make them aware of the huge disconnect between their values and the utter decrepitude of the Canadian Liberal Party and most of its politicians.)
Not a pretty picture, is it?
Reformers, Tories, Conservatives…It’s all the same. A wolf in sheeps clothing…”
Davenport Liberal,
Still on the hidden agenda thing, huh? That’s about as creative as your kind gets. (Yawn). Let’s add one more word to the description of Liberals: Boring.
And with regards to your list of supposed Conservative misdeeds – do you really want to pick a fight that’ll make you and your blog look absolutely assinine?
Run along now.
Paul
I give you a list of scandal in the conservative ranks and that’s the best you have damn I didn’t bring in the tories in sask. Not to mention why the tories are dead in bc.
You should be careful before the Harper PMO stops you from talking like his ministers.
Irwin
Two words
Bring it
Davenport Liberal,
We have a conservative government in BC. Don’t let the name confuse you. Do some research on BC politics. The leftist party previously in power is called the NDP, and like the federal liberals were corrupt.
Corruption, isn’t that a LIEBeral kinadian value?
Gee, I have a letter in my hand in which the current PM Stephen Harper suggests the previous Liberal administrations were “CORRUPT”. Given that we just had an election to see who was ‘fit for office’; I gather we as Canadians have our answer.
Maybe it is time the LIEBerals called in the septic service people as it is plain that the drainage field is plugged up.
Davenport Liberal, take the electoral constipation laxative and come up with something a little more substantive.
I wrote an e-mail out to Volpe on the 29th of june asking where to find his donor list. I have been away since the first of the month,of course I haven’t recieved a reply as of today. It is great to see the list here.Does anyone else think that it is strange that the vast majority if his contributors seem to be from recently out of country?
Really rich hearing the grieving liberals running around spouting “Canadian values”, something they would have no idea about given their performance for the past 13 years. Perhaps those who still support the liberal party should concentrate on the hi-jinx in their own party instead of scraping the bottom of the barrel for petty, meaningless crap. Pizza Joe is out there picking up the bucks and some deserved notoriety. Guess we might find the others in the running for the big booby prize in Toronto and Vancouver trolling for the immigrant and ethnic support with the usual patronizing and lies.

Lobbyists paid $3.3M despite ban, federal audit shows

Financial Post

OTTAWA – A government-commissioned audit released yesterday indicates more than a third of the companies granted loans by the much-maligned Technology Partnerships Canada scheme violated the terms of the financing.
Sixteen of the 46 companies examined were found to have paid lobbyists a total of $3.3-million in fees, the auditors said. Loan recipients are forbidden from paying lobbyists in exchange for help to secure TPC financing.
The payments ranged from $100,000 to $900,000, and the audit added this did not include any non-cash rewards, such as stock options, that may have been issued.
The identities of the loan violators were not revealed because of privacy legislation.
…
Since its inception in 1996, the TPC earned a reputation for secrecy, breaking promises and a lack of transparency. In theory, companies that received TPC money were supposed to repay their loans via royalties. But the government has collected back only $156-million of the $2.15-billion in funds dispersed.
Government policy dictates that a person cannot be paid a reward, such as a commission, for successfully closing a business transaction with the government. This is in an effort to discourage kickbacks or bribes. …- more

A very interesting account, Lookout. Could you ask your friend to give you and [me] the name of the moderate Imam?
Sounds very promising. TG
TG, the group is the Ahmadiyya movement. You may google it. My friend can’t remember the name of the imam. In fact, it may not have been an imam but the leader of this group. They have many mosqes, one of the main ones being in Maple. They are building another very large one in Brampton. They appear to be very family oriented and community minded.
Good luck in your research! Maybe post some of your findings.
TG: sounds good, family oriented and community minded as long as it goes beyond their own community with more integration into the society around their own “community”. With what’s been happening, trust has been lost and it’s not easy to regain, we want to trust but not at our own peril. Sadly that’s how it stands now with outcroppings from the preaching of hate from some enclaves, witness the 17 detainees charged recently. It’s a big hill to climb, let’s hope we make it.
