Andrew McCarthy on the media template;
Nonetheless, the rigorous media practice in Phase One is to suppress any reference to Islam, the single thread that runs through virtually all modern terrorism—from New York, to Virginia, to Bali, the Djerba, to Baghdad, to Mombassa, to Tel Aviv, to Nairobi, to Dar es Salaam, to Ankara, to Paris, to Riyadh, to Amman, to Sharm el-Sheikh, to Aden, to London, to Madrid, and, now, to Toronto.
Christie Blatchford strikes a similar note: “I drove back from yesterday’s news conference at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto in the northeastern part of the city, but honestly, I could have just as easily floated home in the sea of horse manure emanating from the building.”
“Imagine a 1938 story about Kristallnacht that spoke of ‘German youths’ representing ‘broad strata’ of society, and never once mentioning Hitler or National Socialism.”

Thailand: 600 dead in 2 years.
I did not know that.
While I appreciate that they have their hands full pursuing the Self-Fulfilling Prophesy Project in Iraq, one would think that our khaki-clad friends covering the international “militancy” beat might have mentioned it in passing.
Flash forward – May 31, 2006;
To date, more than 1,200 people have been killed since January 2004—a date that the media cites as the start of the insurgency (in reality it began in early 2001)—and several thousand more have been wounded. There have been three beheadings this year, bringing the total to 24.
You’d think those Thais would know better than to meddle in the Middle East.
Update – From the Department Of You Can’t Make This Stuff Up:
Before the raids came the sensitivity training: Tactical-squad Mounties learned how to properly handle Korans prior to arresting 17 terrorism suspects on the weekend.
And that’s not all. The RCMP also made sure there were clean prayer mats on hand for their suspects when they were sent to jail cells.
Then, after everything wrapped up, authorities met with a number of Muslim leaders to impress upon them that officers were going after specific individuals, not the community as a whole.
A reader writes – “I wonder if they also met with the families of the Bandidos after they arrested them.”
I look forward to the reports of how the Royal Canadian Sensitive Police will handle religious needs (his and hers and hers and hers towels?) if and when they ever decide to sweep in on the poligamist colony at Bountiful. Unless you know, “sensitvity” is a gesture extended only to those religious “communities as a whole” that exhibit a tendency to self-detonate.

I tried to use the Thai insurgency as an example to show the “babblers” over at rabble.ca how stupid the discussion of “root causes” was.
If they want to know the root cause of the Islamists hatred of us, here it is. We’re all dirty kuffar, and that gives them the right to subdue us, convert us, or kill us.
Until the lefties figure that out, we can beat them on their tinfoil covered heads all we want with solid arguments, and historical facts. To no avail.
Diversity sensitivity training is gay, in the less-homosexual, more perjorative sense. At its very conception it deems that the intractability of the targeted group — prurient racists, in this case — can be cured by the judicious application of inanities by the hapless.
Almost as ridiculous is the suggestion that violent Islamists can be cured of their macerating tendencies through the love and caring of post-60’s-era GTA Liberal-trainees, who look to the Islamists like evil rats.
Both of these things have been recently prescribed.
IT’s a tough spot. The bottom line is that the equivalent Christian extremists would be, er, off-in-the-woods — hnnkkkkk, excuse me — and denounced by the Church in the strongest terms. In strict, pointed comparison, Islamists of the lowest order seem to be the ones most capable of seizing the center of the defined faith — the collective moral law, with all it’s concomitant forces, and the public face.
By so easily usurping the moral law of more moderate Muslims, this extreme minority have become the de facto worldwide representatives for Islam. In light of this, the frustration of the majority of sane Muslims is understandable, as is the confusion of the fundamentally good-hearted, non-racist Canadian who is not a Muslim.

Re: Arrests In Terror Raid, June 3.
I was saddened to see immigrants and the children of immigrants accused of such disloyalty to the Crown (the living embodiment of the nation). As an immigrant myself, I am mystified by these actions. Unfortunately, the policy of multiculturalism is probably one of the root causes. Immigrants are encouraged to remember their tribalism by this policy and not to gain loyalty to our institutions and culture. It fosters division and otherness. I think it is great to remember your roots, but we are Canadians now and need to remember our loyalty to Queen and country.
Previous governments have discounted our institutions and our heritage, to the detriment of us all. My duty to this land was instilled in me by my parents, the Boy Scouts, my church and my teachers. This country has been profoundly good to me and to many immigrants. I am an extremely grateful and loyal Canadian. I hope the new government will re-evaluate the culture of division and encourage loyalty to this great land.
Roy Eappen, Montreal”
Perhaps I am naive, but I’ve long thought that immigrants from nontraditional nations should hold an annual “Canada Appreciation Day” of some sort. Speaking as a non-ethnic it is fatiguing to be told day after day how terribly racist and prejudicial we Canadians are; frankly, it leaves me with the impression that they don’t like us very much. So it would benefit everyone if the ethnic communities showed a little gratitude, consideration, and respect for Johnny Canuck and his forefathers who built such a great nation.

No Risk to Ottawa: City Officials
Josh Pringle
Tuesday, June 6, 2006
City of Ottawa officials say there was no risk to the Capital.
Manager of Emergency Management John Ash told the Ottawa Sun that no information has been provided to suggest Ottawa was the target of an alleged terror plot.
17 suspects were arrested last Friday on terrorism-related charges.
Ash says if there is an imminent risk, city officials will be made aware.
Published reports suggest the Parliament Buildings were among the alleged targets.
Mayor Bob Chairelli says Police and Security Agencies are prepared to prevent a potential terrorist strike on the Capital.
Chiarelli says Police are watching Ottawa and if concerns become serious they will act.

We should try to keep this all in perspective.
There is a hate philosophy out there which has joined itself to a religion.
Now the disaffected, impressionable and naive are prone to yet another snake oil salesman selling the latest brand of hate.
In North America, since 9/11 we have amended our laws to make it easier to catch, detain and convict such people who even look like they are planning violence.
A year ago the Washington Post did an investigative article looking to see how many convictions there were. They found 39, I think there has been one since then. We have now 17 accused. That means in 5 years out of a population of about 330 million we have found 57 or so “terrorists”. As of a year ago in the US, the average prison sentence was 11 months. That indicates how trivial many of the “terrorist” convictions were. Some were apparently caught changing licence plates, that sort of thing.
Now I know, you think there are millions more out there just aching to do us in. The problem is the facts don’t support it.
So lets try and keep this in perspective shall we? Criminals are out there, they are up to 1% of the population. Out of that 1% a small number are terrorist criminals. We must remain vigilant that’s why we spend so much on security. The security forces are doing a great job, so our investment in them has paid dividends. That’s great, all things are unfolding as they should.
And because of the blatant political incorrectness in the media, I pick up the paper this morning in a nice mid-western City and see Canada is now the threat! Damn the MSM. In 3 days this has morphed into a Knight Ridder story about how the US needs to fear the northern border! So there is it. The effect of soft peddling the Islamic facism in our native land is morphing to anti-Canadian drivel. I can’t provide the link yet but it is on the front page of the Des Moines Register. I’ll contact the embassy in DC to tell them to speak plainly rather than have the MSM filter.

Experts? a hateful word. Spanish experts? Si. You want expert? Expert Islamist terrorist murderers. Poor optics, huh?
No mention of body parts of Canadian infidels being respected. This is madness, madness. What have we wrought? Politically correct, multicultural madness. …
Optics was crucial. The RCMP had to entertain all kinds of potential scenarios, such as, what if a target tried to blow himself up during the course of an arrest?
There is a precedent for this: Al-Qaeda suspects in the deadly Madrid train bombings blew themselves up in an apartment rather than let themselves be caught by police.
So the RCMP decided to consult the experts. “They brought in Spanish police, because of what happened in Madrid, when the guys blew themselves up and everything,” one source said.
“They brought in the Spaniards to sort of get their take on what they did wrong and what they could have done right.” g&m via nealenews.com
Here’s a good one in the Regina Leader Post today, “Police investigators have suggested this group posed an imminent threat to national security, but there are questions being raised about how dangerous the group could have been if CSIS had known about them and was watching them so closely for so long.” (http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/story.html?id=4d219f8f-bd8f-4089-99c2-1441b6f44a51)
Huh?! So let me get this straight, because police were watching this group plot and organize for soooo long they weren’t really a threat? Only if the plotting and organizing is immediate can police act? Is that the subtext of this article? The lengths journalists will go to downplay this group’s activities and intent in order to not offend the “muslim community” is extraordinary and dangerous.
How to handle body parts of a terrorist who blows himself or herself up ??

Farmer Charged
Norman Jack
Tuesday, June 6, 2006
A Spencerville farmer, who’s farm was the scene of a tense standoff last March, has been charged with several offenses under the Farm Products Marketing Act.
OPP officers and inspectors from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency were blocked by Shawn Carmichael and supporters from the Ontario Landowners Association when they tried to seize thousands of chickens. At one point, an OPP officer was forced back from the farm entrance by a protester driving a front-end loader.
Carmichael is charged with unlawful marketing of eggs and refusing to pay licensing and quota fees.
Officials say that, with the number of chickens kept on Carmichael’s farm, quota fees would be as high as $1.5-million. cfra.com more…
Valley farmers defy police in chicken-and-egg standoff
Birds die, officer shoved by front-end loader
Vito Pilieci, with files from Zev Singer, The Ottawa Citizen
Published: Friday, March 24, 2006
An eight-hour standoff between a farming group and the Ontario Provincial Police over confiscated chickens and eggs, ended with the farmers pushing their way through police barricades and taking back the goods.
Under court warrants obtained by the Canada Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Ontario Egg Producers, dozens of officials descended on a Spencerville farm yesterday morning to remove thousands of chickens and eggs.
The two agencies allege that Shawn Carmichael, owner of the Carmichael Poultry Farm at 317 County Rd. 21, had been selling eggs that were either not graded or improperly graded, and that he lacked proper registration for his farm. The situation turned into a standoff between the OPP and members of the Lanark Landowners Association, a civil disobedience group based in the Ottawa Valley. At one point, a farmer pushed a police officer with a front-end loader, and almost dropped its bucket on the officer’s head.
Hundreds of chickens were also injured and killed in the incident, after they spent hours jammed into cages while the two sides argued.
The eventful day began at 9 a.m., when several vehicles rolled onto the Carmichael farm. Officials from the Egg Producers and the CFIA presented Mr. Carmichael with a warrant and ordered him not to leave the property. They were accompanied by OPP officers.
Mr. Carmichael said the officials stormed through his home, entering his children’s bedrooms and pulling apart drawers and filing cabinets looking for documentation, such as client lists and tax returns, in their search for evidence about his egg farm.
According to Mr. Carmichael, the more than 30 people from the two organizations then raided his chicken coop, taking thousands of the birds and jamming them into tiny cages on wheels like “sardines.”
When he asked for a lawyer, Mr. Carmichael said police put him in touch with a Legal Aid counsellor who informed him that due to the warrants the organizations had obtained, there was nothing he could do.
Mr. Carmichael then phoned some of his friends from the Lanark Landowners Association. Mr. Carmichael said an official with the CFIA overheard his call to the farming group and ordered others to pack the trucks and vacate the farm quickly.
“They were scattering like flies,” said Mr. Carmichael. “I said, ‘there is no way I am letting you leave here.'”
He drove his tractor down to the end of his driveway, blocking the entrance. When asked by an OPP officer to move the tractor, Mr. Carmichael refused, saying, “go ahead and arrest me.”
He was not arrested.
Farmers soon began to arrive on the scene, converging at the end of Mr. Carmichael’s driveway in trucks, tractors and motor homes. They were carrying placards with a bright red message: “Back off government. This is our land.”
Over the next several hours the standoff grew heated, with about 40 farmers shouting at the OPP officers who were trying enforce the warrants. …

Jim Travers of the Star gets most of this one right, “National interest must come first: Canada neglects to reinforce essential values in its pursuit of multicultural tolerance”:
Excerpts:
“That’s pivotal because this is a domestic problem with offshore roots, not just a foreign problem manifesting itself at home. If the allegations are true and the plot more than a fantasy that became a conspiracy, we are under attack from ourselves…
In pursuing multicultural tolerance, Canada has been negligent in reinforcing essential, common-denominator values. Most of those are self-evident: human rights, the rule of law and the understanding that one person’s freedom ends where another’s begins.
These are all-defining and remain easily powerful enough to make this country a magnet. But what’s slipped through cracks is that being Canadian requires a commitment passed from generation to generation.
Stripped bare of rhetoric and religion, politics and ethnicity, citizenship requires putting the national interest first.
To their shame and often for partisan advantage, politicians have been blinking when influential communities and interest groups fall below the threshold of what it means to hold a share in a nation of 33 million. As this weekend’s events compellingly argue, that blindness is not sustainable.
In celebrating its differences, Canada must also protect the values that map the perimeter of its shared and evolving space. Along with all levels of government, every community leader, group and ethnic fragment shares responsibility for deciding what is acceptable and exposing what won’t be tolerated.
Canada chose long ago to be the world in one place and, happily, that choice is not reversible. But the tougher decisions remain ahead for a country that must forge cohesion as immigration continues to rise and becomes even more diverse.”

And Rondi Adamson profiles the usual suspects in the Christian Science Monitor, “Moderate Western Muslims, speak up! Do we really need social research to condemn Islamofacism?”
Excerpt:
‘Aly Hindy, a high-profile imam in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, called the arrests “an attack on the Muslim community.” He went on to say that, “We are abusing our boys for the sake of pleasing George Bush.” Rather than speaking out against extremism, or entertaining the notion that perhaps his country’s security forces know what they’re doing, Hindy called the charges against the men “home-grown baloney.”
Even moderate Canadian Muslim groups, willing to show faith in Canada’s justice system, are mitigating their statements. The Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC) praised the work of Canada’s spy agency and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. But then they scolded the Canadian government for not funding “academic research to diagnose this serious social problem and provide scientific solutions to it.” A scientific solution to Islamofascism? Bring it on.
The group also chastised Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper for portraying events “as a battle between ‘us’ and ‘them.’ ” Following the arrests, Mr. Harper stated that “we are a target because of who we are. And how we live.” One wonders – do the members of the CIC not consider themselves part of the “we” Harper referred to, when he spoke of Canadians? If so, that is indeed revealing.
The Muslim Canadian Congress fared only a tad bit better. They praised the police, and expressed dismay that members of their community might be guilty as charged. And then they managed to blame President Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and even Harper for the fact that any such terror cells might exist. So far, only the Council on American-Islamic Relations Canada (CAIR-CAN) has managed to issue a condemnation of terror, and praise of the police, without tacking on a “but,” a “Bush,” or a “Canadian troops in Afghanistan.”
I was happily surprised at CAIR-CAN’s press release. I shouldn’t have been. We must expect that Western Muslims will wholeheartedly condemn Islamofascism, without any conditions placed on that condemnation. Without that, we may reach a point of divisions too deep to mend.”

Most Canadians who write and speak on this subject bend over backwards to avoid blaming the Muslim community in general, and I agree that they should. It gets really difficult, though, when spokespersons from the Muslim communities choose to ignore the obvious, i.e., that something/someone within their community is preaching intolerance and violence.
Last night I watched a panel discussion on TV Ontario’s Studio 2. Panelists were Zafar Bangash,Irshad Manji,Tarek Fatah and the Iman Ali Hindy from Scarborough’s Salaheddin Islamic Centre
One of the panelists, who claimed to know nine of the alleged terrorists arrested, said words to the effect that the affair was mainly a set-up by Canadian authorities. He allowed that there might have been some wrongdoing, but for the most part the charges were trumped up. Another of the panelists seemed to hold similar beliefs. This I found extraordinary.
There were other disturbing comments about Islam not making the distinction between church and state that Canadians do. And that Muslims are taught to put religious law ahead of Canadian law.
There is something very wrong going here, and those who could make a significant difference are in denial.
But there is a scientific solution to Islamofascism.
It’s called “kinetic energy.”

He prayed regularly at work and attended the mosque on Fridays….On a couple of occasions, he showed uncharacteristic intolerance out of line with his normally easy going manner. But his behaviour was not unusual enough to cause concern….
….Tanweer is said to have taken religion seriously from an early age but showed no signs of extremism….thereafter, he appeared to devote the majority of his time to religious study and observance including at a religious school in Dewsbury. But those around him observed no sign at any stage that strict religious observance had turned to extremism…
….Hussain undertook a Hajj visit to Saudi Arabia with his family early in 2002. After this, he began wearing traditional clothing and a prayer cap and would wear white on Fridays. Some time after this it was noticed that he had written ‘Al Qaida No Limits’ on his RE schoolbook….
….A common factor for all 3…was the social life around the mosques, youth clubs, gyms and Islamic bookshop in Beeston…
….Khan was a leading figure here. He is described by many in the area as a mentor, who young people naturally looked up to…

Uh, I would say the trust between the Muslim communities in Western countries and the rest of the population was broken a long time ago (9-11, Madrid, London, Bali). And it wasn’t the non-muslim’s that broke it.
The Muslim community needs to be a little more proactive in stopping homegrown terrorists. They need to be a little more pro-active in supporting and espousing the values of the Western countries they are now living in.

Security on Parliament much too lax, says MP
James Gordon
CanWest News Service; Ottawa Citizen
Tuesday, June 06, 2006
OTTAWA – Lax physical security and inadequate screening of staffers on Parliament Hill must be improved before a catastrophic event occurs, says an MP who was blocks from the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001.
Ottawa South MP David McGuinty said Monday he is continually shocked by how little security screening there is at his place of work.
The Liberal MP called the prime minister’s national security adviser in 2004 to express those concerns, but said they were brushed off and forgotten immediately.
McGuinty argued the weekend arrests of 17 people on terrorism charges accompanied by news reports alleging the Parliament Buildings were among potential bombing targets are a ”major, major wakeup call” that should provide enough urgency to shore up weaknesses immediately.
”I still am surprised that our staff is not security checked. I still am surprised at some of the lax security. I still am surprised you’re not screened every time you walk into the buildings,” he said in an interview. ”I mean, this is common practice in Washington.”
In addition, he pointed out, there is little in place to prevent someone from driving a truck filled with ammonium nitrate up to the Peace Tower and detonating it.
In spite of somewhat heightened security since 9/11, the metal detectors, X-ray scanners and RCMP checkpoints have been breached several times since. At least two cars got past RCMP patrol cars in 2003, despite restrictions on unauthorized vehicles.
In one case, a woman used an entrance reserved for MPs and senators to drive to the base of the Peace Tower. A few months earlier, a man drove through a chain barrier with a car carrying two gasoline containers.
There were no visible security improvements on Parliament Hill on Monday as federal politicians, staffers and journalists went about their business. Numerous roads leading up to the Centre Block were either open, or blocked by a handful of rickety metal partitions.
”Anybody who assumes that Parliament is not a potential target is not thinking straight,” McGuinty said. ”This is the democratic centre of the country, so it is very concerning.”
The RCMP, which is responsible for security outside the buildings, did not return a request for comment Monday.
The House of Commons handles interior security. Spokeswoman Heather Bradley said although not all Hill staffers are security cleared by CSIS and the RCMP, there are various protocols for background checks ”when it’s appropriate to do them.”
Bradley wouldn’t reveal under what circumstances people are flagged for further review, but said MPs can have their staff checked if they want. She added security concerns precluded her from discussing how many screenings are done each year.
Documents obtained by CanWest News Service give some idea, however.

A history of gun smuggling
2 accused already jailed
By NATALIE PONA, TORONTO SUN
Two of the 17 terror suspects named in Friday’s bust made frequent trips to the U.S. before they were caught trying to smuggle guns and ammunition into Canada last summer.
Mohammed Dirie, 22, and Yasim Abdi Mohamed, 24, are alleged to have been involved in the importing of three guns and 182 rounds of ammunition “for the purpose of facilitating or carrying out a terrorist activity” or for the purpose of helping someone else carry out a terrorist activity.
Fahim Ahmad, 21, is also charged in connection with the weapons. Ahmad allegedly rented a car for the pair, said Aly Hindy, an imam at the Salaheddin Islamic Centre. Hindy said he went to police after Ahmad allegedly confessed to him.
Two of the men, Dirie and Mohamed, were convicted of gun smuggling after their arrest in Fort Erie in August 2005, but no terror-related charges were laid until now.
The three men are among 12 adults and five youth accused of plotting a terror attack in southern Ontario.
National Parole Board (NPB) decision documents show the terror suspects made many trips to the U.S.
Dirie told parole officials he had gone to Buffalo “frequently over a few months.”

Only if the plotting and organizing is immediate can police act? Is that the subtext of this article? The lengths journalists will go to downplay this group’s activities and intent in order to not offend the “muslim community” is extraordinary and dangerous.”
Well obviously what they were trying to say is that had they been a real immediate threat they wouldn’t have waited so long to arrest them.
So, the suspects get clean prayer mats, but Christians can’t have the Nativity Scene, or sing Christmas songs, or have the crucifix in public. Time for all those arrested for any crime to demand a symbol of their religion in their cells. Charter Rights, freedom of religion etc. Rosaries for all those wanting them while in jail. What has happened to Canada. One lawyer today made reference to Crawford Texas and Washington. Then he blasted the P.M. for his remarks. He said he was unaware of the supposed stmts of his client that he wanted to behead the P.M. Seems all muslim terrorists go to mosques and pray. This appears dangerous for their minds so lets ban the mosques, and suspect any muslim attending one or praying. Guitte is going to jail. Praying in a mosque leads to terrorism causing death. Smoking causes cancer and death. Smoking is banned but terrorism is ignored by the media. To show your disdain for this, lets all start wearning or showing a symbol of our religion in public and government offices or demanding same for anyone going to jail for whatever. Gang members can say their knives are a religious necessity.
So it would benefit everyone if the ethnic communities showed a little gratitude, consideration, and respect for Johnny Canuck and his forefathers who built such a great nation.

well said. I agree.
Finally, someone in the media I agree with…
“So what can we do to protect western democracy?
In Canada, we already started when we elected Stephen Harper prime minister, and when Harper made Stockwell Day public safety minister.
None of the fawning attitudes of former — and failed — prime ministers Jean Chretien or Paul Martin now.
In the U.S., President George W. Bush is a beacon of hope and courage compared to the likes of Al Gore or John Kerry.
In Britain, Tony Blair is a man of steel, as is Australia’s John Howard. Angela Merkel is a far more stalwart leader in Germany than was Gerhard Schroeder.”

The 1 silver lining in this dark cloud is that fellow Muslims turned these terrorists in and others had already denounced their 42 year old inciter.
Makes me proud to be a Canadian that Canada seems to be the only place in this crazy world where peace and love Muslims have risen up against the rot in their own backyard.
Note to the RCSTMP; if you ever arrest me please make sure there’s a big bag of weed in my cell (it’s part of my religion).
Remember,the # 1 rule(lie) of political correctness in Canada:
Only whites are capable of racism and bigotry!
Bob, I have to agree with you. The problem we have today is that the new immigrants coming into this country are given everything that they require to assist them in assimilation, yet they demand more. Welfare cheques upon arriving, ESL programs, Medicare, assisted housing, etc., etc., etc. The First Nations that greeted the first European immigrants to this continent had no domestic animals, save the dog, they had not developed any metalurgical knowledge, they had not developed the wheel. The First Europeans catipulted the First Nation people through 10,000 years of development. there was no gratatude for this. We European immigrants are still paying for this. Now after carving out a society in this wilderness in little over 500 years, a society that is at this point the pinnacle of man’s endeavor, we are critized because we, we, haven’t done enough for the rest of the world. We are at fault for all the percieved injustices that plague the “undeveloped” third world countries. Well I’m getting a little sick of this attitude that is being forced on us by the ‘left’ members of our society and the rest of the ‘third’ world countries. My forefathers came to this country to escape religious persecution, to escape servitude, to escape discrimination and we don’t recognize the fact that these ‘new’ immigrants are bringing these ‘Old’ world vices with them under the pretext that it is part of their culture. Our ‘left’ leaning cousins have aided and abbetted this importation under the guise of tolerance and political correctness. If we don’t all wake up we will be taking a step back in time, a 500 to 1000 year step back. The ‘johnny come latelys’ should not try and dictate changes to our society, we have evolved quite nicely here in North America, compared to the rest of the world, we seem to have a system that works. It may not be perfect but it appeals to me more than any other system in the world.
“Our officers need to be respectful,” said RCMP spokeswoman Corporal Michele Paradis.
Oh, yes indeed.
………when confronting slimey Islamofascist gutblowers found engaged in activities leading to the possible deaths of hundreds, thousands of innocent civilians. Got it.
Freshly laundered prayer rugs and an outreach program to the offended community!!! Got it.
Optics a must, the suspect’s quirky 72 virgin option. Got it.
No insight by the RCMP that the real police, the pc police, have morphed them into the ludicrous roles of social workers, imam assistants and outreach counselors. Got it.
Carrying this pc exercise to it’s logical end, has the RCMP budgeted for the class action law suits that are sure to follow? Your garden variety pimps, drug dealers, gang bangers, stick up artists from other ethnic minorities are getting a raw deal. Sensitivity being everything.
Sensitivity training is not new to Canada. Police frequently received sensitivity training in Moose Jaw back in the Capone heyday. They were told to make sure that the mayor and premier were not rounded up in any speakeasy raids. That was sarcastic humour for those of the left persuasion.
Really, this crap is way over the top. Do they serve vegan meals in prison for PETA protestors they lock up? Are druids given a tree? Once more Canada looks like a boob in the world community.
CBC Radio reporter Dave Seglunds (sp?) has just read out the charges (1230 June 06)against one of the accused including a list of potential targets. Not surprisingly the parliament buildings and politicians were a target, but a little surprising was that the main broadcast centre of the CBC was included in the list. Hmm…
I wonder if the folks at the mother corp will figure out that being apologists for ‘insurgents’ and bending over backwards not to use the word ‘muslim’ in identifying terrorists has done nothing to protect them from the Jihadi’s?
A Harper review
Harper has had a rough introduction as PM, with a number of contentious events/issues arising. How do you think he’s coped/handled the role as leader of our nation? Submit
Cops: Terror suspect wanted to behead PM [Harper]
BRAMPTON, Ont. (CP) – One of the suspects in a Toronto [Muslim Islamist] terror plot is accused of wanting to behead Canada’s prime minister, his [the Muslim Islamist terrorist’s] lawyer said Tuesday

As an American , I know there are conservative Canadians that think like I do.
This ” Religion of Peace ” has shown us nothing but a ” Culture of Violence .”
But , it simply amazes me how the MSM and the Un-Empeachable Anonymous Political Sources bend over backwards to try and not associate the bad guys with any Muslim Sect , or Muslim Country.
I would have to agree with Negaponte on this one; if it walks like a Islamic Terrorist Savage and talks like a Islamic Terrorist Savage , then trust me , it’s a Islamic Terrorist Savage.
On another note: Muslims are 22% of the World’s Population and are out-breeding all other races two-fold. We must remember that in 700 A.D. the Muslims started God War I and lost. In 1400 A.D. the Muslims re-grouped and started God War II with the same results. Now , we are closing in on 2100 and this 700 year Muslim Itch is under way again. And , as one Poster noted , we must keep this in perspective , but if anyone doesn’t think the Muslims are after World Domination you may want to re-think that.
My disabled grandson, and all others, must have a security check to volunteer at a local hospital. All care-givers must have a security check, leaders of boy scouts etc must have a security check. I had one when I worked in an office yrs ago at the cdn border. But, no checks for personell at the parliament bldgs. Time for major changes, and to hell with all the human rights wackos. Nancy Wilson was very shocked to report the cbc bldg was a possible target. The beheading of our PM also registered shock. Will all those apologist leftists wake up. I doubt it. Notice no more mosques have been hit, they must have learned we think they did it themselves to get sympathy. Who is paying the lawyers. Again, praying by young muslims in mosques causes terror, time to ban it.
Does the Koran authorize the imprisonement of Islamic terrorists?
The conduct of the police is very insensitive if you ask me.
Plans to behead our Prime Minister! This is a crime against our country! What are we doing? Providing clean prayer mats? Suspects want the right to pray together? What the h@ll is going on here? Plans to blow up CBC??? Won’t touch that one. We will now be paying for bodyguards for our elite reporters???
A part of cultural sensitivity to current muslim culture- give them a stick of dynamite in their padded room.
Don’t let them hide behind “God and culture” …their “God and culture ” have nothing to do with crimes against humanity.
Lorraine:
Very well said!!!I get fed up with “prison conversions” by prisoners, being used to mitigate there crimes. If they where truely repentant they would do the time as penance, if nothing else.
This is all about them using this situation for press coverage & nothing to do with there “culture & religion”. These demands allow them to spread there poisen & look like martyers. When will the MSM stop pandering to these phycopaths & there obvious ploys?
Never i expect!!
As well by forcing there demands, with us bowing & scaping to do so. They declare by showing the Muslim world . That the West will even take a posture of Dhimitude upon those Islamofacists, with there requests. After caught ploting to kill the Infidels. It makes us look weak, silly, insane . If not out right fools.
It reinforces the idea that None Muslims are worth half of a real Muslim. Who else gets this kind of treatment in Jail? Even ther arrest is a victory by us giving in to ther demands. Its sickining
This political correctness is ridiculous. There is a problem in the Muslim community and that is that there are groups who interpret the Koran differently from mainstream Muslims. The radicals are the problem and they need to be stopped!
The muslim community needs to stop hiding and stand up and take action against the radicals, expose them for who and what they are, terrorists!Until they act they will be seen as giving tacit support for the extremists, which will result in the persucution they are afraid of.I can appreciate that it is not easy to do, but to coin JFK Ask not what your country can for you but what can you do for your country!
