Thoughts on Flight 93.
“Those who have been following the pattern of US casualties will have noted that a whole bunch of extra casualties are coming in from MND-Baghdad. Of the 40 combat deaths this month, 12 involve Multinational Division, Baghdad. The mention of a possible “Battle of Baghdad” will not surprise those following recent posts on the Belmont Club.”
A number of readers have emailed about the complicity of reporters in helping Olivia Chow push the NDP child care agenda at a news conference last week. Stephen Taylor has the has the video.

Quite a few casualties in Al Anbar province as well.
As the NY TImes wrote (and your own BigCityLib blogged about a week ago), U.S. troops have had to redeploy around Baghdad and elsewhere, because their Iraqi counterparts have been unable to stem the wave of sectarian killings.
More targets = more casualties.

With regard to the Newspeak (hey, that was fun, thanks) – here’s another article talking about How We Can Change Reality Just By Changing Our Vocabulary.
http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/980
In this -, the ‘B’ vocabulary in Europe, you deal with terrorism by – not calling it terrorism!
Terms such as ‘Islamic terrorism, Islamist, fundamentalist, jihad’ – are no longer to be used. The EU is saying that jihad, which we understand to mean ‘holy war’ in Orwellian Newspeak (ie, in EU language) refers actually to ‘fighting evil within oneself’.
Ahh- so, the suicide bombers in 9/11, in the London commuter trains..were actually, not attempting to harm anyone. They were fighting ‘evil within themself’. Hmm. How does that explain the Madrid bombings, i.e., the non-suicide bombings?
That Rik Coolsaet, in Belgium, is a headless jerk. Islam is NOT a religion like any other religion. Indeed, what is remarkable about it is how little it IS a religion, i.e., how little it has to say about the metaphysical. Islam is primarily a political and social system. It has almost nothing to say about creation, generation and the metaphysical, and the little it does say, is primarily a repetition, in endless images, of existent beliefs. But it has a great deal of specific details to say about social and political tribalism. Therefore, it is most certainly NOT a religion ‘like any other’. It’s a sociopolitical mode.
And, its assertion that, as a religion, these social and political modes of behaviour are immune to objective criticism and change is its basic flaw.
The basic flaw of Europeans and Canadians (for we are similar in our political correctness) is that we accept their rejection of analysis and criticism and, instead of insisting that they change – from Islamofascism to democracy, we change. We move from Masters of ourselves, to Slaves of Islam, to ‘dhimmitude’. And, we are doing this to ourselves.
Well, it’s a brand new week and already I’m shaking my head, wondering whatever happened to the Canada I grew up in.
First of all, according to the polls: Muslim=good, Christian=bad. for a country with a judeo-christian history I find this a bit scary. The words Canadian Prime minister and Ayatollah should not be in the same sentence let along refering to the same man. I said man because I have yet to hear or see a female Ayatollah.
And second, one in five Canadians believe Dan Brown’s Da Vinci code is some sort of alternate history book and that Jesus faked his death and the moon landing and… mind you, these are probably the same people who voted Liberal.

ELDRIDGE, N.D. – A stowaway who made it past Customs agents and into the United States on the metal frame of a fertilizer truck has won over locals, who call her the “sweetest illegal immigrant we’ve ever met.” The migrant a cat hopped aboard a semitrailer hauling fertilizer from Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, to Eldridge, near Jamestown. Customs agents at the border alerted the driver, but no one could catch the feline. When the semi arrived in Eldridge, the furry stowaway was still clinging to the frame. All the people who stormed the cockpit of Flight 93 are US. What I mean by that–we aren’t dead–is that it took a lot of guts, courage, grit, for the passengers of Flight 93 to take matters into their own hands instead of being passive observers of their own fate–their own deaths at the hands of ruthless, cold-blooded, psychopapthic killers.
In actual fact, North America, Europe, in fact all of the “free” world, IS Flight 93.
Unless we recognize that our democratic freedoms are being hi-jacked, BIG-TIME, by the Islamist terrorists–and their dupes, the bleeding-heart liberal lefties who don’t seem to care whether the plane goes into the ground or not–and unless we are willing to become active participants in preventing our own destruction, our plane is heading for the same fate.

Prime Minister Harper to ask Parliament to approve choice in child care allowance
Time for opposition parties to stand up for universal child care
April 18, 2006
Burnaby, B.C.
After meeting with a group of parents and children in Burnaby, Prime Minister Stephen Harper reiterated his commitment to fulfilling a key conservative campaign promise – providing a universal child care plan – by asking Parliament to approve the choice in child care allowance.
“Do the opposition parties support giving parents $1200 per child, per year or do they prefer the status quo which is zero? Our new approach requires no federal-provincial negotiations, no funding for academics, researchers or special interest groups, and it cuts out the political and bureaucratic middlemen. It will provide real support and direct payment, as soon as Parliament approves it,” explained the Prime Minister. +

Are Liberals The Worst Bigots of All?
By ALICIA COLON
April 18, 2006
Here it is 2006 and conservative blacks are enduring slurs worthy of a grand wizard of the KKK. Is it possible that liberals are the worst bigots of all?
You may ask: How can that be? Surely, you say, liberals were the ones marching for civil rights in the 1960s, so how can they now be accused of bigotry? Because most of the incidents involve discrimination against blacks, I was tempted to use the word racists, but most of the bigots are also black, so bigotry is the more accurate term.
In my opinion, Condoleezza Rice is the most important woman in the world. Our secretary of state grew up in the segregated South and was a friend of Denise McNair, one of the four girls killed in the Birmingham, Ala., Baptist church bombing in 1963.
Then you have Aaron McGruder, the young creator of the controversial and infrequently amusing cartoon “The Boondocks,” who has portrayed Ms. Rice in vicious ways in his comic strip and has called her and a former secretary of state, Colin Powell, murderers. Of course, Mr. McGruder, a Californian who was raised in a black middle-class family and attended private schools, has only a vicarious idea of what discrimination is, especially when filtered through tired liberal channels.
Not surprisingly, the most egregious insults are being hurled around in the environs of academia, which is ironic considering that Ms. Rice was once the provost of Stanford University. Much of the invective would have gone unnoticed in earlier years, but thanks to some alert conservative students and the Internet, the malicious incidents are coming to light.
At Seattle’s Bellevue Community College, for example, an unnamed teacher changed the wording of a practice math quiz question to read: “Condoleezza holds a watermelon just over the edge of the roof of the 300-foot Federal Building, and tosses it up with a velocity of 20 feet per second.” +

Federal Conservatives unwilling to save Quebec City zoo, Verner says
Canadian Press
Tuesday, April 18, 2006
QUEBEC (CP) – The Quebec zoo’s fate appears to be sealed after the federal government said Tuesday it wouldn’t intervene to reopen the closed attraction.
“The file is closed,” International Co-operation Minister Josee Verner said after meeting with Quebec City Mayor Andree Boucher.
Citizens groups opposed to the zoo’s closing must seek help from another source, added the area MP who is also minister responsible for la Francophonie and the Official Languages Act.
“It has always been clear that we would respect the provincial government’s decision,” she said, noting the zoo was a provincial responsibility.+
