The Rest Of The Story

This doesn’t seem to be getting nearly the same coverage as the original strike did.
CBC

Three senior al-Qaeda members, including one with a $5-million US bounty on his head, were among those killed in a U.S. airstrike in a Pakistani village, say Pakistani authorities. […]
[including] Midhat Mursi al-Sayid ‘Umar, an expert in explosives and poisons who was the target of the $5-million bounty. A third man has been identified as Abu Obaidah al Misri, al-Qaeda’s chief of operations in Afghanistan’s dangerous Kunar province.

Perhaps Bin Laden was closer than they thought….

  1. Of course it’s not getting the play. Canadian MSM wants us to believe the War on Terror – a war led by the U.S. – is failing.
The same goes for the war in Iraq.

  2. Bin laden wants a truce? Give me a break. There is only one thing that this evil man wants is to destroy everything and anything that stands for freedom. Watch your backs America and if we think that we are safe from terrorism in Canada we are only fooling ourselves!

  3. Of course not. It’s a success and therefore
the MSM find it inconvenient – going against
their storyline of abject failure in the
    unecessary war on “terror”.
Congratulations to the US servicemen and women.

  4. But just yesterday the Pakistanis were saying that there were no terrorists in Pakistan and all the victims were civilians.

  5. What about the comments from France today? Basically, they are saying if any country launches terrorist attack against France, they would respond with nuclear weapons. Comments like that play into the hands of nutbars like Osama Bin Laden, who would like nothing better than an all-out (read: nuclear) holy war. Remember, my French friends, Islamists don’t care about losing hundreds of thousands of Muslims in a nuclear attack. That would be just fine, Osama has never had a problem killing fellow Muslims. They are pawns to a greater end, the enslavement of the world into a Islamist Whabbi caliphate where human rights don’t exist, and women are chattel.

  6. Today, somewhere in a cave or hut in Afghanistan, or Pakistan…or IRAN…Bin Ladin is thinking:
Who might sell him out for all those infidel dollars? Who might set him up to save his own skin? And he might toss an occasional fearful glance upwards, looking for a Predator and a salvo of Hellfire missiles.
Soon, Mr. Bin Ladin, soon… We won’t forget you. Ever.

  7. A new tape has surfaced nullifying any rumour that Bin Laden is proposing a truce. The tape threatens the United States with more terrorism, adding that increased security there was not the reason they haven’t attacked since Sept. 11, 2001.
As has been seen before, when Bin Laden makes a threat, he usually follows through not long after. The only way to stop him is to kill him and quash Al Qaeda in every country in the world. No small feat.

  8. Bin laden wants a truce? Give me a break. There is only one thing that this evil man wants is to destroy everything and anything that stands for freedom.
Heh, I don’t think he’s ready to meet 72 virgins. Hence the offer of a truce. He’s a coward, nothing more.

  9. How does one actually say ‘Time Out! Time Out!’ in arabic? Could that be used as a new battlecry?

  10. I didn’t realize there were so many pinheads and rednecks in my lil’ol province.
Pull your heads out of the sand and look around!
Shut off your television pumping in Detroit cable, with all it’s unapplicable violence!
Take one last look under the bed and realize that Osama the “terrorist” isn’t there, then figure out that that dipshit that pretends to run the country south of us is the REAL threat to our freedoms and safety.
    Tch,tch,tch…..

  11. Canadians who are against fighting terrorists in Afghanistan must logically prefer to fight them here in our subways and on our airliners. That’s leaving it a little late.

  12. I agree with you, Yankee Dave (A proud US Air Force veteran. And friend of Canada.) Fear not, Dave, we have our own tinfoil hatters up here who don’t believe terrorists exist and that it is just some fictional abstraction hoisted upon us by eveil Repubs. Msy W hold a press conference with bin Laden’s head in a jar! Unfortunately, we would see suicides amongst the anti-West lefties if this were to happen…. hehehehe

  13. I believe the stuff will hit the Iranian fan in March. I’ve said this for two years. I believe this has been the plan all along. I also believe that Russia and China will sit this one out and that Israel and the US will do the job. In less than a fortnight it will be over. Then the Iranian people will take over. There will be no mass invasion like in Iraq. That was a mistake.
By the way, I support Bush, even though he isn’t making the big decisions right now.
    My concerns are two:
How will the US handle it’s massive and building debt due to this “war on terrorism”? This affects the whole world.
How will al Queda and those countries supporting international terrorism respond to losing three countries in the area? Afghanistan, Iraq and soon Iran, with others to follow? When everyone is watching another war in the Middle East, North America will be extremely vulnerable. There are thousands of terrorists already among us. And they are ready. This is the big reason why I’m very happy to see a CPC victory and the gun registry cancelled. Just hope it isn’t too late. All Canada needs right now is a citizenry that can’t take care of itself. Canada is a very big place. The police and army can’t be everywhere.
Another concern is the huge movement to the cities over the last few years. Some cities may not be very comfortable or safe places to live in the near future. In the country you can at least heat with wood and plant a little garden. The suite I’m in right now would be hell on earth if the electricity were cut off in the middle or a severe winter.

  14. Sooner or later, someone will send this OBL megalomaniac to his reward of 72 virgins.
Here’s hoping they all turn out to be 450 pound gay sumo wrestlers.

  15. CBC just had an update on the soldiers wounded (or, “injured” as the CEEB script puts it), by suicide bomb.
Gray, the CBC face, led in with references to “military hospital” “Germany” without once using the dreaded “U.S.” to identify where the soldiers where being treated.
(Yesterday they referred to the Canadaian medical officer in Landstuhl as “attending” the soldiers – indeed, he is doing just that, attending, but doing any of the actual treatment or surgery, which is being done by U.S. military doctors and nurses.)
Happily, the Canadian army spokesman did say who in fact was treatiing the men and went on to say said that they were receiving “the best medical care on the planet” Hah.
Meanwhile, we read our Canadian (Armed) Forces are facing a dire shortage of medical officers and personnel.

  16. “Meanwhile, we read our Canadian (Armed) Forces are facing a dire shortage of medical officers and personnel.”
This is one of the areas where Canada can really contribute in the future. Another would be small specialized strike forces.
Both of these could be deployed when needed anywhere in the world, responding to any situation, both peacetime and war. They would be a valued contribution by all our allies and yet wouldn’t cost all that much compared to re-building a whole army.

  17. Oh it looks like it’s time to bring out the boogie man once again….Just for the record there are an infinite supply of number 2,3,4 terror people so I wouldn’t read too much into the “we got them” line of thinking.
Could be a big signal to their operatives to do their thing however. An old guy with a dialysis machine hiding in a cave doesn’t really worry me. The neocons who use it for control , hysteria DO.

  18. pinhead at google mail – in Toronto, maybe, in lil’ol Ontario? Or maybe not? Why bring your hatred of your republican/conservative president up here in the middle of an election campaign?
Oh, yes, I know – the fear factor. Plays well in Toronto no doubt.

  19. How will the US handle it’s massive and building debt due to this “war on terrorism”? This affects the whole world.
Without control of terrorists there isn’t any use worrying about debt.
The public debt will never be repaid anyway. Money is lent into circulation. At interest. (In our cities. In Canada. I’m not making that up. Sorry, couldn’t help it:) That means the interest to pay the debt doesn’t exist.
If the debt were ever repaid it would take so much money out of circulation the dirty thirties would look prosporous.

  20. As much as I fear OBL, it’s Ahmadinejad that just scares the hell out me. He’s apparently now held several meetings in which he proclaims he’s on a divine mission and often when speaking feels he’s been showered by the light of Allah.
Bottom Line: This guy with nukes is NOT an option. How we halt this is another matter altogether because having to attack Iran would be tragic given that so much of their society (excluding their leadership) is so progressive. Let’s hope the world finds a way to take him out individually, either by asssassination or coup and avoids a military strike that would undoubtedly create civilian casualties.

  21. The democratization of Iraq has caused a lot of consternation in nearby countries. People there are starting to glimpse what freedom is. That’s causing some unrest, and perhaps will solve the problem.

  22. “pinhead at google mail – in Toronto, maybe, in lil’ol Ontario? Or maybe not? Why bring your hatred of your republican/conservative president up here in the middle of an election campaign?

I would respond more in depth, but I don’t really understand your post.
I’m from the land of the living skies, gellen.
My point in bringing up georgie, is in reaction to the “terrorism” word I’m fed up with seeing in the media, blogs, political party supporter sermons, etc…
Piss in the playground enough,(a.k.a. the middle East or anywhere else besides your own country), and someone will punch you in the eye.
Terrorism is a 2-WAY street. With consequences for both sides.

  23. Holy Hudnas
Hudna -Arabic word for temporary truce
In 628 AD., Mohammed marched from Medina with 1500 believers to his native city of Mecca. A numerically superior anti-Muslim army came out against him; rather than fight, the two sides, met at a place called Hudaibiyah, declared a hudna in which each made concessions.
Two years later, Mohammed annulled the truce, marched again on Mecca with a far larger force and took the city.

  24. A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he’s not authorized to speak to media, said Egyptian Midhat Mursi was among the three top al-Qaeda figures who were present in Damadola village at the time of the attack and whose bodies were believed to have been taken away by sympathizers.
Maybe that’s because they don’t have anyway of saying who they killed. But they have too put a good spin on their terrorist act.

  25. good god, these Al-Quaida types keep resurrecting from the dead! This is the fourth time Abu Obaidah al Misri has been killed!

  26. I’m with Yankee Dave… 12:21
Osamaists have pasted together voice snippets that are to be translated as…
    * Pu-leeeese, give us a breather. Let’s talk.*
Our answer: Not a chance in hell!
Even if Osama were to call off all body and vehicle bombing worldwide, there will still be idiot zelots who will self-destruct in America, the UK, Indonesia and all of the middle east.
No talking with Osama*s henchmen can stop the monster of Osama*s making.
sadly, there will be loss of innocent lives, but Jihadists strap on bomb vests in private homes among innocents.
The Jihad will slow and nearly stop only when innocent people warn the authorities in time to prevent bombings.
Until that happens, Jihadists can expect to
see an approaching missle in their future.
