Typical left-wing response when they are hit with the facts.Hopefully he will get at least a reprimand for trying to set the college’s policies. Looks like another good candidate for a human shield to protect the “freedom fighters” in the Middle East.

WCCC investigating controversial e-mail
Adjunct instructors comments gain national attention
WASHINGTON TWP. (Nov. 18, 2005) Officials at Warren County Community College are investigating political comments about the war in Iraq made by an adjunct instructor to a student via an e-mail message.
Responding earlier this week to a students invitation to attend a student club event, John Daly, an adjunct instructor of Basic Writing and Developmental English, e-mailed the student with a host of his own personal beliefs. The student club event, sponsored by the Young Americans for Freedom, featured Iraq war veteran Lt. Col. Scott Rutter as a guest speaker.
WCCC President Dr. William Austin personally welcomed guests to the event, held on Thursday, and introduced Rebecca Beach, president and secretary of the newly formed club. Lt. Col. Rutters talk was well received, and deemed a success by attendees.
WCCC is further investigating Mr. Dalys conduct and his expression of views in the classroom and on campus.
Indeed, Mr. Dalys comments have caused much controversy on and off campus. Dr. Austin said, I personally find Mr. Dalys e-mail disgraceful and offensive, yet I must maintain that the college be a place for free expression, ideas, and open debate.
Dr. Austin added, We must remember that Mr. Daly is just one instructor out of many here. These are apparently his personal political views. He does not represent the colleges views, mission, and core values. We are a small community college and are here to serve the community and will continue to do so.
The college will continue to keep its pulse on this issue while maintaining its high standards of professionalism and integrity of all concerned, noted Dr. Austin.
WCCC Chairman of the Board, Ed Smith, said, We are fortunate to live in a world where so many brave men and women are willing to fight and die for our freedoms, including the right to express ones opinions.
Is he really a professor of Basic Writing and Developmental English??
“…until groups like your won’t dare…”
“Your literature and signs…is extremely offensive.”
“huricane Katrina”
“highest proft margin ever.”
Unless his comments were retyped by someone else, it seems to prove that certain species of moonbats have more than one damaged area of the brain.
I heard Rebecca on Sean Hannity yesterday.
She says “Mr.” Daly is a very serious elite…
Pretty typical at most schools of higher learning in North America.
Google “John Peter Daly” and you’ll get a pretty good impression of this doofus.
But what more can you say about him than this article…
http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/54a/035.html
…Daly, a Workers World Party member who just ran for Congress in Los Angeles on the Peace and Freedom ticket, is an activist with the International Action Center.
While in the Philippines the three (including Daly) attended the Anti- Imperialist World Peasant Summit, held in Manila to oppose the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and the capitalist class’s global grab for profits.
Bwahahaha!
“Anti-Imperialist World Peasant Summit”…
These people crack me up, its like a self-parody… wow thats funny.
So professor “Mr.” Daly vows to continue his crusade until those with dissenting opinions “won’t dare show their face on a college campus”?
Do you suppose professor Mr. Daly has enough ammo and grit to hold Belt Parkway Community College singlehandedly?
Daly’s whining like the rejected secret admirer of Senator McCarthy’s favorite nephew. Maybe he’d be in favor of opening prisons to school our thoughts.
Priceless just priceless, but typical of that oh so caring and gentle mindset of the lib/left majority. Every once in a while one oozes above the curb to expose their gentle loving caring nature.
AsISeeIt:
“typical of that oh so caring and gentle mindset of the lib/left majority”
The guys a whackjob and a bully. He’s as typical of my left as (i hope) Pat Robertson or Zundel is to your right.
Daly’s a scumbag. But a lot of folks here don’t take too kindly to dissenting opinions either. It’s the height of irony that the FReepers are complaining about this.
So Jay…please enlighten us WRT to right leaning profs abusing their status to further their agenda.
Well?
You have made an equivalency and thrown irony into the mix…well please state your case…us ignorant conservatives aren’t mind readers.
The day is coming when Iraqi’s will soon have the freedom to stand up, and like the good prof, make a complete ass out of themselves.
aziggen:
I don’t think Jaymeister was talking about right leaning professors (is there such a thing?), I read it as he meant commenters here.
Math was my major at university and all the professors suppressed dissent. They tolerated no equations that are different from those found in the books or alternative definitions of conventional units.
Math was my major at university and all the professors suppressed dissent. They tolerated no equations that are different from those found in the books or alternative definitions of conventional units.
Nice strawman there Stevie. So your saying that students should be allowed to say 1 + 1 = -3 only if they are lefties cooking up the books for the budgets and elections?
And Jay…its about time some rightwingers started throwing the crap back at the lefties. It’s so much fun to watch the lefties whine and snivel. As usual,as soon as somebody takes a stand against your position, they are intolerant. There are nutcases on both sides of the spectrum.Unfortunately, the MSM seems to love them the most. The best treatment one can give to extremists is the silent treatment, except when they infringe on others rights.
Justthinking
Old saying be careful what you wish for you may get it. Your formlu in binary “not 1 and 1 = -3 is valid.
Unfortunatly can’t say the same for prof dufus.
Doesn’t sound much like a peasant to me. More like a member of the “intelligentsia” (emphasis on the quotation marks), which as any cadre knows, occupies the higher rungs of the social order in Communist countries.
My Vietnamese girlfriend, herself the offspring of university professors and good Party members, explained in great detail the stratification of that society and others like it.
I would expect anyone right or left would condemn this man and be proud of how the girl took him on.
And about the math professors I had…I was making a joke.
That kind of insanity leaves me speechless.
After reading the Mark Helprin piece I am convinced that there is no point discussing anything with this type of fanatic. Daly is as much a terrorist as any muslim with a Semtex pack on his chest. He should be dealt with as a terrorist and not allowed to walk free whilst condemning anything that is right and good.
I’ll pay for the bullet.
At my university they just banned pro-life groups from even appearing on Campus. I wish I had to time to challenge it right off the bat by myself. The leftists pretty much run my campus. Personally, i’d love to see the pro-life groups that were banned sue the PANTS off the student union and embarrass the heck out of the intolerant, anti-intellectual fascists who run it.
Daley is a creature I would enjoy having a private moment with. His ilk cheered and celebrated when friends of mine returned from Vietnam in flag draped coffins.
The liberal/conservative argument in itself is healthy. People should have degrees of difference. The problem is that percentage that takes it to the extreme. There are those on the right who do also. Even allowing for a healthy dose of bias on my own part the percentage of left wing bomb throwers has been far higher that from the right over the last twenty or so years.
I seriously contend that in the US the leaders of the Democrat party I grew up with would spit on the current liberal leadership (insert fantasy vision of “Old Hickory” walking into a closed meeting of Pelosi, Fat Ted etc. while carrying his famouse walking stick).
Yeah OK , but the guy can get it out there in the 300 yard plus range with a smoke in his mouth!!
Townhall.com has a university prof who writes for them on these very issues. He deals with the intolerances and insanity of the leftists on his campus with good humor and superior intellect. Also an occasional threat of lawsuit. He is a law prof .. so that helps. According to Mike he carries a gun at all times, legally, for his own safety. There is much to fear from peaceniks. Mike Adams

Check out this diatribe. No wonder people lose their credibility when they say things as stupid as this. Problem is is it discredits other Catholics as well who would never agree with him………guilty by association.

Prison is a sin
Our prison system breaks up families, teaches crime, spreads disease and defrauds the taxpayer.
Dateline: Monday, November 14, 2005
by Ed Griffin for Catholic New Times
People of our era look back on history and shake their heads in revulsion. How could one man, Hitler, have ordered the extermination of the Jewish people? Why did most of his country go along with such a madman? How did it happen that people captured human beings in Africa and sold them in North American marketplaces? How could they tear a mother from her children, a woman from her husband?
How could people do these things?
Yet the time will come when our descendants will abhor what we have done. “You did what with people who broke your laws? You put them in cages and left them there for years?”
It is my belief that a Christian cannot support the idea of prison. It’s evil; it’s a sin. If one sits down and reads any chapter of the New Testament, then closes the book, that person cannot say that prisons are a good idea. Beyond the Christian perspective, any true humanitarian must denounce the concept of imprisonment.
We Canadians pride ourselves on a humane prison system and, compared to the US system, we deserve the praise. But that’s like saying, “I only committed murder, not rape and murder.”
Prison doesn’t work. It’s a crime school. Everyone knows that.
Prison causes family breakup. Divorce is an unexpected result of most prison sentences. There’s an old prison saying: the man receives the sentence and the woman lives it. She faces economic hardship and the raising of children by herself. How can we talk of support for the family, when we tear families apart by prison?
Prison rips the identity out of a man (or woman). Day in and day out, the public address system shouts, “Inmate Jones, report to the kitchen.” Intentionally or unintentionally, many prison guards and prison officials communicate moral superiority to the men and women they work with. This includes guards, doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, parole officers, office workers and yes, even chaplains and teachers. People live up to our expectations of them. Treat them as dirt and they will act as dirt.
Prison sentences come with some fine print: “Oh, by the way, I sentence you to the possibility of getting Hepatitis C, of being knifed, of losing your family and of being killed. And don’t expect good medical and dental care.”
Prison is a huge taxpayer fraud. We pay millions to warehouse criminals. The system says it will try to reform them, but it doesn’t try very hard. There’s a terrible “us and them” mentality in prison. No real help can come in such an atmosphere. And the fact is that most prisoners get out and stand behind us in line at Canadian Tire, unreformed, unchanged, in fact perhaps worsened by the prison system.
So what’s the answer? Forget about crime? Absolutely not. We’ve been soft on crime, we’ve been tough on crime, now it’s time to get smart on crime. …

you live in Regina or Saskatoon?
Sounds like something the moronic moonbats in that province would pull off.
Now you know what so many people “USED” to catholics.
When I am asked if I belive in god I can say laughingly … “no I was brought up catholic.”
Some religions are dangerous and some are just stupid. I am aware that many people on the right feel the need to relate to a deity. I do not. However, unlike the leftists, I would not deny anyone their beliefs up to and until they affect my life.

Leftist bias in academia has firm historical footing
Johns Hopkins News-Letter ^ | November 18, 2005 | Patrick Kennedy

To just about anyone who has been following the political winds for the past few decades, academia’s rampant liberalism is tantamount to a fact of nature, one of the few social conditions almost as consistent and seemingly unalterable as the phases of the moon.
But what is surprising, for such a widespread trend, is how egregiously flawed all the explanations for academia’s liberal slant are. Though there are a few clever ones, most of the usual reasons either contradict hard political fact or rest on specially tailored generalizations. And yet, there is one diagnosis that lies not in conservative cries of selective hiring or liberal claims to selflessness and intellectual superiority, but in the solid truths of our nation’s culture and history.
The question to start with is not why academia is so liberal, but where its resident liberals came from in the first place. What you’ll find is that the creation of solidly leftward faculties and student bodies was set in motion generations ago, more by electoral circumstances than any monolithic political agenda. But what started off as a mere cultural trend mutated into a weapon for ideological segregation, wielded by liberals and conservatives alike to kill off any potential for rigorous political dialogue…. >>> more

More Islamist butchery in Indonesia
The bloody ‘Religion of Peace’ Head-Choppers are at it again! Young women were again attacked with sharpened machetes by Muslim killers in Indonesia. I don’t need to tell you the results – I’m sure you all know the way it goes in these gruesome Islamic ritual killings of innocent Christian girls.
If you have the stomach for it (I don’t) there are some grusome photos of the butchery at Dog-Pundit.

Victor Hugo obviously never visited a school in Toronto!
Neither did Alcott:
“The true teacher defends his pupils against his own personal influence.”
Liberal bias in academia? Absolutely.
Conservative bias in business and the military? Absolutely.
And the distinction between academia and the business/military perspective is that the latter survives – sometimes literally – on the quality of their thinking, leadership qualities, speed of decision making and overall success/failure ratio.
In other words, they walk the walk.
Academia, on the other hand….
Hehe Kate it could also be construed another way. The reason liberals don’t join the military and volunteer for combat arms (of course they must desire this since they’re allways announcing what patriots they are) is because the nefarious Republicans/conservatives would oppress them.
Seriously I’m really glad I spent all the time pinning down the university choices for my son. The one he’s attending for his physics degree may have some moonbats grazing but they’re keeping their extremes to theirselves and actually doing their work instead of activism.
Once again Jay does a drive by smear…
Examples please…especially examples with a cap “C” conservative…as you suggest.
I won’t hold my breath
Drive-by smear, Aziggen? Do you not deny that the business world is predominately conservative? (Sorry about the cap “C” in my last post – that was because sntences are supposed to start with a capital letter. Your liberal English teacher might not have explained that to you.) I wasn’t complaining about that, just making a point that there’s a proper place for each philosophy. You, on the other hand, will let out a hue and cry unless all liberal thought is extinguished everywhere. I don’t believe in suppression, and that’s why I agree that Daly’s conduct was objectionable.
Jay,that’s fasinating stuff,… where is the “proper place” for communist philosophy?
Rich: I spent a month at a kibutz in Israel. That was communism at its purist. And a wonderful experience. There’s a time and place for everything.
Funny how the lefties always have to resort to book burning and other heavy handed measures to promote their socialist utopias.
One would think that if their society was so great, people would be drawn to it like a ship on stormy seas to a safe harbour or maybe like flies to fresh dog shit.
Their inate distrust of people causes them to be fearful of exposing anyone to any ideas but their own.
Or is it that they know that they’re full of shit, but they have their snout in the trough and don’t want anyone to rock the boat?
Jaymeister:
Business is conservative in what way? They strive to succeed, to offer the most competitive products/services to their clients, that they reward those that innovate, that they are always striving to innovate as their future is never guaranteed…sounds like they would make a good government don’t you think?
one more thought
Academia and the Media (I prefer to call them entertainers now because true journalism in Canada is dead) = Liberals = fantasyland
Business and Military = Real world
Here is the letter I sent to Dear John.
Dear John,
I just read your letter to Rebecca and I am driven to pity you. A University Prof. in America who holds such vile and contemptible Ideas when you are where you are because many many of your forbearers gave their lives that enable you to spew such hate and vicious falsehoods. I don’t live in the USA. I was born and live in the Canadian Province of Newfoundland. The Newfoundland Regiment was almost wiped out at Beaumont Hamel, in France during the First World War. http://home.ca.inter.net/~cstephens/beaumont_hamel/ I as well as many others lost ancestors there.During WWII Newfoundlanders lined up to do their duty by the thousands and that was 1939. Newfoundland provides more men and women per capita to the Canadian Forces than any other in Canada. To live free means to fight those who would take it away and that includes those in foreign lands who need our help. You sir, are a poor excuse for a human being, in fact, based on your letter to Rebecca, I infer that you are a coward who only believes in free speech as long as it is your speech. May you rot in Hell, but have a nice day.
I remain,
Sincerely yours,
Capt. Craig Furlong CD2
Awesome, Cap’n!

I love Daly’s comments about 12 hrs to defeat Iraq and 5 days to deal with Katrina. Typical equivalentism. Take two events, find some similarity, then ignore differences to make point on totally different matter – in this case racism. The fact is that the US forces had to build up for months prior to actually invading Iraq.
CONSERVATIVES, RIGHT-WINGS, REPUBLICANS…WHATEVER FITS YOUR FUZZY LITTLE HEARTS..
PLEASE READ
Understand this:
Professor Daly responded to an email that was sent to him. This email was a private email. He did not copy nor view nor seek an email address in any manner. I repeat he responded to an email sent to him. Now, I want everybody to take a deep breath, clear your minds, you might even want to sit down for this one…
HE HAD NO IDEA SHE WAS A STUDENT…Constantly, constantly, constantly it’s like either you guys are severly ignorant or doing it on purpose, but you people always seem to twist a situation into something completely different.
His response was not to a student but to a ghost. An individual with a blank face, blank age, blank sex, and blank social status.
He was not attacking a student. He was responding with his views to an individual, and only an individual. That’s right guys and girls. I know, I know, it’s hard to grasp, please consider a glass of water or a short nap after having read this.
Now, let’s re-think how differently this changes the story. And, before you respond please note the term “ignorance” and phrase “twisting the truth”. Let them guide you. Let them facilitate your response so that it just may sound civil, intelligent even. Almost as if you sat down and thought about your ideas before you actually disclose them. Atta boy, I knew you could do it…

The professor who gained national attention for suggesting U.S. soldiers in Iraq kill their superior officers has resigned his teaching post at a New Jersey college, moments before school officials were slated to decide his fate. The pre-emptive action by adjunct English professor John Daly was taken late yesterday, shortly before an emergency meeting of the board of trustees at Warren County Community College. “The board was informed of Mr. Daly’s decision to resign his adjunct position at WCCC effective immediately,” said college president Dr. William Austin. “I firmly believe that the most precious freedom all Americans share is the… >>>
